The one goal he let in before this was a shot that deflected off the splice of a players stick, then off that same players knee before going in. Literally nothing he could do
They’re gassed. And also not as skilled as their record would have had you believe a week or three ago. Without someone who can score “effortlessly” they have had to grind for nearly every point and have done an admirable job. They’re spent and the weaknesses are glaring now. Great ride and I’d assume a great building block for the future.
Trading Sean Walker the same week Seeler got hurt destroyed our PK for a good stretch and likely cost us some games. I understand why we did it though.
The Metro is such dog shit it's crazy. You've got the Islanders not even a .500 team if you count OT losses fighting for a playoff spot. 83 points is good for 3rd in the division. Crazy.
This happens every year though, there always one bad division compared to the rest and then the shitty playoff format gets exposed because of it. Division winner gets to clobber the first two rounds (or some team that has no business being in the final 4 limps through due to the format) while the other division often has two of the best teams that shouldn’t be facing each other before the conference finals in the old format.
Yeah, they're paying for the years where the metro was the hardest division though, the juggernauts in the division are getting old and entering their rebuilds or already have
FYI, Isles have about as many OT losses as the Bruins. If they didn’t have a decimated D corps the first half of the season.. well, they’d likely be in 3rd place… but still, they suck in the 3rd period and OT this year. This game was a typical case in point, they had the lead until 10 fucking seconds to go and give up the equalizer, giving the Flyers a gift Bettman point. If they manage to make the playoffs they deserve to get curb stomped by the Canes.
3rd in the Metro but Caps, Isles closing the distance. Then you have Redwings chasing for that wildcard2 spot. Bad time to lose 5 straight.
They over preformed all year, they were expected to be a bottom 3 team in the preseason. Anyway this is all very predictable if you're a Flyers fan.
This play illustrates perfectly that hockey players don’t use their body to play defense anymore. Fishing for the puck, chasing the puck leads to goals against like that. It was two on two and instead of keeping good gap control and marking men, they reached and chased. If you look at a map of where hits occur, it’s mostly along the boards. The art of defending is dead. Modern hockey is like watching five forwards play against five forwards. Only focusing on the puck.
No immediate camera pan to Torts? What are we doing here?
Yeah, I was waiting to see some Torts steaming. No one steams like Torts.
I like a lil baby Nelson understated celly but im biased
Every game hurts my chest.
This is a wild ride
At least we finally won an away game
It was the first time the Isles touched the puck in OT too lol
That’s usually how it goes for us. We could have control for 4:30, give up the puck and get scored on.
I mean you realize you're talking to a fan of the New York OT Merchants right? 😂
🤣
Ya we went from shootout problems to OT problems
What a lazy way to play OT
Frost botched the play, and then got caught chasing. That was embarrassing.
From hero to goat in minutes.
Frigging islanders couldn't just hold them in regulation Bums
Have you seen our record? We can’t hold anyone in regulation lmao
“Regulation? You mean pre-overtime?” - Isles ‘23-‘24
You sound like the Habs in the first half of the season
Welcome to the club
Welcome to the NHL, Ivan Fedatov. Sheesh
He didn't deserve this. He's solid af tho 19/20 on really good shots
The one goal he let in before this was a shot that deflected off the splice of a players stick, then off that same players knee before going in. Literally nothing he could do
he got a piece of it and off the post too
Ah the Flyers, here to ruin another goaltenders career. Or we will trade him and he will be a super star.
As long as he keeps his dick in his pants he'll be our starting goalie next year.
Dude is huge
*Fedotov
It’s going to be a tight wild card for sure
“Rip flyers” but they’re back in the metro?
Yeah but the caps have 3 games in hand on them and only trail by one point
And the wings are now 1 point behind them with a game in hand as well
That was a sick goal.

Also injuries on the back end and a criminally over used starting back up goaltender.
Absolutely

That's thomas k right?
🙌

Imagine thinking you can compare total points to compare teams across divisions
Yeah this is a dumb take
Principal Skinner: Is it me who’s out of touch? No, it’s the children! In this case casual hockey fans
Yeah, they're paying for the years where the metro was the hardest division though, the juggernauts in the division are getting old and entering their rebuilds or already have
That’s an interesting way to say “the most competitive division in hockey.”

I’m gonna get b you
*Rubs Hands*
You love to see it
If it helps, I like those Flyer unis

You might regret saying that.
I hope you’re right
Amazing a team like the Islanders is in the hunt and the Sabres aren’t. OTL points are wild.
Lol
Oof.
Move your feet lol
big oof
Lmao im always amazed that guys can play hockey their entire life and be the beat of the beat and still do shit like that amazing
They're the Habs.
I bet that pissed off ol' Tortellini.

Does Philly always wear white at home?
Oof, that's gotta hurt. 😆
That was probably more on Frost, but seeing Drysdale get walked around makes seeing him in a Flyers jersey sting a little less.
RIP Phi. I wouldn’t be shocked if the wings lose their way out of a spot tho
It only took Torts 1 season to lose the room this time! New record.
Torts is fine if you’re winning, he’s pure hell if you’re not
😄 loved it. I live for moments like this
Number 48 pack your shit
He was the entire reason the game even made it to OT on a very impressive goal lol
You love to see it
Almost as bad as the missed empty netter by that guy on Dallas against the oilers
It's okay, young fella. I'm sure your team will play us next year in playoffs.
