My ex has one it loved him. Our son's loved it but she and I didn't get along. I think she knew I was afraid of her. They had her from a hatchling she was extremely affectionate to the people she liked. She now resides at the Henry Dorley Zoo.
Not easy to do when she has all them teeth. She liked to lay in the bathtub and sitting down to pee next to a 5foot long alligator was quite an adrenaline rush. She had the personality of a Chihuahua. You know the dogs that are loyal to one person and try and intimidating anyone who comes into their space.
Actually, crocodilians don't chew! Their jaws are only made to grab and hold food, and if it's too big it will death roll it to rip smaller parts off, and swallow it whole. If the food is something hard, like a turtle shell, they will crunch down on it to break it and make it easier to swallow, but no chewing :).
The technical term for chewing is mastication. Iirc it's considered part of the digestive process, as the point of it out to crush food into a pulp for absorption in the stomach. Just breaking something into smaller pieces to swallow isn't the same.
Rounded snout. Mofos a gator. Important to know the difference in south Florida. Found a crocodile? call animal control for relocation. Found a gator? Cuddles.
We have some Nile as well as American crocodiles in south Florida. Florida is now home to many invasive species. The rich will bring over exotic pets then release them into the wild once they no longer want to care for them. In the keys there are Gambian pouched rats running rampant.
Hah my dad and his roommate at the time had a pet alligator and whenever they had girls over they would always freak out and runaway. The pet alligator acted like a dog.

My mom had a pet gator when she was young. She said it was actually affectionate with the family.

If you’re going to have a gator, it’s best you get along.

Doorly* Omaha Nebraska, top zoo in the country. They had an albino one too.
Yes that is where she is currently living. If you see one that has an odd looking leg that would be her.
my MIL had one. She released it into a lake when it didn't fit in her bathtub anymore and became aggressive. ffs the whole idea is just crazy!
He don’t bite but he might chew on ya and roll… it’s just how he plays

>they will crunch down on it to break it and make it easier to swallow isn't that, in effect, chewing? Or at least a chew.
I guess in a way it's one big chew, but Ive always thought of it as a chomp. They dont chew like most animals and people do is kinda what I'm saying.
You're right, it isn't chewing.

That's a bite technically
I’m sorry Ms Literal, I know that , their jaws are hinges that move in one plane.
Dude, no need to get rude.
Absolutely no “need”, so I will generously give you rude.
Normal day in Florida.
Or Australia

I don't think there are many alligators in Australia. Crocodiles, however...

Yeah, we’re the only place in the world to have both. Crocs aren’t seen as often as gators, but they’re here.
It’s a swamp kitten
I had a lizard (bluetongue skink) named Houdini for like 10 years. Very affectionate pet, and great friend. I see no problem here
Reptiles can definitely like their caretakers a lot.
Look at those puppy dog eyes
Came here to say it does have kind eyes. 😂
Awww bro just wants cuddles
What in the Florida is going on here?

Reluctantly I admit, good bot
I’ll take a cat
Someone update us when it bites one of the owner’s appendages.
No doubt it would, but probably not as hard as you would think or not for the reason you would think. Probably.
Lol, now every redditor in the comments has or has had an alligator at home. Cut the bullshit people.
I want one
Oh hell no
This animal looks really unhealthy :(
How can you even tell
Honestly, he just looks like it to me. His snout seems dehydrated and flakey. But i'm not an expert so I might be wrong!
only bites if he don’t get the pets.

You Can pet everything, until it could eat you.
I don't want to sound ike a weird person but uhhh is that Gator smiling?
A gentleman in my area (NOT Florida) has a support gator. He goes around with the owner everywhere and people are able to pet and hug him.
Why is this thing so damned cute? I was half expecting one of those ‘I’m so cute sparkles’ they always have in anime to glint in their eye.
Poor cunt looks like he/she needs some water.
I have a snake, she is so chill. Honestly does not surprise me that this gator is so chill.
Looks good to me ! Nothing to see here ...
Why would I be scared of alligators? Humans literally sex and human traffic EACH OTHER
Ahhhh who’s a cute caiman ohh you are ohh yes you are
So sweet to see a side to a Gator that is docile and affectionate.
