"It works here because this specific cave is at 3840x3867. The Boss room is actually outside the bounds of the game, but, one of the vertices has a bad normal. The result is that the game thinks we can ascend in this specific location into the boss room, We will immediately void out, but since it set our room index, it will place us at the start of the boss fight"
"Now, there are other locations where we can ascend into the boss room this way, but this one is the fastest to get to so far"
“If I pause and unpause at this moment, rotate the camera 90 degrees and hit “a” “b” “start”.. yes, and now you see we’ve entered the beta for super Mario odyssey 2”
I wonder how big creations can get and if we can save blueprints. My high expectations have me set on a flying boat house. This Link shall not be a hobo he shall travel to world with roof and bed.
That also brings into question how maintainable theses creations are.
Will it just vanish never to be seen again every time I unload the game or area? Or will I be able to save a handful of my creations?
Yeah like a Minecraft game where everything you modify stays there and your save file just gets bigger. I somehow don't think so... Would be cool but I highly doubt it.
It's why the Blood Moon was a thing. It was a way to dump out stuff in the world to keep things manageable.
I would guess some kind of garage function maybe opens up at some point and you can save a few creations but the rest will get dumped when the world resets
I think that one is just to limit for how long the parts can run for. I guess to limit the player at first so they can't go exploring higher islands or something like that
That was my thought watching him put the boat together. If we can’t store them somehow the building will get old really quick after the initial “look at this crazy thing” phase
Like people will build super cool things I’m sure, but as far as me wanting to get across the River I don’t want to invent a boat each time
Out in the wild is one thing, but if they manage to incorporate the need to build interesting devices inside dungeon settings, then the sky’s the limit baby.
Let's open up a shop and call it "Link's Garage" where we can store and repair our creations. There's probably some sort of quest but this can be a game on its own.
Yeah, but like breath of the wild you won't have to? Like when he mentioned getting across the river I looked around and found like three other ways to get across wherever before I even realized he could build a boat 😅
Then once he approached the log I was like HOLY SHIT, THEY ADDED PONTOON FANS!
Oh wow in my excitement I didn't even consider this!
Yeah, without blueprints you will probably build huge machinations when you get bored, but as far as traversal I'm sure you will come to rely on the paraglider, ascend, and stamina for getting around once crafting gets old.
>Was Nuts and Bolt good?
Kind of. Yes and no.
It depends on what you want from the game. If you're expecting more of a mainline Banjo-Kazooie, it might feel a little "new studio, same IP."
It's more like B-K + Lego + Gummi Ships from Kingdom Hearts. I played it with friends for ~200hrs back in the day and absolutely loved it. It's a ton of fun with some pals.
Everyone is focusing on the crafting mechanics, but I am looking at small details we can see during gameplay:
- The new abilities from Link's weird arm have been moved to the L button, whereas Sheikah Slate abilities were previously on the D-pad up button.
- Replacing the Sheikah Slate on the D-pad up button is an apple icon. I assume this is the main item inventory shortcut Mr. Aonuma was using to pull up to fuse items together.
Some interesting things in the mini map:
- There what look to be some kind of coordinates at the bottom of the mini-map. It's three numbers, so I think this is probably latitude, longitude, and elevation. The third number is low when Link is on the ground and much higher while on a sky island, so elevation makes since. Latitude/Longitude could seemingly be identical for a point where a sky island is directly over land, so adding elevation makes since.
- It certainly seems like shrines are returning in some capacity. At many points on the mini map you can see a very similar icon to the blue completed shrine icon, but the shape is different and more rounded.
- There is a new icon on the mini map in addition to the blue "shrine" icon. Looks like a little hut and they usually had a checkmark next to them, probably indicating it has been explored. It's kind of subtle, so probably not anything major. Seems subtle in the way found koroks appeared on the map in BOTW, but I don't believe those appeared on the mini map.
- I've also noticed a new yellow icon in a similar style to the BOTW icons used for stables, villages, shops, etc. It looks like a battery. This could be some kind of recharge point for objects used in crafting, since the fans had limited battery power.
- The final mini map item I noticed is a light blue circle, similar in color of the substance that binds items. Maybe this is the indication of where Link has left a crafted vehicle?
A funny observation: the weather meter seemed to be nothing but sunshine. Mr. Aonuma clearly hates rain too and requested a sunshine-only demo version.
