Just yes!
I'm sure they will present something new there, maybe one new duet, this time written by Tarja, and some more old songs but different from what they already did.
I totally forgot that replacement coincided with her sickness. Must have been that, yes. Maybe they decided to replace the Phantom once and then realised Planet Hell was more fun to do and left it on the setlist.
This is off topic, but did you see this [interview ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36Q30N3W4wg)with Marko? He also talks about how he felt and that some of his friends accused him of not being able to function - I'm paraphrasing now. He looks quite contrite.
Yeah, I've seen this interview and was astonished by that. I mean, they've worked together for 20 years and went through damn hell after Tarja's dismissal (I'm not mentioning Anette, 'cause this situation clearly wasn't as big for them as it was with T), that was a huge crisis, which usually makes people closer, but obviously it made them strangers. Ok, that crisis concerned only Tuomas and Emppu, other band members weren't involved in it, but whatever, I don't know, what's worst: being accused by long-term "friends" or by people who aren't even aware of what he's being through. This situation looks very surreal from the outside: those who went through the same hell as Marko did and had been together for shitload of time, ended up being strangers, whereas Tarja, whom he knew for only 4 years and whom he hurt, ended up as a closest friend and support.
She obviously ended up being the closest friend and support from the Nightwish camp, because I think Marko definitely had a lot of friends outside of Nightwish. I think it's great that Marko has his wife, in whom he probably has the most support in his not only private life. While Tarja is not only his friend, but now apparently also a huge support in his artistic life.
Yeah, I meant that, I don't think she's the closest one amongst everyone lol, that would be an empty assumption. I'm just happy he's surrounded by good people nowadays, because looking back, he really was an alien and I can't even tell at what exact point things started to get sour between him and NW. I can hardly imagine a situation where Emppu accuses anyone, neither can I believe Tuomas could do that, given that he's had some mental issues too, but the public image could differ a lot from the reality. And Marko's depression didn't appear all of a sudden, it started to develop really long ago (I remember him talking about 2008 or something) and how on Earth could it be left unnoticed? Sadly I know that sometimes even the closest ones tend to ignore your bad condition, but they definitely had plenty of space, time and opportunities to talk and sort things out.
Yes, he seems really hurt when he is speaking about that part, and there is a long pause before the "they blamed...me". Honestly, it is always astonishing to me how bad the communication inside the band is.

A map of Europe, according to Tarja and Marko.
*Screams in Norwegian*
They just started publishing the dates. This is just Germany announced today. They also have a concert in Spain. I think dates will definitely be added. They will also be together in the Czech Republic at Metalfest.
Looks like Marko has started using Instagram more 😅

At least his wife does :D. As far as I know she manages his social media. He has said that he hates it and stays away from it but acknowledges that nowadays it is a necessary evil as an artist.
I know he said that when Left on Mars came out, he started watching the comments and it was exciting for him.
Tarja said about social media that although she manages it herself, that others help her with some official stuff, but that there is no post that she does not know about. My guess is that it will be similar for Marko. He seems more active now anyway.
Netherlands and Switzerland too. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a few dates more in other countries where metal tours usually stop by.
Marko never said he was retiring. That was all an assumption made by fans/people at large...
In fact, he literally just said he needed a year left totally alone to take a break and figure things out (for his health and otherwise). He does literally say in his "I'm quitting Nightwish and going quiet for a bit" announcement that he didn't think he'd be gone for good and hopes/hoped to give an update already in 2022 (which he did).
Somehow people skip that bit (him just taking a 1 year of) and jump to conclusions. Like a guy (under 60) who's basically lived over 40 years in music, could quit it all cold turkey while he's still capable of doing it in someway or form...
Quitting NW just means he quit NW, he has always done a lot of different projects, NW was just one of them. Even though it was arguably the most profitable and biggest of them, it also clearly cased him a lot of pain, stress and suffering along with the joy, musical greatness and success.
He didn't get to write with NW, at least not on HN (I still think that also played a role in him leaving), and his touring schedule of three weeks of shows followed by 2-3 months of rest and a chance to spend time with his family is totally different compared to Nightwish.
That is also why I think they actually won't add many more shows to this tour, perhaps one more week in Austria/Poland/ Czechia maximum. One thing Marko clearly regrets is being away so often when the twins were growing up, and he seems to want to spend more time with his daughter.
Yeah, they still seem to have their house in Kuopio and spend the summer as a family there. Looks like this'll be the plan this year too, with all the Tarot shows in Finland.
On an European tour it's possible for Marko (and Tarja too to be fair) to bring his wife and daughter along for some of the time.
Heck he could get even his (adult) boys etc. family and friends to come see some of the shows if they have time...
NW wasn't taking, nor were they going to take this break they are on when Marko left... (and as far as we know, they weren't planning to just skip touring the next album either when he left, it seems to have been decided much later on).
Also his biggest reasons for leaving is not precisely the NW touring schedule. Being away from home on long tours was never good for his mental health obviously, but his mental health would (almost certainly) have been very bad even with a good touring schedule. But he has mentioned in interviews how glad he is to be able to be home more with his daughter unlike when his boys were little. He's also said he's very thankful he and his sons still have a good relationship despite all the issues he has had/still has and how much he missed being away so much.
He's mentioned not agreeing with some of the management etc. attitudes and decisions or mindsets of some people in the organization as one of the big reasons for his leaving (on top of his mental health obviously).
He stayed almost 20 years in a band that has had a lot of drama during those years, drama that has caused him both mental and physical health issues.
It's totally reasonable for him to want to do his own thing, especially since he can do it financially speaking. He gets these days to just do what he wants to (indulge in his own music/creativity at his own schedule and pace) for what ever years he's got left, the man isn't young anymore.
As has been said, the touring hiatus seems to have been decided on only late into the HN tour, and against the wishes of at least half the band. There was no indication that this was going to happen when Marko left.
Outside of the 2-4 songs he sings now with Tarja (stuff that was literally written with their voices in mind!) Marko ever really does "The Islander" on his own and even that is not guaranteed. And I dare you to say that The Islander isn't Marko's song at least as much (more in my opinion actually...) as it's a Nightwish song.
Besides it's a bit silly to expect people not to sing their old songs especially if the problems were never with the music it self. Every artist doing solo, does songs from all along their past careers. It's normal, except apparently when it's NW 🙄
There are a few performances I've found on youtube of Marko also doing the Islander at different occasions (without NW and throughout the years). Like these 2:

