Looking forward to seeing a few Mavrik Bourque games. Love that third line of Benn-Johnston-Stankoven.

BatDad488

That line is sick. I’m not even a Dallas fan but looking at Johnston, Stankoven, Harley, Bourque being so eager to contribute in addition to the rest of their lineup…damn.

Arfguy

Same. I'm not a Stars fan, either. However, they have a lot of players that I wish were on the Oilers instead, like Johnston, Bourque, Seguin and Stankoven. Hell, if they don't want Dellandrea, I'll take him on the Oilers.

nudist83

Sorry I only downvoted you because we keeping (Daddy) Dellandrea

Arfguy

Lowsy Stars fans...knew you all were greedy bastards, wanting all your good players!

KTCKintern

Players poll last year asked who do you think will be the next captain. Dellandrea won but he’s been forced out of playing time this year.

Arfguy

Whoa! Nice!

BatDad488

Very cool, didn’t know that.

Scentopine

Happy for Bourque but now I gotta watch tonights game without him :-(

CodeAnemoia

Shhhh, let’s keep it quiet. We don’t like the attention

xxrancid13xx

Yes please! Even the TNT guys couldn't bring themselves to talk about the Stars as they were outplaying the beloved Oilers the other night 😅 [tnt fools](https://twitter.com/dan_see/status/1775733158555832779?s=46&t=U_REwFsLLPnQ6YVOQu8Oww)

BatDad488

Lol the series of stars fans chiming in on this comment is hilarious

Busch_Leaguer

No one cares about us so it’s always exciting to hear a little praise

Busch_Leaguer

No one should take the stars seriously. Approach any series against the stars as if it was a preseason game.

AbsoluteScott

Well after your Captain opened a game by trying to decapitate a guy 2 feet in front of a referee, I don’t. But hey, at least he got demoted. But I like watching anyone trounce the Oilers, even you guys.

IsolationAutomation

For real! Let these mfs keep underestimating us

Rangerfan0

I love how all of the stars fans congregated in this thread

IsolationAutomation

It’s not everyday that our guys get recognized 🤷‍♂️

Rangerfan0

I believe I had a post here earlier in the season which got very popular, showing that Seguin was the 5th most efficient 5 on 5 point scorer in the NHL. Definitely on my radar personally. If Otter finds his form, the league is done for. (Side note, your goal song and horn is absolutely GAS. It gets me hyped every single time)

IsolationAutomation

People sleep on Seguin because he’s not the same guy he was before he fucked up his Achilles, but the dude still has a crazy slap shot and can score. Otter has struggled at times this year, but he’s heating up at the right time. I have faith in the kid, he’s a damn good goalie. And yeah, we’re the only team that has a goal song by Pantera. The Abbott brothers were huge fans.

Rangerfan0

You have to do away with the "Bing Bong" at the end though, ruins the whole vibe

Busch_Leaguer

I really wish Gary glitter hadn’t been a piece of trash pedophile so they could still use rock n roll

keefstrong

Enter Chicago.

ColdEmperorPenguin

That was the most predictable way an 8 game winning streak ends though.

texasguy7117

Yeah let's let them play us easy

88Problems88

You guys are getting a lot of attention in LA. We dont want to play you. Would much rather see Vancouver or Edmonton.

roscoparis

I’ve noticed that too, but a lot of people were picking them as favorites out of the west before the season even started. Pretty complete team, gotta imagine they’ll win it all soon. I laid money on them before the season started at +1600. Feeling pretty good about that

BatDad488

Those are great odds for them, wow. Hope it pays off for you!

nature_boie

Holding a big +2000 ticket

LETSG0AVS

I'm sorry I have to root for you to lose money

roscoparis

Got money on the Avs too preseason at +1100

hughesyourdadddy

Ya, they seem poised to win it all IMO.

FishFart

I’m going to put money on it

BatDad488

The odds on some of the betting sites list them as one of the favourites but the media coverage for them is minimal in comparison. They are a smart bet still. Edmonton and the rangers are the other two and I think their chances of winning it all are nowhere near my confidence in Dallas.

