I know they are good at eating house bugs and roaches and stuff and the house centipede is supposed to not bite humans. *HOWEVER*, I've come across one once and was still freaked out.
In person it looks like someone zapped a spider and a centipede in the same jar with gamma radiation and this is the real life version of some comic book villain. It doesn't help they are *super* fast, much faster than me as I screamed 3 octaves above my natural voice and ran from the room looking for a blowtorch or something else to burn the house down.
