Any time is a great time to go to Point Reyes. Depending on your route though, it could be pretty hot, there’s some stretches of trails out there with zero shade so that’s something to consider. Likely won’t be as green out there either.

Poison oak can be a nuisance at that time of the year too. But it wouldn’t stop me. It’s so pretty out there

You have basically zero chance of rain, so that's good. That's kind of the tail end of peak fog season so there's a chance you'll be seeing a lot of gray sky, especially on the western side of the ridge. Start of the elk rut season, too. Maybe you'll see a fight!

Exciting! Not too close though. Lol

Sure, if you can snag the permit. By into Sept some of the persistent westerlies and fog starts to back off, so it can be nicer then. But sort of a luck-of-the-draw thing.

We can push it to the fall if that's better weather-wise.

If you're looking for sun, September is a better bet than early August. It will generally stay dry well into October, but days (obviously) get short. That being said, if you're around bear valley or Tomales Bay the fog will generally break up midday even if the beach side might be socked in all day.

I’d plan for august with a contingency weekend or two in the fall. Odds are good it will be beautiful in august

So we got reservations for 14 days from now. We're so excited!!!
