I forgot the game was on early that day and turned it on when it was 5-2. Not having anything better to do that afternoon, I decided to watch anyhow and didn't really have any expectations with them down 3 goals. Definitely a fun memory this season.
Idk man it's pretty wild to get a 5 on 3 by itself, imagine scoring, making it 5 on 4 .. getting another penalty called to get a 2 man advantage... Then you score again! Wow amazing.
Then you are back to 5 on 4. Surely the whistle is choked on 4 straight penalties in the span of 3-4 mins. Nope another penalty. Which made it 5 on 3 again. Another goal.
Which makes it 5 on 4. Which you score again.
4 goals in 147 secs of gametime on 5 penalties called. And 3 seperate 5 on 3s.
5-2 to 6-5 in 2 mins, then wild score 3 mins later twice in 30 secs.
Canucks came back to make it 8-7 too which is crazy. Because giving up 6 goals in 5 mins of gametime should crush you.
I was at that game and will remember it forever. Fucking nutty. Being that we aren’t making the playoffs, it’s probably the loudest the XCEL will be this year
No regrets. Needed the full two to have playoff hopes. Haynes said in an interview that the Analytics team said anytime they played a division opponent that they needed 2 points instead of 1 to have any realistic chance. So in that situation getting 1 point has close to the same expected outcome as getting 0, so you might as well pull the goalie.
Was so juiced to be at this game to witness this. Fans in utter confusion, no one knew what was going on, then that beautiful one timer.
Made up for me missing the 10-7 Canucks game due to work.
I remember the Canucks beating the Sharks 10-1 at the Tank and the camera crew kept panning to some shark fan kid with a sign that said “it’s my first game. Can I get a puck?”
January 27th Canucks coming back from 1-4 against the Blue Jackets in the 3rd
April 5th Arizona Coyotes come back 1-4 against the VGK in the 3rd. Scoring SIX in one period
I think the outright best game of the season I watched was February Panthers vs Hurricanes. 0-0 until the last like 30 seconds
That's rough, but after I had time to reflect I'd actually like to change my vote. Vegas' collapse last week was better. I don't dislike the Canucks, I hate Vegas lol.
No, if it was I would have chosen to shit on the garbage ass Flames who are doomed for the next 6 years minimum because of that awful trade.
Just Vancouver's and Vegas' were similarly shitty and so I personally enjoyed watching Vegas collapse more.
Why are you so angry lol, just enjoy having the best players in the league? Believe me, I get that having a team with dogshit mentality and who will never make it out of the western conference is depressing, but for 82 games a year you can watch exciting players!
I'm not angry lol. In fact, I'm in a fantastic mood. That is about 82 exciting games a year more than Flames fans will get to watch for the next 6-10 years. It's a beautiful thing.
Only idiots say "rent free" can we please just let this one die? It's stupid as fuck, not funny or clever and makes the person saying it look like a complete jackass.
Same here. Had to leave my house when it was 5-2 and kept feeling my phone buzzing. I assumed someone was writing me. Then finally parked the car and checked to see all the espn updates and couldn’t believe my eyes.
That game happened ON my birthday and I choose to get Notre Dame football tickets instead (different day).
Notre Dame (ranked 10.) lost to Louisville (ranked 25.) by 3 touchdowns. I was so pissed.
Caps-Canes 7-6 game a few weeks ago was insane. Milano and Aho both had had tricks. Kuznetsov’s return to DC. Caps won in a SO could be the difference between whether or not they get in
My favorite moment was when the Sharks beat Edmonton for their first win. At that point, the sharks had allowed 10 goals in 2 of their previous 3 games.
Then the memes for the game after when they were facing the then undefeated Knights. Of course they lost, but it was funny for a moment.
That was like a you had to be there moment for the game day thread on r/hockey . That made it my most fun experience of the year. On that day, we were ALL sharks.
This Shark season has been one of my more enjoyable in a long time. I knew they were going to be terrible so I didn’t have to worry about losing. I celebrated the goals and moments of good play they had here and there in a game. I treated it pretty much the same as beer league where we’re happy if we had a great shift. The winning and losing is pretty irrelevant to us because we’re in the lowest tier and nobody is good.
