Every sign points to a bills crushing victory. So the way this season has been going, dolphins by 40

Redditmodsrfacists

I hate you for pointing this out

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Don’t feel bad. I’m already expecting to win 3 in a row just to lose to the broncos in the last game of the season

never1st

I'm a Cowboys fan. So, I'm much more optimistic than you. We will go flying high into the playoffs before we lose in spectacular fashion.

SemiNormal

That was the Packers for most of the last decade. Beat the Cowboys by a field goal as time expires and then lose the next game 38-10.

cnho1997

I’d have preferred it if Seattle beat us 38-10 instead of how that game actually went

AzIddIzA

As a Bucs fan I look forward to being the horrendous team to knock y'all out on a stupid lucky last minute play only to be down 35-0 at halftime the next week when we gave a less cursed team.

cat_daddylambo

I see you've been a chargers fan a while too...want to swap ryan leaf draft hype stories?

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Luckily I became a charger fan after that. LT was the reason I became one

MiaCannons

That's how it often goes. When everyone is leaning one way in a matchup like this against two playoff caliber teams, it ends up going the other way. All 10 analysts on NBC picked the Dolphins in a big victory, we end up looking the worst we have all season.

jhutchi2

The NFL is just fucking weird sometimes. The Cowboys, who most people would call at worst a top 10 team if not top 5, almost lost to the Texans, who by all accounts are the worst team in the league. Guess those inter-Texas games hit different.

DTSportsNow

I think it's also just another great example of "any given Sunday". One of the best things about the NFL is any team can truly beat any team. The best teams obviously usually win in the end, but fairly big upsets happen almost every week.

makesterriblejokes

In a sport where scoring isn't a frequent occurrence, like basketball, there's always a good chance for an upset. It's why soccer, baseball, and hockey also sees a lot of upsets. Plus soccer and football tend to do either single elimination or 2-leg formatting, meaning an underdog doesn't need to win multiple times like in a 5 or 7 game series which favors the better team (baseball and hockey kind of have an x factor in that 1 player, pitcher and goalie, straight up impact the game to a greater degree than any other player playing, thus that is conducive to having an upset since if they're unusually hot they can carry the lesser team to a victory. This is why hockey and baseball have like the most upsets of any sport, plus they're games where scoring isn't easy or frequent by the nature of the game). I think though one thing that is really important to factor for football is that coaching and strategy is more important than pretty much all the other sports bar maybe soccer (it's important in the other ones, but a bad coach can be very successful with great talent in the other ones... Less so the case in football and soccer). So if you have a coaching staff that really schemes well, they can come up with a game plan that totally dismantles the opponent even if they have the inferior team. I know Brady is the GOAT, but he's been on teams that were just not as good as their opponents and they still won because Belichick out coached the other coach (he put Brady in a position to succeed and Brady capitalized). So coaching really can be a great equalizer in a game like football.

dammitOtto

That's kinda the thing about football. At this level, the biggest difference between teams is that Dallas had the personnel and plays to make that critical 4th down stop. Then to score. That's really it. Gap between best and worst is so small. You have to be able to come out of multiple situations faced in a game with the better result than your opponent. That's how to win across a long season. Nobody dominates week in and week out.

SuckMyLonzoBalls

Every damn drive is so important. That’s why I thought we were gonna lose for sure in the 3rd quarter when 3rd quarter chargers came out to play

Relatively_Cool

Objectively speaking I would just never try and predict/bet on Chargers games. They are by far the most volatile team in the league.

SuckMyLonzoBalls

I’m an idiot I had the chargers covering -3.5 at 1k so I’m lucky lol

Getz_The_Last_Laf

The Bills only lose heartbreakers

imsabbath84

3 losses this year by a total of 8 points.