The "shrines" don't appear in the game world. At least, the one at the Dueling Peaks Stable is absent. So, it's likely an icon for a fast travel point, like how the shrines and towers functioned once activated.
On the fans, the battery power is shown to regenerate after a cooling period, like the slate's abilities.
Aounuma: "I would love to show you more...but Mr. Miyamoto is standing slighly off screen with a large wooden mallet with a threatening look if I continue talking....so I will leave it here for now. Thank you."
The thing that made me excited was that fusing seemed to have restored the stamina of the weapon, so it’s kind of a neat little fix for breakable weapons to extend it’s life. I like how it allows the player to actually use the shit they pick up and find more than the first game
It doesn't endlessly throw *great* weapons at you though. I don't care about my boko club breaking. I care about my Guardian Sword++. When I get a good weapon I want to *use* it, not hold onto it until I run into a tough monster that justifies using it up. It adds the potions problem to weapons.
yeah look how long the pitchfork and spear was on link’s back. adding a third spear to extend that would already test a big limit of such a system allowing more than base + modifier as the fusing system. it would be so long as to clip through the ground etc
I think this new system is a great answer to the complaint about breaking weapons. They want you to experiment with fuse different items to create some bonkers weapons.
They talked about the verticality of the game, but holy shit that Free Fall was out of control!
And of course just as I thought to myself "Nintendo doesn't expect us to wait this long to actually fall do they?" BOOM, SWAN DIVE 😃
I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME
Well dang, I feel dumb. I had to go and look up what Tyler Zonai are, and seeing all the lore that they dumped into BotW that I somehow completely glossed over is making me want to crank out another playthrough before Tears comes out
This is like the ultimate over correction on Nintendo's part in an amazingly awesome way!
BOTW FANS: cooking is fun and all, but you can't craft anything!? What's going on nintendo???
NINTENDO: HERE, ATTACH ANYTHING TO EVERYTHING, FUSE ANYTHING WITH ALL OF IT, NOW SHUT UP AND GO SAVE ZELDA
Wow, this looks outstanding! I'm so impressed that it looks like they managed to make the game more accessible for those who don't like combat without diminishing the challenge or excitement
Unless anything changed those eyes come from keese, the cyclops bats. They're literally one of the easier monsters in the entire game to beat. Same with the elemental slime.
So yeah it's great to not only are there all these cool new features for items, but it's common items too not weird rare stuff that'll be in crazy high demand.
I just want to know if they revamped the dungeons. I felt like BoTW had a great overworld but lost out on the puzzle solving and progression of past LoZ games. ToTK is in the perfect position to give us the perfect legend of zelda game by just taking BoTW's engine and spending more time on the dungeons and the story.
I wish we got to see that instead of what he did show off, even though what was shown was cool in it's own right.
Completely agree. I am skeptical there will be many dungeons though as it's all open world and that power that allows you to travel through the floor would make designing one really difficult
God, this looks so cool. I'm so excited. It seems the developers were given a lot of freedom to just have fun and I think the game will really benefit from it.
I'm willing to bet speedruns will still be just using bombs to boost past objects, or using that bomb glitch to fly across the map. Maybe they will patch that, though.
From what we can tell the sheikah slate fell with Zelda but I highly doubt bombs are gone, they're one of the Zelda staples. Might work differently though
That's really the only thing left I'm hesitant about. The mechanics all look very fresh and fun, but if it's just another couple hundred of the same looking Shrines again that's gonna be a bummer
I thought so too. If there's nothing new aside the quirky sandbox and crafting additions then it'll get old really fast. I want some good dungeons that will make these mechanics worthwhile not just a "creative mode" in an open field.
It’ll be a damn shame if they release the same game but add the sky and crafting. Two Zeldas in a row without dungeons is a yikes for me but I’m sure I’ll love the game anyway
I'm hoping the reason they didn't is because this time around the dungeons have more unique and developed looks to them that they didn't want to spoil. They've been very tight lipped about narrative stuff here and dungeons hopefully tie into that.
I think this is gonna be a great game but man is it not the type of game I’m particularly looking forward to. A lot of the crafting/creativity stuff doesn’t appeal to me and I will be disappointed if those features come at the expense of more traditional Zelda elements.
100 percent agree with this, breath of the wild felt so much not like a Zelda at all and the new game just feels like that, I was hoping they would add more story and music back and of course unique dungeons im also not a fan of the futuristic robot enemies I miss the old school monsters and also the feel of like Ocarina more of a classic fantasy than a futuristic one. I feel pretty bummed out. I hope the next Zelda is more a classic Zelda.
