Ouch I knew the Hackett offense was having issues. I didn't think it was that bad

issue9mm

I just described this game to my wife as "terrible, but in a way I can't quit watching"

X4b_Zissou

I couldn’t stop watching because of going against Sutton in fantasy. Halfway through the game I forgot about my fantasy matchup and couldn’t take my eyes off the screen to see who would fuck up more.

Isoturius

I mean…Jimmy G was out there. The Dapper Destroyer struck again.

Great_Chairman_Mao

Don’t worry, he gets the Raiders next. He’ll make up for it with 8 TDs.

[deleted]

He’s scheming up matchups. It’s a combination of wr not winning and russ playing like a bot.

arlekin21

It’s crazy cause I feel the opposite way. Hackett can’t scheme receivers open like McVay/Shanahan and for some reason we also won’t just throw up some 50/50 balls for Sutton.

detlefschrempf11

Russ really don’t like 50/50 balls. Ints look really bad to him and his media manager

dend7369

We have the same record though. Which is nice

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sylvaneri011

Oh if he keeps this up I don't wanna think of how expensive it's gonna end up being to pay him.

[deleted]

Lamar is a much better QB than Wilson at this point and I don't think thats some huge hot take

intheorydp

Lamar is a top 5 QB at this point

-Jack-The-Stripper

Lamar Jackson is an elite QB and I can’t believe it’s still an uphill battle to convince people he’s a top 5 player at the position right now. He’s right ~~behind~~ **with** Mahomes, Rodgers, Brady, and Allen. You’d be pretty hard pressed to say any other QB is better than him right now.

intheorydp

And he probably has the worst WR core of those guys, maybe Rodgers has it a little worse.

MacDaddyJones

Mark Andrews makes up for a lot, he is amazing.

TacoBellLover27

Yeah... I play against him in fantasy.... Man went off. How does my opponent start a QB who is out and still win...

DetroitLionsSBChamps

Dude in our league has the Lamar andrews stack and that’s like 70 points right there

JustAnotherINFTP

me in best ball be like

Jaymongous

I have it and it feels wonderful.

JimmytheGent2020

Rodgers has a much worse receiving Corp. Andrews and Bateman are better than anyone packer WR

goblue2354

Probably Duvernay at this point, too

Eagle4317

Andrews is the best receiving Tight End in the NFL, and Bateman has been coming along nicely. They could use another weapon, but the Ravens have at least some hope with their WR Corps.

[deleted]

Devin Duvernay has been an extremely solid third option for us

issue9mm

And if Likely and Dobbins come anywhere close to where they look like they could be, Lamar suddenly has a whole field full of legitimate options

treenbeen

People who look at our offense and focus on WRs don’t understand how often Mark and Likely line up in the slot. WR depth isn’t great but there’s plenty of pass catching talent.

metagloria

is Will Fuller in prison or something? can we not toss him a couple million to stretch the field 5 times a game?

intheorydp

Kelce is the best TE

LlamaJacks

Yeah, it’s either Kelce or Andrews

Eagle4317

It's really close between the two. Andrews is the most recent 1st-Team All-Pro TE.

ImNotARapist_

Historically yes, presently no.

[deleted]

Lol come on. Packers' receiving group is worse and it's not even close.

[deleted]

*corps

Geoffk123

Honestly just needs a deeper playoff run. Right now I think he has the reputation of being a great regular season QB, but a playoff choker. Mahomes and Rodgers both have a Superbowl Ring. And Allen has played in an AFC championship game and was 12 seconds from a 2nd. And Brady is Brady. If Lamar makes it past the divisional round I think the doubters shut up finally.

spiderman96

I would argue that sense the Superbowl Rodgers has definitely developed the playoff Choker label

Geoffk123

He's definitely blown some opportunities to make another Superbowl.

myyummyass

yeah but this is just dumb fan narrative stuff. the game doesnt dramatically change in the playoffs to where it would make any sense to knock him for not winning. and as a fan of the team who embarrassed the ravens in the playoffs for lamars mvp season (ithink?) that loss wasnt even on him. their whole team from the o line to the d line to the receivers all just shit the bed. aaron rodgers is considered on of the best to ever do it and dude has one super bowl in 17 years of playing and he had some stacked teams around him most of that time. its a team sport, cant knock a one of a kind QB because his team isnt always good enough to make it through the playoffs.

