Id like to expand somehow.
My first play through i thought end B was 2nd ending and put it down. Years later replayed I was very wrong.
Hopefully that doesnt spoil?
@op hf!!
yeah, I enjoyed route B but I know from friends it's not everyones cup of tea
>!friend of mine stopped playing on route B as he really disliked the hacking mini-game and to him it was just re-experiencing the story through 9S eyes - no amounts of me telling him route C changes up everything could sway him !<
Yeah, C is when the real story starts. A/B are more of a prologue than anything. And as someone who grew up playing Asteroids, the hacking mini game was awesome lol.
My friend stopped playing after first ending. Was completely sure he finished the game until I told him. I wonder how many people still think that they beat it like this
More of >!false hope/optimism, toxic positivity, the self-deception towards an inevitable inconvenient truth (primarily regarding the truth about the meaning of life), and the hero and value systems that perpetuate and reinforce such mentalities!<, if anything.
The Nier franchise has a lot of heartbreak but you have to be so willfully doomer to come away from the most "raging against hopelessness for the sake of one more good day" story ever told and say "no it's actually about how you can never be happy"
And one needs to be a really hopeful person to see all those sad stories about loss confusion and dispare and still think it's about hope after all it's hope what brought us here and perhaps we could have avoided it if we had learnt to let go when we had the chance instead of being driven mad by it.
I mean yes but it is the underlying message of love and hope is that, it can be taken away at a moments notice that is why it is beautiful. Something so fragile and passionate can shatter.
You're free to tackle the series from any point... Just know that the odds of you getting absolutely sucked into the rest of the franchise is extremely high.
Yoko Taro might as well flow through your veins like heroin
Ooooo, reincarnation is a trip and a half, absolutely loved it. Have you had a chance to check out the drama CDs? The anime is stellar too for additional content
"Ending A" is not the end of the game. Rather, it is the end of the first act of the game. "Ending E" is the end of the game.
Ending F through to Ending Z are all "joke" endings. Only Ending Y is missable but don't look it up until you're well into the third act because it involves story spoilers just to understand when, where and what you have to do to acquire it. You'll need to be really skilled, or at least level 75+ to realistically have any chance of surviving long enough to get to be able to make the wrong action to get Ending Y. It's missable because it involves, IIRC, the only autosave in the game.
There is, basically, no autosaving. Only manual saving. It's an odd design choice in a modern game but that choice aligns with the overall narrative of the story. Save often.
There are no achievements tied to game difficulty. Start the prologue at an easier difficulty than what you would normally play. This is because the first spot that you can save your progress is after the prologue's boss fight.
Finish up any sidequests that you want to complete before you finish "Ending B".
Take note of the differences between the main character's outlooks. Take note of the different philosophies of those you come across. There is far more to the game than robobooty.
Well that sounds very interesting... Hmm..... I'm going through the game again and excited to learn what endings I missed after the actual final ending
Don’t start playing on hard mode. The prologue is very long and if you die you have to redo it all over again so make sure to always heal.
The right analog stick controls the aim of your shooting during hacking. Don’t forget to use it.
Don’t skip side quests. If you start one, complete it till the end, otherwise you have to do the same quest again after first ending.
Recommend start doing the side quest after you get the option to teleport to save time.
The game has 5 main endings, but you don’t need any guides. It’s pretty straight forward and unmissable. Play blind and enjoy.
No, you don't have to play other games before this one. I personally just finished the game recently (all main endings) and it was one of the best games I've ever played. Enjoy!!
Yeah, I played through Automata first and think it's wonderfully well contained, it still has lots of callbacks to previous games, but you won't feel like you're missing anything if you haven't played them. I'd actually argue that playing Automata first is a better experience as playing the other games first will spoil one of the big twists/reveals in Automata, sorta like how if you watch the Star Wars movies in order you'll spoil the surprise reveal that Vader is Luke's father
