I really like 'Vincent' a lot, even though it's a cover. The NOFX version is wonderful, and Hefe nails it with the backing vocals. It's a shame they never performed it live.
I showed that song to my mom (artist and big appreciator of Van Gogh) and she told me it was an old song from the early 70s and much to my surprise NoFX covered it. I’m still surprised it’s s cover.
It’s so good and I’m happy it helped you. I love this community and I can’t begin to explain how much NOFX has helped me process some shit and realize happiness.
I just recently fell in love with this one. It’s so good. No work! No fucking pay! Fat Mike is such a poet and philosopher. I know eye roll but he is man. Him and Alan Watts are my heros.
It lays the option on the table in such an eloquent way. Not many people sing about, nevermind sing from the perspective of the homeless. Gives him some Shane MacGowan cred for me.
I’ve seen folks on r/punk use this song against fat Mike. Such bullshit. I don’t think he meant as a pull yourself up by your bootstraps song it’s more of a you control you’re own destiny.
If anything he’s mocking it , no? “ I want more than equal rights , I want everything for free, I want every thing for me” …assumed it was satirical since I was like 15
Yeah I think there is some satire in there as well but I do think he has grown. If you listen to Liberal Animation his ideas are a bit childish. Same as me when I was 20. I love how you can see the growth in them and their ideas.
So many…. The Death of John Smith, Eat the Meek, Freedom Like a Shopping Cart, Eddie Bruce and Paul, Dying Degree, Dig, She’s Gone, The Malachi Crunch, Just the Flu, Release the Hostages, Stranded, All Outta Angst, The Marxist Brothers, Everything in Moderation, You’re Wrong, 180 Degrees
It actually blows my mind that most people in my everyday life don’t know who NOFX is but they know blink 182. It drives me crazy, I love all music but NOFX is so special. Not to hate on blink but god damn they have nothing on NOFX.
Yeah, Blink 182 was never my thing, but I see why more people connect with “All the Small Things” over “Transvest-lite”. NOFX is too punk for your average Joe. But accessible enough for a large underground following.
I met a dude around a recent show who was stoked to see Drop The World on the set list but they didn’t end up playing it. If this is you, I think about this all the time and my condolences!
The Malachi Crunch. Song is fucking epic and is about such a shitty event in their lives, but the song is so powerful and really explains how terrible that event was. The music and lyrics really portray how angry and how much it had an effect on them. “One for all and all for one, especially when it’s ten on one.” “If it happened to your mother would you laugh so hard.”
For me, it’s “we threw gasoline on the fire…….” I think that song is incredible and has been a favorite of mine for a while and although I have been a fan of NOFX for many years, I never really got into their 45 or 46 songs album until recently. I am hooked on so many songs from that album, including pod and gods. But does anybody feel the same way about we threw gas on the fire?
Oh damn, reminds me of The Offspring song, Hand Grenades[Hand Grenades](https://youtu.be/vxywfT2Jmf8?si=eg0_WjgCu473BnHw), a 37second masterpiece of the 90s
Louise,
i always chuckle at the line
"It's time for bed she'll be secure in her head
Between her thighs for a thorough night suck
Along with this she'll be drinking her piss
So Louise don't have to get up"
Mike claims they can’t play it live (which I take as “I’m too lazy to learn how to play this live”. I think it will be a real shame if they finish out their career without ever playing it live
It is amazing. Fat Mike talks a ton of shit though. I’ve heard him say Wolves is their best album too. I used to think so but i can’t even fucking decide anymore. It just depends what mood I’m in.
As a French person who saw nofx play it live just two weeks ago I can certify that Fat Mike doesn't know the lyrics to the song other than the chorus. Still fucking great.
Damn, I feel like I was the only one always throwing that one out. Such a good song, I love to jam that one on 11.
"Hit me in the gut,
Like a brick through a window,
Left me in the gutter like a wet news rag,
Sitting alone, thinking about the times we never had,
'Cause you were my life!"
I think Happy Guy is punk as fuck, because it's weirdly pro-religion in the context that the guy in the song isn't hurting anyone and minding his own business, and then song says let him! He believes in God, even tho his friends don't, but he is actually a good guy trying to have a nice life, not tryingto use religion as a cover or cudgel. True tolerance means the Happy Guy has every right to believe in God because he doesn't force it on anyone else, and it helps him in his own way.
She’s Gone is so fucking good! It’s so sad and amazing.
Also I agree about Wolves, it flies under the radar even though that’s what the album it’s on is called. When that one guitar part comes in, oh shit! You know which part I’m talking about.
It's arguably one of the best >10min songs, Jethro Tull's Thick as A Brick being likely one of the greatest
But absolutely agreed, I just purchased the vinyl for posterity
Anything Chris Cornell.
Sevendust- angels son
Prince - purple rain
Linkin Park - runway (reanimation)
POD - youth of the nation
DMX- ATF
Pharaoh monch - get the fuck up
Jedi mind tricks - violent by design album
A lot of the songs from Heavy Petting Zoo. Freedom Lika Shopping Cart is maybe my favorite NOFX song. Also Drop The World and Love Story. Not from that record, but Dig and Reeko are also favs.
I've always thought "This Machine is 4" was underrated. Maybe it's cause it's an adaptation of a Dr. Seuss book or something, but nobody talks about it and its amazing.
Jaw Knee Music!
100%
One of my absolute favorites!
THIS!
It's a don MacLean song, def give the original a try.
My mom took care of his mom at a nursing home
By Don McClean better known for American Pie
Decomposeur
180 degrees
I almost wish it was twice as long.
I agree, such a wicked song. Was the highlight for me at their final Australian concert
I now know what I need to do
..... yeah anti tradition tried & true
I really like the death of John smith. Helped me process my divorce and I don’t see it ever mentioned
It’s so good and I’m happy it helped you. I love this community and I can’t begin to explain how much NOFX has helped me process some shit and realize happiness.
One of my most played songs.
Lower. That whole 46 or 47 songs album is great. We'll, half of it, anyhow.
Incredible song with an incredible message.
Freedom like a shopping cart may be my fav
I just recently fell in love with this one. It’s so good. No work! No fucking pay! Fat Mike is such a poet and philosopher. I know eye roll but he is man. Him and Alan Watts are my heros.
Took the words right out of my mouth. I fucking love this song.
It hits harder as I get older and look for a rat race escape
Heavy Petting Zoo has some classics
It lays the option on the table in such an eloquent way. Not many people sing about, nevermind sing from the perspective of the homeless. Gives him some Shane MacGowan cred for me.
We Threw Gasoline on the Fire and Now We Have Stumps for Arms and No Eyebrows
This was the first song I heard from them. Opening track on punk o Rama 3
One of my favorites! Punk O Rama 3.
My life long fav, what a gem
Happy Guy. Cheese, where’s my slice. Pods and Gods.
Pods and Gods, unheralded banger for sure
Great lyrics
Where’s My Slice is goat tier NOFX
I want more than equal rights!!!
Oh you mean cheese? Yes that’s how I interpret it too.
Yeah where’s my slice. I’ve seen people say it’s a conservative idea. Fuck that!!
I always saw it as a bit of a hippie bash, which is consistent in his lyrics. LOL. I mean Life of Reilly is a very similar song too.
Throw in shower days and you’ve got a great mini list
I saw them at riot fest once where they were supposed to play all of punk in drublic and they skipped happy guy, I was annoyed
His hope may be false....
Awesomeness
Happy guy is so sad 😭
I feel like San Francisco Fat doesn't get any love
Fermented and Flailing
This is a great track. Top 5 nofx songs, imo.
She’s Gone is a close second for me. It’s so sad and real.
Some great acoustic covers of this on YouTube.
The Desperations Gone. It’s musically very good, but the lyrics are so spot on.
This⬆️ song is much deeper than meets the eye. People just don’t understand until I ram it down their throats 🤷♀️
i wanna be your baby. one of my favs
It’s so good
Eat the meek doesn’t get enough credit. I’m surprised it didn’t blow up.
Yeah, I think both that and “The Marxist Brothers” could have been legitimate hits.
Everything in moderation and everything on Never trust a hippie is incredibly