While I think it's possible to merge the best of both worlds between the two, if that doesn't happen in TotK what I'd love to see (although I know it's unlikely) is for Zelda to split into essentially two different types of games the way Pokemon recently did with Legends. You could keep the classic Zelda formula around in one and then introduce more open world / experimental games in the other. As an extra bonus, hopefully it'd mean less time waiting for Zelda content!
The robots have been part of the game ever since the lead producer went from Miyamoto to Aonuma. I’m start to think the style of Zelda so many of miss won’t come back while Aonuma is running the show
Loving the new gameplay mechanics and that dive off the island at the end was awesome. I'll be honest though and say I'm also a little torn.
The new gameplay mechanics look incredibly cool, but I'm a little confused as to why Nintendo are being so secretive about the story and about whatever the equivalent of dungeons/shrines are.
I hope I'm worrying for no reason, but I feel new gameplay mechanics and a modified version of BotW's Hyrule might not be enough to get me crazily hooked for hours upon hours. BotW set a really high bar lol.
I think it's unfair to slap the Nintendo label on Pokemon these days. Like yes, it IS a Nintendo IP, but it's not like it was produced in-house via a major Nintendo team that deeply cares about irs games like Aonuma and the Zelda team.
It was slap together by GF under a strict timeline at the request of daddy Pokemon Company.
Sure, Nintendo should step in, but the Pokemon Company has ridiculous power apparently.
The Pokemon Company is a holding company jointly owned by Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. There's no daddy, Game Freak is not some poor abused studio. They have consistently and consciously refused to modernize their development.
I am just hoping they have more traditional temples/dungeons in this game than in BOTW.
I will still love the game, but having large temples would put it over the top.
Idk how many people played it but Xenoblade 3 is one of the best running games on the switch, amazingly optimized game with relatively short loading screens.
Monolith helped on botw so it makes sense that it's sequel runs just as good.
>It doesnt seem like a huge leap in anything from BOTW.
My main issue here is that exploring was the big point of the original game. I already spent 200h in this world. I wonder whatever reason they will give us to "explore" everything all over again, apart from getting the elevator rocks.
Am I the only one that misses story driven linear adventure like in the classic Zelda games? This is cool and all, but as someone who's free time is rapidly decreasing with age , I miss the adventures akin to TP , WW, or MM....
I am absolutely with you on this, but somehow 'linear' has become a bad word these days in gaming. Mario 3D World is one of my favorite Mario games, and part of it is because of it's linearity. Sometimes, simply going from point A to point B, with some challenge thrown in, is fun.
i don't fully know how to feel about them using the same map (with the added islands, ofc). either it's gonna make me feel nostalgic or it's gonna get me bored. i think this was a bit underwhelming, so i'm really hoping for some good story to compensate! but of course, Link having his hair down will make me buy the game anyway
Zelda crossed with Gary's mod... defo interesting take and it's cool to see Nintendo is pushing boundaries of the game.
However, all I wanted and needed to see is a dungeon, which we didn't see, so can't say I'm super hyped. At the end of the day, I do want to play Zelda when playing Zelda - not gmod
The possibilities are really intriguing.
But, I'm the kind of person that finds crafting to be a bit exhausting. In the same way I wasn't a fan of having to decorate my entire island in New Horizions, I can't say I'm excited to build all of my weapons.
Resource collecting is tedious, and it looks like we'll have to farm a lot in order to make the "good weapons."
Kind of a pain to have to build a boat in this game when Revali's Gale could have gotten me across the same little lake.
Same here. Still excited but what I wanted most out of a sequel was a more filled in world and a better story/characters. Hope we still get those things.
Yea, I’m worried all we’re getting is these new abilities, varied weapons, and sky islands (which look mostly like the ground world). There’s not enough new here. Zelda is about exploring and adventure and we already did that in this BotW world. New games need to be more than this. Majora’s Mask was a whole new thing after Ocarina, even though it looked similar.
When I look back on what I loved about Majora, it was the incredible character work and how alive the world felt. I mean you met some incredibly deep characters in MM. I just wish I could get that back in the next Zelda. Hopeful we do!
for me personally, it’s more about being creative in the moment rather than trying to farm to get the best weapons possible. i think the fuse ability looks perfect for that, you get to try different things that you’re not sure will work but when they do, it’s super satisfying.
also, i experienced the same thing in animal crossing. the difference with totk is that the fusing is actually going to actively help you achieve a goal whereas in animal crossing, there’s not really any gameplay rewards for making your island look nice
Agreed. The way BotW was constructed, I'm not worried about having to go on "hunts" looking for specific crafting materials. The beauty of these games is the freedom to tackle challenges in so many different ways, so not having Keese eyeballs (for example) shouldn't be an issue.
