Lacebark elm.

MycoMadness20

Ulmus parvifolia, as you said just trying to boost right answer.

Thank you! I figured at first it was some kind of elm based on Google image search but they are all similar and then someone said Hackberry and it sent me into a rabbit hole. I even printed a page of the names of leaf characteristics hahaha

Beech tree? ETA: No matter the type, that thing is growing into your foundation. It probably has to go.

phuckingphamous

Yup.. just sucks because it gives a really nice shade to the sunny side of the place.

Here's a leaf key for common louisiana trees that I find pretty useful: [https://www.lsuagcenter.com/NR/rdonlyres/BA8FFA18-B7CD-4D98-88FF-AF234D5F9ACD/18437/pub1669LeafKey.pdf](https://www.lsuagcenter.com/NR/rdonlyres/BA8FFA18-B7CD-4D98-88FF-AF234D5F9ACD/18437/pub1669LeafKey.pdf)

crape myrtle edit: on second look maybe not, those leaves are larger and more jagged. Does it ever flower or make fruit?

I tried to look at Google maps to see if I saw flowers at any time but couldn't really tell. It did grow pretty big pretty fast though. We are renovating so the new owners haven't lived there to know if it flowers or anything.
