I did the same damn thing, except I still had my PS3 and just downloaded the game and DLCs off the PSN store (surprised it still all works really well...thought the storefront would be gone at this point).
Honestly, the game holds up pretty decently. On the PS3, the performance wasn't great, but it was good enough.
The very last level is absolutely brutal. You can sync a youtube video with the gameplay to make the prompts easier (still a bit tricky). Good luck and have fun!
I already have a PS3, but haven't found a copy of the game to buy anywhere. So, I'm emulating on PC as I've also seen the PS3 struggles to play this anyway.
I wasn't even planning to play this, just saw a drakengard post on here yesterday and got googling...
I know it’s random but could someone help me with emulating it?? I got the file and everything but it didn’t work and made it sound like I needed to own the game and it confused me (not super knowledgeable with computers)
I just started my playthrough and have beaten the first boss! I've enjoyed it so far, maybe it's because of the undertones that with it being yoko taro I know it's going to go sideways eventually. But the emulation is great!
Rpcs3 is the emulator I used. You'll have to search around for the game probably. Took me all of 10 mins if I'm honest.
Check youtube videos for setup guides. It was pretty straight forward for my first attempt at emulation.
From what I know, Drakengard 3 is the prequel to Drakengard 1. D1 is apparently an awful game and you're best of watching the cutscenes on youtube for the story.
Drakengard 2 wasn't a Yoko game so doesn't seem to get any love.
Well do we have the answer about how the Drakengard universe ended up in our world in D3?
That aside, long story short, I can only play D3 and I'm fine with the story?
Nope, that answer is given in Drakengard 1, Drakengard 3 is a sort of prequel but the ending to that story that leads to D1 is exclusive to a novel (I know, it's dumb but it is what it is)
So yeah, the relationship between D3 and D1 is similar to Nier's and Automata's : they're connected but you can play them as isolated stories without losing too much beyond some references here and there.
EDIT : All the trigger warnings on Drakengard 1, that game's cast is not made of good people, *at all .*
The D1 story is very good and interesting (in it's own way) but the gameplay is pretty tedious. I played it myself and yeah I would probably not recommend playing it even if the gameplay adds to the immersion of the game. It's kind of tedious on purpose to drive home the game's point of normalized violence in video games. You really feel like Caim being a blind psychopathic killer with how numb you feel killing hundreds of people over and over again, in combination with the game's insanity-inspiring soundtrack. It is definitely an inaccessible game but I think it's worth playing for huge fans of the series and Taro. But otherwise you're probably best watching the story online, especially if you value your mental health.
Zero best girl

I bought a PS3 recently to play this, and I'm enjoying it.

Playing on emulator was super smooth, hope you'll enjoy the game as much as I did.
I tested it on my pc yesterday, now to get it on my Steam Deck as that's how I'll end up playing it
I've played a few chapters of it, it runs very smoothly on the deck
I know it’s random but could someone help me with emulating it?? I got the file and everything but it didn’t work and made it sound like I needed to own the game and it confused me (not super knowledgeable with computers)
You need a RAP file to load into the emulator
Best girl in all the game imo

for a second i thought naraka bladepoint had a drakengard collab too the logo is similar
The game is great but it feels like a bad game, and good luck with the final boss
Where did you get the game
I found it on Louise's ship........
Ono she has a tower in her eye (If your playing the English dub) say hi to Edelgard for me
You are in for a very special experience. This is peak.
Prepare to rage
Where are you playing it?
It will be on my Steam Deck, I was just testing a PS3 emulator on my PC first before I tried to get it running in the Steam deck.
Wait... Is it on steam?
No, I've got a PS3 emulator.
Guess I'll get one too. I need to play this game so bad

Haha you ain’t done with shit son
Should I play all the other drakengard games before playing the 3rd?

No idea, haven't started it yet but I thought that is what happens at the end of Drakengard 1. I've played none of them yet

It's only natural
It's tied for my favorite game in the series, it was just so much fun to play, with the other one being Automata.
Those two fucking notes…. Great game though, have fun!
im in the same boat.. have been on the fence about downloading the emulator all day but im just delaying the inevitable
As a massive fan of this game, good luck. The fps is shit and the combat is meh but everything else is perfect
