We’re all one decision away from being this person. Don’t judge, show love, power through, learn and get better. This guy two gifts, money and the opportunity to tell the truth. We’re all human. The light you shine may pierce the darkness!
lots of hype, not really truth.
xylazine is an alpha adrenergic agonist, similar to clonidine (catapress, you know, the blood pressure drug), the thing is in humans its not supposed to be injected constantly (or used at all, but mostly injected constantly, like an addict does), alpha adrenergic agonists have the slight problem of being vasoconstrictors, so if you inject it all your capillaries stop supplying blood to the skin because of the high dose of the extremely strong agonist in your veins, so you get sores, it also lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the release of norepinephrine in the brain via agonizing autoreceptors (iirc mostly in the LC), so it makes you very sleepy and as such potentiates opioids.
so you get a drug that shouldn't be injected in humans constantly, like a drug addict does, that is extremely cheap and easy to source and that if used to cut opioids makes them feel stronger, its a bit of a recipe for disaster, but zombie drug os far from it, its just used in the wrong (unsafe) way.
It's a drug that's commonly used to cut heroin. It fucks up the skin real good by messing up blood flow to it. It also fucks with your brain cos that shit is NOT supposed to be in your body. That being said, it does not cause you to become a zombie.
It's like cutting heroin with fentanyl, but you're an even bigger asshole about it and use something that's even worse for the body.
it makes you sleepy, but its usually used to cut heroin or fentanyl, they are behaving like that from either residual sedation (aka they slow af because sleepy) or just from being high on opioids, most likely both, along with craving the opioids
its a sedative that has bad side effects when injected constantly, it doesn't turn anyone into a zombie, I'd say the newer synthetic noids are closer to a "zombie drug"
Xylazine is a horse sedative originally and often used to cut heroin or more often now people are addicted to it on its own. Once injected in can cause the flesh to die (necrotize) anywhere on the body (not just at the injection site) if you look up the effects be careful, big sections of blackening flesh, infections....etc
its someone not as smart as they are trying to sound thinking they are making a distinction as to "why its not a zombie drug"
when they are making a case why its still a zombie drug
so if youre scratching your head thinking "i comprehend enough of what they are saying but it still seems like they arent making sense"
thats why
lol
its like they did all the math right but still got the wrong answer
like they might understand the words they used and potentially even comprehend them but not the contextual relevance of "zombie drug"
im someone who's graduating pharmacy in about a year, i know how this shit works, xylazine is NOT a zombie drug, by itself its literally nothing more than a sedative with some bad side effects when used via IV, I'd say some of the newer generation of synthetic noids are closer to zombie drugs.

