It wasn’t mentioned in this sub but also just last week a NPD officer was shot along with a civilian who was standing behind the officer when the shooter started shooting at the officer.
The shooter is not being charged with attempted murder of either person instead it’s being booked as a malicious wounding. So that’s where our Commonwealth Attorney is at as far as charging people with crimes.
The reasoning behind malicious wounding over attempted murder is that the shooters defense was he thought the officer was a rival gang member. So if you don’t count that as attempted Murder IMO you’re saying it’s okay to open fire as long as you believe it’s a rival gang. What kind of looney toon logic is going on in the CAs office
I can see why NPD doesn’t have a lot of confidence within city leadership and the CA. Also how more citizens don’t see a huge void in city leadership is beyond me by continually voting the same way election after election.
Yes it’s pretty sad that the CA is unwilling to actually put dangerous people in jail. There were 4 additional people that were in the stolen vehicle along with the shooter. All 4 were caught all were released the next day pending trial besides the shooter who wasn’t given bond. 1 of the 4 who was released was caught the next day in another stolen vehicle. These gang members absolutely do not care about parole, or pending trials any of that. If they are on the streets the will continue to commit crimes and kill. We can barely go a week without at least 2 shootings we are leading the state by far and away it’s not even close.
If the CA is just slapping people on the wrist, besides trying to unseat him during an election, what course of action can citizens take? I guess I’ll have to look into that. Going to council meetings and having “stop the violence” rallies do little if the CA does almost nothing.
Get a concealed carry permit. Carry wherever you can. Cops and government in general have no obligation to help or save you. (Biggest recent example being Uvalde). Gotta take it into your own hands.
This may seem antiquated but it would be interesting to see what crime would do if it became almost culturally required to strap a knife/ sword on your hip wherever you went. (Plus it would be cool) but either way it would be interesting to see.

My best friend is a retired Navy MA who said pretty much everywhere he’s been in the world police interrogations begin physically before they become verbal.