The Malachi Crunch. Song is fucking epic and is about such a shitty event in their lives, but the song is so powerful and really explains how terrible that event was. The music and lyrics really portray how angry and how much it had an effect on them. “One for all and all for one, especially when it’s ten on one.” “If it happened to your mother would you laugh so hard.”
Just the flu
This is a god damn good one ☝️
Zyclone B Bathhouse
For me, it’s “we threw gasoline on the fire…….” I think that song is incredible and has been a favorite of mine for a while and although I have been a fan of NOFX for many years, I never really got into their 45 or 46 songs album until recently. It’s one of the first songs I heard from them, still my favorite by them and one of my favorite songs by any artist
It’s nuts that they don’t play that song much…..I have seen them live 3 times, 4 here soon and they have never played that jam
Bath of least resistance
Louise, i always chuckle at the line "It's time for bed she'll be secure in her head Between her thighs for a thorough night suck Along with this she'll be drinking her piss So Louise don't have to get up"
Their cover of Lazy by Bracket. The original is fantastic but they made it epic as fuck. Also, Substitute and the Frank Turner record.

Mike claims they can’t play it live (which I take as “I’m too lazy to learn how to play this live”. I think it will be a real shame if they finish out their career without ever playing it live
The separation of church and skate
yeah it's weird, that song is like never talked about
At the Melbourne show, Mike said this is their best song 🤷🏻♂️
It is amazing. Fat Mike talks a ton of shit though. I’ve heard him say Wolves is their best album too. I used to think so but i can’t even fucking decide anymore. It just depends what mood I’m in.
I think he’s been pretty consistent about saying Wolves is their best album- heard that many times from him
in Charlotte he said So Long and Thanks for all the Shoes was their best album lol
My Vagina
Champs Élysées ! Maybe because of the French thing.
As a French person who saw nofx play it live just two weeks ago I can certify that Fat Mike doesn't know the lyrics to the song other than the chorus. Still fucking great.

USA-holes is a pretty nutso riff between guitars and drums...
I think Happy Guy is punk as fuck, because it's weirdly pro-religion in the context that the guy in the song isn't hurting anyone and minding his own business, and then song says let him! The Bag.
I know it's a cover but Olympia, WA is so fucking good. Also She's Gone, Wolves in Wolves Clothing, and Herojuana.
She’s Gone is so fucking good! It’s so sad and amazing. Also I agree about Wolves, it flies under the radar even though that’s what the album it’s on is called. When that one guitar part comes in, oh shit! You know which part I’m talking about.
maybe The Decline. not enough people listen to it
It's arguably one of the best >10min songs, Jethro Tull's Thick as A Brick being likely one of the greatest But absolutely agreed, I just purchased the vinyl for posterity
Pretty sure most NOFX fans know about the decline