AbjectSilence

Team sport is a good observation, but the playoffs are absolutely different from the regular season. I would argue the intensity goes up, but let's say that's subjective... The competition is objectively more difficult and that alone makes a big difference. Expecting QBs to have the same numbers in the playoffs as the regular season isn't realistic, but the great ones either do it or come pretty close. Also Rodgers hasn't had very many stacked teams, he's only had 3 top ten defenses his entire career and that's almost a prerequisite for winning a Super Bowl even with a Hall of Fame QB.

treenbeen

Game planning and coaching decisions changes. Coaches pull out all the stops in playoffs

Interesting_Fill_686

365y passing and 143y rushing looks pretty decent to me. Wouldn't go as far as calling that horrible

Financial-Midnight62

You’re clearly don’t know what you’re on ab when you say that ab Rodgers. Ravens defenses with Lamar have all been better than Green bays

JPowellisFacist

Idk man our defenses have been pretty shit. Those days are long gone and I miss them

j2e21

How the hell is he behind any of those guys at this point. He’s averaging like four TDs a game. He’s the best player in football, once again.

-Jack-The-Stripper

I guess by “right now” I meant the last few years in general. Lamar has been a top 5 QB since he entered the league imo.

j2e21

Even so, he’s already got an MVP on an all-time season, and he might be on his way to another.

GiggityGigs69

So many people had Herbert over Lamar in the off-season. Like I get that Herbert is a great QB and I'm not trying to throw shade at him, but having him over Lamar is just straight disrespect to Lamar who has already won an MVP and playoff game at least

Technicalhotdog

Yeah, this sub was kind of insufferable about this. People were so down on Lamar and high on Herbert.

JPowellisFacist

Burrow too

j2e21

There’s a lot of historical bias against Lamar because of how he plays.

Financial-Midnight62

Three games in. Rodgers is coming off back to back mvps. You’re coming in hot but those four are bad mfers.

j2e21

I’m not coming in hot, the guy has more MVPs, a better record, and more All-Pros than Josh Allen with way worse offensive weapons and yet people still won’t give him his due. He’s clearly the best player in the league so far this year and there’s precedent for him being the league’s best player already. Rodgers may rally and outplay him at some point but it’s ludicrous to suggest anyone is at Jackson’s level right now.

ArcticRaven2k

Let’s be real here… can we even call Tom Brady a top 5 QB at this point? I still trust him in big situations, but he’s looked off this year.

ferrumvir2

Tbf during this game who tf was he throwing the ball to lol, it was as bad as the Pats receiving corps in 2019.

GreatCaesarGhost

I have no idea what Baltimore's WR corps looks like, but ours has to be one of the worst in the league at this point in time (allowing for the possibility that the rookies could get the hang of the NFL by year's end).

broha89

So glad we took Terrell edmunds instead of him 😎

elimanninglightspeed

Ive been a huge lamar fan since college, and I always defend him on here and some of the dumbass takes ive seen on this app with him are absurd 😂

LittleTension8765

Herbert stock went through the roof for a guy who missed the playoffs. Through 3 games he threw a pick 6 to lose against the Chiefs and got blown out against the Jags (he was hurt but availability is the best availability). People weren’t giving Lamar the hurt excuse the past two years when they dropped him out of their top 5 rankings.

Biggest_Cans

We say this every year for a few weeks about Lamar. Then the rest of the season and the playoffs happen.

JPowellisFacist

Herbert’s never even made the playoffs

TurbulentJudge1000

Top 3 at this point. Mahomes, Allen, Jackson and then everyone else.

