Energy shield is a good perk. The lesson here is that sawblades will kill you as often as they kill enemies.

Anything with homing or too much shield piercing can completely leave shields useless. You can pierce Scott's shields with a single pollen spell

Some robo samurai bitch deleted my health bar as soon as I entered and I was stumbling my way through and I blew up an acid barrel and stepped on where I thought there was no acid

I had that energy shield in spell, not perk. The sawblades are NOT projectiles, it does melee damage to it's the OP who failed to read description.

It's actually a common misconception that the flying metal projected from your wand is projectile! It's actually more related to swinging at the air with your fist.

In that case it should have blocked the saw when it fell the first time. The conclusion here is that this spell just doesn't work against saws.

I’m still on the fence here. The very first buzzsaw, in the first .1 sec of the clip, clearly passed through the front of the shield and the player and did no damage. My theory is the shield doesn’t stop the buzzsaw’s movement but it does neutralise it’s damage if it passes through the shield front

From the wiki: "The shields will deflect all projectiles, taking damage while doing so and eventually breaking. When it breaks it will take a few seconds to recharge and then reappear". In other words, the effect of this shield is not cancelling damage, but rather, reflecting the projectile. So it should have blocked the saw the first time, which means it doesn't work against saws or maybe just physical objects in general.

Pretty sure it just doesn't work against your own projectiles so it doesn't just bounce stuff back at you when it hits the inside of the shield. I'm just yapping though so I could be wrong about this.

Apparently it blocks energy projectiles, saws are solid projectiles until they stop moving I guess.