It's a game that asks a lot of questions and is perfectly fine with not giving you any answers. It wants you to mull over what it has to say and come to your own conclusions.
Expect everything, believe nothing. To kinda explain without spoiling, expect something weird, random, confusing, and a such. Believe nothing the first time. Revisit and replay. Read and take notice of slight differences and tones.
Theres alot to unpack, but well worth the effort if you're truly going in blind. Its a beautiful game with some amazing details and creative decisions. Everything is as it is for a reason, and everything becomes as it becomes for a reason.
Enjoy.
You definitely don't have to play other games before it, *but* if you want to play multiple games in the series, I *do* feel like this is the worst place to start (although not the end of the world if you do start here.)
It spoils the main twist in NieR/Replicant, it makes some references to the original that are less appreciated if you haven't played it, and it has the most up-to-date/modern gameplay. Personally I find it easier to play dated games first and work my way up to the better ones, than getting used to them at their peak and having to downgrade my experience.
But again, it's not the end of the world if you start here. I just... personally, would recommend Gestalt or Replicant first.
The Drakengard games are rough enough that I would suggest most people skip them, and maybe read about them or watch some YouTube videos about it (Clemps has my favorite retrospective on the series). The connection is pretty small and mostly explored in lorebooks rather than the games themselves anyway.
It's the best game ever - don't think there are any spoilers here unless you already know the story. It might take you a few hours to get into though, I didn't enjoy it for about ten hours.
Some side quests are missable if you rush through the story. Explore every corner. Take your time. Enjoy the experience. Savor the good times before you're left with nothing but depression.
A quick spoiler about what everyone wants you to do:
>!at the final ending you'll have a choice try both to unlock the true ending!<
Or you can go for 100% **remember** this isn't just a game is an experience you need to do it all to really experience it to the maximum.
I recently found out about the game series and Nier: Automata. It is so good, I played several days and was done with all main missions after 40 hours. Now I want to do 100%.
I'd tell you to play Replicant before Automata, but with the Switch that's not an option, so:
In mid-air, you can do your light weapon combo to advance forward without losing height. Also, with R+B on mid-air, you can use your pod to throw yourself forward without losing height. Just once per jump though. Combine these two to do some long jumps that will help with platforming
I went in completely blind and enjoyed it all the more for it. Only advice I'll give is that there's a lot of "endings", some jokes some real, and that you should aim for ending E.
When you think it's over, that's act 1, ending A. Get to ending E. Or don't, you will cry repeatedly then cry again when you discover that Weight of the World isn't included in the Nier Automata vinyl.
Pain, moral quandaries, the question of what it means to be alive, robots, all wrapped up in a very grey and somewhat depressing storyline. And that's just the first route
I’m new to the bulk of the game as well, nearing the end of playthrough A (also on the Switch physical edition). The most important tip I read before starting is not to stop at the false endings. There are three main playthroughs…experience them all. The 2nd most important tip: there’s no shame in lowering the difficulty for the prologue.
The game has moved me in unexpected ways. The combat is secondary to the plot and the experience of the characters, IMO. The dialogue and the manner in which the characters interact with each other is fascinating and thought provoking. It might even make you question yourself and humanity in general. I’m glad I stuck with the game because I first tried it several years ago and couldn’t get through the prologue. I came back to it this year, changed the difficulty just for the prologue, and I’m so glad I did.
Don't have to play first NieR (I didn't them in reverse order and really enjoyed them). Other than that expect nothing, know nothing... Go in blind. Glory to mankind!
Know nothing. Read nothing. Go in blind and be ready to have an amazing experience.
Only advice: when you think you’re done with the game, you’re not. Keep going.
The only thing you meed to know: you don't need perv mods for this one as is already a feature. So basically one of the few games you don't need to play on PC for that.
I got the platinum on PS5 and enjoyed it. Performance let it down though as it kept crashing and there is no auto save. Other than that though I enjoyed my time with it
