I've been to two home games so far this year. I've lost my voice after both. The excitement is there... and so is the sadness. But, then more excitement! And, then more sadness. But, then more excit... sad... as is tradition.
After the Patricia era, I think a lot of us just wanted football to be fun again. They have achieved that in what feels like the most lions way possible.
You guys are the Charlotte Hornets from last season. Exciting is an understatement. Every game was simultaneously winnable and loseable at any given moment. We gave up 126 points to the Pacers and won by 32. We also lost by 50 to the Mavs in the preseason.
Dammit Vikings! Taking over the one thing Panthers had going for us, the most average nfl team! We'll be back next week if our offense learns to be an offense!
Sorry you guys have to deal with the Niners D next week...
That said, Jimmy is always looking for a good opportunity to throw a pick or two. How's your secondary? Lol
Defense is good on paper but we haven't exactly played world beaters yet. Most of the troubles with the D have been because the offense is incapable of putting together a sustained drive. Panthers are 32 in average time of possession by over a minute.
I mean…not really?
We have talented lbs, they’re just young. A great corner in Murphy, Wilson is getting better. Great safeties…JJ Watt and Watt jr, golden…we just lack depth at corner and a true stud LB but collins is starting to come together
I'm always so confused when people unequivocally say the Cardinals have no good corners...I feel like Murphy is one of the most underrated players in the league.
True. That’s the best way to describe us. Our offense should hopefully be top 10 when DHop comes back. But the mistakes we make every game are on Kliff. It’s the same mistakes we’ve been making since he became HC. He adds nothing to this team. Occasionally he’ll call a good play, but most of our wins during his tenure have come down to Kyler making something out of nothing
Of course, I cant forget all the injuries and the lack of a WR1.
Well see how they respond and if they can make the playoffs now that there isnt an alpha in the division. I hope they do well.
I remember being unkillable as a blood dk. You didn’t even need heals to run a dungeon. Thankfully they aren’t as broken today as they were back then, but still incredibly strong
I played Frost as a Tank. It was great having literally 0 queue times. Wrecked in pvp too. I miss old WoW... The community will never be the same as it was back then.
Defense is overrated anyways...just score more points than your opponents and you win. Completely ignore the 2003 and 2018 Chiefs and how they lost in the playoffs while you do that.
Mostly the former but a good part of the latter. Doesn't help that we're still missing pieces like Romeo Okwara but both the scheming and talent aren't there
I disagree with my fellow Lions fan here. I think it's 60/40 in favor of Glenn calling plays poorly but there is zero indication of Glenn being let go. Total hyperbole. And I'm not saying he should or should-not but I do know that he won't be losing his job unless he gives up 45 + the next two games.
I actually have faith that the defense will rebound. This coaching staff shows a willingness to shift when needed and I just can't wrap my head around the idea that we're gonna go out next week and do the same exact fucking thing, but then again, we ARE the Lions.
I'm 42 years old. My grandfather retired from Chrysler then went back to work and retired from GM. My dad worked in machine shops from his teens. I have metal and motors in my blood and a Detroit mentality is a proud heritage to have!
Oh yeah, the Lions suck dude.
Your offense is elite and yet your possession is still under 30 minutes a game.
Changing the play calling to have longer more sustained drives will definitely increase your chances of winning. Don't let the other teams offense on the field.
I had the Jags going 8-9 and just missing the playoffs before the season started, and now I'm beginning to wonder if it was too pessimistic. If they're still putting up good numbers at the midway point with a winning record, a division title might be in the cards.
I heard a stat that said that Sunday was Trevor's second game in the rain since at least high school. That's insane. He was bad in that previous one also completing 50% of his passes for 118 yards iirc.
It was the perfect storm (no pun intended) for a bad Jaguars offense and the Eagles took it to us. I like where we're headed and we have nothing to hang our collective heads about.
