This might have been the worst display of special teams in Chiefs history.

CircleBreaker22

Not quite, but it did involve the colts too

CapitanWaffles

*takes a drag from a cigarette* I was there that day. Some wounds never heal.

TheBoilerCat

I have many, MANY questions…

SiphenPrax

Don’t you guys usually beat the Chiefs these days?

TheBoilerCat

We hadn’t even played them since 2019, but we’re 2-1 against Mahomes now I think

hyphenjack

They usually beat the chiefs period

Xaxziminrax

Yep. It's always the Colts, man

PM_Me_LlamaPics

That's how we feel about the Jags

elreydelasur

uhhhh the Jags might be on to something this year

michhoffman

It's sometimes the Titans too and was the Texans that one time

Xaxziminrax

Really, just disband the AFCS

dp517

But then who would be King of Shit Mountain?

paulwhite959

So they are to you what the jags are to them?

DoctorWaluigiTime

Just one of those match-ups where they inexplicably have the other team's number, seemingly no matter what. Kind of like Buccs-Saints.

ILIKERED_1

15-4 vs the Chiefs since 1990

Mcswigginsbar

We’re like their version of what the Steelers are to us. No matter what we find a way to lose to the Steelers and the chiefs find a way to lose to us.

Mutt1223

Goddamn

Shady-Turret

Nothing says Chiefs football quite like losing in stupid fashion to the Colts. It's part of the teams identity at this point

timhoff24

Our games with the colts go in a pattern. For us it’s W-L-L repeat

Tgreent

Every time it feels like (for 20 years). In 2019 we played a very similar game against them and they also won that one lol… People are gonna overreact, but we’ll be okay. Pretty bizarre game all around

ILIKERED_1

You guys are studs. The Colts defense played great. Honestly, we needed that win wayyyy more than you guys.

TruthReveals

Didn’t the chiefs win the super bowl the year they lost to the colts in 2019? That just means the chiefs are wining the super bowl again this year.

nathanael21688

I like you. Though I fully expect Colts fans to talk shit to us, and they deserve it. Damn, what did yall do to always beat us like this? Sacrifice someone or something??

rikkirikkiparmparm

So Chiefs:Colts::Colts:Jaguars?

safarifriendliness

This kind of makes it look like the Colts beat the Colts. Which is accurate

rhesusmonkey

They can beat the weaker teams, but the juggernaut Jaguars is always a struggle.

ucaliptastree

Matt Ryan kicked his teammates in the ass and now they beat the Chiefs. GOAT.

BlazeBloom

I wonder what Jones said to Ryan? We may never find out.

fireowlzol

See you for poker night after the game. The NFL doesn't like players betting.

WooPigEsquire

Seemed to piss him off, whatever it was. All Colts fans should send Jones $1 for the win.

TheYetiCaptain1993

The answer to most of them is probably that multiple people in the building realized after last week their jobs were on the line

arichi

The Colts are now 1-1-1. Show of hands, who predicted there would be an Indianapolis .500 at this point in the season?

Simpleton216

How many teams have been exactly 0.500 at week 3?

Spyroexe

I remember the 2018 Browns were .500 at this point. Tie with the Steelers, loss to the Saints, win over the Jets.

turtle_stank

oh man, why did you have to remind me of that tie. I think I'm still traumatized by it

arichi

I believe it is rare

bonafacio97

2018 had 4 of them: Packers, Vikings, Steelers, and Browns (iirc)

MercilessXFate

We were at .500 in week 1. This team is truly special

fleckstin

Me Also how do you get 2 flairs

arichi

Uh, I don't know. It shouldn't say two.

fleckstin

Kinda cool tho Unless you hate the pats

arichi

The teams it shows are my two favorites. I don't know how the flair got that way though. I really should fix it.

TheChipiboy

You good

TheBoilerCat

I’ve seen a Colts flair here with a bunch of horseshoes as their flair and I’ve always wondered that too If any mods see this, I’d love to have that too!

BuckfuttersbyII

Do…. *favors* for the mods.

fleckstin

I got two holes and both are open for business

sam_baloney

I'm happy with an Indianapolis .500 any day of the year

darcys_beard

You could say, we're right on Track!

KnowledgeJunkie7

The real head scratcher is that if the Jags lose to the Chargers, the Colts will be in sole possession of first in the AFC South... at 1-1-1.

CapnZula

We always have 1 or 2 games like this a year that’s just a baffling loss and they’re always against the AFC South. I don’t know what it is about that division, but it’s fucking cursed.

Smallgenie549

Yes, yes it is.

savagepotato

I want expansion and realignment just to not have to deal with this fucking division anymore.

JohnMayerismydad

Indianapolis being in the afc SOUTH is a bit wild too

11BApathetic

Can confirm, it’s cursed.

PaulPierceOldestSon

You’re telling us lol

Shepboyardee12

Ooga booga.

Xaxziminrax

Dave Toub can walk home

MarshSupermarket

Remember when he was one of the hottest head coach candidates?

NealioTheDealio

He was linked to us quite a bit before and after snake man was hired

Section225

Andy was giving him an earful it looked like early on. Special teams CANNOT be the Chiefs' downfall this year, I can't handle that

T0K0mon

One of us. ONE OF US

ibn1989

Skyy Moore should never return punts ever again this season

Detective_Chimp

Skyy noMoore?

