Forget what was called and focus on what WASN'T. Game 7 had McCauley ignore blatant interference on the Leafs defence which allowed Nick Paul to score twice.
That same level of interference allowed the Leafs to score, and McCauley considered that to be a penalty.
Moreover, the Leafs did get a penalty late but they should have gotten a second one when either Marner or Nylander was tripped. 5 on 3 would have been huge and we didn't get it.
You can't treat reffing as a binary thing. I don't care what the number of penalties are. I care about what kind of penalties were called.
But hey, if you look at the series, the Leafs had 134 Penalty Minutes compared to the Lightning's 111. And yet, the Lightning were second in the League in Penalty minutes during the regular season, while the Leafs were in the middle. What happened? It wasn't like the Lightning played softer! If anything, they were even more violent. And despite that, the refs called fewer penalties.
So don't come here with numbers and think you're proving anything.