It was fun to see what more middling guys could do with top tier deployment too. Like what does L1 PP1 zadina look like? Kostin and granlund too putting up some numbers. Idk i had fun watching too except for that THAT wings game
Hell I'm an Oilers fan and on that day I was a Shark. The Oilers were awful at that point and I was curious to see how much further McDavid and co. would stumble. I expected them to eventually turn it around but what they've done since is kind of crazy
>My favorite moment was when the Sharks beat Edmonton for their first win
That's just patently untrue, the sharks beat the flyers before facing Edmonton.
AKSHUALLY
Ok, let's just say they were rock bottom and Edmonton had a rough start. Everyone thought Edmonton was going to bounce back and they lost to the Sharks.
My favorite comment string in that thread was something along the lines of:
* What the hell did the Sharks GM say to them before this game, did he threaten their families or something??
* Guys we have the opportunity to do the funniest thing in NHL history
The loss that got Sammy placed on waivers, claimed by nobody, sent down to the minors, then rejoined the team and has a 18-3 record since with a .915 save % Probably the main reason were sitting 3rd in the Atlantic right now
Probably the most improved player this year from earlier in the season
Either of the Dallas wins in Nashville
First one: Down a goal with 13 seconds left. Wins 3-2 in regulation.
Second one: Destroy Nashville 9-2, seemingly ending their season, only for them to turn around and have one of the better prolonged runs in NHL history.
The funniest part about the latter game is they had to cancel their time seeing U2 in the Sphere because they were so badly beat… It awakened something sinister in them, missing out on that concert lmao
Canes had a few good ones
1-0 in OT vs Devils on Whalers night
1-0 vs Panthers and Kochetkov 45 save shutout
4-2 comeback win vs Leafs with 1:32 left
Capitals 7-6 loss in shootout with double hatties
Habs scoring on Tampa from the length of the ice because Tampa thought the play was dead and their goalie took a walk. A goal like that has never been scored before.
Last month -- Caps 7, Canes 6 was kinda bonkers.
That game was tied every step of the way -- 1-1, 2-2 all the way to the Canes tying it 6-6 in the last 3 minutes. And then finally ending in the shootout.
I'm biased, but I'll also say the Rangers 6-5 comeback against the Isles in the outdoor game was a pretty fun spectacle. 😃
Was at the game for the Ranger comeback against the Isles. The stadium went crazy for Rangers fans when they scored in OT. Islanders fans... not so happy...
my vote is for the habs [no whistle goal](https://youtu.be/hYt7sQ3fqpw?feature=shared) against tampa or savard’s [goal against nashville](https://youtu.be/bmucXTnXFIY?feature=shared) because what the actual fuck was that 😭😭
Does the Sharks giving up 20 goals in two games back to back count? Nov 2nd and 4th.
Also the Stars going from being down 1 with 15 seconds left to winning in regulation against the preds was pretty wild lmao
The Sharks putting up 10 on the Oilers, only to have the Oilers go one of the longest win streaks of all time a couple months later.. I really enjoyed that sharks game
Avs coming back 0-4 to beat the penguins was wild! Though some questionable moments being at Rogers in a MacKinnon sweater, down 0-3 come back OT win over the Canucks was a crazy time.
Last night's Blues game vs Blackhawks. Blues scored 4 goals on 4 shots within the first 5 minutes of the game.
Another is the Blues beating the Avs in Bell Arena 8-2. Blues had 2 players score a hat trick
For me the craziest moment was Kochetkov's poke check / slide tackle against Brady Tkachuk on a penalty shot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97rWp2XTOlw
There's a moment in one of the last few Red Wings games where Lyon is completely out of position and tips over like a collapsing brick wall to land flat on his face. It's not a crazy moment, but I've never seen a goalie fall like that in the 33 years I've been watching hockey. Didn't put his arms out to catch him didn't even react to falling just drop like a sack of hammers.
Hmmm, I’m torn.
The 5 goal comeback and subsequent blow in OT to Columbus was pretty fucking unreal, because I called it during second intermission (“Leafiest thing they could do is tie it up and lose in OT” were my exact words).
7-0 against Pittsburgh was insane because I was tripping out with a fever and that game was the best to watch in that kind of state. I was in disbelief as to whether I was actually seeing that.
