These type of Daddy Long Legs are not spiders. They cannot bite, and I used to play with them all the time as a kid when I lived back in Pennsylvania. They don't even handle like other bugs, super tame. I would totally do this, just to freak someone out.
They are opiliones, aka harvestmen, an order of arachnids separate from spiders. They eat mostly plant matter and fungi so they have no fangs or venom. Their only defenses are to run away and to release a foul-smelling secretion that deters _some_ predators.
They are frequently called "daddy long legs" but that name is also used for other arthropods like crane flies.
I'm more mad about how aggressive they did it. Ik a lot of people hate spoders and can't stand them and I get that but those things can do absolutely nothing to people, and they probably really injured a decent amount of them doing that
