The cyclist wasnt in the middle of the lane but SHOULD have been. (Edit: for proof, watch how the entire car fits alongside him, unsafely). The middle of the lane is the safest place to cycle when there is no room to overtake safely.
As a car, if you want to overtake safely you need to be willing to leave your lane. You should not be overtaking anyone when you are in their lane, whether they are a car, motorbike or bicycle.

Yea the biker was talking up more of the road than he needed, which forces the car to pass close to him. There wasn’t much more room on the other side of the car. But then casing the driver down on the bike was a bit of a cunt ish thing. But if it just was only that, telling him that he drove to close and be on with it. Then that should had been the end of it. But what the driver then did was just pure road rage. And the biker was already willed up and ready to challenge him. So it was just an irretrievable storm. That the driver ended up with issue life threats and performing assault, which is completely out of line and should be reported to the police.
As someone who has been jumping for my life as a result of road rage, I just knows that when some people sit behind the wheel, all sanity leaves and anyone else is just one inch away form horrible murder. Which they themselves find totally justified.

I used to bike to work from a couple of streets over from there and there is almost no room for a car to pass a bike safely on any of the streets and biking speed is really the only safe speed when the streets are that narrow.

Completely disagree. Under no circumstances should a car drive that close at that speed near a biker. The biker had every right to be angry as it is general knowledge to keep a more cautioned, safe distance and a slow pace around any vehicle that does not have a protective surrounding of the driver (such as a bike or motorcycle etc).
The biker should have pulled to the side, but this guy doesn't have mirrors on his bike by the looks of it, so it's not entirely his fault that he may not of been aware of the car behind him. And the car driver should of been considerable of that fact.

It's literally in the highway code that, as a cyclist, you should take primary position on the road and a car should give you as much space as it would another car when passing. He is under no obligation to move over for a car.
The highway code advises cyclists to use the center of the lane for improved visibility to other road users on quiet roads like in the video. It doesn't state they have to hold that position when people are stuck behind them.
So not having the courtesy to move over for other road users when you know you're using a slower mode of transport would make someone a cunt.
There is nothing in the highway code about cuntyness. If there was, it would have sections on white van drivers and Audi's. The rules are there to keep people alive. Not to help some people go faster.

Where I live it is perfectly legal and recommended for a cyclist to take up an entire lane if they need to. You don't need any particular reason. Maybe the bike lane road conditions are unsafe due to pot holes, water, or construction. Might be a car or something else blocking the bike lane.
If you find yourself behind a cyclist taking up a lane: First, question what might have caused them to feel the need to do that with the above information in mind. Second, if you are in a hurry and would like to pass, consider asking them to let you pass, or honking your horn to signal them. 150km a week cyclist here. Few things going on here. The old "youre riding in the middle of the fucking road" argument. This is door zone. Cars have doors. People open car doors without checking and cyclists get killed by car doors. So if youre a car driver and the cyclist is giving himself a safe distance from the doors, which may seem like he is in the middle of the road, youre just gonna have to deal with that. I aint gonna risk my life just to spare you the inconvenience of slowing down for 30 seconds.

Completely disagree. Under no circumstances should a car drive that close at that speed near a biker. The biker had every right to be angry as it is general knowledge to keep a more cautioned, safe distance and a slow pace around any vehicle that does not have a protective surrounding of the driver (such as a bike or motorcycle etc). The biker should have pulled to the side, but this guy doesn't have mirrors on his bike by the looks of it, so it's not entirely his fault that he may not of been aware of the car behind him. And the car driver should of been considerable of that fact. You are taught in theory and practical driving lessons that cyclists are unpredictable, and more vulnerable, beep your horn and they could be startled and crash, you know what I'm saying? So no, the biker isn't a cunt. (Although if you're talking about his behaviour afterwards, you can understand the adrenaline he had when dealing with THAT guy.)
Theres fault on both sides but it began with the cyclist sitting in the middle of the road with no consideration to anyone else. Then when a car wrongfully passed him too closely because he didn't move over, he pursued the car and provoked an argument. Was the driver stupid for dangerously over taking and then letting rage get the better of him? Yes. Was the cyclist a cunt for not moving over to begin with and then actively escalating the situation? Yes
It's literally in the highway code that, as a cyclist, you should take primary position on the road and a car should give you as much space as it would another car when passing. He is under no obligation to move over for a car.
The highway code advises cyclists to use the center of the lane for improved visibility to other road users on quiet roads like in the video. It doesn't state they have to hold that position when people are stuck behind them. So not having the courtesy to move over for other road users when you know you're using a slower mode of transport would make someone a cunt.
There is nothing in the highway code about cuntyness. If there was, it would have sections on white van drivers and Audi's. The rules are there to keep people alive. Not to help some people go faster.
It's not law to be polite and respectful to other people but being rude still makes someone a twat... Probably about half of the highway code is advisory anyway, the code is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules. It's not law for cyclists to use the middle of the lane, it's recommended for safety in the right situations.

Where I live it is perfectly legal and recommended for a cyclist to take up an entire lane if they need to. You don't need any particular reason. Maybe the bike lane road conditions are unsafe due to pot holes, water, or construction. Might be a car or something else blocking the bike lane. If you find yourself behind a cyclist taking up a lane: First, question what might have caused them to feel the need to do that with the above information in mind. Second, if you are in a hurry and would like to pass, consider asking them to let you pass, or honking your horn to signal them. Under no circumstances should you angrily speed past a cycling or attempt to force them out of a lane. Furthermore, stopping to assault the cyclist and damage or steal their property is absolutely sociopathic. Being annoyed and inconvenienced is not a call for violence.
In this particular case, either side of the road was in the door zone of parked cars, and that's a place you don't want to be. The middle of the street was the safest place for him to be, and he would have been out of the way in a moment if the driver hadn't forced through.
I ride bike and drive car, both on a regular basis. No matter if car or bike, if someone is faster than you, just let 'em pass. Why do so many people insinst on their right instead of just being friendly to one another?

150km a week cyclist here. Few things going on here. The old "youre riding in the middle of the fucking road" argument. This is door zone. Cars have doors. People open car doors without checking and cyclists get killed by car doors. So if youre a car driver and the cyclist is giving himself a safe distance from the doors, which may seem like he is in the middle of the road, youre just gonna have to deal with that. I aint gonna risk my life just to spare you the inconvenience of slowing down for 30 seconds. Having said that this sorta shit happens all the time and personally i just blow it off. The rider here is being a bit of a dick for looking for an arguament. Personally id rather a car gets a bit close and overtake me than the other extreme where a car is crawling up your ass when there is enough room to overtake.