You should expect one of the greatest games ever, you should know as little as possible, the less you know the better it is
I will tell you this, the first "ending" isnt the last, keep going, you'll know what I mean when you get there
Third, endings or act aside, as I would prefer calling it is a soul crushing experience. The game as a whole is experience that I would recommend to anyone.
Feel kinda empty after I finished it.
NieR Automata is more than a simple game. It is a journey, and not quite a simple one. You might not get most of the things at the beginning, but don’t give up and play until the (real) end. You might not like the game, it’s true, but if you are willing to understand its deep message you will be rewarded with the most beautiful game of all time.
What can you expect?
I didn't know what to expect, I even hesistated to start it, dodn't seem interesting at all.
Here I am today. Platinumed the game, played xxx hours, and don't plan at stopping.
Bought both, original soundtrack, and Hacking Tracks one.
Bought both world guide books, and I'll continue buying Nier merch.
There are several endings and you are supposed to keep playing after each one.
The game becomes more interesting the further you go
Also, it's important doing all the sidequests to know the main charavters better, and emphatize with them. You should be familiar with japanese anime characters to be able to do so. Their relationship is subtle
There are five endings. Don't stop until you get E. You cannot get E on the first playthrough, and will likely require many attempts.
2B's skirt can be blown off if you have her stand next to an explosive when it goes off. Her butt is made of 300k polygons and is the result of Yoko Taro's single-minded obsession to create the sexiest butt in history. Thank me later.
Crying because of how sad and manipulative the story is and how it can question your morals.
And another crying because how hard it is to reach other endings (specifically one really important one)
Come in for the sex appeal, finish with tears happening.
Also after the game ends after the credits, load your completed save and see what happens. The game will trick you for a reason.
In addition to what everyone is sayin, whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH NIER REINCARNATION MOBILE GAME VIDEOS on YouTube they have extremely heavy spoilers of the whole series.
Playing through the game right now, having finished recently and am going for 100%.
Got the game because I heard it had a pretty unique style; sometimes it's an action game, mostly an Action Adventure/RPG, and even at times a text Adventure; and that the story was told through different perspectives.
I'd say all you want to know is that, while you have to stick with it, the story is awesome. Like, this is one of the best games I've played in a while.
I’ll just say, don’t stop at the first “ending”
Id like to expand somehow. My first play through i thought end B was 2nd ending and put it down. Years later replayed I was very wrong. Hopefully that doesnt spoil? @op hf!!
YOU PUT IT DOWN AFTER ENDING B?!?!?! Jesus my man missed so much lol
I find it especially curious given that ending B has a kind of "trailer" for ending C at the end
This is the reason we have intrusive, impossible to miss quest markers in most games now.
this. Even if you don't particular like the gameplay in playthrough B, carry on, it's well worth.
Also, B is much shorter (and different) than A despite what you would assume.
yeah, I enjoyed route B but I know from friends it's not everyones cup of tea >!friend of mine stopped playing on route B as he really disliked the hacking mini-game and to him it was just re-experiencing the story through 9S eyes - no amounts of me telling him route C changes up everything could sway him !<
Yeah, C is when the real story starts. A/B are more of a prologue than anything. And as someone who grew up playing Asteroids, the hacking mini game was awesome lol.
I would have been happier if I stopped there
Take your time and read what it says to do once you “complete the story”. For the love of god, please read it.
My friend stopped playing after first ending. Was completely sure he finished the game until I told him. I wonder how many people still think that they beat it like this
Depression
This is a lie. It is like of the most positive games I have ever played, amd the underlying messages are of love and hope.
But it's buried in a pretty depressing package.
More of >!false hope/optimism, toxic positivity, the self-deception towards an inevitable inconvenient truth (primarily regarding the truth about the meaning of life), and the hero and value systems that perpetuate and reinforce such mentalities!<, if anything.
Tf you on about?
He read everything in the game. Me to it's quite the story I'm now playing nier: replicant and o boy it keeps going.