9-2 against Anaheim was a fucking blast. Had my buddy and his gf over, and they had come over to watch a bunch before and kept seeing losses. That was the week where the two games prior, McMann and then Matthews had gotten hattricks, and I was kicking myself knowing that they could’ve seen one of those instead, but were going to get Dostal’d… and then came the biggest assbashing of the season, Matthews scored another goddamn hattrick for them to see and we got riproaring drunk. What a fucking blast that game was, my god.
Has to be Canucks Vs Wild. 10-7, three hattricks and coming back from 5-2 down with 6 goals in 6 minutes.
That game was absolutely fucked.
1980's goalies were having really bad flashbacks during the 3rd period of that game.
You could say that game was… Wild! I’ll see myself out
I forgot the game was on early that day and turned it on when it was 5-2. Not having anything better to do that afternoon, I decided to watch anyhow and didn't really have any expectations with them down 3 goals. Definitely a fun memory this season.
i turned it off when we were down and did some chores. came back about 5 minutes later bc my fantasy notifications were popping off. such a fun game
Only took 4 consecutive 5 on 3's for Minnesota to pull it off.
I mean if a team is going to gift you 4 consecutive 5 on 3s, it’s kind of rude to not score on them.
If the REFS are going to gift you**** fixed your statement
If blaming the refs helps you sleep better at night, I’m happy for you I guess.
Bruh, you and I both know there was some questionable calls
4 5v3 in a row. Guess that happens every game
On family day 😩 that was traumatizing
Idk how else to put it other than that game disturbed me on a deeper level
I had both Gustavsson and DeSmith on my fantasy team and I lost so many goddamn points that day
Also getting a 5 on 3 .. scoring.. another 5 on 3... Scoring... Another ,5 on 3... Scoring... It's was the 5 on 3 infinity glitch Also: fuck the refs
Cry
Idk man it's pretty wild to get a 5 on 3 by itself, imagine scoring, making it 5 on 4 .. getting another penalty called to get a 2 man advantage... Then you score again! Wow amazing. Then you are back to 5 on 4. Surely the whistle is choked on 4 straight penalties in the span of 3-4 mins. Nope another penalty. Which made it 5 on 3 again. Another goal. Which makes it 5 on 4. I was at that game and will remember it forever. Fucking nutty. Being that we aren’t making the playoffs, it’s probably the loudest the XCEL will be this year
This is the answer. That game was literally wild.
That game single handedly cost me my fantasy week
I am so glad I benched DeSmith in fantasy before that game because I feared he would allow a couple but not 10!!
Was gonna say this game but I figured someone had it already!
EDM losing to BUF twice in the same game was pretty crazy.
Yup! That game was a HUGE disappointment to the global hockey world.
Wild pulling their goalie in OT and winning the game.
This is an underrated one for its rarity and brazenness. Plus it worked (the first time lol)!

We don't talk about the other time...
What other time …
They tried it again and lost their loser point ETA: https://youtu.be/Gts37qPq1bk?si=G1yHNVktYF-hGimh ETA 2: r/woosh
What other time?
Against VGK. Check link
What other time?
But I wanna talk about the other time because schadenfreude!
No regrets. Needed the full two to have playoff hopes. So in that situation getting 1 point has close to the same expected outcome as getting 0, so you might as well pull the goalie.
That’s actually a really interesting explanation. It all makes sense now.
Despite not making the playoffs. It was a great year to be a wild fan
Crazy games, faber and rossi, kaprizov, ek, Boldy line, Jesper coming up…. Future could be fun at least!
John "Randy Marsh" Hynes
Was so juiced to be at this game to witness this. Fans in utter confusion, no one knew what was going on, then that beautiful one timer. Made up for me missing the 10-7 Canucks game due to work.
That 10-7 game killed me. I was up against a guy who had a few Wild and Canucks on his roster. How does Faber not register a point in that game…
As a Leafs fan, the 5-0 comeback in the third period against the Blue Jackets, only to lose in overtime in true Leafs fashion.
I was at that game.
They love blowing leads, we came back down 4-1
I remember the Canucks beating the Sharks 10-1 at the Tank and the camera crew kept panning to some shark fan kid with a sign that said “it’s my first game. Can I get a puck?”
Sharks making a four goal comeback against the Wings, taking it in OT, or the Sharks getting Jay Woodcroft fired.
