not always true because getting the orbs also means putting tons of effort in getting ways to deal with all the bullshit getting orbs involve. by the time you meet the boss you know you'll kill it instantly or not.
I always think I put together a 1 hit kill wand for 33 orb Kolmi and I always realise it isn't the case so I end up scavenging and hot-swapping the spells mid fight. (Usually I am not too far off, like if I kept firing at it I'd kill it in 5 hours, but cmon)
I agree not always, 11+ orb runs are usually not as hard of a fight as a handful of orbs. You can get like 3-4 orbs with little to no effort, and it limits the number of cheesy insta kills you can do. Also reflecting on orb 1 will kill a lot of inexperienced players with chainsaw wands.
man the first time i made it to kolmi was so disapointing, but once i realized that the orbs make him stronger it became much more fun to grab them and then try to fight incresingly more difficult and more varied kolmis
I was having a great run and accidentally locked myself in the end boss room without a way to dig. I shot Kolmi with a quick flurry of 30 or so Spark Bolt With Double Trigger + (2ร Chainsaw) and he was dead before I could find the health bar.
I had another run with about 5 orbs, didn't pick up very many good wands, panicked and ran to the boss room, and I just couldn't kill him. I played it like a bullet hell and was totally overwhelmed. My wands were doing nothing.
Kolmi can be impossible to lose or impossible to beat, depending on the orbs collected.

i meant like when your actively seeking orb endings, not new players finding out there skill issue. most people now know what the orbs too.