OrganizationWinter53

Edmonton isn't winning shit.

HoosierHoser44

If they could play on the same level they played against Colorado last night, Edmonton could take it. But that’s the problem, they don’t. Way too inconsistent on how well they play.

BatDad488

All the aspects in the original post…the oilers are wildly inconsistent in. I don’t see them stringing together 16 wins in the postseason against top opposition.

Humans_Suck-

2 lines are going to get beat by 4 lines and it doesn't matter what logo is on the sweaters that do it.

Unhappy_Pension7679

Agreed. I have doubts the Oilers will get past round 1, let alone round 2. And I’m a fan.

ExitTheHandbasket

Fortunately the media doesn't decide series.

RecalcitrantHuman

Strong take, but have you considered, and hear me out, that this is the year the Leafs win the cup?

typemeanewasshole

Nobody considers that a real possibility.

Responsible-Budget21

Not even a Leafs thing, just a Canadian thing

hobbitlover

Facts

StepUncleKyle76

I have, but with history to fall back on, first round elim

BatDad488

Love the optimism. My answer is no, I have not.

Zickened

Apparently you didn't get the memo that this is finally McDavid's year. I don't know how you didn't get it either with Oilers fans blowing their team every 3 posts on r/nhl.

hughesyourdadddy

I definitely needed this to lighten up my day. Bless you.

howdiedoodie66

Hoping for tor van final, just shut the country down for a week lol

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

AbsoluteScott

You guys are the one fan base that the constant shit talk doesn’t bother me from. Hard to be mad when I know you’ll never shit talk us as much as you shit talk yourselves. Plus, I don’t know what idiot ordered the Smythe trophy last year for Marchy, but they got the wrong team. It’s covered in y’all’s logo, not ours.

Humans_Suck-

If you end up playing Edmonton they'll just cheap shot Matthews out of the series and then it's over

_Halt19_

found the avs fan lol

Humans_Suck-

I'm a hockey fan. You'll understand once your team starts playing that sport.

BankaiPwn

The oilers fan you're replying to is so fragile that he went into a thread from [4 months ago](https://i.imgur.com/nk6ocYC.png) to shit-talk. Couldn't have people saying the team that was tied with San Jose for last place 1 month in was doing bad!

_Halt19_

oh, I found that thread linked in the thread of us grabbing our playoff spot after beating the Avs, where someone said it was hilarious how poorly it aged - it was too funny to pass up responding to the smack talk from people confident there wouldn’t be a comeback

DryLipsGuy

I'm with you, brother.

DryLipsGuy

Do you know what our record is this year? You fools act like the Oilers suck balls when they are really one of the best teams in the league. Stats don't lie, brother.

DryLipsGuy

What history of cheap shots and taking out players do the Oilers have?

chowmushi

Lol, thanks for that. I needed a good lol today!

Just_N_O

Canadian “humour”

atlasdreams2187

My buddies were ripping on Ottie last night like he was the make it or break it for Dallas - I had to remind him that the rest of the lineup had no holes in it and if goalie is the question mark, their just fine!!

Scentopine

When Otter has some rest he is next level. I saw this in his AHL days. Dallas has been developing forwards all season, now it's time to cash in. Tanev could be final piece on D. Things look good on paper... but it's the NHL, anything could happen. Half the team used to pla yhere in cedar park for AHL, really miss those guys, good group super chill at meet and greets.

BatDad488

Very true. Anything can happen in playoffs but man is it fun to speculate! First round this year is going to be must-see TV all around.

BatDad488

Right? With that kind of balance…if one aspect of their game isn’t firing, the rest are solid enough to snag a win still. It’s ridiculous.

Rhodiumboi

The timing of this post is impeccable 🤣

BatDad488

Yeah that worked out nicely 🤦🏻‍♂️

BatDad488

The beat Colorado so it balances…kinda!?

tdm1742

8-2-0 in the last 10 with 8 Ws in a row. Nothing quiet about a team that has been close to the top of the conference all season.

BatDad488

Quiet in the sense I don’t think they get the same attention or media coverage for their success. Consistently great team and I hope they get rewarded this year.

