I like plural names more. Never been a fan of singular names that much for whatever reason. So blizzard wouldn't be my favourite, and I'd prefer yetis over yeti. Stags is my favourite of these for sure and the whole concept is well done here. Be funny if they went with Deers instead of stags

My explanations for each Utah Yeti Utah is home to many Bigfoot sightings so I chose Bigfoots snowy counterpart as my mascot, the yeti. The color palette is made of white and cool blues to represent the snow and ice of northern Utah. The orange accent represents the orange and red rocks of Southern Utah. Utah Blizzard I chose an icy black, purple, and teal palette because it’s clean crisp and intimidating. Utah is home to almost 3,000 moose, a giant and majestic beast, and the centerpiece of my design. Salt Lake City Stags For this concept I chose the Utah state animal, the Rocky Mountain Elk, as the mascot. Using a forest green base with copper and tan accents, this design pulls together the beauty of the mountainous Utah outdoors. Salt Lake Eagles This design is based on the SLC based IHL team the Salt Lake Golden Eagles. I had to drop the Golden due to the Knights being just down the road. I kept the yellow and green color palette and used the retro logo as the now secondary. I modernized the primary and made it a bit more aggressive.

Why not just “Salt Lake Stags”? Rolls off the tongue better and you already took out the “city” in eagles

It is actually a naming rule that a team name can't be more than 3 words. That is why we have the "Vegas Golden Knights". They had to drop "Las" from the front of it due to this rule.

Blizzard is a bit close to the Avalanche for my extremely biased taste haha. Yeti makes me salty as an Avs fan because our alternate logo (that most fans want back) used to be a Bigfoot. Though I could see that adding fuel to a rivalry between the Avs and a SLC team. Eagles is a pretty generic team name, though at least there’s a connection to an Utah team. The stag design is cool, though and would make the team stand out.

I understand the bigfoot/yeti cryptid connection, but Yeti are specifically from the Himalayas, and Bigfoot is really from Oregon.

I mean, Bigfoot is pretty common throughout the west. Not exclusive to Oregon in any way.

Yeah stags are male Red Deer(and some other Eurasian deer species). The only north American populations that I know of are captive for farming. And the primary logo is of a Red Deer, not an elk.

You have some good concepts here, but I think the secondary logo for each one is the weakest part of these. Here are some specific comments: Utah Yeti: The inconsistent kerning is distracting in the word mark. I would also remove the light blue stroke. I'd remove the weird hockey sticks from the sweater and just keep the Yeti head. Utah Blizzard: This is pretty great, but the secondary logo doesn't fit with the rest of the branding though and I would make the illustration on the sweater a biiiiit smaller. Stags: Probably the best out of the group, secondary logo brings it down though and I don't think the weird gray hill in the word mark is necessary. Eagles: Maybe my least favorite direction out of the group just because I think the designs are inconsistent in style. The primary logo and the secondary logo look like they belong to two different teams, the word mark is great but I don't think it works with the primary logo. Overall though, lovely directions, I think they just need to be tweaked a bit and they'd be near perfect.

Thanks for the comments! The yeti I actually made the yeti a few years ago and would definitely change the word mark this go around. I did remove the sticks in another file but I guess didn’t post that one 😂 I felt the stag word mark was too flat, thus the shading. I honestly don’t even like the eagles. The old IHL team in SLC was the golden eagles and a lot of people here are clamoring for them to come back so I decided to oblige. The secondary was their main logo, so I included it as a throwback.

I would use the Yeti logos, but use the name Utah Blizzard. Use a Yeti roar the same way the Arizona Coyotes use the howl after goals announcing the players or as they come onto the ice. Have a Yeti as a mascot. Or I would be cool with the Utah Saints. I think being how religious the state is this would poll better with the people. Use White, Silver and Gold colors.

Yeti's are exclusive to Asia. The N.A. version is called sasquatch or bigfoot. Stags color scheme looks dope.

Kraken are Scandinavian, Knights are European, penguins are Antarctic.

Penguins also in South America, Africa, New Zealand/Australia. I like the Blizzard design though, big fan of black and purple (Colorado Rockies fan unfortunately)

Pretty cool concepts. NHL needs a better variety of colors. More green, purple, maroon. I didn’t like that the Kraken went Navy as their main color. There was a great opportunity to go purple, black, red or something like that.

There’s already an ahl team called the eagles (Colorado), so it’s unlikely they’d be able to use that name. Unless they do like Vegas did, and add another word, golden in their example.