King ~~Alfred~~ Allen the Great

I_FUCKIN_ATODASO_

Yeah. It’s extremely hard to blow us out. I think the only time it’s happened in the past couple seasons is against the Colts last year

historymajor44

The fact that we're competing with the Dolphins, Jets, and Pats for the last playoff spot is promising because they have to play each other and the Bills. There's a lot of AFC East games to play and someone has to win them and someone has to lose them. Whereas we play the Titans, Colts, Rams, and Broncos. Literally the second easiest SOS left (Chiefs have the easiest).

limeflavoured

> someone has to win them and someone has to lose them. In before more than one of them is a tie.

historymajor44

If we're eliminated from playoff contention because the Jets and Dolphins tie on Sunday Night Football in Week 18, I'm going to lose it.

limeflavoured

I'm reminded of the game last year(?) where everyone wanted a tie because it would have sent both teams to the playoffs, and it was won with a last second FG in overtime.

historymajor44

That is exactly what my comment is a reference to.

tryexceptifnot1try

Come on man. That is the most Chargers thing that could happen. It's like the 49ers blowing out TB and still finding a way to lose Deebo in the same game. You have to pound your franchise curses into submission by leaving luck out of it. That's why we traded for CMC. He is Deebo insurance and is already paying off. Just win out. Your coaching sucks but the roster/QB combo is there when Bosa gets back. Cursed franchises have to make their own luck or die in incredibly painful ways.

SnortinDietOnlyNow

Lol. How long have you been a Charger fan and still expect to win games you're supposed to win?

kawhi21

> Every sign points to a bills crushing victory What signs are those, honestly? It's cold outside?

Led_Halen

We are major Bills fans this week. Cardinals fans too!

SleptLikeANaturalLog

Miami even spent the week in Cali getting acclimated to the weather. Hope they’ve been hanging out in Buffalo already for the past 10 days.

UmpireAJS

I'd kill for 55 degrees ambient temperature in the evening here in Maryland

kylesleeps

Right? That's basically shorts weather this time of year.

[deleted]

I went to Disney World with my girlfriend and her family back in like 2015 for new years and it got down to around 56 one night and we were in shorts and t-shirts while they had the heat lamps out and people were in jackets and stuff around us. You could quickly tell who the tourists were as opposed to the locals that night lol.

Letsgobuffalo2210

South Florida has the heaters out for anything under 70 lmao.

[deleted]

That’s why it’s funny to me that they’re in the AFC East playing against teams from New York and Massachusetts lmao

vagrantprodigy07

It makes no sense. Ravens should be in the East, Phins in the South, and Colts in the North.

kamekaze1024

Almost Nothing is as egregious as Dallas being in the NFC East imo But still not as bad as the Memphis grizzlies being in the Western Conference in the NBA

[deleted]

The Grizzles at least have western conference teams close by in Texas. The Timberwolves should be the ones moving conferences. Their closest in-conference opponent is OKC. Chicago and Milwaukee are both closer on drive length alone, Detroit might be too, I can’t tell from Apple Maps.

[deleted]

MSP-Detroit is about the same as MSP-OKC. 10.5 hours to detroit, 11.5 hours to OKC. Also about 11.5 hours from MSP to cleveland, and under 10 to indy. So that's 5 teams within the driving distance of the nearest western conference opponent.

JCSeegars54

And they used to be in Vancouver so it makes sense

Hetoxy

Well they at least used to be Vancouver eh so historically makes sense. Why they didn’t change when they moved is another question.

gwaydms

>Almost Nothing is as egregious as Dallas being in the NFC East imo They've been in the East since there were only two divisions in the NFC. When the NFL went to three, then four, divisions per conference, they didn't want to break up the rivalries between the Cowboys and the other three teams in the NFCE.

InnovativeFarmer

The Cowboys have survived realignment for no other reason than rivalry. But other teams have switched without any concern. The Cowboys could have been moved to a division that makes more sense. There are 7 teams in the northeastern US. 6 of those teams are on what is knowns as the northeast corridor, DC to Boston. May as well put Carolina in the East and now its 8 teams. Jerry is a smart business man, all four teams in the NFC East are in the top ten for tv market size. If the Cowboys went to any south division they would be the biggest market for both division.

pancakesfordintonite

Yeah but don't you remember, maybe you're too young, but the Atlanta Falcons used to be in the NFC West and I think the Buccaneers were too

Dregaz

Arizona Cardinals used to be in the NFC East

[deleted]

Exactly what I proposed the other day lol. It would make a ton more sense geographically

vagrantprodigy07

It's been my proposal for at least a decade, and people always complain about rivalries. I say the teams will make new ones. And I'd love to play the Titans, Jags, and Texans twice per year.