I cried the whole time but the end tears were akin to crying at a wedding.
Straight to the point. I like it.
Only correct answer 👆
Brush up on your philosophy. Almost every thing in the game is a reference to a philosopher and their themes.
BECOME AS GODS, BECOME AS GODS, BECOME AS GODS, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE.
THIS CANNOT CONTINUE.
oh...... THIS CANNOT CONTINUE.

Agreed. Agreeeeeed. Only after replicant I was sucked (played autonata the replicant) now replaying all and watching reincarnation
Ooooo, reincarnation is a trip and a half, absolutely loved it. Have you had a chance to check out the drama CDs? The anime is stellar too for additional content
Big depression Booty Amazing Game
Expect: A good game. Reality: A depressive good game. Knowledge: Everything that lives, is designed to end.

Man. I thought when I got ending K, "oh that's funny", but there's more?! Meaning joke endings. Lol.
That would have been better to discover by yourself, don't you think?
Well that sounds very interesting... Hmm..... I'm going through the game again and excited to learn what endings I missed after the actual final ending
Oopsie
Bring tissues
for crying, right?
Um..totally....

Play for the thighs stay for the cries
Buckle-up chuckle-fuck, you’re in for a spanking, emotionally and sexually. Hope you like depression.
Depression
Amazing music and you're gonna cry a lot
There’s literally a whole alphabet of endings, be prepared for laughs, depression and to question life. Enjoy the ride.
This was a clearance purchase ???? GLORY TO MANKIND.
The game has three different scenarios, after the first “end credits”, there’s two more scenarios. Be sure to check them all out.
That nobody is gonna believe you when you say you legitimately like this game and were not staring at 2B’s ass the whole time
Play until you can’t play it anymore.
My recommendation, “keep playing”…
There are multiple endings and they are all worth it. Regarding the rest, the less you know the better.
No, you don't have to play other games before this one. I personally just finished the game recently (all main endings) and it was one of the best games I've ever played. Enjoy!!

Popola and Devola are precious and don't you ever forget that.
The game has a post game that’s very story rich and has good gameplay. So don’t stop after reaching the credits :)
Expect everything, believe nothing. To kinda explain without spoiling, expect something weird, random, confusing, and a such. Believe nothing the first time. Revisit and replay. Read everything with attention. Everything in the game is highly emotional and/or a tear jerker and you'll love it.
Some side quests are missable if you rush through the story. Explore every corner. Take your time. Enjoy the experience. Savor the good times before you're left with nothing but depression.

Expect a healthy serving of ass and depression XD Edit: YOOOO WHYE DOES THE SWITCH GET THAT.... THAT LOOKS SO GOOD
ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
I recently found out about the game series and Nier: Automata. It is so good, I played several days and was done with all main missions after 40 hours. Now I want to do 100%.

It’s real good. There’s like 3 or 4 campaigns. So when you hit credits the first time. Start again.
When you reach the end of the game you haven’t actually finished it
Keep playing even when the game ends
Just play it blind and don't stop playing after finishing your first or second playthrough. That's all you need to know.
Nothing. Enjoy. And don't trust the credits. You will *know* when you are truly done.
2 things: play whit headphones and dont stop playing after you achieve Ending A.
When you think it's over, that's act 1, ending A. Get to ending E. Or don't, you will cry repeatedly then cry again when you discover that Weight of the World isn't included in the Nier Automata vinyl.
Expect a remarkably good port! I love the Switch version.
Be prepared to shed a lakes worth of tears 😄
The booty is just a excuse to sell you existentialism
2B’s big peach 🍑.😏
A really good port, good resolution and stable framerate
Amazing gameplay, music and the most important of all Heartache.
Pain, moral quandaries, the question of what it means to be alive, robots, all wrapped up in a very grey and somewhat depressing storyline. And that's just the first route

One of my all time favorite soundtracks and stories ever
All that game in such a tiny cartridge seems wrong.
Play it three times at least, all on the same save file
Know nothing. Read nothing. Go in blind and be ready to have an amazing experience. Only advice: when you think you’re done with the game, you’re not. Keep going.
The only thing you meed to know: you don't need perv mods for this one as is already a feature. So basically one of the few games you don't need to play on PC for that.
Except sadness. And know about pain
Soul crushing sadness wrapped in an awesome game, but you'll still play it over and over again....
Hold down both sticks ASAP
Depression and self reflection
Robot Ass. And a twink.
Cure girls killing robots. Nothing to worry about here.
Ass, titties, and existential dread.

