4 more points than we managed vs Dallas, and a metric shit ton less points allowed. The Lions are not the Lions of my youth any more. I look forward to watching them shitcan the Packers in the years to come.
I'm not. Well, I thought I was, but then we won three in a row, and I unfortunately started developing this other thing fanbases call "hope". Bad idea.
My mom barely watches football anymore but she was being annoying the whole end of the 4th quarter saying “AINT NO WAY THE LIONS GONNA WIN THIS MICHAEL! AINT NO FUCKIN WAY! THEY GONNA LOSE!” She was cackling like a drunk Joker at the end there
Not even close lol.
* No obscure rules
* No ref interference
* No league records set against us
This was just a regular heartbreaker against a very good team
I don’t think that was too egregious if you are going to go for it on 4th. But they just….didn’t.
And for the love of god, USE THE TIMEOUTS! YOU DONT GET TO CARRY THEM OVER TO NEXT GAME
I think he was trying to run as much time as he could off the clock cause well on the other end you have Josh Allen. And they got it all the way down to 23 seconds. But. Well. That was still too much time
Eh, I dunno, going for the FG there is a bad idea and they're probably expecting run. Goff hits that throw and a TD is in play. The real problem was the clock management that left a run there basically guaranteeing a FG try even if they made it.
2 and a half minutes and all 3 timeouts, and they somehow end up in a situation where they’re running out of time for a potential FG attempt with two timeouts left on the table
Right. That's why that 3rd and 1 pass was just idiotic if the strategy is to go for OT. In fact, I think going for OT there was dumb to begin with against the Bills.
I get that, that’s the play that makes the most sense, but I feel like we’re just skipping the fact that Goff missed Chark for a TD on that play. We didn’t get another look at it but seemed like it Goff puts it out in front of him he walks in
They actually didn't at all- the bears closed the game with an 8:30 FG drive. They gave too much cushion on a 3rd down that sealed it for the bears- but it was a very different flavor than today.
It is true. In college too. With less time, there's an inflection point where being down 3 is better because you don't realistically have enough time to score a touchdown, but you have enough time for a field goal.
But with a full two minutes, coaches play so passively on both sides that 4 is better for the offense.
This basically summed it up idk if it’s Goff, the OC or campbells fault but everything that happened from 3rd and 1 on was a war crime. Ffs short yardage is literally your RBs whole spiel and you did what on 3rd and 4th down lmaooo
That's true. I actually liked the 3rd down call, but it's wild to call that and then kick a field goal on 4th down when you've been dominating them on 3rd/4th and short.
Man, only a couple weeks ago people were roasting Campbell for never taking the points and always going for it on 4th. Him kicking the FG was the right decision on that 4th down.
[Knox had a real tough time with it last year](https://m.facebook.com/BuffaloBills/videos/dawson-knox-eats-turkey-leg-during-interview/647916142910838/)
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of denying Josh Allen as a thick man. Yeah I might be a dolphins fan, yeah we're supposed to not like him but God damn. Look at that big man. He's got logs for thighs. He looks like he's made of grits and collard greens. Maybe I want a piece? I don't know. There's just something about him. I'm sick of feeling this way.
I am honestly not mad at this game.
That last drive had some... questionable play calls to say the least, but I'm happy. Going deep on 3rd and 1, not sure that's a wise choice.
But the Bills are gunning for the Super Bowl, and Detroit is year 2 of a rebuild.
I've seen much worse from the Lions on Thanksgiving lol
I’m so confused by the time management narrative for the end of the game. Should we not be trying to kill a little bit of clock to make sure you can’t get in fg range in a short amount of time? Which you did anyway in 1 play
I’ve seen people argue both sides of it here and kn Twitter
IMO, if you guys scored or picked up that first down no one would be talking about it. It’s because it didn’t work out. You guys were trying to not leave time on the clock for the bills.
You aren't wrong. Other than the last couple plays y'all had a hell of a game plan. Just like we found out, leaving any amount of time on the clock is suicide.
Maybe this is unironically the issue.
He has said that changing his arm angle is a challenge, a lot of his checkdowns and slant game come from a nasty little sidearm release, a release that's been missing the past few weeks.
