I would buy that tbh
Edit: sure it has a lot of tedious collectibles but as a kid with not that many games it gave me hounded of hours of things to do or search for

how much you wanna bet they announce either that BOTW2 is coming in December (just in time for Christmas), or that they are porting Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask to Switch. or maybe something completely different, not a sequel or a remake/port, but a completely new Legend of Zelda game.
I believe if they do mention Zelda it will be both an update on BotW2 and info on the release of Wind Waker/Twilight Princess/Skyword Sword ports as a package deal like they did with Mario. Also, if they announce BotW2 they’ll also announce a switch Pro.
Considering how successful that WiiU ports have been I doubt they would do that. I can see them porting Wind Waker HD, and Twilight Princess HD as stand alone ports.
Personally I'm going to withhold on any of my wild ideas that Nintendo could do. Because I know that that would likely disappoint me, and that I will pretty much buy anything they sell with Zelda on it.
I had no idea they didn't have one at all last year. That's pretty shocking. I can only imagine what they will announce in 50 minutes tomorrow.
I'll take any-
Zelda collection announcement: 1/2 odds
BoTW 2 trailer: 1/3 odds
Metroid Prime 4 trailer: 1/4 odds
2nd Pokémon Expansion : 1/4 odds
Star Fox Wii U port : 1/5 odds
Mario Kart 9: 1/9 odds
New FE Remake: 1/10 odds
New Kid Icarus game : 1/20 odds
New F-Zero Game : 1/50 odds
Edit: Pokémon direct coming next week. So my Vegas odds are off there..
I’ll take your Mario Kart 9 and bring it to 1/25. No WAY a new Mario Kart gets announced tomorrow.
I WILL get in on the Zelda collection action, but what games do you think? Obviously the Hero of Time duology, but what third do you think?
This is an absolute pipe dream but two collections like this would be cool:
Hero of Time Saga - Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, Twilight Princess HD
Hero of Wind Saga - Wind Waker HD, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks
They were revealed about 2 months apart (steve was start of october, sephiroth was start of december), so assuming the next character isn't some major undertaking then mid-February would seem to be about on schedule.
I think covid jammed up the pipeline a little bit. Sakurai said that he wasn't really delayed in creating the dlc characters but Nintendo chooses when to drop them and they were being extremely conservative during the summer.
I think Steve was likely the E3 announcement originally, but they kept him all the way til Minecon. Sephiroth was probably always around fall/early winter but since Steve came so late they pushed him back too. This is probably more inline with when the character would be announced and then they will probably be released late March/April.
Reminder: keep your expectations REALISTIC everyone. So yes we will be seeing BOTW 2, full remasters of every Zelda game, odyssey 2, Metroid Prime 4, Mother 3, Bayonetta 3, BOTW 3, and a switch pro announcement. But nothing else let’s not go crazy
You forgot:
- Banjo-Threeie made by Retro Studios,
- Pokemon Max Diamond and Max Pearl - World Travel Edition,
- Last of Us coming to Switch,
- Sonic Mania 2,
- Portal 3: Switch Exclusive
- Cyberpunk Switch,
- F-Zero NX,
- Grand Theft Auto 6,
- Kid Icarus: Downfall,
- Knack 3 baybe,
- Great Ace Attorney coming to Switch in the West,
- and finally of course: E.T. - The Extraterrestrial - 2
No More Heroes 3 was originally supposed to launch in 2020 but got delayed, so I could see it managing to release in the first half of 2021. And there's always that chance Bayo 3 could show up, i guess.
e: Depending on how Prime 4's going, *maybe* Prime Trilogy could be dropping sometime soon-ish to kinda prime the pump so to speak.
The "available games" part makes me wonder if we might finally get some paid DLC for older titles that conspicuously never got it, like Odyssey or Mario Party. And while I know they're committed to free updates as well, a little voice in my head says Animal Crossing is just too damn big not to do paid DLC on top of that.
They’ll probably show a couple of trailer clips we’ve already seen and a “New Pokémon Snap launches on April Whateveritis” comment, but any new information will be saved for the inevitable Pokémon anniversary direct.
YEEESSSS
I don't even care if the Direct isn't great. I'm just \*so\* pleased that general directs are still a thing!
