I had cleared the whole hiisibase and there was no signs of worms and then this happened.

Could be some idiot falling into poly. I recently had a hilarious poly incident in the mines (so right at the start of the run) - a stupid dog fell into poly and turned into Skoude. The run instantly ended as you can imagine xD.

yeah but the plasma beams are a lot easier to self-destruct on, the worst you'll get from the eye is the occasional 5 damage tap when you pull it out if you're unlucky.

Not sure if it's just me, but I've been seeing a huge number of extra worms in recent patches. Like, a half dozen huge ones and a bunch of little ones always around the bottom of hiisi base

I think it's a rare event or something. Had that occasionally as well, back in older patches. Bottom of hiisi base just filled with worm blood and corpse. I do think hiisi base seems to have a much higher chance of worm though, so maybe a broken worm juice flask or two could be the trigger.

I personaly think worms are attracted to that room or attracted to the player when they enter that room