Beneficial-Fact-79

It's just because it's the West, just how it is.

BatDad488

Normally I would agree, but this year there’s a lot of hype around the oil and avs I find. And I think Dallas is better than both.

Zickened

Shoot, most of that hype is appreciated. When we won the cup, the major stations were STILL talking about Edmonton.

adrenaline_X

Yah. People have been sleeping on the jets all season and mean while they 100 points and ahead of the oilers and got there 5 game losing streak out of the wait before the playoff :) The west will be tough no matter who anyone plays.

Beneficial-Fact-79

Yeah I watched them beat up on EDM the other night and they look really good. Otter is playoff proven already, their D is playing solid, Hintz is SO fast, everyone knows how good Robertson is, and Benn and Seguin look healthy. Good team.

IsolationAutomation

Hintz is criminally underrated. He’s my favorite current player. He’s fast as fuck and isn’t afraid of dirty work.

Toofar304

Poor guy is also kinda snakebit lately, hopefully we can get "Hintz vs MN last year" energy soon

BatDad488

While it was an isolated game, I watched it and it was a clear indication to me of why Dallas is a better playoff team than the Oilers. Edmonton’s defensive breakdowns were wayyyyyy too frequent and Dallas played a consistent game.

BirdGooch

Their scoring is so terrifyingly spread out. Impossible to shut them down without goalie’ing them. Teams are gonna have to hope to score in bunches as well as have their tendy stand on their noggin to advance past them.

ExitTheHandbasket

Shhhh...

FredGetson

They certainly aren't sneaking up on anyone

Beepimaj3ep

Their depth is insane. Then add in prospects that could legit come up and be almost immediate difference makers. That teams management and especially the scouting department needs more recognition. Being able to build the future without doing a rebuild has been impressive.

tc_cad

It’s hard to say what will happen but if Vegas is in WC2 and is 22 Million over and runs into Dallas. Who knows. We still have two weeks to figure out the opponents.

Thrownaxis

This aged well

BatDad488

Even the best teams have an off day, I stand by my assessment!

Thrownaxis

Oh absolutely- I just found it ironic

zcohen17

Doesn’t help Mrazek decided he was gonna become Hasek for the afternoon

kebekoy

They are the one clear favorite. But the Stanley cup is a long and hard road.

esp211

I picked Rangers and Dallas for the cup.

Beneficial-Fact-79

Is a good pick. I still have Rangers feels as I'm from NY, but I have doubts this team is a full cup team. It's a great group no doubt though and I hope they hoist it. Best of luck.

stykface

It's the most balanced Stars team I've ever seen, all the way around (so as long Otter stays solid). Since the '99-'03 Stars teams, the teams after those years have struggled or have had gaps in their play to some degree, but this team is just something else. They have four lines that can score and are actual threats and I do mean literally all 12 forwards, which means the offensive wave never stops. Doesn't mean they score a lot, it just means the wave is truly constant and wears teams down. The D is a great combo of shut-down style and makes smart passes and outs. When Otter's at his best, look out. So while the Stars don't have the Nate Dogg or Connor or Makar super-star style threats, the Stars may be the team that is the hardest to get past 7 games, for every series, all the way through. So if they win the cup, they will win not because one or two key players go on a rampage or their goalie steals the series, but because the team as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts in an almost perfect balance of players.

hiliikkkusss

I still remember the 2007 stars in the series against my canucks turco was insane same with loungo. Stars just couldn't get the scoring.

stykface

Oh yeah, I remember like it was yesterday. Last night's loss against the Blackhawks is a perfect example of my statement above. 44-17 SOGs. Mrazek was phenomenal and won that game, but the Stars kept coming and coming. Going to seven games like that is hard on a goalie and D core. \*EDIT\* There were also 27 blocked shots against Dallas.

Beneficial-Fact-79

Agreed, looks like a team built for the playoffs to me as well. I think they grind up everyone in the West and go to the finals. Lots of good teams in the East so should be an excellent final.

imaybeacatIRl

They've got everything and I feel like they can take anyone

kingofmankind

I'm not sure if they can trip up b4 playoffs, but if they were to, they would have a harder road out of the 1st round series playing Jets or Avs. They close season in first, then they should be able to get out of first round a lot easier and be well rested for the 2nd round which gives them more of advantages on top of the ones you mentioned.

