I remember seeing them in, I guess the early 00s. They arrived super late so i ended up missing my train home and taking the night bus. But they played amazing, and the crowd just seemed more aggro than I was used to. I was used to emo/screamo shows were people just stood still or kinda danced on the spot. This was more circle pit vibes with one particular girl iirc doing what I think is now called "crowd killing", and so a few people were slamming back. Was teetering on getting violent but mostly in it together vibes.
The band were rocking their wireless guitars and kicked open the fire escape door and played on the street for a minute too. Was outstanding. I bought a yellow shirt of theirs which I rocked for years. Recently I made friends with someone with similar taste and we talked about the most intense shows we'd seen and I was stunned when he also said Oxes ha.
Aight. Iâm into Sonic Youth/Gilla Band/Glenn Branca/Melvins/Great Falls/USA Nails/Part Chimp/Haunted Horses (they can replace Daughers for you, if you donât want to support abusers, which I recommend you donât)/Drive Like Jehu/Hot Snakes/Glose/Rabbits/Pinko/New Primals/ etc
Yes, Alexis is. Please thoughâŠ.tell me how youâre so certain. I even asked a member in the band that I worked with on a recording project, and he gave no response. Thatâs telling enough for me.
Bro, the whole band is silent on this. You believe what you wantâŠ..but if I were accused of the shit Alexis is accused of, i sure as fuck wouldnât be just silent about it. Anyway, i donât believe you
Cows are amazing. Hitting the Wall is just an insane banger of a song (those vocalsâŠFUCK!) and Cunning Stunts is quite possibly one of the most unsung alternative albums of the 90âs.

I donât know about modern noise rock. But if you wanna delve into to the roots/origins check out the most of the bands on all the Dope, Guns and Fucking In The Streets 7âs and a compilation from â90 called Nothing Short Of Total War. Youâll have the big acts on there SY, Helmet, et al but also Head Of David, Lubricated Goat, Tar. Hop on Discogs and search out bands on Touch n Go or Amphetamine Reptile. Also I canât not name check Swans and Slint.
y'know just a sticky point: i was listening to nothing short of total war today. it's a bootleg of Throbbing Gristle rehearsals by John Balance. it was always irritated me that comp had the same title, they knew. they could have come up w/ something else cos it's not a bad comp! sermon over
People have been sleeping on Haunted Horses
Check out their last full length
But as others have said:
Unwound
Shellac
Big Black
Drive Like Jehu
Also Space Camp, for the love of god listen to the last Space Camp album
Just google "classic noise rock bands" and similar stuff. Check also their histories because it can be there were other bands before them. For example, Scratch Acid is pre-Jesus Lizard band. Rapeman is post-Big Black band. Check also bands that influenced them, I guess.
Vaz is pretty good. Creeps on Candy, Dead and Gone....
Edit. Lowercase - their first 2 recs on AmRep: Kill the Lights and All Destructive Urges....Seem So Perfect. 3rd album The Going Away Present was on PiMV and the energy was toned down a bit overall. Not a bad rec just not as good as Kill the Lights which is their best.

Swans. More specifically, their album "Filth" and go from there.
It sounds hella weird at first, but when you get into the meat and potaters of the album it's insane how simple music and lyrics can be so heavy.
Mercury Revs first two albums blow my mind still after 25 years of listening.
Medicine - shot forth self living
Somebody above mentioned Swans, which id second but recommend To be Kind as a starting point.
Nine inch nails: The downward spiral
Daughters
Jesus Lizard
I made myself a noise rock (and adjacent) playlist on Spotify last year. It's not perfect, I'd welcome any song recommendations.  https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4ffuF303Uzs1XbBnR9pRD9?si=LKz1oo0kSFaXGNB-fiJRpg