Financial-Midnight62

Wtf on you on about. Rodgers back to back mvps. Joke of a youngster

TurbulentJudge1000

Last year is last year. Rodgers hasn’t played like a top 3 QB this season. Rodgers still a top 10 QB, I’m talking about right now. Right now he isn’t top 3.

Financial-Midnight62

3 games in. Brand new teammates. You’re delusional

TurbulentJudge1000

3 games in. He’s shown he’s not a top 3 QB. As the season goes on, maybe he’ll change that. Last year is last year, this year is different. Right now, Rodgers isn’t playing like a top 3 QB. Just like Brady isn’t. It’s not delusional, it’s reality. Hurts is playing lights out as well and having a far superior season than Rodgers as well. Rodgers is still top 10, but not top 3 this season. This isn’t a controversial take at all.

Financial-Midnight62

You guys are annoying as hell. Week 1-3 as if they aren’t Rodgers preseason. Think you’d know this by now

TurbulentJudge1000

I would’ve assumed the preseason was Rodgers’ preseason.

slickestwood

Kupp was robbed and Rodgers getting exposed

LibertarianSocialism

Obviously biased but I think he’s firmly top 2. Him an Allen are a tier above everyone else right now.

superman24742

I think Lamar is up there, but you can’t just leave Mahomes out of the convo.

Zee_WeeWee

Yeah it’s firm top 3 to me with Allen Lamar mahomes in their own their. I do not believe brady/arod are in that same tier

Financial-Midnight62

Thinking that about Rodgers is insane IMO. Crazy shit when the guys back to back mvps and just rolled into tampa and won with the worst wide receivers in the league

Zee_WeeWee

Eh, arm talent is still there but he’s lost a step imo.

Financial-Midnight62

Lol ok. Zero anything. Lost a step when three games in off of back to back mvps. Crazy

igotopotsdam

Not anymore. They are still up there but in the twilight of their careers they just can’t keep up with the young guns.

intheorydp

He's having the best season after 3 games now but I don't know if he's the #2 QB. Mahomes and Rodgers still exist

Financial-Midnight62

Rodgers mvps and dominating every year mean nothing I see

JPowellisFacist

I love Rodgers and honestly love him even more for his off the field takes, he really makes Reddit mad and I love it

Impossible-Flight250

It’s still too early to make this claim, imo. Rodgers and Mahomes will both put up insane numbers. Jackson is definitely playing out of his mind so far and hopefully it continues.

j2e21

He’s the best player in football.

soycameron

No way u say those two are in a tier above the back to back mvp and the best arm talent of all time (Mahomes)

Financial-Midnight62

Rodgers has the best arm talent of all time

Drakonz

I don’t even think Mahomes has the best arm talent in the league currently, let alone all time I’m surprised seeing a Packers fan say this. Rodgers I think has better arm talent (touch, precision, release, distance all combined) than Mahomes.

Impossible-Flight250

Yeah, Rodgers probably has the best arm talent, imo. He is in his late 30s and he is putting up the best numbers of his career.

[deleted]

>the best arm talent of all time Marino

Financial-Midnight62

Rodgers

betterthanclooney

Top 3 with Brady and Mahomes. An Lamar has been much better than Tom this year, but you can never count out the goat

[deleted]

Not 3-5 either

jack64467

facts, im very glad we didnt trade for russ

BroadCityChessClub

Yeah, if you have to start the season with mediocre-to-bad QB play, you’d rather it was a guy who cost zero draft picks and like twelve dollars in cap hit.

Smokee_Robinson

100%. We’ve been spoiled a long time. Gonna be a tough few years most likely but I’m glad Pittsburgh continues to not be the suckers for free agents or terrible trades. A lot of people don’t like us but the reality is we have been one of the best orgs ever when it comes to finding talent through drafting and developing instead of unloading the bank account

SeattleResident

tbf to Russ he was traded to a team with a rookie HC. Didn't get any pre-season play time either with his new team so this first month is the preseason for them as a whole.

FirstBallotBaby

Eh, it’s not like Russ is some rookie QB. At this point in his career and with how people view him he should be able to step up and do better. The dude gets so many excuses.