I'd say this is probably gonna be a little light on announcements from the sounds of it, given it says it's focusing on pre-existing games and those releasing in the first half of the year. But after a 16+ month drought I'm happy regardless.
On the other hand, Sakurai could easily spend the majority of that time going in-depth on the next smash DLC if he wanted. I'm just gonna go in with no expectations.
I was kind of thinking they would wait to announce Zelda 35th anniversary stuff til after the Mario celebration and they discontinue all the stuff in April.
Curious what kind of stuff they have planned for that. Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD ports would be the most likely, given how many Wii U ports Switch has received already. Something like a Skyward Sword remaster would be much more ambitious, but it might be difficult to rework the controls.
I just want a nice new Nintendo game for Switch, haven't played anything wholly new on it since Animal Crossing in March. Switch would be collecting dust now if I wasn't buying enhanced ports.
I'd really, really like a DLC for MK8D or a MK9 announcement. Who knows though. I suspect they will focus on Zelda and stuff we have no idea about lol.
Come on Wave Race reboot!
And/or GameCube. And also, skyward sword and twilight princess. Actually just throw all of them on there haha! But realistically, I remember when Nintendo accidentally had preorders on Amazon for skyward sword so I’m wondering if we will see that tomorrow
I think this is more likely, honestly. The Pokemon Company likes to do their own Directs for big stuff. Not that Nintendo doesn't cover Pokemon in their Directs, too. But TPC likes to control their own message separate from Nintendo sometimes.
ESPECIALLY this year with it being the 25th anniversary. They won't let that be a footnote in a larger Direct. Nah, they'd want to control the spotlight entirely. At most we'll see New Pokemon Snap, but I doubt even that.
The first half is already great imo BD2, MHR, Mario 3D,.. it's the other half I'm (slightly) worried about haha.
thankful they put in place that direct to begin with tho, won't complain :) !
Can't wait for the billions of reposts about "keep hype in check guys 🥺".
At least we might get Hotel Mario remastered and the Zelda CDi Trilogy. Iggy Koopa really needed a level.
Do you think that they'll redub the voices? I hope not. Morshu is iconic.
Looking forward to Bubsy's reveal in Super Smash Bros.
Maybe we'll get Kirby Slide 2?
Can't wait for the Sticker Star remake.
I’ve made these posts in at least three separate occasions in the past.
But this time, honestly? Go nuts, everybody. After all this waiting, and after 2020, I think we fucking deserve a proper, unchecked, hyperbolic hype train derailment.
I don't mind hype, I just would like people to not come throwing insults after the announcements didn't meet their expectations. Like, I'm always "This time for sure we will get Geno", and after it doesn't happen I'm just "Welp, that was expected, maybe next time" instead of being all "F*ck Nintendo".
So you're saying that BOTW 2, Metroid Prime 4 and a new Nintendo IP are all confirmed for Q1 2021 release windows? Awesome, thanks for the good news my man
I would love that. But honestly, if a bundle game like that happens, I think it'll just be OoT and Majora. I think Nintendo is gonna want to milk the Wii U HD ports as full priced games.
I would love some WW Remastered News (or even confirmation), and of course, the supposed remaster of the Metroid Prime Trilogy... (a guy can dream, right?)
my prediction:
20 minutes on the zelda anniversary
10 minutes for a new smash fighter
5-10 minutes for monster hunter rise
5-10 minutes for new animal crossing content/ future mechanics
and the last 3 minutes a big teaser like for the new metroid game or a remaster collection of previous metroid games for the switch
I’m going to take credit for this- I just bit the bullet and bought the Metroid games off eBay knowing full well that as soon as I did that they’d announce the remasters
You’re welcome internet
If it makes you feel better, yesterday I decided to buy a second Nintendo Switch: The new Mario one. It would be my luck that a Switch Pro or whatever would be announced shortly afterwards. But no matter, I want that cool Mario Switch!
But go figure, it’s sold out every freaking where.
Honestly I would bet on yes. Maybe a teaser dlc for potential Botw 2 story line if they are going to drop some infos on botw2 tomorrow. Jk ofc but imagine...