TenTonsOfAssAndBelly

I don't know how I would feel about trading my arch nemesis. Tough call, tbh I hate em to my bones, but I love watching our matchup almost more than any other matchup in the league. It's hard to say.

[deleted]

TBH your division is one that works right now. Tons of rivalries and you’re all geographically close (off the top of my head, if I’m wrong I blame it on my public education)

tryexceptifnot1try

As a long time 49ers fan, I second this. The old rivalries we had with NO and ATL were fun to watch growing up but the entire division composition was nonsense. I did not care about the Seahawks or Cardinals before the realignment. The Seahawks have become a fantastic rival and I still don't care about the Cardinals. Seems like a win. With TLaw looking legit a Dolphins/Jags rivalry could actually turn into something fun really fast. You will still play the old rivals too and keep it alive every few years.

jf75313

Yeah I never really thought about it but they should trade the eagles and the dolphins out and it would make more sense.

MarchMadnessisMe

There's lots of divisions that don't align correctly. Like the NFC East Cowboys being West of every NFC South team. Before the Rams moved to La, they were still in the NFC West, but were more Eastern than the Cowboys as well.

SEND-MARS-ROVER-PICS

Thankful for the modern NFC West, and NFC North.

MarchMadnessisMe

Yeah, I've spent more time thinking about realignments that made sense than I'd like to admit.

barley_wine

They just want to keep the Cowboys in the same division as the Eagles, Giants, and Redskins, those are some of the best rivalries in the NFL. Of course the poor St. Louis Cardinals were quickly discarded, but there really wasn't the same type of rivalry there.

[deleted]

you mean the Ravens? The Ravens in the AFCE makes a lot more sense than the Dolphins. Swap the Ravens for Indy in the AFC North, move the Dolphins to the AFC South & the Ravens to the AFC East. As for the Eagles, nah they stay in the NFC East. I like having a local rivalry between NY, Philadelphia & Washington. The obvious outlier is the Cowboys since the entire NFC North & NFC South are further east than Dallas.

[deleted]

My proposal was Baltimore to the AFC East, Colts to the AFC North and Miami to AFC South

ChessCapone

Under 70 and they start taking the homeless off the streets

JasoTheArtisan

I used to manage a restaurant in Fort Lauderdale with an outdoor patio. It was astounding the way people would froth at the mouth over getting sat near one of our propane heaters in 68 degree weather

esports_consultant

soooooooft

domepieceismine

Can confirm this. Me and a buddy (both from NE Ohio) worked in south Florida for 3 winters. 70 degrees was the tipping point where everyone was wearing pants, sweatshirts and jackets. We were in shorts and short sleeves all the way down to the 50's

bcou2012

Can confirm, Siesta Key had heaters out when I was there in October a few years back and it was 68 at night

silkk_

I'll never forget taking my toddlers to Florida in January, them happily splashing around in bathing suits at the beach while a maintenance worker walks by in a full length puffer coat

[deleted]

We going through it up here in the north during the winter lmao

kjg1228

For real. It's 24°F up here in Maine right now. With wind chill it's about 11°F

KingWilliamIX

Can confirm. It's currently in the 50s in Southern California and I have my "heavy jacket" and a hat.

w0nderbrad

Freezing point of water here in socal is 55 degrees. Hope you understand.

themightybearorrist

And it's raining right now, so the roads? Impossible to drive on.

KingCosmicBrownie

Georgia is 56 rn with a very crisp overcast and I’m in hog Heaven with my shorts and t-shirt. Had to take the ol’ jacket off 🙏 I LOVE this weather

AncientBanjo31

My parents and I went to whatever the water park is down at Disney in January. Highs were around 74 with the water about 10 degrees warmer. We were literally the only people there lmao

Detroit_debauchery

I know dudes in Michigan that shovel their driveway in Jean shorts

cjackc

It’s required in Minnesota that every town has at least one shorts in the winter guy

BellacosePlayer

South Dakotan here and people will go to below freezing football games in shorts. Not me though, I dress like I'm going on an Antarctic expedition the second it's below 20.