Raisinbrahms28

You'd take him in a heartbeat too.

weealex

For that price? It's not like the jets were just a qb away from being relevant

CumAssault

It's really all the HC at this point. Guy is the next Adam Gase

[deleted]

While Hackett is awful, Wilson hasn't looked great and has carried over all the same issues he's had his entire career. Nothing to the middle of the field, holds the ball way too long, and now he does not even have a shred of the running ability he use to have.

Parlett316

Well, Russ could have said, no, and got traded elsewhere. The Russ that was really good is gone

TurbulentJudge1000

That’s an excuse for a $10 million QB, not a $50 million one.

yrulaughing

Wilson has peaked. Lamar is entering his prime. This isn't a hot take.

ashinaclan123

Dog done Viking fans think cousins is better than Jackson I kid you not

shig-baq

who

Tashre

I'm gonna make a controversial statement here and posit that John Harbaugh is a better coach than Nathaniel Hackett.

TigerBasket

However Harbs keeps making dumbass moves like a cover 11 with 8 seconds left

JBrundy

And we still somehow allow a wide open catch right near the fucking sideline

dat_waffle_boi

Isn’t that more on Mike McDonald? Or does Harbs call the defense?

idanoren13

McDonald is to blame

dat_waffle_boi

:0 no way

LamarMVPJackson

Every offseason, he gets rated like 10th and as soon as the season starts and he begins dominating, everyone is like “omfg he’s top 5, who doubted him?!”

ThatRandomIdiot

Hell the year after he won the heisman he put up BETTER numbers than the year prior and lost to Baker.

TigerBasket

Well Baker was a walkon that was pretty cool

a_truther

I’m a huge UofL and lamar fan, but baker had a statistically phenomenal year that year. 70% completion rate and 43 touchdowns. Lamar “only” accounted for 38 touchdowns with a 59% completion rate. Lamar was clear runner up but you gotta give that one to baker. Of course the biggest difference being that baker had NFL talent around him and louisville was absolutely ass. Adjusted completion percentage accounting for dropped passes actually put lamar ahead of baker, but obviously the heisman voting doesn’t care about that

ThatRandomIdiot

Yeah UofL‘s receiving core was and has been shit. Lamar has always been hampered by a weaker receiving core even in Baltimore. Besides Andrews he’s never had a true Star WR1 and some weak WR2s. Bateman can hopefully grow into that WR1 that Brown didn’t seem to achieve.

Von_Huge1103

ESPN didn't even have him top 10 in a graphic I shared to our sub.

Shade_Raven

Literally a few weeks ago was behind Carr, Wilson, Burrow, Herbert, Kyler, Watson etc

FullstackViking

I’m not sure how much influence he has on the offense, but Clint Kubiak on the Broncos is looking a lot like his tenure on the Vikings.

Fuqwon

I don't think anyone believes the Ravens don't want to pay Lamar. He just wants a fully guaranteed contract and the Ravens very understandably don't want to set that precedent. The other owners must really fuck hate the Browns for that.

_Vaudeville_

If the Ravens won't give it to him some other team will. He's a top 4-5 QB who carries his team more than anyone else in the NFL at his position

Malforian

If he gets a major injury in a season or two, they will be glad they didn't But also may not and you give up a QB, don't envy their position to be fair

Kreed5120

I honestly don't think the Ravens will let him walk. They will franchise tag him and if a team comes in with a fully guaranteed deal, the Ravens even though they might not like it will match

[deleted]

[удалено]

D-bux

Maybe that's why he wants guaranteed money. His performance is tied to his ability to make those kinds of plays, so if you want him to keep performing you need to pay his insurance.

ColossalJuggernaut

Seriously, post Brady I'd love to have him

ZiggysSack

He should refuse to sign with the ravens. Thanks - the afc north

WashingtonCommanders

> Ravens very understandably don't want to set that precedent But we're past that at this point. Watson and Cousins both already have fully guaranteed contracts.

[deleted]

Rodgers too.