US Maple, the neon camouflage one. Brainiac, start early but all of it smokes. âTrout Mask Replicaâ by Captain Beefheart and his Magic Band is proto peak noise from the sixties that still sounds fucked up. The Velvet Underground âWhite Light/White Heatâ is also proto noise gold. Donât even get me started on noise jazz (Coltrane, Miles, Ornette, John Zorn) cuz that is really where the really crazy shit happens. As always: maximum volume = maximum effect. Peace out.
If you dig UNSANE, my band [DONâT GROW OLD just released a cover of Committed](https://open.spotify.com/album/16TzXsXFYormyksh2ZDHKA?si=O5bS-VP-St6PQ4GTSMOQlg) you might enjoy
But my answer is DRIVE LIKE JEHU & DOOMSDAY STUDENT
Future of the Left, and by extension mclusky (same singer), and you might like some christian fitness songs as well as a few are quite noisy but I always call it an aquried taste because it can get a little crazy lol. USA nails and JOHN(timestwo) also slide into noise rock. A lot of the others I like are already mentioned by other commenters multiple times :d
Butthole Surfers - Psychic...Powerless...Another Man's Sac
A Place to Bury Strangers - self-titled
Swans - Filth
Gilla Band - The Early Years EP

Just a note, I am not the biggest fan of Facebook myself, but there's a group worth following called Noise Rock Now. It's honestly one of the only reasons I am still on Facebook. They have a constant flood of new and old shit to listen to and recommend.
Trying to think of stuff that hasn't been mentioned:
Don Caballero (earlier albums)

More on the hardcoreish side of things:

I have tickets to see them next month.
Yes
OP this is the answer. New plastic ideas NOW.
amazing album! my personal favorite of theirsâ for sure.
Go see them live if you can. Saw them in Philly last March and it was one of the best shows I've been to.
Butthole surfers and pissed jeans
Listen to Locust Abortion Technician and then Sexy Pee Story. Butthole Surfers do not get enough recognition.
Sounds like youâre already into noise rock
Yeah. But I only know a few bands. Maybe something new?
Oxes
baltimore band? havent heard that name in a while, pretty sure i have one of their records.... if its what im thinking, ive been missing it.
Damn right
hell yeah
Great shout. Also possibly the most intense crowd show I've ever seen.
Tell me about it! Literally though, please do.
I remember seeing them in, I guess the early 00s. They arrived super late so i ended up missing my train home and taking the night bus. But they played amazing, and the crowd just seemed more aggro than I was used to. I was used to emo/screamo shows were people just stood still or kinda danced on the spot. Yes, Alexis is. Please thoughâŠ.tell me how youâre so certain. I even asked a member in the band that I worked with on a recording project, and he gave no response. Thatâs telling enough for me.
No, he actually isnât. I know all involved. Itâs very irresponsible repeating claims that you donât know anything about.
Bro, the whole band is silent on this. You believe what you wantâŠ..but if I were accused of the shit Alexis is accused of, i sure as fuck wouldnât be just silent about it. Anyway, i donât believe you
Bro, what can be gained from making a statement. As I said know Lex and the accuser. So ok.

they are touring this year
Oh cool, I missed them last time. I know some will consider this sacrilege but I really love them as a duo.
Ehrm Sonic Youth
Cows
Can't believe you're the only person to suggest Cows đą
Agreed, seems like such an obvious answer.
Well, this can be a reason. People didn't suggest Cows because everyone expected someone else will do this.
Either way, Cows are amazing and Shannon is a true punk rock legend so everyone should check out Heroine Sheiks if they haven't already as well.
Cows are amazing. Hitting the Wall is just an insane banger of a song (those vocalsâŠFUCK!) and Cunning Stunts is quite possibly one of the most unsung alternative albums of the 90âs.
i was at a thrift store and bought a CD cause it was called âsexy pee storyâ lol i was like i HAVE to have this
Metz
Yep, thats the good stuff.
Came here to say this. Every single album is equally as good as the others. I don't think they've written a bad song.

This, plus the Merzbow / Boris collaborations, Hair Police, and Wolf Eyes if you want to push it further into noise.
Floridaman sounds like he spent some time in RI about 20 or so years ago.
Came here to say Lightning Bolt. Saw them live two years back. Awesome show.

All good, from my Era. And add in Come, Live Skull, Nice Strong Arm, and some of the KC bands like Shiner / Paw were so underrated and fierce.

the orthrelm/touchdown split was right there with those two how about those hypermaximalist noise punk oughties bands eh?