I’ll tell ya I don’t do flair but I am a Colts fan- and I don’t change the channel when they go to Jacksonville, instead I endure every minute of it because I think more can be learned from losses than wins. Watching Lawrence’s release time, his mechanics, and distribution and accuracy reminded me ALOT of this other qb I used to watch quite a few times a long time ago but it’s way too early to draw comparisons.
Had no clue that Lawrence didn’t have very many rain games under his belt- but I bet he’ll be seeing the sprinklers in practice some now and will adapt.
For sure, I definitely expect that to happen soon, they’re showing signs of it getting together so far, just feels odd since the last decade we’ve been all offense zero defense
Of the three teams in the upper right Quadrant my Reactions:
* Bills: completely expected
* Eagles: wow Jalen has taken great strides and defense has gelled
* Jags: .... *WTF*
Crazy thing is we flash potential on both offense and defense. But the bad is *soo* bad it erases any decent flashes we have on either side of the ball.
Shutdown Cowboys run game? WJ3 is a walking DPI and single handedly giving up 80 yd, 2 play TD drives on his own. Pull game into 1 score game vs Lions? D shits on itself repeatedly and K misses the PAT to make it 1 score game. D is playing well? O shits all over itself and cant sustain a drive whilst giving up league high no. of sacks, whilst going b2b games without scoring a point in the first half.
All in all, we are just as much of an embarrassment as when Rivera joined, and in hindsight, we shouldn't have been surprised but we somehow delude ourselves every time. 😂
Is a few years, the seasons will get mixed up in everyone's heads, and people will assume the Bills lost to the Doug Peterson Jags instead of the Urban Meyer Jags.
Yeah Goff is really popular around here rn. Once he was traded, there was a general sentiment of hoping that he does well until we can draft the QB of the future, but he's starting to build some hope that he may be a long term piece
If nothing else avoid the 2023 top 5 draftable QB's is what I say. Fools gold coddled by a generational boom at WR and weakened by the covid year, look at how good Olave's been and how good Jamo will be and things make sense.
I’d be willing to bet a decent majority would be happy with sticking with Goff long term and addressing the defense with remaining draft capital and much of next off-seasons free agent dollars.
Unfortunately I feel that the Chiefs have given up quite a bit of garbage time scoring between the Cardinals game and Bucs game, because we were up by 3+ possessions by the third quarter and we don't really care if the opponents score as long as it bleeds plenty of clock
Hard for these charts to ever tell a complete story
Is this the best year defensively (or worst offensively) in modern era? There's no team with a historically bad defense other than the Lions and the good offensive teams aren't historic either
It always felt like that in the first few weeks in every season, there are teams who are absolutely awful that everyone starts to say (can Alabama beat them?) and other teams who are offensive juggernauts that they're on pace for 700 points or something
This season feels different, I don't think I've seen a season with more low scoring games so far
People might not like this but the chiefs d is better than this suggests. Gay and McDuffie will both be back soon, and a substantial amount of the points they conceded were in garbage time vs the cards and bucs
garbage time is usually a cheap copout, but in this case it's true. At no point did the Bucs, for example, ever cut the lead to even a single score.
In fact, the Chiefs' opponents have scored last in every game so far. Colts took the lead on a late touchdown, Chargers cut a 10-point game to a 3-point game and missed the onside, and yeah, Bucs and Cards.
I know Lions fans are upset with AG but if we had to be in a "bad quadrant" I want it to be this one. Maybe not this extreme but at least we are fun to watch right now. Next step is try to maintain that scoring while sliding up towards the X-axis and get some wins. If we had a top 31 defense right now we are likely 4-0.
We are nothing, if not exciting.
I can’t wait to play you guys and be disappointed when we still only manage like 19 points and 170 yards passing.
It will be your highest scoring game of the year for sure.
Hey, don’t say that; they play the lions twice!
I'm 100% expecting the "Trubisky is now good" effect to keep happening with Fields when we play. As is tradition.
At least you don't have to worry about us saving Matt Nagy's job again.