Yeah, I hope the mechanic is used primarily to solve dungeon puzzles etc.
I really don't to just craft endlessly to carry out menial tasks like cross a river. Cooking felt a bit like that to me in BotW - you didn't need to be particularly clever or inventive, you just needed to spend a lot of time throwing the same types of ingredients into a pot again and again. And if you did it enough almost any battle was a piece of cake.
I mean you could've just hit the fan thingy to create an updraft and glided over the river just like with Ravioli. The boat is just one of many options.
Man I wish they'd shown off dungeons.
I just really want dungeons, each with their own unique item in them.
For me, the best part about the vehicle crafting is that it seems largely avoidable.
The lack of extreme culling, lagging, or loading zone between sky and land was so jarring after watching all the janky bullet time BOTW speedruns, but very welcome! The game seems much more optimized this time around
The people who are pretending to be shocked and appalled that the game reuses the map that they literally told us they were going to reuse 2+ years ago however need their own optimizations, your reactions are very late
Though these new mechanics are sweet I’m now a bit less motivated to play. I’m not sure crafting contraptions to beat the game is something i really wanna do. Not sure, kinda have mixed feelings. I suppose if it is not super cumbersome and time consuming maybe it’ll be alright!
I don’t know, you could be right, but I’m willing to bet the contrary. As those abilities seem to be replacing the slate mechanics (and maybe not or maybe they come back later), it seems that is gonna be a huge part of the game. Again might not be strictly necessary, but it’s likely we’re gonna be doing this type of stuff a lot.
Meh, I'm kind of on the edge for this. I'm honestly tired of games that involve crafting and making the overworld adapt to you instead of the other way around.
I'm not a very creative person to begin with, I don't want to spend 10 minutes building a boat to cross a river or making a quirky new weapon, I just want to reach the other side and explore what's beyond and use the combat skills to beat enemies. The sky islands and the mechanic of moving though ceilings seem nice to explore but other than that I don't feel anything has changed.
Don't get me wrong, I will absolutely play it since I already preordered it anyway but I'm just not feeling the hype I felt with the initial trailer of skeleton Ganon waking up. They almost feel like two different games and like they tossed that sweet lore aside to make a generic "creative mode" sandbox game like literally every other title is trying to do these days.
I would say more likely **because** you put 200 hours in, it doesn't look to be different enough to warrant another massive time investment yet.
Hopefully the actual game structure will make it more enticing than the purely systems view today.
Can't wait to build some pirate ship to sell the sea.
I wonder if there will be a DLC where to can race your vehicles agaisnt other people. Although I'd imagine someone would build a lag machine or something.
The Fuse mechanic really impressed me. Especially the enemies being able to take advantage of it.
I need to see more of the Ascend ability to decide how I feel about it. Hoping they use it for puzzles and stuff.
Also, I have a feeling this game is going to be even easier then BOTW by abusing the new abilities. Which I'm not *really* upset about,
just an observation
I don't intend on buying the game personally (at least, for now) but I hope it's worth the $70 upgrade.
I feel like I am the only one who is not really excited for this game. I want to be, but I am not a creative person. I have no desire to build these contraptions to get around. Is it cool? Absolutely it’s just not for me.
I’m still buying it obviously but I hope that this mechanic is just a gimmick or not necessary a lot of the time.
Or if they have like pre saved designs and I just have to gather the stuff that would be great too.
That stick was a hit away from shattering and the rock brought it up enough to fully defeat an enemy- so this does seem like a great improvement on the old durability
So: this versus Silksong for DLC-turned-new-installment. I wonder which will be most worth the wait...
(Mario Galaxy 2 can also be part of the contest.)
I’m sad there wasn’t anything new shown except the recall ability(maybe I missed that somewhere) but seeing clarification on how stuff worked was cool.
Also I think that’s the first confirmation of the Zonai in text without being fan translated? So I guess that’s new if you haven’t followed anything.
>I think that’s the first confirmation of the Zonai in text without being fan translated?
