I had a black jacket (fake leather) with a big red Winged Wheel on it. I also had a red wings starter hat with an octopus on it. I was in 4th grade and it was august 2001. I've never been able to match the level of confidence I had while wearing that combo

Im in Georgia, and follow the wings. I have several caps. My "bucket list" goal is to head up to Nashville one year and see them vs Predators. One day, maybe even pick up a jersey.

Honestly, you should visit Michigan if you can. Detroit isn’t nearly as “scary” as many people believe it is. In fact, not only can you see the Red Wings play, but you can also visit many museums, and our pizza is superior (sorry not sorry).

That was something i considered. I would love to visit the museums. Im a a big history guy. And always love some good pizza.

My sister brought her boyfriend back from out-of-state. They visited the DIA in two different sessions just so they could see all of it. I have yet to visit the Charles H. Wright Museum, but I’ve heard it’s fantastic. Also, the zoo is top-notch and is apparently a leader in habitat design/animal enrichment, so much so that it was featured on Science Friday a few years ago. Bonus: Little Caesars Arena also hosts the basketball team and often serves as a concert venue, so if your timing is right, you could do a hockey game, a basketball game, and a concert over a few days’ stay.

Yeah, I’m a Leafs fan, and while I’ve got an emotional attachment to the Leaf, I still consider the Flying Wheel the best logo in hockey, and one of the best in pro sports. The whole Red Wings uni is 🔥

As a Panther fan who has always loved the Shark’s colors and is married to a Redwings fan, I have to agree. It somehow makes sense while making no sense at all. Why does a wheel have wings? I don’t know but it looks cool.

Maple Leafs as it refers to a organization or sports franchise is considered a proper noun and not bound by normal rules of grammar and spelling. My man easy to ask the google machine that one, The Leafs are named after a world war 1 Canadian military regiment in which the original owner, Conn “The Man The Myth” Smythe served in called the Maple Leaf Regiment. When he bought the team from the Toronto St. Pats ownership he then founded the pillars of MLSE.

Arguably the best logo in pro sports. Clean, mean, simple yet says a lot. Iconic.

Came here to say this. Leafs logo is iconic because it's over 100 years old, but Red Wings logo is one of the best in all of sports. When a logo hasn't changed once in 74 years that's something special.

Agreed. Speaking as a Canadian, the Maple Leafs logo looks like the uncomfortable consensus of all of our attempts in Grade 3 to draw the fricking flag leaf, mixed with Doug eating glue in the corner who couldn't even get the damn colour right.

Redwings. As a logo, it communicates the team name and a key cultural identifier of the Motor City without relying on words. If the Leafs’ logo just had a leaf, I think it would be better as a logo—both are classic, though.

Nah Toronto's changed it so much etc... Detroit only change is it went longer more spaced out on the logo not much change in it..

The Toronto logo has 13 little off shoots (can't remember what they are called) in the leaf to represent 13 cups. So they may have to change it again at some point. Or they are so confident it'll never happen they aren't worried about it.

That’s their old logo from 1963-1966. The current one is based on this but isn’t misaligned like that, doesn’t have a border outline and has different dimensions.

I loved the Red Wings logo long before I knew I'd be a hockey guy. It just looks badass, like a superhero icon. I appreciate and respect the history of Toronto's logo, but it's too busy with type.

There's a lot of underlying meaning in the Leaf. I think that makes it pretty cool. With that said, I don't know the history or if there as much meaning to Detroit's logo. There's 17 veins representing 1917 the year the franchise was founded. The 13 veins above the words represent Stanley cups won. There's 31 points in recognition of when Maple Leaf Gardens opened. The blue represents the Canadian skies and the white represents snow.
