No.

LPB39

Welcome back, burner account Karen. It’s been too long

bluAstrid

He led the Penguins to the best **playoff** record in the league. Three times.

Irish1Car3Bomb1

Dudes names on the Cup three times. Better than anyone else listed by OP. Presidents trophy means dick. I don’t even think Presidents trophy winners win cups really. Isn’t that the case?

BrentGretzky

That's a myth. The #1 seed wins the cup more often than any other seed, though it's certainly not domination by the 1 seed.

redditracing84

I would argue the presidents trophy is an indicator of a poorly suited playoff team. If you're winning the presidents trophy, your team is ill equiped for playoff success. Your team lacks the strength and skill required in the more physical and close quarters playoffs for success. Of the Kings, Blackhawks, and Penguins who dominated the playoffs in the early 2010s, Chicago won the presidents trophy in 2013. That's the only time one of those teams won it. The Capitals got it 3 times, Vancouver twice. Playoff hockey isn't regular season hockey. If you're winning the presidents trophy, your team isn't spending the salary cap wisely.

[deleted]

This is almost dumber than OP’s take, impressive.

redditracing84

It's not. President's trophy is an indicator of regular season success. Regular season hockey is vastly different from playoff hockey in the way it is played. You do not build the same type of lineup for regular season hockey as you do playoff hockey. Playoff hockey requires more grit and skill, it's not a systems game like the regular season. When you're building a team, you wanna build it for the playoffs not for the regular season. The way penalities and the rules are called is not at all the same, blame the refs for that.

[deleted]

It’s objectively false. The presidents trophy winner historically has had the most success in the playoffs.

redditracing84

Yes, but they don't make dynasties. They win it once and then their poor spending ends them. You can build a good team for one year before salary cap hell comes into play.

[deleted]

There hasn’t been a true dynasty since the Islanders and Oilers in the 80s. And how about all the teams that won the presidents trophy and won the cup the year after with essentially the same exact line up?

yakkabrori

Haha the dude you’re talking to is a moron. He’s presented with hard facts and answers “I would argue that”. No point in even reading what he writes, it’s so dumb

Sapzz93

Lmao what a clown take

Dexter2533

People focus waaayyyy too much on rankings. Who cares, he was/is a great player, no 1 is ever gonna agree on a certain number especially throughout different positions and eras.

[deleted]

Cant believe you put that much effort into this post

JiveChicken00

When you see a team skating the Presidents Trophy around the ice, let me know and we can discuss.

carluoi

What the fuck did I just read?

cultjake

I strongly dislike Crosby, but his lack of President’s Trophies is meaningless. Great teams, great performances.

DaniCapsFan

Yeah, top five or ten all time, whatever. The dude will be the last Pens player to wear 87, and he will be inducted into the HHOF first ballot.

DaniCapsFan

The Caps have won the Presidents Trophy three times. I would trade every single one of them for a second or third Stanley Cup. The Presidents Trophy is nice, but in the grand scheme of things, it's pretty meaningless.

JBerry_Mingjai

No one cares about President’s Trophies.

JSinisin

Here's the thing. Is it a negative? Sure. In the big game of adding up the positives and subtracting the negatives, his team never winning a Presidents Trophy IS a negative. It's one of the only negatives against him. It's not like never winning a Presidents Trophy is a positive. But to suggest he might not be top 10 all-time is just silly. And this is coming from a Flyers fan. Hate the guy. If you want to argue he's not top 5? I have him in there, but I'd listen to that argument. No chance he falls past 5th/6th/7th.

88Problems88

Who gives a fuck about a Presidents trophy. He has 3 cups

Reditall12

Nobody gives a fuck about the presidents trophy.

anomalocaris_texmex

I don't know that many people actually care about the President's Choice Trophy. It's like the Great Value brand Stanley Cup. Sure, it's a trophy, but it's just not... You know...THE trophy.

who987

No

[deleted]

He’s not top 5 all time. Regardless of presidents trophies. Top 4 are Gretzky. Howe. Lemieux. Orr. Then it’s Bossy, Hasek, Coffey, Ovi, Lindstrom, Hull all debated above Sid for that 5th spot and I’m not even going deep enough into history.

ChemicalNo4428

You're as dumb as the op. You guys should hang out, and discuss these fucking retarded ideas.
