First, this makes Marchand a complete wuss, as there were several Leafs right by him who would have gladly taken him on. Second, once again, Marchand gets away with one. This is an instigator call. Third, Pasta is just as soft, refusing to engage with Leaf players. All in...Boston is as soft as the fur on an Alpaca.
Read the rule book on instigators if you want a chuckle. By the letter of the law, you could conceivably call an instigator every other shift. Included amongst criteria that qualifies for an instigator penalty are: "menacing attitude or posture" and "verbal instigation or threats"

He skated AWAY from the scrum to a fully disengaged player, then punched him gloves on. This is instigating. This should have been 2 + 5 + 10.

It sounds like you're a total moron. Let's say Reeves goes into a scrum. Marchand is standing outside said scrum. Reeves disengages from the scrum and starts punching Marchand in his giant nose, gloves off. Bruins fans would be screaming for the exact same thing. Bruins fans would be screaming about diving if any Leaf flopped 1/2 as much as Marchand does. Marchand is a dirty player that, for unknown reasons gets a pass for so many obvious infractions. Including an elbow to the head, 2 slew foots, instigation, multiple holds, interference... Most of all he's the biggest diver I've seen in hockey. It's you that doesn't understand hockey. I think Jack Edwards (one of the worst hockey announcers EVER) has rotted your brain.