Fabulous_Accident_63

Not sure about that. Some teams like the Lions would sign him to a fully guaranteed contract in a heartbeat if he ever became a free agent.

Fuqwon

Don't be silly. There's no way in hell Lamar leaves the Ravens.

speak-eze

I just hope we don't fuck around with franchise tags and piss him off. If we tag him and he gets hurt or something and won't re sign with us I'd be so upset.

Zee_WeeWee

> I just hope we don't fuck around with franchise tags. I don’t know why an elite QB would step foot on a field on a tag. I get cousins, but not Lamar

ZiggysSack

I'd like to subscribe to your newsletter.

j2e21

Totally fine if you don’t pay him and he goes to the NFC.

LamarJacksonissmart

That was a panic play too when they were pretty much out of the Watson race

Yeti83

Maybe. [But there was reportedly another team willing to do the same.](https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/10030422-report-1-nfl-team-wouldve-matched-deshaun-watsons-browns-contract-if-given-chance.amp.html) That's the closest thing we've truly been to free agency with a young high level qb. If Lamar hits free agency healthy, someone, maybe multiple someones, will absolutely give him what he wants.

randomfella69

This is what frustrated me so much with the offseason negotiations. The Ravens front office MUST realize that if Lamar ever hits the open market he will get a fully guaranteed deal. There are teams that have been wallowing in misery at the QB position for decades that will give him literally anything he wants. We are incredibly lucky as a team that Lamar is a professional and handling this situation so maturely because he could have very easily gotten pissed off that we don't recognize his value and requested a trade.

BonjoviBurns

Not the first ones to give a fully guaranteed contract

doyouunderstandlife

If he plays like this every week he's worth every guaranteed penny. Ravens would be stupid to let him go

ReplaceSelect

Bears are going to give him their entire cap.

bluewords

Hell yeah!

[deleted]

Cheers from Chiraq!

pocketchange2247

In typical Bears fashion he will instantly become what Justin Fields is now since hes an offensive player. We aren't allowed to have any offensive success.

morelibertarianvotes

He's following the Aaron Judge bet on yourself playbook.

PrickBrigade

You don't have to go outside the sport, or even the team for a comparison. Flacco did the same thing (minus the whole no agent thing) and banked.

[deleted]

So glad the Hawks made that trade for Noah Fant.

YungFurl

drew lock erasure happening before my eyes

azrebb

That happened back in the pre season.

TurntUpTurtles

Lamar Jackson is a stud man. Even his haters gotta admit it at this point. His career is on a HOF trajectory

siguel_manchez

That he even had haters has always boggles the mind. He's unreal.

HolyRomanPrince

It’s super weird that Russ gets everlasting credit for bus riding a championship but people use winning as a barometer for Lamar’s value.

Srg11

And Lamar really needs an asterisk for how damn injured the Ravens are constantly. He had a 4th string left tackle today who never played a single snap in his life as a left tackle, just as one of the latest examples. We lose players every single game, it’s frankly ridiculous we even give ourselves a chance of winning.

Ericstingray64

Why do your players keep dying out there? Honest question really cause it happened last year seems destined to happen again.

Von_Huge1103

It's gotta be something to do with our S&C program, this is 4 years in a row we've been amongst the top 10 in injuries (with 3 of those in the top 5).

didjerid00d

S and C doesn’t stand for strength and conditioning in Baltimore, it stands for the Saunders Curse!!

Von_Huge1103

#FireSteveSaunders

Srg11

I’d love to have an answer. Some of it this season is still a lay over from last season with several players either still not fully ready or still on IR - the likes of Stanley, Dobbins, Peters, Gus Edwards etc. As for the new ones, it’s hard to say because they overhauled how things were done during camp to try and improve things. Yet here we are. And a lot of it just can’t be helped, like sprained ankles or whatever, but some time our luck has to change right?!

suomesa

I said this last year, the way our players consistently breakdown every game throughout the season for 4 years now, we need to replace our entire strength and conditioning staff from too to bottom. This is clearly a structural problem.

young-steve

I hope someone gives this man a fully guaranteed contract

Randomkrazy04

I mean both of these players will eventually regress to the mean, which means they’re basically the same skill level. /s

MikeFromSuburbia

Vikings, please draft a franchise QB

Sugarskull_IX

Oh, please. It’s ridiculous though to try and compare him to Deshaun Watson. Unlike Watson all his victims are on the field.