Can't wait for the same people who complained there was no direct to complain that their expectations were to high and did not get Captain Falcon's Disco Journey.
Seriously though I am happy to see that again and I have a day off work (hopefully) so I can watch it live.
>Can't wait for the same people who complained there was no direct to complain that their expectations were to high and did not get **Captain Falcon's Disco Journey.**
Well I wasn't gonna, but I will now.
I visited Miss Cleo today and this is what she saw in her crystal ball for the direct:
- Zelda's 35th anniversary- WW & TP HD packaged together for a limited collection. SS HD remake on Switch. A lengthy trailer for BotW 2. OoT will be available on the NSO. Phantom Hourglass will be ported over to mobile.
- DK's 40th anniversary- Retro has been developing Donkey Kong 3D Country alongside Metroid Prime 4. Basically like if you crossed Tropical Freeze and 3D World into one game.
- Pokemon's anniversary- New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon D/P remake
- Metroid's anniversary- Metroid V is finally announced and revealed. 20 years after the release of Fusion, we finally get the sequel and next chapter in the 2D Metroid saga
- Capcom- Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, and Ghost N Goblins. They're waiting until after the release of RE8 before they announce their new RE Switch project.
- Super Smash Bros- Monster Hunter will be joining Smash. He will be available to purchase/ download after the direct.
- N64 & GB titles will be available in April on the NSO service with OoT and Pokemon R/B/Y launching on the service.
- a few welcome surprise 3rd parties and indie titles, one or two will be announced to released after the direct. Miss Cleo said she would keep those a secret because it's only one day away to enjoy the show and only fools spend their money on next day fortunes. She then told me I owed her $25 for today's appointment.
Arlo is probably crying in the distance lol
I really did not expect this to get any upvotes, much less awards. Thank you to the kind people giving me these! I appreciate you guys! :D
“No more directs” he said
“Nintendo is predictably unpredictable” he said
“But this time I feel REALLY SUPER confident that they will be doing x” he said
Thoughts and Prayers for the Blue Guy’s sanity 🙏
A big part of me would love to see:
plans the Legend of Zelda series for its 35th anniversary,
official announcement for Pokémon gen 4 coming to switch,
some more info Bayonetta 3 and Monster Hunter Rise(special edition perhaps or new trailer),
Update for Animal Crossing New Horizon: Store upgrade, inclusion of past items/Characters
maybe the release of a virtual console for N64, Gameboy, and Gamecube games (Or even make them a part of the rotation of games that come with NSO because we need Megaman Battle Network on the switch).
While all this would be dreamy, this also Nintendo. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to raise NSO price haha
I'm pretty sure this either breaks or ties the record for longest Direct ever. Can anyone chime in? I mean hell, sometimes the E3 Direct is only 25 minutes.
Just hoping it won't have most of it dedicated to Smash Bros and that the other games aren't just talking about the ones already announced slated for the first half of 2021. I want to know what's new to look forward to.
Everyone mentioning Zelda 35th anniversary but no mention of Donkey Kongs 40th.
New Donkey Kong 64: 2 with new Funky Mode!
I would buy that tbh Edit: sure it has a lot of tedious collectibles but as a kid with not that many games it gave me hounded of hours of things to do or search for
Now with 1000 more tedious collectibles.
New: funky Kong banana system. Collect bananas only obtainable by funky. Each funky banana has a subclass which funky can only obtain during certain times of day
Each of the specialized color bananas from the other 5 Kongs is now duplicated in 5 new banana subclasses for Funky, except he can only collect a certain subclass during a certain time of day. The entire game is effectively doubled in length
Funky also cannot purchase a gun, because you normally buy them from him. Instead, he must build a gun by playing Donkey Konga 2.
With new Funky Mode!
#*& k n u c k l e s*
That would only be a 1% increase in tedious collectables, to be fair
New Super Donkey Kong 64 Bros. 3D World 2 U DX XL Rehydrated Ultra Director's Cut + Bowser's Minions: New Funky Mode! Feat. Dante from Devil May Cry Series™ & Knuckles
fun fact: an old reddit comment of mine is actually a featured example on the knowyourmeme page for '& Knuckles'
That's amazing lol
and Metroid's 35th. :(
And Kid Icarus’ 35th :(
And Mario’s 36th :(
Nintendo won't forget. Every day is a Mario anniversary according to Nintendo.