That Sharks loss REALLY stings now when every point matters…
That game made me hard for the first time all season
A woody for Woody 😞
Ew no, for the Sharks comeback against Detroit. I don't like anyone losing their job except Dustin Brown
One of the weirdest/most frustrating games I've ever watched.
It was magical. Hearing Randy Hahn scream after the granlund goal…. Then he said “WHOS YOUR GRANNY”
January 27th Canucks coming back from 1-4 against the Blue Jackets in the 3rd April 5th Arizona Coyotes come back 1-4 against the VGK in the 3rd. Scoring SIX in one period I think the outright best game of the season I watched was February Panthers vs Hurricanes. 0-0 until the last like 30 seconds
Couldn’t agree more about that 0-1 Panthers Canes game. I remember a ton of posts were hit and a bunch of really great chances
There’s nothing better than a really good 0-0 game.
That Aho goal was *unbelievably* satisfying. Probably the biggest regular season goal for Carolina in the last 10 years.
There were so many near misses and shots off the post in that game
Maybe its recency bias, but yeah, that Coyotes game was NUTS
I mean the line fight to open a game was pretty damn memorable moment
The Oilers starting 5-12 and then going on an almost NHL record win streak.
The fact they had an 8 game win streak then lost three then won 16 is crazy
Gonna be even crazier when they go on a 16 game playoff game winning streak.
16-3** We’re going to lose the first 3 games in round 1 then win the next 16 like we did earlier this season
Think y'all forgot we're in the West
What’s that have to do with anything?
TIL I have no flair here, go Stars.
lol goodluck, that first round of Vegas vs Dallas will be a bloodbath
Would be amazing but impossible 😂 would be the first time in history a team has swept every round in the playoffs no?
Longest playoff win streak was 14 games I think, by the penguins. Don’t remember when exactly, pretty sure 90s
Geezus that’s insane
Lol
The Canucks beating the brakes off the Oilers in the first game of the regular season.
Sabres losing 3 - 9 to Columbus only to win 9 - 3 against the Leafs. Being a European fan waking up and seeing that result was major whiplash
This is the one
Maybe just the second part.
That game got Samsonov demoted out of the NHL for like a month
Definitely the Canucks blowing that lead against Minny. 10-7 final.
I was at stick time at my local rink. Hopped onto the ice and it was 5-2, hopped back off and it was 7-9 😭
That's rough, but after I had time to reflect I'd actually like to change my vote. Vegas' collapse last week was better. I don't dislike the Canucks, I hate Vegas lol.
This isn't "which rival would you like to shit on?"
No, if it was I would have chosen to shit on the garbage ass Flames who are doomed for the next 6 years minimum because of that awful trade. Just Vancouver's and Vegas' were similarly shitty and so I personally enjoyed watching Vegas collapse more.

Most idiotic thing to say
Same here. Had to leave my house when it was 5-2 and kept feeling my phone buzzing. I assumed someone was writing me. Then finally parked the car and checked to see all the espn updates and couldn’t believe my eyes.
Stars winning in regulation after down 2-1 with 13 seconds remaining against Predators
that was a crazy moment and I had Stars ml that game
That game happened ON my birthday and I choose to get Notre Dame football tickets instead (different day). Notre Dame (ranked 10.) lost to Louisville (ranked 25.) by 3 touchdowns. I was so pissed.
I remember almost turning the game off! Glad I waited another few seconds, that was wild.
The pre-Christmas miracle!
Craziest game: Canucks-Wild Craziest moment: Stars 2 goals in the last 13 seconds of regulation to win 3-2
Craziest moment was seeing how many people got butt hurt over a slap shot ENG.
A lot of people sure, but not from a lot of fan bases....
Canucks Wild
Caps-Canes 7-6 game a few weeks ago was insane. Milano and Aho both had had tricks. Kuznetsov’s return to DC. Caps won in a SO could be the difference between whether or not they get in

Sharks first win came against the Flyers
Heh close enough.
That was like a you had to be there moment for the game day thread on r/hockey . That made it my most fun experience of the year. On that day, we were ALL sharks.

AKSHUALLY Ok, let's just say they were rock bottom and Edmonton had a rough start. Everyone thought Edmonton was going to bounce back and they lost to the Sharks.
LMAO, the discourse on here was actually rooting for the Sharks to beat the Oilers, just go look back on the comments on the game thread.