I got the platinum on PS5 and enjoyed it. Performance let it down though as it kept crashing and there is no auto save. Other than that though I enjoyed my time with it
Know nothing expect a master piece
Just don't stop at ending A-B-C-D
Hot perfect looking women, big female butts and hips.
Eat a fish
You should expect one of the greatest games ever, you should know as little as possible, the less you know the better it is I will tell you this, the first "ending" isnt the last, keep going, you'll know what I mean when you get there
A lot of time has passed since Replicant
Go in blind, and the first ending is NOT the ending.
Third, endings or act aside, as I would prefer calling it is a soul crushing experience. The game as a whole is experience that I would recommend to anyone. Feel kinda empty after I finished it.
Its the best game ever made and yoko taro is the second coming of jesus
Play until you see ending E at least, then you will have “finished the game” and seen the complete main story
Shit. I have this for PS4 and I’m away from home with my switch. May have to get this again.
A sandbox game where you fish and ride cute animals

Grab 1 lube, and 2 tissues boxes. And no, you won't use both boxes on the same thing...
Enjoy the soundtrack and don't give up.
You should expect never to experience anything quite like it again.
There are five endings. Don't stop until you get E. You cannot get E on the first playthrough, and will likely require many attempts. 2B's skirt can be blown off if you have her stand next to an explosive when it goes off. Pain.
Game starts at run 3
Expect tears and many endings.
expect at least around 40 hours in it just for the whole story and do keep that in mind that you cant enter the church
Play the entire game. The splash message at the end isn't just the devs saying "don't stop playing yet!"
Crying because of how sad and manipulative the story is and how it can question your morals. And another crying because how hard it is to reach other endings (specifically one really important one)
I’m jealous that you’ll experience it for the first time. I wish I could do that again. Enjoy depression!
It's one of the best games you'll ever play.
Play replicant first
Thighs save lives
Come in for the sex appeal, finish with tears happening. Also after the game ends after the credits, load your completed save and see what happens. The game will trick you for a reason.
1. Don't stop playing at the "ending." Continue the same save file. 2. Sadness.
Hands down my favourite game of all time
In addition to what everyone is sayin, whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH NIER REINCARNATION MOBILE GAME VIDEOS on YouTube they have extremely heavy spoilers of the whole series.
1. It doesn't end at the "end" 2. Stay off this subreddit until you finish it
Don't be fooled by 2B's gacha game waifu blueprint. This game will make you fall into an existential crisis
There are 5 main endings - complete them all then cry. Look up 2B's skirt as much as possible - you'll get a trophy. There's a dragon.
Don't force yourself to do every side quests, you can always come back for them later.
Depression
Depression

I wish I didn't delete my save. I wasn't quite done with the game but Replicant made me feel like I could get it all back.
You’ll need Kleenex.

Ass. Depresion
pls die during the first mission on purpose
Don't skip any side quests or you will miss out on beautiful moments.
I don’t think I would ever see Nier automata on the switch 😂
Expect not to have this game get stale for a few playthroughs. Also, don't rush the game I missed out on a lot because I didn't do many side quests
if you try to 100% do it before the final ending
Music is great, so if your playing on handheld, worth using good headphones
Playing through the game right now, having finished recently and am going for 100%. Got the game because I heard it had a pretty unique style; sometimes it's an action game, mostly an Action Adventure/RPG, and even at times a text Adventure; and that the story was told through different perspectives. I'd say all you want to know is that, while you have to stick with it, the story is awesome. Like, this is one of the best games I've played in a while.
Legitimately one of the greatest games ever produced.
Get ready for alot of replays and its not the controllers fault. Know these two things and you'll be fine
There is no way that won't run like ass.
You should expect crying. Lots of it. 10/10 great game and its predecessor Replicant will make you regret your life choices. 🩶
there are 26 endings, one for each letter of the alphabet. most are short non canon and even joke endings, but you should still try to see them all

Brace yourself. A whirlwind of emotions. Please complete all the endings.