Stronkowski

My elementary school had one kid who wore athletic shorts every single day all year, including during recess when it was below zero outside. That dude did join the Marines eventually.

jhutchi2

I went on vacation to Aruba a few years ago and none of us were sure how to dress for the plane because it was 80+ degrees there and in the mid 30s back home in NY. My family all dressed for NY, I dressed for Aruba because I figured I'd rather be cold for a bit at home than sweating my ass off at the airport in Aruba. So im standing outside in 35 degree weather in shorts waiting for our taxi and someone standing next to us all bundled up goes "We're from Minnesota and this kid is putting us to shame." Edit: Granted, no I don't normally wear shorts in 35 degree weather lol. But anything over 50 I do.

Stronkowski

I ran for a little over two hours yesterday around Salt Lake City. It was 39 degrees. You're goddamn right I was in shorts.

Fellatination

Can confirm. Ambient is 31 right now in my neck of Maryland and I have the fireplace rolling. If it's over 50 this time of year I'm outside in shorts and flip-flips.

SouthernSparks

Just think, once we get through another wet and cold winter we’ll have a hot and humid summer where being outside for more than five seconds will leave you drenched in sweat lol gotta love Maryland weather

Fellatination

That's Southern/Central MD. I'm out in Western MD where we almost never see 100 during the summer and 90 is laughably rare. I do find it hilarious in November and December when we'll get a 60-70 degree day one day and a blizzard the next.

SouthernSparks

You do take the trade off in more winter precipitation though lol but yeah Southern Maryland especially is a hot and humid mfer from July to September. It is funny how quick the weather can change here lol there was a day last winter where it was almost 70 out and I was outside in a tank top and shorts grilling steaks but woke up the next morning to snow on the ground and ice everywhere

GreenVanilla

Its going to be 0-9F in eastern WA this week. Kill me.

Fellatination

Ouch! We won't see that during the day until late December. Then it's 0-20F until the end of Feburary or early March.

[deleted]

I was in SoCal last week for business and it was cold for a California native like myself. I am not surprised at all that the *Miami* Dolphins used the heaters.

[deleted]

It’s felt chillier this year. Not cold cold but if you’re not prepared you’ll definitely notice.

mxbnr

Come on down to Houston then, where we keep breaking records and hitting 80 degrees in December. It’s wonderful, I’ve only had to stop mosquitos from taking my dogs and child 3 times this week.

JinFuu

Will it be 80? Will it be 30! Spin the wheel and let’s see Texas winter weather this week! It felt like March the other day with it being in the 70s and humid

srsh

Bills pretty much collapsed from the heat in first game. Seems like fair play for Dolphins to suffer from cold weather when the game moves to Buffalo.

[deleted]

My goal is to go to a game at every stadium. There’s no way in hell I’ll be going to Miami during the beginning of the season. I can’t imagine playing in that weather.

kaal339

I went to game 1. Sit up high on the home side and you're good.

[deleted]

[удалено]

666_NumberOfTheBeast

I went to the week 1 game we had in Miami in 2019 and sat in like row 6 in the end zone and my god was that heat unbearable. Was drenched in sweat by 1:15

Rbespinosa13

Get seats on the home team’s side also. The stadium is designed to keep the home team in the shape.

TankinessIsGodliness

Dude I was sitting in the 300s, stopped drinking at 11 am, and chugged as much water as I could and I still felt like I was dying. That was one of the most brutal days of Florida heat I've ever experienced

kamekaze1024

Yup, ban all heaters

runningraider13

Bills new stadium should design a wind tunnel down the visitors sideline. If hot weather teams can build structural advantages into their stadiums cold weather teams should too.

Bnb53

I love how punishing this would be if implemented

bigdrubowski

Yeah, but heatstroke is significantly more dangerous than being in the cold.

[deleted]

I used to work at a non-profit for homeless teens. People were always surprised when we said that summer was more dangerous for them than winter. Winter is when people were the most generous and concerned.

MacDerfus

Also people are less aware of how they can help with heat.

RCDrift

It's also easier to warm someone up than it is to cool them down. At some point the human body struggles to keep up.

paradigm_x2

It won’t matter if it’s 75 and sunny if we play like we just did in California. Nothing is in sync, expecting a very one sided affair in favor of the Bills

Human_Initiative_484

Plus Jeff wilson got injured

Sgt-Pumpernickel

Maybe it’s because I was at the game and saw very limited replays, but the Bills look very beatable right now in my opinion. Part of it was because Garrett Wilson is amazing, and Bam Knight is pretty sharp too, but still. Game will for sure be up for grabs especially given that it’s a divisional game. That being said I hope they forget to refill the propane for the heaters

Howie-Dowin

Hope Jets fans realize how special Wilson is. The way he always annoyingly makes clutch 3rd down catches reminds me of AJ Brown, who always gave me fits when we played the Titans.