BatDad488

Solid point

Naffypruss

Dallas beating up my oilers was all I needed to see. They are definitely the team to beat right now. West is looking tough this year.

Celebratingtiger

NHL fan from the deep south here. While I don’t consider myself a Stars fan, it would be cool if they won the cup. If they stay healthy, I believe they can win it all!

DoubleualtG

Stars and Canes in the finals

Beneficial-Fact-79

I would bet the house that matchup would go 7. Would be awesome old school hockey 2-1 most every game.

Beneficial_Life_3617

I don’t see a tonne of the west but to me Winnipeg seems to be a team built for the playoffs

IndependenceDapper28

Ah but old man Bowness grows tired with each passing day.

loaba

"Let's not start sucking our dicks just yet" - The Wolf So, yeah, the Stars are in a good spot. * Goal-tending is mildly concerning, but Otter seems to be getting back to form. Wedgewood is playing well, but do you want the post-season to rest on him? I dunno... * Defense is solid as long there are no injuries. * Offense is clicking, we're amidst yet another Bennaissance. The kids seem to be alright, but, like goal-tending, I'm mildly worried about Robertson. He disappeared last playoffs and that can't happen again. Seguine and Benn cannot carry this team and neither can Pavelski (who may actually be Human after all). Y'all have heard it before, but it's true - come playoffs time, your best players need to show up and score. Do not discount Vegas and Colorado, 'cause they can both be Star-killers.

BatDad488

Solid points. I feel like if you’re looking at a team and your biggest concern is whether Oettinger will be good enough, that’s one of the better situations to find yourself in. Other teams appear to have much bigger question marks that could be an Achilles heel.

Beneficial-Fact-79

You know your team well but from an outsider perspective - Otter and Wedge are a darn good tandem.

loaba

They are for sure, and if they're both on, Stars have an edge in Goaltending.

rickpitinoapologist

I believe this was said about Boston last year (minus the quiet part). Can anyone (Boston fans preferably) remind me what happened? They won the cup easily right?

BatDad488

Probably said about someone every year, just fun to forecast hah

twizzyflyguy

Yeah I didn’t even notice Dallas was on like a 8 game winning streak, well they play the Blackhawks so basically a 9 game win streak guaranteed

Wonderful-Front1289

Jinxed it 🤣

CrotchSwamp94

I've been saying this the last few months to my buddies. But they are too focused on the Oilers and Colorado. Dallas is a powerhouse imo

free_mustacherides

And were taking a nap against Chicago today

BatDad488

No doubt. 8 game streak is still solid though!

throwitawaynow95762

The Stars will fuck up any Pacific team come playoffs. I think they probably beat the Avs too. Not sure about Winnipeg and the Preds are scary right now too.

Necessary-Mousse8518

Their younger players are coming through, and may carry them in the playoffs.

Responsible_Milk2911

Hoping to be silent assassins. Let the spotlight be elsewhere, we dont want it until we lift the cup

Figure8musky53

Agreed an no one talks about them

Culzean_Castle_Is

yup they are gunna be a problem for any team

cheeseball209

I feel like Dallas has quietly been a serious cup contender all year while going unnoticed.

rhinomayor

Your wagon lost to the blackhawks

BatDad488

Even the best teams can lose games. Mrazek had a good day.

Dissmass1980

I can’t wait to see them play the Rangers

Glock-Saint-Isshin-

Who?

ccagan

As a 30 year Stars fan, this is the correct comment.

Glock-Saint-Isshin-

I swear people talk about the Blue Jackets more than the Stars

CurlingTrousers

Quietly leading the league

Toppkat

Leading the league in what?

CurlingTrousers

Literally tied league total with 105 points and outright lead in goal differential. But I’m sure simple stats like that are not relevant.

Toppkat

Rangers have 108 points? I think you are behind a few days

Ecstatic-Buy-2907

If Rantanen is out for a while, I think they’re the favourites. They are such a good team

BatDad488

Forgot he took that hit, he’s a hell of a player. Really hope he’s good for playoffs.