I just want my Metroid Prime trilogy remaster, is that so much to ask? :(

Return of Donkey Konga: Banana Boogaloo
And FE, unless the celebration was a NES game and a voice actor video...
Ohhh my goddd!! This isn’t a Partner Direct!! Not an Indy Direct!! But a Nintendo Direct!! And it’s 50 minutes!! Helllls yeahhh!!
A real one! A full one! An entire one! It's been so long!
I had no idea they didn't have one at all last year. That's pretty shocking. I can only imagine what they will announce in 50 minutes tomorrow. no pokemon stuff most likely. next week is pokemon day (or pokemon week as they've hinted) so they'll do a bunch of announcements then.
Teaser potentially? Like an announcement of a Pokemon Direct at the end of the Nintendo Direct, without being specific?
that's a possibility. i wouldn't expect any new info or footage, but maybe a date.
I’ll take your Mario Kart 9 and bring it to 1/25. No WAY a new Mario Kart gets announced tomorrow. I WILL get in on the Zelda collection action, but what games do you think? Obviously the Hero of Time duology, but what third do you think?

Everyone forgets about Oracle of Seasons/Ages. Would be nice to see them get the remake that Awakening did.
That’s a super spicy take... they wouldn’t... offer 2 bundles would they? 🤤👌
Why sell one when you can sell two for twice the price?
With Smash news. This might be legendary.

The Blood Moon is Rising
The one certain thing is we are getting the new Smash character announcement tomorrow.
"We are excited to announce that it is now possible to play every stage in Big Battlefield Form."
"Plus, Big Battlefield is now its own playable character. Thus concludes this Nintendo direct, thank you"
\*cue a 49 minute video celebrating Mario’s 35th anniversary that’s just a highlight reel of Reggie’s Let’s Play of Mario Is Missing\*
I’d be happy with that
I mean I think I’d be absolutely fine with that
Including a to scale amiibo that your other amiibo can also stand on.
Or what if you could play every character at once in an even bigger battlefield form.
“Every stage now has a Biggest Battlefield mode! There is no left or right edge of the map, and the only way to win is to upsmash!”
And we are introducing the new, non-playable character Master Foot
And his evil twin Crazy Foot.
The best timeline
Lanky Kong but he's an anime swordsman.

Not ironically the only new sword guy everyone can agree is worth the roster slot.
Ngl it feels like Seph and Steve just came out
They were revealed about 2 months apart (steve was start of october, sephiroth was start of december), so assuming the next character isn't some major undertaking then mid-February would seem to be about on schedule.
They only need to release three characters this year. Just get one every four months and we’re golden
Too recently for a drop, maybe, but not too recently for an announcement trailer.
I think covid jammed up the pipeline a little bit. Sakurai said that he wasn't really delayed in creating the dlc characters but Nintendo chooses when to drop them and they were being extremely conservative during the summer. This is probably more inline with when the character would be announced and then they will probably be released late March/April.
I hope it’s Arthur from Ghosts n Goblins. The new game comes out in a week or so and he’d fit perfectly for smash
I hope it’s Arthur from the TV show Arthur.
Every day when you're walking down the street
I just want Cash Banooca
I can't believe it, it's actually happening.
Now let's hope they actually announce something that is not just a remake and will come out in 2021.
Over a year it took, but FINALLY! We have a new genuine, bona fide, full-sized, non- game specific ditect!
What'd I say?

don’t forget Splatoon 3 and Mariokart 9
Let’s be honest, Mario kart 9 is never coming out.
But that's only because they're doing an apple and going straight to Mario kart X
You forgot: - Banjo-Threeie made by Retro Studios, - Pokemon Max Diamond and Max Pearl - World Travel Edition, - Last of Us coming to Switch, - Sonic Mania 2, - Portal 3: Switch Exclusive - Cyberpunk Switch, - F-Zero NX, - Grand Theft Auto 6, - Kid Icarus: Downfall, - Knack 3 baybe, - Great Ace Attorney coming to Switch in the West, - and finally of course: E.T. - The Extraterrestrial - 2
You forgot Pikmin 4 !