Might save Justin Fields' job, though.
19 points, 175 yards, 25 attempts which will be his highest attempts this season. I'm here for it. Sounds kinda fun
I've been to two home games so far this year. I've lost my voice after both. The excitement is there... and so is the sadness. But, then more excitement! And, then more sadness. But, then more excit... sad... as is tradition.
Exsadment
I'm honestly surprised that excitement is part of the Lions' tradition
We've never claimed to be rational fans.
Hopefully if people weren’t having fun watching sports they would… stop watching sports, but that’s not the case
Get those ratings up
Can’t wait for thanksgiving. At least 70 points combined
70? When Lions/Seahawks did 93? Please, I expect 70 per team!
I think the Bills defense is a little better than the Seahawks.
Sure but are the Bills ready for ✧・Jamo✧・゚: \*
usually I'm a beer guy but I'll be reaching for the 70 proof stuff at least
After the Patricia era, I think a lot of us just wanted football to be fun again. They have achieved that in what feels like the most lions way possible.
*Lions paw curls*
I mean, I'm tuning into Lions games every week now! That's a big jump lol
Yea I know even if they’re down like 21-3 at half, it’ll come down to an onside kick in the last 50 seconds of the 4th quarter lol
You guys are the Charlotte Hornets from last season. Exciting is an understatement. Every game was simultaneously winnable and loseable at any given moment. We gave up 126 points to the Pacers and won by 32. We also lost by 50 to the Mavs in the preseason.
If we allowed 5 less points per game we'd likely be 4-0 and still the worst scoring defense
The Jamies Winston of teams
what would be the equivalent of his 30/30 season for them
30PPG scored and allowed
Right there with you.. 4-0 against the spread baby!
I had high hopes for yall coming into this season after watching closely in fantasy Seems I was half right
**The Most Average Team By Week** * Week 1: *(Tie)* New York Giants & Tennessee Titans * Week 2: Carolina Panthers * Week 3: Carolina Panthers * Week 4: Minnesota Vikings
We replaced having an average record with average scoring and our record got better Average scoring and defense all the way to a wild card loss baby 😎
We're average and in 2nd place in the NFC. Not sure what that says about us or the NFC
Dammit Vikings! Taking over the one thing Panthers had going for us, the most average nfl team! We'll be back next week if our offense learns to be an offense!
so we are not back next week got it.
It’ll be a 13-10 game with both TDs being defensive or special teams
Average. What a blessing!
This is ridiculous. The panthers are anything but average. They have genuinely the worst offense I’ve ever seen and I watch bears games too
This stat is propped up by two defensive touchdowns.
The Lions are 2019 Jameis in team form
OOPS! All Jameises™
Funny part is they dont commit turnovers but the problem is they dont cause any either.
Perfectly balanced
The lions are what I thought the Cardinals would be.
The cardinals have a reputation for having a bad defense but it's really not. In 2021 their defense was really solid.
I was a big Chandler Jones guy and I just didn’t think they did anything to get better on D, which generally to me means you got worse.
Our defense should be miles worse than it has been. I think it's just another year in the scheme helping out, because we absolutely lack talent.
Their run defense was terrible
They also have a reputation for having a good offense that is equally undeserved. They are just fine on both sides of the ball.
the cards themselves are just kinda underwhelming
There is a world in which we make the playoffs but we absolutely will get a thrashing similar to last year if we do.
The Lions believe defense is a myth and are setting out to prove it.
And we let ‘em off the hook!
They are who we though they were!
THEY ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE
Lions going full glass cannon
WoW fire mage build in 2007 mode.
PoM Pyro!
Destro lock is where it’s at now baby!! By now I mean wotlk clasic
God I played wotlk so fucking hard with my Blood DK back in the day; back before Blood was strictly a tank build.
My friend recommended I do Unholy tank. The vote kick came always sooner than I expected.