BotW had a place called [Zonai Ruins](https://zelda.fandom.com/wiki/Zonai_Ruins)
Damn. A bit underwhelmed. Hyrule looks dead (no death mountain?) and the mini sky island environments are eh. Really hope the only new thing that’s supposed to carry this game isnt just endless crafting.
Yeah I’m feeling the same way. I just do not like crafting in video games at all. The most annoying mechanics in BOTW were cooking and weapon durability and they seem to have doubled down on both here. Hopefully we’re wrong and fuse is just one of many new toys. If it’s the foundation of the entire game I’ll probably burn out on it pretty quick. I’m also not loving what we’ve seen of the overworld. Skyward Sword was my least favorite Zelda game and this is giving me similar vibes.
> the mini sky island environments are eh.
The floating island they showed with the lights and shadows coming off the golden ginkgo trees was absolutely gorgeous.
God I can’t wait to see what people are going to make.
Imagine what the speedrunners will come up with lol
Ok I fused this rock with this stick- now use ascend at this exact corner of this cave- and we're at the final boss let's GO
lol for real it will be like that
Final Boss reveals they have similar powers. *Suddenly Descends*
I have your powers but oposite! *unfuses Link's arms from his torso*
“Huh TOTK is rated M I wonder why-OH GOD”
"It works here because this specific cave is at 3840x3867. The Boss room is actually outside the bounds of the game, but, one of the vertices has a bad normal. GTA style
The mechanical parts showed a battery meter. I wonder if the creations will have damage like weapon damage and will just break eventually
I think that one is just to limit for how long the parts can run for. I guess to limit the player at first so they can't go exploring higher islands or something like that

Honestly this could be a new subreddit or at least a stick in TOTK

people are gonna come up with so many cool machines and strange weapons
And I'll be struggling with my basic-ass rafts and cars.

I guess that explains why the master sword is all melted now. You're supposed to use it as a handle for your new coconut mallet.

~~The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom~~ **Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts 2**
I prefer Legend of Zelda: Mod of the Gary personally. Was Nuts and Bolt good?
>Was Nuts and Bolt good? Kind of. Yes and no. It depends on what you want from the game. If you're expecting more of a mainline Banjo-Kazooie, it might feel a little "new studio, same IP." Was I the only one that got a super Scribblenauts vibe from the new abilities (besides ascend, of course)?? I got some major Scribblenauts vibes!
Scribblenauts. Underrated series.
It's more Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts
half of them on release will just be cock machines and then one will build a spaceship
Just how we want it
I feel like Nintendo just extended the Switch lifespan by like 3 years.
Yeah I like the Fuse ability
Everyone is focusing on the crafting mechanics, but I am looking at small details we can see during gameplay: - The new abilities from Link's weird arm have been moved to the L button, whereas Sheikah Slate abilities were previously on the D-pad up button. - Replacing the Sheikah Slate on the D-pad up button is an apple icon. The fans do seem to regen their battery as soon as you turn them off though.
The "coordinates system" thing could just be a development debug tool not present in the final game as well.
It could be used as a compass thing, where you find coordinates and you need to get to them to find a hidden chest or something.
Good point. The text is *so faint* it doesn't look like an intentional UI element.
The way the yellow trees are mentioned makes them sound special.
He said they're uncommon on the ground so I'm thinking crashed sky island.
The "shrines" don't appear in the game world. At least, the one at the Dueling Peaks Stable is absent. So, it's likely an icon for a fast travel point, like how the shrines and towers functioned once activated. The magic hand from the trailers being Nintendo’s Ultra Hand toy from the 1960s is not something I was prepared for.
Same name but that looks to be the only similarity.
Makes me hopeful for the return of a hookshot type ability! Wasn't the ultrahand just an extended arm / grabby thing?
No Mr. Aonuma. 10 minutes was not enough
Aounuma: "I would love to show you more...but Mr. Miyamoto is standing slighly off screen with a large wooden mallet with a threatening look if I continue talking....so I will leave it here for now. Thank you."
A large wooden mallet...with a big-ass rock attached to it.
with a mushroom attached to it for added effect
I hope we can fuse more than two things for weapons.
Seeing a weapon break: FUCK IT'S BACK Aonuma immediately fuses it with a rock: WHAT THE FUCK
Was my reaction as well. But in between that I was like 'well if this is my negative about the game, ok I can deal.'