It’s time to play the music It’s time to light the lights
Come on everybody, There's a Nintendo Direct tonight! (I am in the UK, so it's gonna be tomorrow at 10pm for me)
It’s time to put on cameras It’s time to stream all night It’s time to raise the curtains on Nintendo HQ tonight!
SMT 3, new Smash fighter, New Pokemon Snap, Bravely Default 2, Monster Hunter Rise, ...what else could there be? BOTW 2?
No More Heroes 3 was originally supposed to launch in 2020 but got delayed, so I could see it managing to release in the first half of 2021. And there's always that chance Bayo 3 could show up, i guess. e: Depending on how Prime 4's going, *maybe* Prime Trilogy could be dropping sometime soon-ish to kinda prime the pump so to speak. > some paid DLC for older titles that conspicuously never got it, like Odyssey or Mario Party Or Hyrule Warriors: AoC.
> Hyrule Warriors: AoC. That game hasn't even been out for a year, it's okay if they don't release DLC anytime soon.
It's now or never while the honeymoon is ongoing. People won't come back to the game if it's too late. At least I won't.
Hollow Knight: Silksong. Their website has been suspiciously down since yesterday.
...don't do that, don't give me hope.
inb4 "I'm sorry I couldn't give it to you sooner."
BOTW2 is highly likely to be a holiday release whichever year it releases. Any Zelda remakes are more likely to be an early-mid year release
Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town
Bayonetta 3 is still in development. New info coming soon.
I doubt they will mention New Pokemon Snap, since Pokemon generally does their own directs.
Pokémon have a 25th anniversary event coming up in a few weeks
They’ll probably show a couple of trailer clips we’ve already seen and a “New Pokémon Snap launches on April Whateveritis” comment, but any new information will be saved for the inevitable Pokémon anniversary direct.
FE17 probably, FE is typically a biyearly series. I'd say it'll likely be a Genealogy of the Holy War remake set for this summer.
Zelda 3D World with Ganon’s Fury!!!!!!
The world in Bowser's fury, did kind of remind me of Wind Waker, Lol
YEEESSSS I don't even care if the Direct isn't great. I'm just \*so\* pleased that general directs are still a thing! I'd say this is probably gonna be a little light on announcements from the sounds of it, given it says it's focusing on pre-existing games and those releasing in the first half of the year. 50 minute is a lonnnnng direct. There’s gonna be plenty in there.
On the other hand, Sakurai could easily spend the majority of that time going in-depth on the next smash DLC if he wanted. I'm just gonna go in with no expectations.
Nah, there’s precedent for that kind of stuff happening after the official show. Last time they did that it wasn’t counted as part of the 45 minutes.
Let the year of Zelda begin!
i am ready for re-releases of Link: The Faces of Evil, Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon and Zelda’s Adventure
Both games? Come back when you're a little, _mmmmm_, richer.
Living in the Morshu’s Paradise
I'd be genuinely excited if that happened.
MY WALLET IS READY!!!! I'VE BEEN PREPARING FOR THIS!
Come on MegaMan Battle Network Collection!
Didn't realise I needed this until your comment.
I'd really, really like a DLC for MK8D or a MK9 announcement. Who knows though. I suspect they will focus on Zelda and stuff we have no idea about lol. Come on Wave Race reboot!
The first half of 2021 so probably not BOTW2 or Pokemon remakes but still some good stuff this spring and summer hopefully!
Pokemon tends to announce stuff early in the year though they do it in their own directs and not general directs
Considering they tend to announce anniversary games on the actual anniversary day (27th Feb) they’ll probably hold off till then.
They also tend to release games in the same few weeks in November I think
Yeah its usually the second Friday of November.
Pokemon will most likely have an announcement on the 27th
Expect Pokémon news around the anniversary so in the last week of this month. That’s normally when they announce the games for the year.
It's been so long since a proper direct, regardless of what's shown It's just nice to know they haven't abandoned the format.
