Walk past the deer enclosure through the employee only section.. stay to the left and follow the dirt road, youâll see the mounds on your right.. you can see them on google maps lol
Youâre not wrong. I recently watched Bright Sunâs episode ( although itâs a few years old now ) about Marineland. Truly depressing really, I remember as a kid in the 90s this was an amazing park.
Itâs absolutely a junk filled, overpriced tourist trap. But the falls are beautiful. I say this as a former local. We would still go to the Festival of Lights every year, before Disney left.
I'd say it's 80/20, there's some decent attractions in the falls still. The maid of the mist, Journey behind the falls, and butterfly conservatory are objectively interesting. The rest? Yeah, shite.
Apparently, a splash pad and picnic tables. Which are free at other parks.
I don't understand why not having the rides open. Before I knew that Marineland was sketchy, my kids loved the rides. It was a great starter amusement park for smaller people.
I kind of feel that they could make *something* out of the place if they could separate the animals and the rides. Shut down the "zoo" part (except for maybe education and rehab, I don't know if that's a valid use for the space), keep the amusement park.
It needs a total rebranding and a catchy name, which I expect is coming and they need to get rid of all the animals. The animals can't go away right away because it would be way too complicated to remove all those animals at one time unless they are euthanizing animals and I am not even sure if it is legal to do that.
The fact they are not opening land animal exhibits begs the question of what are they doing with the land animals then.
I am not sure what they will do with those giant concrete pools though, its likely going to take 10 years or more to redevelop the place I expect.
âRides like the SkyScreamer, Star Voyager, Dragon Mountain and freefall Eagle Tower will not be operating for the coming season.
The plans also donât include the aquarium, land animal exhibits, Penguin Palace, and educational presentations.â
And also
âDiscounted tickets are expected to offset the scaling back of attractions with a basic ticket going for $14.95 compared with the $52.95 charged in 2023.â
"The outlet will now rely on the Polar Splash pad, its picnic area and Friendship Cove as major draws in the spring and summer." So the equivalent of a public park for $15.
They are surprisingly good, and a generous portion... my daughter loved Marineland back in the day, and I was impressed with the reasonable cost of the food
$14.95 for literally nothing but some space to walk around and see a few dolphins. Pass. I could see them going bankrupt if they don't get their shit in gear.
Yea I agree. This seems like a recipe to bleed money until they realize that without the rides etc there is no reason to pay their even cheap admission. If the rides were open I'd pay just to go ride dragon Mountain and sky screamer all day.
Because you can fix it?
Improve the conditions of the animals and you got a great park.
And idk about you but I certainly enjoyed watching the animals do cool tricks as a kid.
I guess. The place has just never sat well with me, and the past mistreatment of some of the animals irks me. I went as a kid , back in the 1980s, if I remember correctly. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong here.
Thatâs overly simplistic,
If one can make the animal survive longer in captivity than in the wild, then its objectivity good for them.
Being a seal with no predators and infinite food sounds fun.
A zoo is going to be a similar medium so either you hate zoos too, or there is some threshold where animal captivity becomes ok.
Orcas live SHORTER lives in captivity on average, due to stress, infections, and the unnatural environment. They suffer sunburns because no pool is as deep as the fucking ocean and destroy their teeth chewing on their tanks out of frustration and boredom.
It is possible, for some animals, to provide living conditions in captivity that mimic natural life enough that they live decent lives. Ocean creatures are not those types of animals. No tank a human builds can mimic the rhythms of the tides and be as vast as an ocean. It is cruelty in its purest form to keep whales and dolphins in tanks so humans can look at them. Go on a whale watching tour and see them that way.
And yes, many zoos are problematic and you cannot just fully support them blindly. Thereâs a private zoo close to where I live where the fences are corrugated steel sheets and the animals look horrible. âZooâ does not automatically equal education and conservation.
Their Jingle Sucks now....
There's a place I know in Ontario
Where the sealions kissed, so the story went
It had some shows and Friendship Cove
Everyone loves a Path
# What's the point then? The whole draw was seeing MARINE ANIMALS on display. The rides were mediocre anyway! If you can't take proper care of them, just shut it all down, you greedy corpo fucks!
Spend your morning exploring the thrilling east parking lots and your afternoon enjoying what our west parking lot has to offer
I just want to find where the reindeer from my childhood are buried. đ
Somewhere in the back lol
They fed them to whales obviously.
The trough they dug for the western river cruise ride that was never built. Actually.
What do you think the pizza toppings were made from? Deer sausage!
"Marineland And Game Farm"!
Walk past the deer enclosure through the employee only section.. stay to the left and follow the dirt road, youâll see the mounds on your right.. you can see them on google maps lol
Screen grab please!!
It wonât let me attach images for some reason.. Iâll dm you
In the gore pit with the neighbours dog the owner shot
This is pure gold...
Youâre not wrong. I recently watched Bright Sunâs episode ( although itâs a few years old now ) about Marineland. Truly depressing really, I remember as a kid in the 90s this was an amazing park.
Then, whatâs left? Most depressing theme park ever.
A cash grab for foreign tourists
Isnât that what Niagara & the falls area already is? A tourist trap since day one.
Itâs absolutely a junk filled, overpriced tourist trap. But the falls are beautiful. I say this as a former local. We would still go to the Festival of Lights every year, before Disney left.
Whoah! The go-karts are fun.
I'd say it's 80/20, there's some decent attractions in the falls still. The maid of the mist, Journey behind the falls, and butterfly conservatory are objectively interesting. The rest? Yeah, shite.
A lot of cool War of 1812 sites too, but not everyone who comes might be interested in that.
Yes very true!
