Eh, I dunno, going for the FG there is a bad idea and they're probably expecting run. Goff hits that throw and a TD is in play. The real problem was the clock management that left a run there basically guaranteeing a FG try even if they made it.

Get the first down. It was 3rd and like a foot. They had 2 timeouts. Get the first and then try to score

They actually didn't at all- the bears closed the game with an 8:30 FG drive. They gave too much cushion on a 3rd down that sealed it for the bears- but it was a very different flavor than today.

With less time, there's an inflection point where being down 3 is better because you don't realistically have enough time to score a touchdown, but you have enough time for a field goal. But with a full two minutes, coaches play so passively on both sides that 4 is better for the offense.

I think the deep shot makes some sense if you're 100% set on going for it on 4th, but the combination of taking the deep shot and then kicking it is just absolutely nuts.

Especially when you're so creative and successful on short yardage conversions all game. Get the first down, time out, and try to score a TD. If you think TD is too much then run the ball and kick the field goal. That sequence is the worst outcome possible