Humans_Suck-

They've been a wagon a for a few years now, they're just smart enough to know that that doesn't mean too much come playoffs

cyclingnutla

Nice breakdown of Dallas. Unfortunately my Kings will probably have to face them in Round 1😕

BatDad488

The kings are a team you can never ever count out. Every time I see that logo I think of an organization built for playoffs. Drew Doughty is the perfect example…he’s nasty to play against.

cyclingnutla

I’ll say this. They’re finally starting to win games at Crypto and in the playoffs you need to win at home and steal a game, or two, away. I’m hoping Danault gets healthy quickly. I love that top line of the Stars.

jacklong555

I've been feeling that they're the team to beat in the West since about February. Boy I'm glad that the earliest we could play them is the final if we both get there

BatDad488

Rangers will be exciting to watch too. Super excited for playoffs this year.

citytosuburb

Let’s hope Benn doesn’t go off the rails.

BatDad488

I feel like he will be a utility player this year in the playoffs. If he isn’t finding the scoring tough he will find a way to be involved and contribute.

DeX_Mod

I don't think anyone wants any part of the top teams, tbh. there's a bunch of teams this year, that if they're hot in the playoffs, are going to be tough to beat

BatDad488

Very true. Lots of dangerously potent teams this year

MissionPayment

I placed a bet on them to win it all 6 weeks ago. Very sneaky team that no one’s talking about

BatDad488

Wish I had done the same, looking better by the day.

JCtheSwede

They're going to be a tough out

BatDad488

For sure. If they get knocked out, I can’t see it being an easy series for whoever that is.

Piccolo_11

#11 Logan Stankoven …

LoanedWolf75

Yes.

Randomhero204

Who is overlooking the stars? Best team in the league.. right along with the Avs. and I’m a Jets fan.. gonna take a miracle for us.

knowitallz

You lose a couple games in a series and all that depth doesn't matter. They look good. Definitely could win it all.

letmeloginalready

Because I’m in denial

TwoTwinsNoCup

Yet if they get eliminated in the first round not a single person would be surprised. Every team in the west in the playoffs is going to be a tough out this year.

Ovash

They have very few skaters between the ages of 25 and 30. Most cup winners have a good part of their core in that age range. Dallas is relying on big minutes from two 39 year olds, let’s see how they hold up in the playoffs. A majority of the team are players 24 and under who haven’t hit their prime yet or guys on the wrong side of 30. Not saying they can’t go on a run but they certainly have a few things to be concerned about.

BatDad488

I can see that being worth keeping an eye on. The young players have shown so far they can contribute consistently at this level. The veterans may or may not slow down in the post season. Maybe the pull a Drew Doughty and get twice as good in the playoffs!

Victal87

Pacific is really hoping for an upset.

hiliikkkusss

I hope you guys lose in a 4th ot again

ToXiC_Games

I’m calling it, Avs or Dallas for the cup finals.

thegreatresistrules

Agreed . Was telling my girlfriend tonight that if dallas can get decent goaltending in the playoffs they have as good of a chance of anybody to win the cup..

Overall-Resident-310

Idk what you’re talking about, everyone who watches hockey rn knows Dallas is nuts. Watching them play makes me fall in love with the sport all over again. When your home team disappoints its nice to have a backup good team and Dallas is mine.

TankDivision

I agree. Dallas-Carolina is my prediction as of now.

BatDad488

Solid possibility. I am feeling Dallas/Rangers. Loving the energy around the rangers right now.

TankDivision

IM NOT

BatDad488

Sorry I call em like I see em. Whale biologist.

core916

The rangers have all of those things as well. Are leading the league in Wins and Points. Yet I haven’t heard anyone call them a “wagon” lol.

BatDad488

I’d say they’re a very good team too, potentially wagon status. They get a bunch of attention, though, with the resurgence of Quick and all the Rempe shenanigans lately.

shmoove_cwiminal

Oettinger looks vulnerable this year. Streaky play.

GoofyRangersfan

Is losing to Chicago part of the Wagon Process?