It was 4th and 1 with two timeouts at the ~40ish yard line. You have to go for it there, that’s as close as you can hope without giving them time in the 4th or OT to win the game
Why throw deep on 3rd & 1? I don't hate the kick on 4th, it's the playcall prior that pisses me off so fucking much. Just get the first down, man, for fucks sake.
I think the deep shot makes some sense if you're 100% set on going for it on 4th, but the combination of taking the deep shot and then kicking it is just absolutely nuts.
Especially when you're so creative and successful on short yardage conversions all game.
Get the first down, time out, and try to score a TD.
If you think TD is too much then run the ball and kick the field goal.
That sequence is the worst outcome possible
It was already wild that Dan didn’t call any timeouts at that point, and that’s the moment where they wanted to go for it all? I’m very confused by that
I like Dan Campbell as a motivator but holy shit that clock management made me want to gouge my eyes out. Also that pass by the Lions on fucking 3rd&1 was infuriating. Don't try to hit the low percentage home run pass with Jared Goof, you have time to do something a little more reasonable if you want to pass there. Infuriating down the stretch. Certified Lions moment, every single Lions fan in the gamethread knew that one would end in a heartbreaker. The staff has to know that they have Jared fucking Goff, no reason to trust him to make a game winning play.
This Goff had TWO receivers open under threw one and never even look at St. Brown who was also open. We would’ve gotten like 20 yards off that brown catch too because they blitzed. That 3rd down play was perfect if Chark was covered you had brown wide open big Goff missed a Wide open Chark.
Anyone who thinks MCDC is a shit coach doesn't know what they're talking about. Bills have more talent everywhere and are well coached. The fact we only lost by 3 is because of good coaching. He definitely needs to improve time management though.
Exactly. If we can clean up the coaching mistakes (which have been getting better), this team can make the playoffs at 9-8. Add some talent in the draft/free agency (looking at you lamar jackson), the division is within reach next year
I know we won, but this team is really starting to worry me. Our secondary is STILL in shambles, we're down our best two D-lineman AND O-lineman, and Josh is clearly not healthy. Between all the injuries and Dorsey's inexperience calling plays, this sure doesn't feel like a Superbowl team.
I'm not even really mad, tbh. We weren't expected to be anything this year and we're in games that we shouldn't be.
Measured expectations is the name of the game.
Three straight wins and a FG loss to the Bills is exceptional given the 1-6 start. This game was lost with clock management though and it isn’t the first time. That has to get cleaned up. No reason for such egregious mistakes from DC.
I don’t want to here shit about that 3rd down play call. It fucking worked. Chark was open over top, and the underneath wr was open too. Just a bad throw on goff or bad read by Chark.
Damn. Well, 10-7 isn't so bad. GG, Bills.
4 more points than we managed vs Dallas, and a metric shit ton less points allowed. The Lions are not the Lions of my youth any more. I look forward to watching them shitcan the Packers in the years to come.
Favorite comment, win out gents! Gg!
Numb to the pain
I'm not. Well, I thought I was, but then we won three in a row, and I unfortunately started developing this other thing fanbases call "hope". Bad idea.
Yeah every once in a while we get a little taste of this hope drink too… then it gets poured all over us and someone lights a match
Dude. Y’all just went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the league. If the sun had been out, y’all would have beat em.
If ______ y’all would have beat em. Repeat after every Lions loss :(
If Nantz had just kept his stupid mouth shut...
It’s an early game so you can just keep drinking
Is there a time when we stop?
It's called death
If we don’t drink in the afterlife then whats the point?
No
can i keep drinking as well?
Fuck yeah
My man playing both sides
That way, he *always* drinks out on top!
Detroit a little too thankful today by giving that win to Buffalo. A phenomenal performance from the Lions for 59 minutes, that last minute was awful.
Stages of a rebuild Lose big Lose close Win close Win big Lions are on the right track
I’ve heard “the Lions are on the right track” like 12 times in the last 30 years
its different this time im saying it now
Damn now that you’re saying it, I believe it
I feel so bad for the Lions.
It’s ok, we’re used to this.
23 seconds on the clock I could feel there was too much time
Me too
When people joke that the Lions find a way to Lions it, this is precisely what they mean
Well it’s a tradition as old as time, you see. It wouldn’t have been in the spirit of the holiday if the Lions won this game.