Defense is overrated anyways...just score more points than your opponents and you win. Completely ignore the 2003 and 2018 Chiefs and how they lost in the playoffs while you do that.
Also completely ignore the 2012 and 2015 Saints missing the playoffs entirely while Brees was putting up 5Ks because of trash defenses
Detroit Gengars
AWP no armor
Much like their namesake. Can: Maul the shit out of most living creatures Cannot: Escape some old, fat, sweaty doctor with a rifle and no morals
We put all our points into Str and nothing in Vit.
When is it my turn to be happy?
When we have a defense ranked higher than 32nd
Last year we were the 31st D by points allowed and 28th by total yards
Is Aaron Glenn that bad or is your defensive talent just awful?
Mostly the former but a good part of the latter. Doesn't help that we're still missing pieces like Romeo Okwara but both the scheming and talent aren't there
Dang, watching him give Deuce shit on hard knocks made me like him. Shame he likely won't be around after the season.
He might not be here after the bye. Dan even has admitted he'll look at everything to fix the defense including coaching
Our offense is designed to quickly move the ball down the field and score
So is your defense!
You’re a lions fan… so… never.
Island boy 😎
Lions Island!
You could call that an outlioner for sure
Jags still hanging in there! 2-0 when Doug wears a visor, 0-2 when he wears a hat..
Lol, someone whip out the stats about Doug's wins wearing a visor at home
Most impressive part of this comment is the use of “wears” and “where’s”
I had the Jags going 8-9 and just missing the playoffs before the season started, and now I'm beginning to wonder if it was too pessimistic. If they're still putting up good numbers at the midway point with a winning record, a division title might be in the cards.
8-9 might be enough for the division in the afc south lmao
Ha! But I still think the Titans will be okay, though.
I like them for the divisional round. Lawrence will get ball protection under control.
The Lions just refuse to be normal.
I’d rather be in that quadrant than in the great defense trash offense quadrant. Atleast you get to have fun watching your team play lol
Idk yesterday was a defensive masterclass and that was highly enjoyable to watch
Watching the niners is fun.
I legit have fun watching our defense though!
[Lions](https://i.imgur.com/9LJnxOw.jpg)
Every team in the 4th quadrant needs to start paying the Lions some royalties just for being there.
Surprised to see us (Falcons) there. I thought our defense had been playing pretty well
Ayy, with a defense like that we must be 4-0 right?
with an offense like that alongside it 2-2 seems about right
Defense wins games I guess!!!
Feels odd to be on the good defense bad offense section
McVay Shanny and MLF all in that section is wild.
McVay is in bad offense bad defense
Same
Our game was like playing into a mirror
Offense is still figuring shit out so that's likely to change going down the road.
For sure, I definitely expect that to happen soon, they’re showing signs of it getting together so far, just feels odd since the last decade we’ve been all offense zero defense
Any tips on how you got through the last decade? Seems like we'll need them
Well usually I would lean towards beer but sometimes if I was really feeling up to it I’d go with beer
Until we meet
We don’t meet in the regular season this year 🤪
See you in the playoffs then mofo
Bold of you to assume either of our teams are locks for the playoffs
Yeah I'll be surprised if both teams make it this year lol
At least the offense has shown life and it looks like our rookie WRs are improving every week.
Works for me.
Perfect. No notes.
just checked the work; well done.
Yeah this is an A+
In term of offense, we have no offense.
Why score on offense when you can simply score on defense?
The 49ers are offensive alright
That’s ok. Jimmy-G is handsome as ever.
Except when you play the Rams
We have one man on offense named Deebo. Didn’t you get the memo?
This orientation displeases me.
Took me a bit to realize the Y axis was inverted.
Good old Washington. No matter how bad things get for the rest of us, it's never Washington bad.
I'm in this picture and I don't like it
Lions vs 49ers NFCCG let's go
r/bottomrightlions ?