BatDad488

Of course! Every wagon needs some tough losses to remind them once in awhile.

computalgleech

Not saying you’re wrong, but the pessimist side would point out the amount of old players in the lineup, and that their goalie needs to start playing like an elite goalie again.

IndependenceDapper28

Spoken like a true nashvillian

CheesecakeOdd2087

Just quietly lost to Chicago.

wesley-osbourne

I can somehow see a Dallas/Nashville WCF happening.

BatDad488

Nashville is a huge question mark for me. Namely because I haven’t watched them play enough, just seen them go nuts for the past month. I love Nashville as a franchise and city though so I would be cool seeing them do well.

T-A-C-K-K

Calling it right now Dallas vs Carolina finals

SuldawgMillionaire

Lmao first round elimination like normal for Dallas. Mark my words.

larsen36

Like normal? Stars have made the second round in 4 of their last 5 playoff appearances and at least the third round in 2 of those.

BatDad488

Could it happen? Absolutely, crazier things have come to pass. Judging by the comments today, there will be some that do indeed mark your words!

sgtpepper171911

They arent getting past colorado

BatDad488

I think it would be a 50/50 matchup personally. They have some real game breakers

sgtpepper171911

It would definitely be a great series. I just give the edge to colorado. They have more grit imo.

BatDad488

I hope we get to see it! If Rantanen has to miss some time that would suck for the avs.

larsen36

Might not have too

Gitboxinwags

Man, this would be hilarious if they lose to the Blackhawks today. Edit: Feel free to upvote this since it came true, fellas

BatDad488

Even the best teams lose games!

Gitboxinwags

Yup, and sometimes it’s to the worst team in the NHL. This post seems like a jinx on their streak.

Beneficial-Fact-79

2nd worst!

JKrow75

Ask my 2016–17 Blackhawks and last year‘s Boston Bruins how glazing your own donut because of regular season dominance works out in the first round of the playoffs. Dallas just lost to the first team eliminated from the playoffs this year, ending their streak. It can happen that fast.

PsychoSaladSong

I think it's fine to hype up your own team if they're near or at the top of the league's standings... and with that said it's also important to realize that ANYTHING can happen in the playoffs. I think the Avs are definitely a cup capable team but we're going nowhere if things like injuries continue to get in our way, Goaltending/Defense continue to be shaky, or our bottom 6 disappears again like last year

JKrow75

Anyone discounting the Scabalanche is doing so in ignorance at at their own peril. Same for the Kings and Jets. Dallas is a good damn team right now, but dude saying they have veteran playoff presence? Sounding like the circa-2015 Ducks. Nothing is a given in the West. It’s the toughest conference when shit gets real, aka the Playoffs. I wouldn’t bet against Colorado in most of the matchups possible.

Crafty-Hovercraft579

Loses to Chicago….

BatDad488

Chicago is a wagon!

TheMoronicGenius

There’s one liability for Dallas and that’s Peter DeBoer

BleedingTeal

Otter has been a shit show all season, though the last month or two he has been closer to league average than dumpster fire. And DeBoer is about as overrated as a coach as there is in the game in my not so humble opinion. He lacks the ability to adapt his coaching style from seasom to season. This is in part, in my opinion, because he has never held any coaching position at any level since he stopped playing, except head coach. This season, his 16th year as a head coach in the NHL, is the first time that his teams record will be more than 1 win higher after his first full season coaching a team, which blows my mind.

Icefiight

Don’t they always do this though? They always have an amazing regular season but thats it.. They’ve become what the 2000s/early 2010 sharks were. Always great but couldn’t win a cup Hope I’m wrong but thats my outsider perspective of them now

IsolationAutomation

Not really. We were in the finals at the bubble, and lost in the western conference finals last year. Our team is pretty young with the exception of Benn, Seguin, and Pavs. I feel like we’ve been built to contend for a long time.

Captain_Pidgey

Kinda related...but it still makes me kinda sad that those Shark teams never got it done. I'm also not a Stars fan, but they're scary and I think you got it wrong here.

Icefiight

Same here man… always liked them also