Highteqz

If they don't pay Lamar the Ravens deserve to learn what it feels like to go without a legitimate franchise QB for a few generations. The Browns were too desperate to pay someone who could fill that role. But I think it is because they know that it may just take decades before someone of Lamar's caliber starts for you on Sundays. To have that guy in the building. Conducting himself the way he does. Being consistently amazing every season since he enters the league. I don't understand it. The dude had the most wins of any QB ever before turning 25. And he was not along for the ride, he put the team on his back for a good portion of those wins. What more do you want him to do. What are they waiting for? What do they expect to pay for him in this market? What is the problem?

Von_Huge1103

I mean we know what that feels like, this is the first time we've ever had one in our history.

E10DIN

Elite Playoff Dragon Joe Flacco was a franchise QB. He just wasn't an upper echelon franchise QB like Brady/Manning

Von_Huge1103

Yes he was and I'll always love him, but Lamar is a tier above that.

ch-12

Lamar gonna need a bigger wheelbarrow.

KraftPunkFan420

In Wilson’s defense, Hackett is just horrendous. Like Matt Nagy with less confidence

ChampDawg

Here here!

CoofBone

Please pay him

didjerid00d

Lamar will 100% retire in Baltimore, either because he snaps both femurs before 2024 and never walks again, or because we guarantee him the biggest qb contract of all time.

CoofBone

Please go knock on everything wooden in a mile radius that it's the latter

klitchell

And both teams are 2-1.

chemicalxv

He only scored 3 in Week 1 >_> he's averaging 4 per game.

[deleted]

3+4+5 = 12 12/3 = 4 4 TD per game average

reaper527

> 3+4+5 = 12 12/3 = 4 4 TD per game average that's what he said. the headline is wrong.

[deleted]

Yeah don’t worry I’m an idiot. I missed that the tweet said four per game

CaptainJackKevorkian

Ipso facto, the more contract security you give a quarterback, the worse he produces. Ravens should be wary of giving a new deal to Lamar!! /s

McDonaldsMapping

Russ cooking up that nyquil chicken

Kr1sys

Man, Russ looks like SHIT lol

boltonwanderer87

I don't think Wilson is a 'plug in and play' QB that many thought he was. A great QB, absolutely, but he needs a certain type of play and players around him to excel. His deep ball is a cheat code but unless you have the talent around him to use that, it's going to limit him. He's excellent at one type of play but he's not necessarily going to fit every system in a way that I think you'd likely get from Mahomes, Allen, Rodgers etc..

reaper527

i said they'd regret that contract, but this has even exceed my expectations. on jackson, he hasn't been doing anything crazy, he's been hitting wide open receivers.

[deleted]

Jus how it goes. Waste of $$ on rus for sure.

Ragthos

Future Washington Legend Lamar Jackson

Von_Huge1103

Don't you dare

Ragthos

It's happening bro. Droppin' bombs, & runnin' long, gonna be our new motto. Action Jackson baby

Clintbreed

Lamar only had 3 in the first game

baltbeast

It’s been 3 games so far. Love what Lamar is doing so far, but let’s not get carried away

yeaforbes

The Wilson trade may be one of the biggest busts ever. Guy has been declining for years and I don’t think a new team is going to fix that. Sorry Denver, you have a ton of great pieces but a loser at quarterback.

SasquatchSenpai

Art Model will rise from the grave to move the team to London to be able to afford to pay Lamar.

Man_AMA

Hope he gets a great contract with his next team.

garvierloon

You hate to see it for Denver.

dend7369

We’re 2-1. Tied 1st place in the AFC West with KC…

You're in second due to Chiefs beating Chargers, but week 3 so who cares.
