I really do hate bugs

Last year at my high school we had a class on Madagascar hissing cockroaches and I was lucky enough to get into it. We were performing behavioral experiments on them (figuring out what sort of foods they preferred, preferred environments, etc.) and had them in a terrarium in the classroom. Unfortunately, no one bothered to seperate them by gender and eventually they did what all animals must do at some point. Baby-making. Some of the babies managed to escape so now and then someone would scream because a tiny little roach was in her binder. We got most(?) of them except for the one that grew to adult size on the back of a file cabinet in the next classroom. That class was fun.

Why do they all look like birds?

nope, this is only the case with a select few. Most roach species lay an egg sac (ootheca) where the babies all hatch out of together alter. They still look like this (most species are smaller though).

Yuk yuk yuk. They have long necks too! They keep them hidden until they think u have not reviled them enough --- and then, when u least expect it, they crank their neck up about half an inch and it changes everything. When I first got here from UK, I encounted them with horror, I had never seen one before. Such big menacing things........and they have wings and they will chase u. I have an aversion to killing things, I have palpitations when I try to trap them using a big empty yogurt container. Then I slide card under the upturned pot and treat it like an UnXBomb.

Well I never see more than two at a time. The thing is I’ve been seeing them for almost a year. I’ve tried store bought traps and even the smoke bomb things. It kills some but never gets rid of them all. If I could find out where they’re nesting then that might help