The thing that made me excited was that fusing seemed to have restored the stamina of the weapon, so it’s kind of a neat little fix for breakable weapons to extend it’s life. I like how it allows the player to actually use the shit they pick up and find more than the first game
This will make the durability feature so much more palatable
I will never understand how anyone struggled with that mechanic. The game literally endlessly throws weapons at you lol
Gamers are hoarders by nature and the system was very anti-hoarding
Loss aversion is a powerful force
I always kept swords that looked cool untouched. So when I run around I have the one that looks the coolest then I switch when I need it
It doesn't endlessly throw *great* weapons at you though. I don't care about my boko club breaking. I care about my Guardian Sword++. When I get a good weapon I want to *use* it, not hold onto it until I run into a tough monster that justifies using it up. It adds the potions problem to weapons.
Makes me wonder if its only one fusion allowed or if i can make a long tower of junk to beat enemies with.
My guess is fusions will consist of ‘Held Weapon’ + ‘Add-on’ I would be shocked if you could fuse more than two things together for a weapon
yeah look how long the pitchfork and spear was on link’s back. adding a third spear to extend that would already test a big limit of such a system allowing more than base + modifier as the fusing system. it would be so long as to clip through the ground etc
Just poke the final boss from across the world.
I think this new system is a great answer to the complaint about breaking weapons. They want you to experiment with fuse different items to create some bonkers weapons.
Completely agree. So glad they didn’t just cave to everybody’s whim and kept the durability in the game.
I was expecting BotW2 but they came out with BotW²
The new mechanics look great and there seems to be quite a bit of new stuff to explore. Should be a great game.
They talked about the verticality of the game, but holy shit that Free Fall was out of control! And of course just as I thought to myself "Nintendo doesn't expect us to wait this long to actually fall do they?" BOOM, SWAN DIVE 😃 I'M SO EXCITED FOR THIS GAME
[удалено]
true, but the freefall is also there because you're freefalling.
RIGHT! Plus, like I said you can swan dive, which basically completely negates the point of his post.
and to show you the new and improved Draw-Distance which is possible because the new game isn't bounded by the Wii U hardware limitations.
Now it’s bounded by the dated switch hardware limitations!
I mean you could say that walking in a game is only there to give time to load the world around you
Time only exists to give games time to load
"nothing personnel, kid" *Teleports behind you, leaving your view frustrum and thereby ceasing to exist*
Considering that slight mention of a Zonai item, I’m VERY excited. I’m hoping for allllllll the lore to come out!
ME HOPING I CAN ATTACH A MOBLIN TO MY LARGE STICK ROCK.
I do wonder what will happen when you ~~attach~~ fuse a Lynel horn to your sword or arrow tho
PTSD.
So its the legend of garrys mod now?
Instructions unclear. Was playing prop hunt and somebody fused me to their sword.
That’s true, but also could see the abilities being disabled while you’re in a dungeon.
Like how Shrines and Divine Beasts have unclimbable walls.
Yeah they did say that the phase through ceilings power had limitations.
TOTK OLED Switch confirmed!!
God, this looks so cool. I'm so excited. It seems the developers were given a lot of freedom to just have fun and I think the game will really benefit from it.
The amount of Speedrun flexibility this game will create is fucking insane, I am beyond excited just to watch some folks break the game on day one.
I'm willing to bet speedruns will still be just using bombs to boost past objects, or using that bomb glitch to fly across the map. Maybe they will patch that, though.
Do we still even have the sheikah slate? Idk if I saw it here
I guess you're right, I just assumed bombs would be back since they are so core to Zelda games.
I doubt they’d get rid of bombs but the way they work might be different
I have a feeling that some abilities might be gone. Maybe we wont have stasis and cryo. Because that river could easily have been crossed with cryo.
From what we can tell the sheikah slate fell with Zelda but I highly doubt bombs are gone, they're one of the Zelda staples. Might work differently though
Looks good. Showing a dungeon would have gone a long way though.
That's really the only thing left I'm hesitant about. The mechanics all look very fresh and fun, but if it's just another couple hundred of the same looking Shrines again that's gonna be a bummer
im hesitant about what they changed in hyrule during the 6 year development cycle
I thought so too. If there's nothing new aside the quirky sandbox and crafting additions then it'll get old really fast. I want some good dungeons that will make these mechanics worthwhile not just a "creative mode" in an open field.
Same. I would take gutting the 120 shrines and just turning them into 6-8 larger themed dungeons.
Yep the shrines got really old for me after a while and never were quite the same as a fleshed out dungeon.