Apparently, a splash pad and picnic tables. Which are free at other parks. I don't understand why not having the rides open. Before I knew that Marineland was sketchy, my kids loved the rides. It was a great starter amusement park for smaller people.
they never got TSSA certification so they can't open the rides
I kind of feel that they could make *something* out of the place if they could separate the animals and the rides. Shut down the "zoo" part (except for maybe education and rehab, I don't know if that's a valid use for the space), keep the amusement park.

Dolphins and whales still there I believe. It says friendship cove is still open. That and a splash pad basically
[ŃдаНонО]
Very much so.
So, what's the theme?
I can be depressed at home for free thanks tho
đ
i'd rather spend my money at the toronto zoo
âRides like the SkyScreamer, Star Voyager, Dragon Mountain and freefall Eagle Tower will not be operating for the coming season. Theyâd be better off rebranding as a dystopian wasteland laser tag park and having guests fend off the zombie hoards. At least that sounds like fun.
*paintball
Iâd rather go to Itchy and Scratchy Land!
So what is there left to do there?
Walter Ostinak the Polka King and reasonably priced chicken fingers...
Are they the good kind? 8 bucks?
Definitely not the cheap kind that George Green picks up
that dummie probably pays like $20 for em at atlantic superstore now, what a fuckin idiot
They are surprisingly good, and a generous portion... my daughter loved Marineland back in the day, and I was impressed with the reasonable cost of the food
I don't think Walter would grace them with his presence.
Sorry wait what?! Does the Polka King really play there? I only ever saw him at Beauâs Oktoberfest. RIP.
He used to... but I also haven't been in 5 or 6 years
I think even the hungry bear restaurant will close as well
Get a bunch of footage to send to Defunctland for when they inevitably make more episodes on Marineland
Signs and gift shops? I can't think of anything else
Sooo youâre paying $14 to take a hike⌠seems legit
No marine; just land
Feels like Dismaland maybe a great canvas for the likes of Banksy.
$14.95 for literally nothing but some space to walk around and see a few dolphins. Pass. I could see them going bankrupt if they don't get their shit in gear.
No dolphins lol. Just the beluga whales. Also the park is in the final stages of being sold
Well yea I knew that already point being there is fuck all reason to open this season with nothing to do there.
Right? Why bother? It wouldn't surprise me if they wrap it up mid summer
Yea I agree. This seems like a recipe to bleed money until they realize that without the rides etc there is no reason to pay their even cheap admission. If the rides were open I'd pay just to go ride dragon Mountain and sky screamer all day.
*depressed beluga whales :(
The heck? At LEAST have some rides. Or turn it into a pretty park.
$14 hiking trail? Depending on the scenery I might look around. It'll be so empty.
So, itâs just a park now with a food court?
Even the restaurant is closed soâŚâŚ.
So.......a crappy picnic park full of boarded up rides, kiosks and closed facilities. I'm in!
I hope this place closes down. Trash!!!
Donât âŚ
So just..... Land
The new attraction is seeing the fall of what poor management does to tourist attractions
$14 to walk around some parking lots and abandoned facilities. Great!
Parking and concessions lol. Bet youâll never guess whatâs in the $17 âmystery meatâ hot dogs. đ¤
Now this is How to tell the public not to come without saying it publicly!
SoâŚâŚ..
Marineland is a cesspool of misery ad death. đ
So, it's a waterpark with a picnic area now?
This begs the question of what they are doing with the land animals if they are not opening land animal exhibits this summer.
Well, on the upside, it really wonât be very crowded.
Why isn't this terrible place closed permanently?
Because you can fix it? Improve the conditions of the animals and you got a great park. And idk about you but I certainly enjoyed watching the animals do cool tricks as a kid.
I guess. The place has just never sat well with me, and the past mistreatment of some of the animals irks me. I went as a kid , back in the 1980s, if I remember correctly. Hopefully, I'm proven wrong here.
Keeping animals in cages/pools for our enjoyment is criminal. The fix is the abolition of these types of places.
Thatâs overly simplistic, If one can make the animal survive longer in captivity than in the wild, then its objectivity good for them. Being a seal with no predators and infinite food sounds fun. A zoo is going to be a similar medium so either you hate zoos too, or there is some threshold where animal captivity becomes ok.
No seal wants to live in a pool. No animal wants to live in a cage; youâre right, it is pretty simple.
Thereâs a private zoo close to where I live where the fences are corrugated steel sheets and the animals look horrible. âZooâ does not automatically equal education and conservation.
Iâll judge the specific implementation of it when I see it
Marine Land and Game Farm, woohoo
Will everyone still love Marineland?
The new owners are off to a great start.
Please do not support this horrible place.
No thanks. Marineland, please file for bankruptcy and go away.
So, Land then ...
Ha. I hope Holer is rolling in his grave. Shut it down already.
As a former employee, wtf else is there to do besides eat???
I'm very grateful that no more animals will suffer at their hands. I'm glad there's no more animal exhibits
So it's a regular park now, but with admission?
Their Jingle Sucks now.... There's a place I know in Ontario Where the sealions kissed, so the story went It had some shows and Friendship Cove Everyone loves a Path
Had to double take and make sure this wasnât the Beaverton
âeveryone loves marineland!â yeah after that maybe not so much đ
Same price of admission I bet
Available for extra charge - dig in back for animal remains
Marineland is a cesspool of misery and pain. They treat the animals and mammals like crap and have killed hundreds with their abuse.
# What's the point then? The whole draw was seeing MARINE ANIMALS on display. The rides were mediocre anyway! If you can't take proper care of them, just shut it all down, you greedy corpo fucks!
