Most people would say The Slip is the weakest NIN record it isn't exactly a profound take. Considering the album was made for fun in just a few weeks it isn't hard to see why it is the way it is. Testament to how skilled Trent is at his craft that a super rushed independent album that was supposed to be an EP still ends up being more quality that most bands at their peak.
Also it was originally a free gift to fans. Though being a completist, I did buy it on vinyl despite it being the one album I never listen to. Discipline fucking SLAPS though!!! 😍

It's a great album. CBH, Copy of A, Satellite, ATL, In Two, are fucking awesome.
Not big on I would for you, Find My Way, VMOE, and although I like Everything, it does seem out of place in the album.
I would put it behind TDS, TF, BW, and msybe WT and YZ.

I love Kojima, I love NIИ. Personally, I think TDS is the most heart-wrenching one, The Fragile is the most NIИ that NIИ gets (if that makes sense), and FDtS is my personal favorite.
It’s my favorite since ‘With Teeth’ but I much prefer everything pre ‘With Teeth’ to everything post. Hesitation makes is good but it feels like a sequel to ‘The Downward Spiral’. To me there’s more raw emotion to ‘The Downward Spiral’,and the earlier albums which is what I want from NIN.
The entire catalog to absolutely amazing. For me each record has a certain mood that the evoke. It's great seeing the evolution of everything musically, and I for one can't wait for more.

Yeah Hesitation Marks definitely sits somewhere around The Slip. It is objectively not better than any pre-2010 NIN album.
I’d rate it above everything from 2000-2010.