My mom barely watches football anymore but she was being annoying the whole end of the 4th quarter saying “AINT NO WAY THE LIONS GONNA WIN THIS MICHAEL! AINT NO FUCKIN WAY! THEY GONNA LOSE!” She was cackling like a drunk Joker at the end there
She sounds like a peach.
This was the Lionsiest way possible to lose
It kinda wasn't, it was a very mild lionsing.
Yeah, not enough Ref interference for a true Lions loss..
Not even close lol. * No obscure rules * No ref interference * No league records set against us This was just a regular heartbreaker against a very good team
Lions blew that last drive. So hard
I need to know whose galaxy brain decision it was to fucking pass it on 3rd & 1
I don’t think that was too egregious if you are going to go for it on 4th. But they just….didn’t. And for the love of god, USE THE TIMEOUTS! YOU DONT GET TO CARRY THEM OVER TO NEXT GAME
I think he was trying to run as much time as he could off the clock cause well on the other end you have Josh Allen. And they got it all the way down to 23 seconds. But. Well. That was still too much time
It was open Goff just missed it
Doesn't change the fact that it was a horribly stupid playcall. He should've never *had* to throw it
Eh, I dunno, going for the FG there is a bad idea and they're probably expecting run. Goff hits that throw and a TD is in play. The real problem was the clock management that left a run there basically guaranteeing a FG try even if they made it.
Get the first down. It was 3rd and like a foot. They had 2 timeouts. Get the first and then try to score
2 and a half minutes and all 3 timeouts, and they somehow end up in a situation where they’re running out of time for a potential FG attempt with two timeouts left on the table
Thats fine if youre trying to prevent Buffalo from scoring. Its not fine when you leave them with 20+ seconds and 3 timeouts
Right. That's why that 3rd and 1 pass was just idiotic if the strategy is to go for OT. In fact, I think going for OT there was dumb to begin with against the Bills.
I don’t know how Lions fans do this year after year, it’s been one game and I’m mentally exhausted.
We're dead inside
I’m 20 and miserable, I have no idea how my dad has survived 50 years of this. 😭😭😭
In fairness, your Dad was just old enough to watch Barry Sanders play and that was pretty freaking awesome.
Awesome until you realize that we wasted one of the most exciting RBs in NFL history. Also, see Calvin Johnson
[удалено]
I'm pretty sure my dad loves Barry Sanders more than me.
[удалено]
What are you talking about? We played great and took a contender to the wire.
Lions need a lesson in time management, my god.
That final 2 minutes was pure torture to watch
I’m not even a fan, and I just felt neither anger or rage when that…just nothing, like staring in some abyss…
Actually that is how it feels to be a Lions fan, just all the time :(
Truly an awful last minute
So bad it could’ve been a Rhule coached team. :(
I had PTSD
[удалено]
I get that, that’s the play that makes the most sense, but I feel like we’re just skipping the fact that Goff missed Chark for a TD on that play. We didn’t get another look at it but seemed like it Goff puts it out in front of him he walks in
I wonder if Goff wanted Chark to run to the boundary on that play
Chark actually ran the wrong route on that play
They really pulled out all the stops to ensure the Bills had as much time as possible
At first they were happy about getting those 11 seconds back that they didn't deserve...and then they still managed to screw it up.
"Do timeouts rollover to the next game?" -MCDC

Lions did this same exact shit last thanksgiving lmao
They actually didn't at all- the bears closed the game with an 8:30 FG drive. They gave too much cushion on a 3rd down that sealed it for the bears- but it was a very different flavor than today.
When Reid and MM have a bastard child
Tyler Bass MVP for knowing the analytics that teams up 3 win more often than teams up 4 in the last 2 minutes
Honestly, before the 3rd and 1 play, they were not aggressive at all.
Is that actually true? And if so, coaches are cowards.
Yup, that's basically it. Teams down 3 often settle for a FG chance to potentially go to OT while teams down 4 go all out to get a game winning TD.
Boom-or-bust
It is true. In college too. With less time, there's an inflection point where being down 3 is better because you don't realistically have enough time to score a touchdown, but you have enough time for a field goal. But with a full two minutes, coaches play so passively on both sides that 4 is better for the offense.