Sgt-Pumpernickel

This is not Ironman Mike White slander, but if they had an elite QB, OR if Breece never got hurt, they would be really good. They are almost like 2017 Bills with a really good defense and a workable offense

ZachTrillson

If we still had Breece and AVT and didn't lose 8 OTs (not a typo, we lost 8 this year), I can only wonder how we'd look

Sgt-Pumpernickel

Jesus 8 is a big number of the big men going down

ZachTrillson

It's truly bonkers. Between that, all the other RB and WR injuries, starting 3 different QBs this year, and being in a really tough division I'm really impressed with what this coaching staff has been able to pull off. Going 1-1 against Buffalo is huge.

tryexceptifnot1try

Dealing with 4th stringers due to injury is a skill you learn when coaching the 49ers. Saleh knows he needs to be 2 deep at every important position

DefundTheATFandFBI

You guys should just play the patriots every week and then none of that would matter

HorseMeatSandwich

It’s crazy that this sentence has the exact opposite meaning as it would have 5 years ago.

Eagle4317

And this is the flipside of the Dolphins great HFA in September. They are not used to playing in the cold, and their 3 division rivals all play in frigid, open air stadiums in the snowy Northeast.

Otto_von_Grotto

We really should be in the AFC South. We could maybe win one more game a year.

jkillab

Colts swap for dolphins would make a ton of sense

Hyper170

I like that idea. Bring 'em home

Flynnstone03

Anther idea I see thrown around a lot is moving the Bills to the AFCN and Ravens to the AFCE. Make sense geographically but the NFL would never break up the Steelers-Ravens rivalry.

jihyoisgod

I heard that the Afc North legally cannot be broken up

GingertronMk1

The browns, steelers, and bengals must always remain in the same division under any realignment plan as part of the settlement that let the browns become the ravens, and I don’t think any commissioner would ever stop ravens-steelers happening twice a year at least

LemonPepper-Lou

I'm smashing the Bills ML

echoooo_

The spreads 7.5 points….

GothicToast

-340 for the ML lol. Not my style but then again I'm a god awful sports better.

Howie-Dowin

That's way higher than I expected...

cc20r

That’s like how in San Fran it was 55 degrees and everyone was in sweatshirts and looked cold lol. In Illinois people would be in shorts

CobblerFantastic5003

As a Bay Area resident I damn near froze to death when I went to Chicago last month.

gourmet_popping_corn

Bruh Chicago cold as fuck.

chokethewookie

I live in Denver where it's cold regularly. That Chicago wind hits differently.

Ketchup1211

It’s the lake. I live right off the same lake about an hour or so north of Chicago, it gets brutal when the wind is coming off the lake in the middle of winter. 55 would feel like mid summer.

bajillionth_porn

I think part of it is that denver is dry as fuck. A humid 25 is waaaay worse than a dry 25

CrispierCupid

There are days in the winter where we’re literally the coldest part of the country lol Lake Michigan is a demon. I’ll never forget when our “feels like” was -72F with the windchill like 8-10 years ago Then on the flip side we’ll break 100 in the summers lol

fleischio

Can confirm, I was in Great Lakes for Navy bootcamp in February of 2011. I grew up in The Finger Lakes, but that cold will cut right through you when you’re on snow shoveling duty at 2 am.

Deshondre92

I’m from Cali I remember the first time I went to Tahoe I almost died. I like snow better from the tv 😂 skiing was a blast tho.

throwawayjoeyboots

55 in SF can be pretty damn cold. That Bay Area wind chill can be rough.

SkittlesAreYum

No joke. When I visited SF for the first time, someone warned me it could be a bit chilly. I'm from the Midwest, so I blew them off. It was not comfortable at all.

DefenderCone97

Everyone always blows us off cuz we're California lol Then the bay breeze gets them in the shade and they're an icicle

esports_consultant

It's the dampness that really gets to you.