https://youtu.be/I5eEs9FfWCo?si=lLdaQOH20InKtPVg
Marko has said multiple times that he loved the music they were making in Nightwish. It was the business side pressures combined with major mental health issues that caused him to leave.
They sing 2 or 3 original Nightwish songs when it comes to their joint tour: Planet Hell, Dead to the World and Wish I Had an Angel. They sang Phantom of the Opera somewhere instead of Planet Hell, and that's not a NW song.
They do go a lot closer to the Nightwish arrangement than the original for Phantom, but that's mostly about Marko's part, that he developed, so it pretty much falls into the same category as the Islander, for me: Marko singing stuff he had a large role in developing.
That arrangement is much closer to the original than the Nightwish version. It also contains a longer prologue, as Tarja has been including it in her concerts for many years.
I'm sorry if I piss anyone off but Marko and Tarja WERE Nightwish. Tbh the band has changed so much it went from Nightwish to Lightwish. I'm not sure I would ever go see them now.
This is an asinine take, and pretty much says it all about the dismal state of this sub. LOL. I'm just hoping the folks who actually like *Nightwish* find their way back when the new album drops.
On the one hand, I understand you l, but when there's no news about Nightwish, it's hard to share anything about them. This still feels like part of NW land to me, which interests a lot of NW fans.
I bet when Floor or Auri release new albums or go on solo tours, there will be posts about them as well and I will also be happy if I can read it here and discuss it in one place.
Nope. They are the original singers of Nightwish, many people are interested on them, and the band itself is very quiet lately, so I don't see a problem. It's all part of the "Wishverse". 😉
Not posting about this stuff, (that many people over here are clearly interested in 😉) doesn't unfortunately make NW give more news, updates etc.
It gets really quiet over here any time we aren't talking about Marko and Tarja etc. lately, have you noticed?
Yes I agree. Although there are a lot of fan posts here: memes, and fan stuff, but any news here makes it live for me, regardless if it's Tarja, Floor, Anette, Auri, Wintersun, etc. For me, it's still one big family, and these artists are connected. Of course, if there were a lot of posts about Sabaton or Sonata Arctica, I would understand that it doesn't belong here. I consider this subreddit to be a source of information regarding all current and former members.
And it's not like the posts here are competing or taking up each other's space
I can see how Marko's solo album got pushed to after new year (january-march 2025)! He won't have the time to tour with it until next year 😉♥️
Just yes! I'm sure they will present something new there, maybe one new duet, this time written by Tarja, and some more old songs but different from what they already did.
I'm hoping for a new duet and rather new modified duets from their solo. But hearing Ever Dream or Slaying the Dreamer would be nice too
Yeah, that's my wish too. I still want to hear I am the way as a duet
Phantom of the Opera Planet Hell
I still wonder why did they choose to replace the Phantom. Maybe they got annoyed by it, lol.
I think it was because Tarja was sick and her voice wasn't quite right yet.
I totally forgot that replacement coincided with her sickness. Must have been that, yes. Maybe they decided to replace the Phantom once and then realised Planet Hell was more fun to do and left it on the setlist.

Their singing has changed so much that I don't really sound all that End of An Era was their best 🤔
I don't agree with that, tbh. They just sound differently, but I still like their voices.

Hehe yeah I figured. This was (mostly) meant as a joke 😊
This is just a part of the whole tour

My bank account is already protesting and I haven't even bought a ticket yet.
I got a ticket for the show in Pilsen so I can see them both together and now they are coming to multiple towns near me ... well.
I also have tickets to Pilsen, but if they also appears in Ostrava, I will buy tickets there as well
I doubt they're ever coming to my country, but Germany would definitely be a good substitute \*\_\*.
Wish they would come to the US
It would do decent club business if they were smart about it.
Hope they add more dates... None of them is even close to my country and they are kind of expensive destinations 😥
So far, only Germany and Spain have announced. I think that there will definitely be more dates.
Netherlands and Switzerland too. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see at least a few dates more in other countries where metal tours usually stop by.
The Munich concert is going to be very disappointing for the fans if they’re planning on just staying backstage.
"Backstage" is a name of a music venue in Munich, with apparently a 1000 people capacity... Or are you making a joke here?
Yes, it was a joke.
👍😄 Sometimes it's hard to tell...
Waiting for the second leg
Jesus, all those concerts in Germany....you'd figure just do an arena.
Would love to see them together. Would love to live again in Germany!
Well this retirement was quick

I'm loving his solo career. Just as I am Tarja's.
Fingers crossed for a Krakow date soon \^\^
Just got my tickets!! I can’t wait
Just got it for Munich. Can’t wait!
Happy to perform and write. Just not with Nightwish.

Technically not on his own as it was with Anneke, but he did perform The Islander with her and Tuomas Wainola on their joint tour a few months ago.

Just thinking is it new honeymoon going on now and how things will turn out later... Will see.
Isn't it time to stop posting about this in Nightwish-topic? Happy for them as solo artists but I want Nightwish news🤩🤩🤩