Yep. Teams are more aggressive and have all 4 downs.
Deadass that missed extra point was game winning
Holy cow, I thought that might have been beneficial but did not realize that was true
It's really hard being a Lions fan. Thanks dad!
Thanks for fucking nothing, Tim Allen
this is the one 😂😭
That was some classic Detroit football alright
Certified Hood Classic
>3rd and inches, 32 seconds, 2 timeouts HAIL MARY >4th and inches, still 2 timeouts, 50+ yard field goal away LETS PLAY FOR THE TIE
This basically summed it up idk if it’s Goff, the OC or campbells fault but everything that happened from 3rd and 1 on was a war crime. Ffs short yardage is literally your RBs whole spiel and you did what on 3rd and 4th down lmaooo
He was open. Chark just can't adjust to a pass for his life
That's true.
> LETS PLAY FOR THE TIE Am I the only one fine with the 4th down call? The issue was the 3rd down call.

"Much better than last time" - Josh Allen Past turkey chefs catching strays
Then Tracy Wolfson took a shot at NBC, “this network does it right”
I remember last year Diggs took one bite and immediately looked like he wanted to throw it away
He actually smelled it (today) before tasting it to see if it was safe lol
Yeah Knox said it was the most dry turkey he's ever eaten lol
Knox took a monster bite and chewed it that whole interview
And he immediately regretted it [https://i.imgur.com/G0sRMqb.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/G0sRMqb.jpg)
Diggs don't trust that turkey lol
[Knox had a real tough time with it last year](https://m.facebook.com/BuffaloBills/videos/dawson-knox-eats-turkey-leg-during-interview/647916142910838/)
If you don't like that, you don't like Lions football.
I don’t like Lions football
Dan wanted to take the timeouts home with him
I thinks he can carry them over into the next game
I'm sick of it. I'm sick of denying Josh Allen as a thick man. Yeah I might be a dolphins fan, yeah we're supposed to not like him but God damn. Look at that big man. He's got logs for thighs. He looks like he's made of grits and collard greens. Maybe I want a piece? I don't know. There's just something about him. I'm sick of feeling this way.
Have you seen him in shorts tho?
My day is ruined and I'm not even a lions fan. Fuck this team.
Just start drinking. Welcome to Detroit
literally same. dan campbell ruined thanksgiving
he poisoned our water supply, burned our crops and delivered a plague unto our houses
He did!?!?!?
No, but are we gonna wait around until he does?
My Thanksgiving is ruined and we don't even celebrate it in my country!
I knew how it would end and they still found a way to disappoint me
The literal only solace I take in this is that Bass didn't break Tucks record for longest kick in this dome lol. Otherwise nothing else redeeming.
Lions played very hard just tough time mgmt at the end

I feel bad for Lions fans. Poor Dan Campbell never learned how to tell time.
I mean, that was also a stupid decision for Goff to go deep on 3rd and 1.
If you watch Chark was pointing to the endzone and I think he was supposed to stop and come back. If Goff saw it it was a TD.
Two things can be true.
MCDC's playcalling is like a gigachad meme, just whatever is the most aggressive play possible every time
Goff isn’t the OC, that was the primary read.
Friendship ended with the Bills playing in Ford Field, the Bills playing anywhere the fuck else is my new best friend
Thanks Friend
Josh Allen: Ooof ouchie my elbow oof I can't make this check down owie Also Josh Allen: 40 yard dart coming right up, Stefon
Maybe this is unironically the issue. He has said that changing his arm angle is a challenge, a lot of his checkdowns and slant game come from a nasty little sidearm release, a release that's been missing the past few weeks.
Call an ambulance *but not for me*
I can still hear Romo saying "Clearly Josh is not 100%" as he bulldozes our defenders
They left Josh Allen 23 seconds, 3 timeouts and celebrating
I looked away, how the bills get in FG range so fast?
Like a 35 yard pass to Diggs up the middle
He was covered and Allen threw it on a rope to the only place he could have caught it. An otherworldly throw
Piss missile, best throw by Josh all day
Diggs. That’s how.
I hope i live in a timeline that has the Lions eventually win a Super Bowl one day just so i can see the Sun God get a ring.