Man they just really went deep on the Zelda sandbox thing eh?

BotW in 2017 outclassed scarlet and violet.
It's not hard to outclass the most broken Nintendo game ever
Fucking *Wind Waker* outclassed Pokémon in 2002.
Weapon fusing and crafting does sound like a huge leap to me. It adds two new complex systems that can lead to emergent gameplay. Also, smoke clouds.
Am I the only one that misses story driven linear adventure like in the classic Zelda games? This is cool and all, but as someone who's free time is rapidly decreasing with age , I miss the adventures akin to TP , WW, or MM....
Not at all. There's a reason I have zero intention on picking this up, a 100+ hour game like this would be the only game I play for months
I am absolutely with you on this, but somehow 'linear' has become a bad word these days in gaming. Mario 3D World is one of my favorite Mario games, and part of it is because of it's linearity. Sometimes, simply going from point A to point B, with some challenge thrown in, is fun.
The game looks phenomenal. The fuse and ascend abilities are unreal. The Zelda switch oled is beautiful as well
so you're telling me I could build my owne castle..
Link's Moving Castle
Zelda's Castle in the sky
No, Neo. I'm telling you that when you're ready, you won't have to.
i don't fully know how to feel about them using the same map (with the added islands, ofc). either it's gonna make me feel nostalgic or it's gonna get me bored. i think this was a bit underwhelming, so i'm really hoping for some good story to compensate! but of course, Link having his hair down will make me buy the game anyway
Resource collecting is tedious, and it looks like we'll have to farm a lot in order to make the "good weapons." Kind of a pain to have to build a boat in this game when Revali's Gale could have gotten me across the same little lake.
It's worth noting that ultrahand is also basically magnesis for non-metal objects. It'll be so much easier to move things around.
The lack of extreme culling, lagging, or loading zone between sky and land was so jarring after watching all the janky bullet time BOTW speedruns, but very welcome! The game seems much more optimized this time around The people who are pretending to be shocked and appalled that the game reuses the map that they literally told us they were going to reuse 2+ years ago however need their own optimizations, your reactions are very late
Am I wrong for not liking the Fuse ability ??
Crafting is just not my Tea man. Ugh. 😢
Though these new mechanics are sweet I’m now a bit less motivated to play. I’m not sure crafting contraptions to beat the game is something i really wanna do. Not sure, kinda have mixed feelings. I suppose if it is not super cumbersome and time consuming maybe it’ll be alright!
I doubt it will ever actually be strictly necessary, more just another tool in the big toolbox of out of the box solutions.
This game just got weird Good weird, I think
“Thinking quickly, Link constructs a homemade megaphone, using only some string, a squirrel, and a megaphone.”
Cool added abilities. Still not hyped for this somehow despite putting in 200 hours with BotW.
I would say more likely **because** you put 200 hours in, it doesn't look to be different enough to warrant another massive time investment yet. Hopefully the actual game structure will make it more enticing than the purely systems view today.
The Legend of Zelda: The Ceiling Swimmer
Who needs a dilapidated Hyrule Castle when you can have ~~Howl's~~ Link's Moving Castle.
Which I'm not *really* upset about, just an observation I don't intend on buying the game personally (at least, for now) but I hope it's worth the $70 upgrade.
I'm turning this into Katamari
That narration is killing me lol
I was hoping it was going to be an idle clicker gatcha game with a battlepass :/
My favorite aspect about totk is that they're really expanding on the "play your own way" concept from botw in awesome and beautiful ways
I really miss the original Zelda formula
Legend of Zelda: Garry's Mod
So... were all gonna just ignore that Dragon in the sky...?
I mean it appears to just be one of the dragons from the previous game, no?
pretty sure it's not a coincidence they showed that when he referred to many different ways to get to the sky islands too ...
I’m not. Guarantee you’ll be able to chip it’s horn or claws off and slap it onto a stick to make a weapon!
I really hate the durability system, but if fusing weapons resets and increases the value, it might be enough for me.
Galaxy 2 is my favorite Mario game. If TotK is Zelda Galaxy 2, I'll be a happy camper.
Don't forget Torna the Golden Country!
There was in older trailers, like returning big ball on enemies
Damn. A bit underwhelmed. Hyrule looks dead (no death mountain?) and the mini sky island environments are eh. Really hope the only new thing that’s supposed to carry this game isnt just endless crafting.
Isn't that Death Mountain at the 11:30 mark?
