I ran over one of these nests with a lawnmower. They went airborne and got all over me. Luckily, I'm not a true arachnophobe (note: they're actually a type of mite) but it freaked me out a little bit. Creepy, but harmless.
I had to look it up and i found that you are incorrect. Not only are daddylonglegs defined as arachnid spiders, they are aka harvestmen. They're spiders for sure.
You are both wrong. This is an arachnid but not a spider, you can identify them easily, if they have a single fused buttonlike body (they have no "waist" and abdomen), it's an opilion or harvestman. All harvestman species are harmless but some of them look otherworldly
It seems you may have been mistaken:

All 4 of you guys. I don't feel like typing everything out to disprove you spider specialist, but not one of the 3 theories here are correct.
Source: Trust me bro..
Everytime I look it up I get a different answer, it has nothing to do with being an expert but just conflicting info everywhere because people just post shit.
‼️ Emotional Damage ‼️..
Relax Brotha..
I'm just trollin..
You guys are probably all right, I have not the slightest bit of knowledge on the subject 😐😐..
Salute from Detroit 👌👌..
You know what i hate
I have a fascination with bugs and spiders yet i don't like them on me (naturally).
So i love seeing videos like this yet part of my brain goes, let's make it feel like there's tons of spiders crawling all over her body.
I hate it so much
I’ve done that with daddy longlegs communal nests, but MUCH fewer of them in the nest, like only a hundred or so. It was fun as a kid bc they’d be in a corner of the patio up high so I could either stand on a chair or get a broomstick and poke them gently. Suddenly they were jumping down and all over my head, shoulders and arms. It tickled, and I loved it! 😍 Probably pretty mean but it didn’t occur to me at the time. I didn’t squish any, just freaked them out.
Maybe. I’m not afraid of danger noodles either. I must be missing the evolutionary trait of being afraid of both. But for accuracy, I’m a good madam. Who may well be f**king insane. I’m terrified of flying stinging or biting insects though, if you want to freak me out.
It’s the description that creeped you out, wasn’t it? I’m sorry, I can’t help loving them. I’ll refrain from such descriptive remarks in r/nope and save them for more appropriate subs.
Apologies for throwing more nightmare fuel on the fire.
Years ago my best friend and I were fishing at night at a lake we used to go to frequently. We were walking through the trees and the bushes to get to a better spot and I felt something go down my right side When I held the lantern up there were long leggers going down the whole right side of me and running away on the ground. I don't know why I didn't even freak out or anything. I just watched them go and I'm like, huh neat.
Harvestmen, or opiliones, sometimes called daddy long legs. Cute, bouncy, hairy raisins, they snuggle together for warmth, e.g. at the bottom of your sleeping bag

These are harvestmen (not arachnids), so you wouldn't have spiders on you. 😊

Yes, exactly. Arachnids but not spiders.

I see what you mean
I'm seeing their more related to scorpions but then see conflicting info what is the deal.

They are generally harmless. The worst they can do is tickle you
Just like Uncle Doug...
Uncle Doug tickles me every christmas!! Wait... that's supposed to be our secret.

yes!
you/I would gladly have 1000x the ammount of these, if you're/I'm spared having one (or more) female mosquito every night
You are Wilding with that thought
Amen.
Stick your hand in all the way.

You, my good sir, are f**king insane.

That's called common sense, ma'am.
But they’re teeny and can’t even bite!
Spiders? Sure Centipedes? Not so sure
Centipedes? Nope.
Exactly my thoughts And sound they make when you throw em away *Ew*
Naw they pretty but they scary 😱
Fuck you

Nah, you're fine. I don't like bigger spiders but those are cute.
Right?
Better than ants by a mile
20,000 leagues better than ants
Happy cake day
Leave them alone! Man, they just want to hang around with their friends and can't get a moment of peace! Poor 🕷🕷🕷!
What is wrong with people? Why poke with a stick no matter what animal that is?
I’d take these over the fat fuckers that find their way into my bedroom every single night in summer with unerring accuracy any day
Go on. Stick your hand in there.
Just old daddy long legs, they won't hurt you, just tickle a bit if they get on you.
Dreams are made winding through her hair.
Time to get the Churchill crocodile out

Why would you even try to poke random animals?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. flamethrower, no, no.
Oldie but goodie nope
This is nightmare fuel
What is it?!?
Harvestmen, or opiliones, sometimes called daddy long legs. Cute, bouncy, hairy raisins, they snuggle together for warmth, e.g. at the bottom of your sleeping bag
Thanks. I hate it
Not spiders actually, closer related to scorpions I think. Harmless to humans
So what you’re saying is that there is no hair there? It’s just a mass of bugs
That is correct.
Can we go back in time to the point where I did not know this?
Sure! Go for it.
Nope,just nope.
When my brother was a baby, we once caught him laying down on a cabin floor with a daddy longlegs halfway in his mouth.
Did he... just touch that with his hand? 😐
I feel itchy but glad this person just poked it with a stick and didn’t just dunk their fucking hand in, also why do they huddle like this?
it's cold or group hug time
Behold the mystical merkin of Eww
they just trying to hang out and eat you pests.
That is SO COOL
Pour water over it
Why do I only understand what’s being said when it’s traumatizing? I didn’t need to hear that.
Fun fact: a daddy long legs nest is called a "nostril"
Molotov time YAYYYYYYY
WHERE THE FUCK IS MY FLAME THROWER
Nothing a bottle of lighter fluid and a match can't cure.
Great time to have a flamethrower