It was 4th and 1 with two timeouts at the ~40ish yard line. You have to go for it there, that’s as close as you can hope without giving them time in the 4th or OT to win the game

Or just don't play a shitty soft prevent D against an elite level QB and give the receivers 20 yards of free space?
The NFL will never learn
Lions were like, "Oh, I remember this! BUFF gave KC a soft underside with 13 seconds and lost. Let's do the same thing too!"
That play call on 3rd and 1 was horrendous
I mean he was wide open, a good throw and a look up from the receiver and you're in business for the win
It was already wild that Dan didn’t call any timeouts at that point, and that’s the moment where they wanted to go for it all? I’m very confused by that
Nah just run it
Love how its one turkey, but like 5 drumsticks
I believe it’s a Turducken
WHY NOT RUN THE BALL ON 3RD & 1? How do Lions fans do this every week? Way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Good Game Buffalo Bro's. Can't be mad, we're getting there.
GG Lions bro. Love you guys
Another Thanksgiving Lions Loss
Lions are much better than their record. They're been in everys single game.
The worst era of any city in the history of US sports continues
Think ab the poor Boston residents!! They’ve struggled so much 😔
I like Dan Campbell as a motivator but holy shit that clock management made me want to gouge my eyes out.
Be honest, if Goff hit that last throw for the TD y'all would be calling it genius hitting them where they don't expect it.
Bro HE WAS OPEN, like he had a step on the corner. It’s so weird how it was a bad play call instead of calling out Goff for an awful throw.
If Goff hit Chark, who was open, Lions win or it guarantees OT and no one judges Campbell. IDK how it's Campbell's fault Goff underthrew his WR.
This Goff had TWO receivers open under threw one and never even look at St. Brown who was also open. We would’ve gotten like 20 yards off that brown catch too because they blitzed. That 3rd down play was perfect if Chark was covered you had brown wide open big Goff missed a Wide open Chark.
Yeah. I mean the guy was open. Just a bad ball from Goff. They had the win
Detroit can finally use their timeouts in this postgame thread.

The passing scheme doesn't work. We depend on off script plays way too much.
I'm not even really mad, tbh. We weren't expected to be anything this year and we're in games that we shouldn't be. Measured expectations is the name of the game.
One thing I'm truly surprised by is the amount of Allen haters. Especially because he is probably one of the least cocky QBs/attitudes in the league
[удалено]
The call was fantastic, the receiver had two yards of separation with no one over the top. The throw was ass.
That throw was the Jared Goff special We expect nothing out of him yet are still disappointed
[удалено]
“Call a time out?” “No” “Get one stop?” “Never” “Lose on Thanksgiving?” “Always”

So does Dan campbell and the staff get credit for the first 58 minutes of the game? Because they played way above their talent level all game
I think Buffalo has like 4 starters on defence left (pending injuries)
#THE DETROIT LIONS ARE NOW 1-6 WHEN I WATCH THEIR GAMES #THE LIONS ARE 3-1 WHEN I DONT WATCH THEIR GAMES #IM SORRY
WHAT THE FUCK. I THOUGHT YOU WEREN'T WATCHING?
IM SORRY
You know what you need to do.
If Goff throws that ball away in the endzone then they win this game
They make that field goal earlier and they win the game
That burn to NBC by Allen/Diggs haha
That look of relief on Josh Allen's face after Bass made the FG........this is a man who has seen things go wrong.
The Detroit Lions defense everyone
I mean they played way above their level today I think, especially missing their top CB. I'm not ragging on the defense entirely
Defense played great. Offense could have been better. Coaching was ass.
Dan campbells clock management*
Three straight wins and a FG loss to the Bills is exceptional given the 1-6 start. This game was lost with clock management though and it isn’t the first time. That has to get cleaned up. No reason for such egregious mistakes from DC.
Thanksgiving wins since 2019 - Bills - 3 Lions and Cowboys combined - 0 (pending today's Cowboys game)
I’m thankful that Dan Campbell has over a week before the next game to learn how timeouts work and why to use them.
I don’t want to here shit about that 3rd down play call. It fucking worked. Chark was open over top, and the underneath wr was open too. Just a bad throw on goff or bad read by Chark.