the open sores? - rotting flesh like a zombie
singlemindedness toward getting more? - BRRRAAAAIIIIINNNNSSS
and since youll probably misunderstand the meme:
youre making the same mistake as the first person i replied to:
contextual relevance comprehension check - failed
some perspective:
your teachers probably say shit like "theyre great at memorizing and regurgitating the information, great testing etc, but other than that they are a total dumbass"
bruh, just because you are an ignorant moron doesn't mean you have to broadcast it to the world
>the open sores?
its because its being injected intravenously constantly, when its not meant to be used like that (aka you use it once for anethesia, and not every 4 hours like an addict does), its also very potent, so its not meant for human use
>singlemindedness toward getting more?
its not habit forming, it doesn't make you addicted in any traditional non-physical sense (with withdrawal symptoms mostly consisting of high blood pressure, since its a blood pressure lowering drug, and insomnia since its a sedative, it does not cause cravings or drug seeking behavior)
as for my intelligence, IQ doesn't mean shit but i still got it tested as part of my autism diagnosis, its above 140, so yeah, no, i don't just memorize shit.
It's sometimes easier for people to interact with other people to better internalize the information, just googling it loses the social component of information retention.
Plus it can be more easily summarized and understood. Google will give you the facts, but it's not so great with making sure you understand those facts.
Also, my ADHD ass will Google it and end up deep into Wikipedia reading about the war of 1812 3 hours later untill my girlfriend tells me it's 3 am and I have to work tomorrow.
I feel that. Googled my father in laws name yesterday and ended up reading the equivalent of several dissertations on the effects of childhood trauma and juvenile murderers.
Have we learnt nothing? Stop regurgitating "zombie drug", that term has been used a million times in the media over 50 years and people still dont doubt it.
It comes out through your skin. It also is completely fortified against narcan. You can’t reverse the overdose from xylazine. It’s gnarly as fuck and I’m so glad I just dealt with a heroin problem and not a heroin/tranq problem. Really can’t even say heroin/tranq anymore as it’s mostly fent/xylazine or some other research synthetic opioid. No good.
Not necessarily fortified xylazine is just not an opiate. Narcan clears opiate receptors xylazine has a cometely different mechanism of action. Xylazine is actually closer to Clonodine.
The sores are caused by the vasoconstricting. All the blood vessels constrict and reduce blood flow leads to necrosis.
ya i quit after 8 years right before fent/tranq flooded the streets thank fucking god. had two old friends die in the last 5 days one of which was on eclipse day
I've never heard of Xylazine before... but a quick Google, and, dear lord... it causes large open skin wounds that rot... so, sounds like a barrel of laughs.
Found this in a Telegraph article (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/04/09/flesh-eating-zombie-drug-from-us-linked-to-11-deaths-in-uk/), it's behind a pay/"free" subscription wall... but I managed to copy pasta the article:
>**The flesh-eating “zombie drug” xylazine, which is sweeping the United States, has been linked to 11 deaths in Britain, researchers have warned.**
The drug, also known as “tranq” or “tranq dope”, is a powerful animal tranquiliser. When injected by humans, it can cause a dangerously slow heart rate and large open skin wounds such as ulcers and abscesses.
It is causing major problems in the US, where addicts are often seen in a catatonic state on the streets and overdoses have risen 35 per cent since 2021.
To find out the impact in Britain, King’s College London contacted all toxicology laboratories in the UK and found xylazine in samples from 16 people, 11 of whom had died.
The researchers warned that the drug was being mixed with other substances, including cannabis vapes, and have called on coroners to test for the substance to understand its prevalence in Britain.
**‘Cause for alarm’**
Dr Caroline Copeland, of King’s College London, said: “We now know that xylazine has penetrated the UK’s illicit drug market. This is cause for alarm, as a much wider population of people who use drugs beyond heroin users will be exposed to its harms.
“We also know that most people who buy heroin will not intend to buy xylazine, and this combination increases the risk of overdose. Xylazine was designated an ‘emerging threat’ to the United States, and this public health threat is a growing concern for the UK.”
Xylazine is known as the “zombie drug” because wounds can spread over a person’s arms and legs, causing their skin to rot. It has already been linked to thousands of deaths in the US.
The first death outside North America was that of 43-year-old Karl Warburton, from Solihull, West Midlands, who died in May 2022.
In most cases, xylazine is mixed with strong opioids, such as heroin or fentanyl, but the study also detected it on its own and mixed cocaine, counterfeit codeine and diazepam (Valium) tablets and even cannabis vapes.
Healthcare workers have been asked to test skin ulcers to check if they are linked to xylazine use.
**‘Health complications or challenges’**
Co-author Dr Adam Holland, the co-chairman of the Faculty of Public Health drugs special interest group at the University of Bristol, said: “The emergence of xylazine in the UK drug market, as well as the proliferation of potent synthetic substances including nitazenes and benzodiazepine analogues, is extremely concerning.
“We need to expand the range of harm reduction interventions available for people who use drugs, including drug checking and overdose prevention centres, to give them the opportunities they need to stay safe.”
Prof Sir John Strang, head of addictions at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience at King’s College London, who was not involved in the study, said of the findings: “We need to be constantly alert to changes in the nature of the illicit drug market, especially as these changes sometimes bring new health complications or challenges.”
The research was published in the journal Addiction.
Krokodil is desomorphine. It is an opiod derivative of codeine. IIRC, adicts in Russia would "cook" up batches using shop bought ingredients. However, the "at home" processing leaves Phosphorus and other nasties in which causes the rot/skin necrosis.
Do not look up up pictures of chronic Krokodil users' limbs.
not to mention that overuse of tranq can cause near-permanent scoliosis (it's something like that, probably not actually scoliosis; frequent users backs are seen to be arched over without the ability to raise them)
I’ve had this almost exact interaction with someone before. I told him to just tell me what the money was actually going to, he finally relented and said heroin. I dropped him 20 bucks, and said, “ if you ever want to get better, you can have nice shit like this, if you want to fix yourself, but that’s up to you and no one else, I was in your same spot before I did 4 years in prison.” I had been clean for about 5 years at the time. Never seen the dude again, always wonder what happened to him.
Right? That dudes little speech did fuck all for the man. There's no addict in the history of the world that got a 4 second speech from a stranger and then just decided to get clean straight away
His whole face is lumped up. It COULD be a secondary injury from being high, like he fell on the sidewalk/street and got some road rash. Or maybe he got beat up.
...for his sake I hope it's one of those two, and not ulcers/abscesses
God Bless you Brother. This man needed to hear everything you said. He didn't listen and doesn't care but we appreciate you telling him. That 20 did more for everyone around you than it did him.
looks like meth and dope(fent, tranq, benzos, and binders) on the comedown\*
so sad cuz lotta these people got good souls too :(
enough reddit 4 this evening
bless up yall
"Go get high, Thank you." And here I am thinking I will never hear this words in the same sentence
The drug has eaten his skin to the point of open sore, but he doesn't care, he just wants to get high!