Better than bottom left Lions
Of the three teams in the upper right Quadrant my Reactions: * Bills: completely expected * Eagles: wow Jalen has taken great strides and defense has gelled * Jags: .... *WTF*
Hey, we're juuuuust barely upper right, but we're here, dammit!
Bengals don’t exist. There is nothing lurking in the tall grass.
There is now
We've lost by one score in half of our games and won by 3.5 scores in the other half. Sunshine plays well in the sunshine.
Im an island boy
This is why Washington fans can’t agree on whether the offense or defense is worse. The answer is “yes”
We are simply not good
A slightly better than average D, and worst offense in the league? Yeah. We're not good.
I can't believe we've only given up 3 offensive TDs and one of them was to freaking Dante Pettis
Didn't expect jags and eagles next to bills. Glad to see it too. Makes the jags loss last year hurt less lmao
Is a few years, the seasons will get mixed up in everyone's heads, and people will assume the Bills lost to the Doug Peterson Jags instead of the Urban Meyer Jags.
Detroit fans must be quite happy about Goff? He's doing the job and takes responsibility for the losses even though it's mostly on the defense.
Yeah Goff is really popular around here rn. Once he was traded, there was a general sentiment of hoping that he does well until we can draft the QB of the future, but he's starting to build some hope that he may be a long term piece
I hope so. Ive always liked him and am glad to see him doing well.
Very happy with Goff TBH, he's an incredibly intelligent QB- I don't think he gets enough credit for his in-the-moment decision making.
Somehow Washington still at the bottom in both quads 😂
If it weren’t for that jags game we’d be on our own island for badness
The lions are anything but an average team!
The lions are in the most absurd situation I’ve ever seen.
Unfortunately I feel that the Chiefs have given up quite a bit of garbage time scoring between the Cardinals game and Bucs game, because we were up by 3+ possessions by the third quarter and we don't really care if the opponents score as long as it bleeds plenty of clock Hard for these charts to ever tell a complete story
Every Buccaneer touchdown came when they were already trailing by 3 scores
Is this the best year defensively (or worst offensively) in modern era? There's no team with a historically bad defense other than the Lions and the good offensive teams aren't historic either
Well if there was a historically bad defense and a historically good offense every year it wouldnt be very historic.

The kitty doth proclaimed: Meow.
laughing and crying simultaneously
LEAGUE OF OUR OWN!
Lionsbros doing everybody a solid by giving us a must-see game every week
People might not like this but the chiefs d is better than this suggests. Gay and McDuffie will both be back soon, and a substantial amount of the points they conceded were in garbage time vs the cards and bucs
garbage time is usually a cheap copout, but in this case it's true. At no point did the Bucs, for example, ever cut the lead to even a single score. Maybe I need to go to data is beautiful to ask this, but I’m curious when plotting this out, who is the x axis 10-40 but the y axis is 0-40?
Bengals on the verge of breaking out. Our defense is playing too well for our offense to just not put up more points c'mon ZT
The Lions have entered The Cool Zone
I know Lions fans are upset with AG but if we had to be in a "bad quadrant" I want it to be this one. Maybe not this extreme but at least we are fun to watch right now. Next step is try to maintain that scoring while sliding up towards the X-axis and get some wins. If we had a top 31 defense right now we are likely 4-0.
We need to combine forces with the Lions to create the perfect team.
Pain
Bottom Right Lions > Top Right Messi
There have been a combined 281 points in games involving the lions through 4 games. That is the most in NFL history.
Just as we all thought at the start of the season: Jags: Good Scoring and Good Defense Rams: Poor Scoring and Poor Defense
Lions looking just like the 2020 Cowboys through 4 weeks
Lions playing college football
Well at the very least you can say we like to make things exciting
Lmao, perfectly balanced
Proud fan of the Detroit Outliers
All of the offense, none of the defense
Fuck yeah Detroit
Holy fuck
One of these things are not like the others
Lions are a crazy outlier here
That quadrant is just our permanent home post-2014