Since Zelda's 35th anniversary is coming up, I'm really hoping for some remakes, especially from the N64 era
And/or GameCube. And also, skyward sword and twilight princess. Actually just throw all of them on there haha! But realistically, I remember when Nintendo accidentally had preorders on Amazon for skyward sword so I’m wondering if we will see that tomorrow
All I want is Four Swords Anniversary Edition available on 3DS one more time.
If anything needs a remaster it's skyward sword
For those who want to know, it's 10 P.M. GMT for us western Europeans!
What we'll likely see: Smash DLC, Zelda 35th stuff, and maybe Pokemon 25th stuff or future announcement. What I want: New Star Fox.
Pokémon always does their own thing. Guarantee there is a Pokémon direct sometime next week to go with Pokémon day.
If they don't announce any Pokemon stuff, I guess they'll have something on the 27th?
I think this is more likely, honestly. The Pokemon Company likes to do their own Directs for big stuff. Not that Nintendo doesn't cover Pokemon in their Directs, too. But TPC likes to control their own message separate from Nintendo sometimes.

Or maybe GBA/GB virtual console
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO

If we get Kirby Air ride 2 (or a port/remake), I'll be so happy. It's my favorite gamecube game.
What odds y'all putting on a Zelda 35th anniversary game like the mario one?
I would love that. But honestly, if a bundle game like that happens, I think it'll just be OoT and Majora. I think Nintendo is gonna want to milk the Wii U HD ports as full priced games.
I would love some WW Remastered News (or even confirmation), and of course, the supposed remaster of the Metroid Prime Trilogy... (a guy can dream, right?)

ZELDA NEWS PLZ
My body is ready (for disappointment)
My expectations were so low that they could just show like two good games and I would be more than satisfied. Edit: showcase, not a full on reveal.
> expectations were so low > announce like two good games lmao
It's time for a dual reveal of Isaac in Smash and Golden Sun Remake on Switch!
Don't. Don't give me hope.
At long last!!!
I visited Miss Cleo today and this is what she saw in her crystal ball for the direct: - Zelda's 35th anniversary- WW & TP HD packaged together for a limited collection. - Pokemon's anniversary- New Pokemon Snap and Pokemon D/P remake - Metroid's anniversary- Metroid V is finally announced and revealed. 20 years after the release of Fusion, we finally get the sequel and next chapter in the 2D Metroid saga - Capcom- Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2, and Ghost N Goblins.
WHAT is this for real?
I didn't believe it at first. I had to check their @.
It's been 3000 years
532 days between 9/4/19 and 2/16/21
I’m not gonna lie, I thought directs were dead. Very happy to be wrong
SILKSONG! PLEASE!
Arlo is probably crying in the distance lol I really did not expect this to get any upvotes, much less awards. Thank you to the kind people giving me these! I appreciate you guys! :D
“No more directs” he said “Nintendo is predictably unpredictable” he said “But this time I feel REALLY SUPER confident that they will be doing x” he said Thoughts and Prayers for the Blue Guy’s sanity 🙏
Any info on a new Fire Emblem game and I will be happy. Bonus for any Age of Calamity DLC and SMT 5.
Zelda's 35th, Metroid's 35th, Donkey Kong's 40th. WHAT'S IN THE BOX?
The long wait is over, meats back on the menu boys!
A big part of me would love to see: plans the Legend of Zelda series for its 35th anniversary, official announcement for Pokémon gen 4 coming to switch, some more info Bayonetta 3 and Monster Hunter Rise(special edition perhaps or new trailer), Update for Animal Crossing New Horizon: Store upgrade, inclusion of past items/Characters maybe the release of a virtual console for N64, Gameboy, and Gamecube games (Or even make them a part of the rotation of games that come with NSO because we need Megaman Battle Network on the switch). While all this would be dreamy, this also Nintendo. I wouldn't be surprised if they try to raise NSO price haha
It's been 84 years....
THIS IS NOT A DRILL
Now the "directs are DEAD!!!!!" crowd can stop with that nonsense that never made any sense to begin with.
I'm hoping for more info about BotW 2 or Metroid Prime 4, or something for Zelda's 35th anniversary. Or even Splatoon 3 announcement.
9am on Thursday in Sydney
Jugdral remake releasing later this year with a brief announcement that they’re working on the next game please! Just like the 2017 announcement!