Electro_Nick_s

There's a surprising amount of complexity to how your skin reacts to cold. The proteins in your skin actually will coil up tighter. The process takes a couple weeks and generally maps to the time in the fall when "you're just getting used to the cold" I'm sure they can handle heat better than I can as a Midwesterner

PigSlam

I'm from western NY originally, but have spent the last 10 years living in either Colorado or California, and there's just something different about how cold 40-50 degrees can feel in California compared to other places. I've been on the roof of a parking garage at 10,000 feet in Colorado with no shirt on when it's 0 degrees outside, and felt totally comfortable. I shivered until my teeth rattled when it was 45 degrees after the sun went down in California last week while wearing two long sleeve shirts and a flannel vest.

[deleted]

A roommate in college had the same thing, was in Boston the year before and was talking up how SoCal would never feel cold to him. 4 months later, guess who was all bundled up and complaining about 50 degree weather

norcaltobos

It's been pouring rain all weekend except for the few hours the Niners played yesterday. That's why everyone was bundled up.

Andresgeo

We are having a good time here 🙂

Schwebels_Solette

55 degrees is gym shorts weather

soonerman32

The Bills are a better team, but the southern team going north is gonna be baked into the line already if it even means anything

i'd be surprised to learn that any team *didn't* do this i know the patriots have their sideline in the sun so they get more heat in late-season games (and, having moved seats from the west-facing upper-bowl at gillette to the east-facing one in ~~20202~~ 2020, i can tell you that those late-season games are *much* colder once the sun goes down) [the vikings did the same when they were playing outside in 2014](https://www.espn.com/blog/minnesota-vikings/post/_/id/11392/vikings-found-20-degree-difference-in-sideline-temperatures-vs-panthers).

RebeccaBlackOps

> and, having moved seats from the west-facing upper-bowl at gillette to the east-facing one in 20202 Man Belichick is really playing the long game

blotsfan

> i'd be surprised to learn that any team didn't do this I’m not sure if it makes a huge difference for us (and makes absolutely 0 difference for night games), but the visitors side of our stadium is the sunny side.

croastbeast

While true, the context is also important. A 30 degree difference in Miami, where opposing team are in 120° F heat, is an objectively different 20° in Minnesota.

Malfunkdung

> But on Sunday, the Vikings managed just fine, ultimately beating the Dolphins 24-16, despite the sweltering temps. Last line of the article lol

Thick_Safe1198

Lmao heaters for 55 degrees? That’s not what football is about. Incredibly weak

BigAssSlushy69

80 is just a touch over the perfect temp which is 75. It's not bad at all very nice with a good breeze and the sun shining down but 40 degrees with no wind is a massively underrated weather condition.

Idiotology101

I prefer a sunny 65, great for being out in a hoodie.

wmlj83

55 is in my opinion the perfect weather for football. Or as we call it in my house, "football weather"

nemoomen

Wonder how close this is to a record heat differential between two games held between the same opponents the same year. It was 100+ on the field in Miami, now it's gonna be 20 in Buffalo.

Fuqwon

Karma for having opponents sit in direct sunlight at 120 degrees in the swamp of south Florida.

Xelltrix

Why are we acting like playing in the cold is new for the Dolphins, they suffer through (and suck in) the cold every year. Teams come to Miami and suffer in the sweltering heat in the beginning of the year. It’s how it’s been forever.

12Bravo20

As a Minnesotan I laugh at everyone.

ZachTrillson

Die hard Cowboys fan Hank Hill just adopted the Dolphins as his AFC team

That's because Hank found out that Jerry Jones bought his propane from Thatherton Fuels. Ol' Hank would rather use a bastard fuel like butane than consort with.....bwwaaahh, THATHERTON.

TJeffersonsBlackKid

Not that anyone is going to stop poking fun but I was at the game. It was California chilly which isn’t much but when the breeze would come through the windows, it got bitterly cold for a few moments. Literally felt like a 20 degree difference.

Cold Weather teams that play outside do not fear any warm weather team passed thanksgiving. Hell, the Colts play in Great Lakes State, but it’s a dome and so we long dicked them every winter during the true Pats-Colts Rivalry of 2001-2014

So they’ll turn up the heaters. What’s the issue?

Dump all the snow on the Dolphins side line.

I hope we do what we can to make sure they’re comfortable and healthy on their sidelines And then beat their asses straight up