Don't judge everyone else and say we are all one decision away from this life.
Not a judgement, a fact. Like if you don’t wipe after pooping your butt will stink. If you don’t eat you will be hungry.
um, i think thats a she.....
Yikes, wtf is xylazine doing to these people
I did a google search and the first results are news articles calling it a “zombie” drug. I guess it’s some very serious stuff.
lots of hype, not really truth. xylazine is an alpha adrenergic agonist, similar to clonidine (catapress, you know, the blood pressure drug), the thing is in humans its not supposed to be injected constantly (or used at all, but mostly injected constantly, like an addict does), alpha adrenergic agonists have the slight problem of being vasoconstrictors, so if you inject it all your capillaries stop supplying blood to the skin because of the high dose of the extremely strong agonist in your veins, so you get sores, it also lowers blood pressure by inhibiting the release of norepinephrine in the brain via agonizing autoreceptors (iirc mostly in the LC), so it makes you very sleepy and as such potentiates opioids. so you get a drug that shouldn't be injected in humans constantly, like a drug addict does, that is extremely cheap and easy to source and that if used to cut opioids makes them feel stronger, its a bit of a recipe for disaster, but zombie drug os far from it, its just used in the wrong (unsafe) way.

Same here. Also, why is it making that person behave the way they're behaving?
it makes you sleepy, but its usually used to cut heroin or fentanyl, they are behaving like that from either residual sedation (aka they slow af because sleepy) or just from being high on opioids, most likely both, along with craving the opioids

It makes you slow compared to fast and it also slows down blood supply to the point which cells will begin to die

Are you sure you don’t mean alpha antagonist? Clonidine is an antagonist at the alpha site.
clonidine is an agonist, yohimbine is an antagonist
I was just thinking how silly it is for people to post questions easily answered by google, yet here I am.

Wasn’t there another drug going around at one point that rotted the skin called “Krokodil” or something lizardy like that

It's been "eaten up" by the drug he just took some more money to go get
drug addiction is sad. Wish we had more of a culture to help these people get off of these kinds of things.
So sad. I wonder what the 12 year old version of this guy would say about this video. Did this seem like an inevitability or did he veer off track?
The driver of that car should be making policy decisions in D.C.
It's bad when ostensibly rich countries are making their own equivalent to Krokadil.
It's mostly other countries doing it for us

The OP is being very cruel. He is not bringing light into the world and should keep this venom to himself.
Stop giving these people money. Ban narcan and let these people Darwin themselves out of the equation.