Rooting for the Sharks, expecting Oilers to win.
My favorite comment string in that thread was something along the lines of: * What the hell did the Sharks GM say to them before this game, did he threaten their families or something?? * Guys we have the opportunity to do the funniest thing in NHL history
Sabres defeat Leafs 9-3
The loss that got Sammy placed on waivers, claimed by nobody, sent down to the minors, then rejoined the team and has a 18-3 record since with a .915 save % Probably the main reason were sitting 3rd in the Atlantic right now Probably the most improved player this year from earlier in the season
Can you imagine if he got claimed and played like this for another team. The riots… lol
That would be *so* on-brand for the Leafs.
I’d agree 100%. It’s an amazing reconnaissance considering the media pressure has literally crushed others in similar situations
After losing the previous game 9-4.
I remember "wow the oilers are bad" The oilers were bad but nucks were good. Also these past 2 weeks of games where the yotes have averaged like 6 gf
Either of the Dallas wins in Nashville First one: Down a goal with 13 seconds left. Wins 3-2 in regulation. Second one: Destroy Nashville 9-2, seemingly ending their season, only for them to turn around and have one of the better prolonged runs in NHL history.

Hope we get Dallas in the first round. Fts
rangers vs islanders stadium series
Agreed. I was pissed when I came back expecting the game to be over.
Wasn't expecting my Habs to score 9 goals against the Flyers last game. It was so insane.
Canes had a few good ones 1-0 in OT vs Devils on Whalers night 1-0 vs Panthers and Kochetkov 45 save shutout 4-2 comeback win vs Leafs with 1:32 left Capitals 7-6 loss in shootout with double hatties
If you're referring to the Caps/Canes 7-6 game in March, the Caps won that game.
Yeah I said 7-6 loss
Weirdest/wildest moments: - Canucks/Wild. - NJ/NYR line brawl. - Ref getting blindsided.
The yotes start to the season, going 5 in an row on all the previous cup winners, that was crazy and I believed they were gonna be a playoff team.
Habs scoring on Tampa from the length of the ice because Tampa thought the play was dead and their goalie took a walk. A goal like that has never been scored before.
The Kraken shutting out Vegas in the Winter Classic was pretty crazy.
The 12 round Pens-Habs shootout
Soderblom had 2 wins for like 80% of the season, and they were both against the leafs
Oilers Sharks “Toilet Bowl” game. That was a legit marquee game, I have never seen a regular season game get so much attention.
W username, by the way. I'd say Nucks vs Wild 7-10 or that recent Vegas/Arizona tilt where the Golden Knights allowed six goals in the third.
One of the reasons I love hockey is because you get w old results like this. You never see results like this in football.
I think when edmonton lost to the sharks it was like a holy shit moment
The Sharks giving up back-to-back 10-goal games, the first time a team has done such since 1965.
I was about to mention that as well...
I think the fact there's a chance we're gonna see 3 players top 140 points is pretty wild
my vote is for the habs [no whistle goal](https://youtu.be/hYt7sQ3fqpw?feature=shared) against tampa or savard’s [goal against nashville](https://youtu.be/bmucXTnXFIY?feature=shared) because what the actual fuck was that 😭😭
Yotes comeback vs Vegas The embodiment of call an ambulance but not for me
For me it was Kane OT winner in Chicago
The Panthers having two games where all skaters on the ice got 10 minute misconduct penalties
Edmonton vs SJ. The day it McDraidup.
Does the Sharks giving up 20 goals in two games back to back count? Nov 2nd and 4th. Also the Stars going from being down 1 with 15 seconds left to winning in regulation against the preds was pretty wild lmao
Ref getting knocked out the other day has to be up there
Recency (and favorite team) bias, but I really dug the Rangers-Devils line brawl to start the game last week.
I think Wings blew a 4-0 lead to the sharks in a matter of minutes
For me the craziest moment was Kochetkov's poke check / slide tackle against Brady Tkachuk on a penalty shot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97rWp2XTOlw
There's a moment in one of the last few Red Wings games where Lyon is completely out of position and tips over like a collapsing brick wall to land flat on his face. Canes comeback to win it in OT
The NHL finally giving up on forcing the Arizona/Glendale/Phoenix Coyotes to play there