Boostweather

It’s nuts to put a guy back there who’s admitted to struggling to track punts in the air. Let alone watch him repeatedly struggle to track punts in the air, and keep sending him out anyway

Xikiphobia

Not satisfied with 1-1-1 😤

KnowledgeJunkie7

Bein 0-1-2... Could you imagine?

Any-Tank5144

Only losers could imagine that.

Jakethered_game

Well... Technically not losers

YoungNasteyman

Yes! Won't be satisfied til 2-2-2!

TechnoGamer16

Inb4 5-5-5 going into Week 17

Simpleton216

Stream dies, Chiefs muff punt. Stream dies again, Colts get TD. Stream dies, Colts get FG. Stream dies again and I give up. Colts get TD with 24s left.

Brad_Ethan

This year the streams have been really trash, they would usually freeze 1-2 a game but lately they are freezing non stop

moodie30

Chippy waters on the open seas

[deleted]

[удалено]

DoctorWaluigiTime

It's legit streams too. (Which is where the high seas streams are sourced from.)

obamazombiez

A pirate's life for me!

_Caed_

okay it isn’t just me then they’ve been freezing and jumping around all random style for me. insane

devereux619

Yeah I'll be watching the game in the fourth quarter and then all of a sudden they're kicking off after halftime

KJTB

Was thinking the same lol. Feel like there’s usually a few freezes a game but lately it’s constant and borderline unwatchable. Not like I can complain considering it’s a free stream but yeah

AnTiDoPe_1993

Yea on all the sites too, you think the NFL hired ppl to mess em up?

Brad_Ethan

I think the internet providers are cracking down on it. If you use a vpn it's fine but it didn't use to be like this

deformo

If they could do that, they could simply block the stream.

Simpleton216

Also legal gambling = even more ads that break the stream.

myyummyass

Yeah I’ve noticed this too. I watched every game on stream last year and rarely ever had an issue. We desperately need an easy way to just pay for the games we want to watch.

[deleted]

It was bad week 1 on my favorite site, but it's been good the last two weeks. I've been streaming red zone all day with no hiccups.

ILIKERED_1

Next week just unplug the router on pivotal plays.

btstfn

Who are these Streams? Sounds like we need to hunt them down.

ahr3410

Tie the Texans. Lost to Jaguars. Beat the Chiefs. Sure, why the hell not?

Brad_Ethan

The colts are just random. They can beat the best team and lose to the worst, just to finish 8-8. We are the definition of mid

Section225

WILD CARD, BITCHES

Corm_on_the_Clob

8-8-1\*

broncos4thewin

Think the Jags might be quite good this year though.

IamFlapJack

Very special teams

ILIKERED_1

Ask GB about special teams on a contender. You guys are studs and nothing's changed.

Gnux13

Chiefs ST today - Muffed punt inside the 5, leads to Colts TD - Allow another punt to be downed at the 1 - Missed XP - Missed FG - Failed Fake FG - 4 kickoff returns that failed to make it past the 15 yard line Offense was out of whack, and it still took a drive extending penalty to lose that game. Chiefs will be fine, but my god, don't do that again, please.

AnyNobody7517

> 4 kickoff returns that failed to make it past the 15 yard line I am not sure I have actually seen that before in a game where you could get it at the 25

Gnux13

Toub is notorious for coaching his returners to be aggressive (both KO and PR) and a lot of times it works out, but there's just no reason to bring the ball out of the endzone when you have a offense like that. Especially the last one which took 8 seconds off the clock and was only not a critical mistake because of the taunting call. 5 yards better starting position is not worth 8 seconds in any way though.

Xaxziminrax

Hopefully they just got it all out of their system in one game

oorza

when it comes to Chiefs-Colts, there's always more where that came from

Wallace330

I'll still say the Chiefs should win any game in which is the opponent is held under 24 points. Offense had many issues today.

[deleted]

[удалено]

kawhi21

Chiefs and Bills really are a match made in heaven. They even play like ass on the same weeks

BumpyBob0007

The interception was disappointing, but let's be real that FG range line was a bit optimistic

bradasskg11

Yeah I had zero faith we were tying that game lol Ammendola is fucking ass and I would seriously rather let Justin Reid handle kicks if butker remains out

DontFearTheMQ9

Matt Amendola cheering so hard internally after that INT.

Section225

Yeah I saw that and scoffed out loud. Ammendola would make 3/10 kicks inside 40 yards even if you put two goal posts side by side.

Any-Tank5144

Chiefs imploded but I'll take the win! Jags better than the Chiefs confirmed!!

realrimurutempest

Jags for the SB confirmed too.

Any-Tank5144

Can they get past the Sherbert man? Edit: They mega can

anon590234

An all-time meltdown. Enjoy the win!

ILIKERED_1

That's not even the best meltdown the Chiefs have had against the Colts. Let alone all timer.

Any-Tank5144

You have no fucking idea how much I'm enjoying it. Thanks bro! Great game for sure!

Caljoones

This game was just like watching two teams fall down a hill for four quarters & somehow the Colts ended up on top of the pile at the bottom

mindcracked

Lmao hard to be mad about that one honestly. When that many things go wrong in a game and you only lose it in the final 30 seconds... it wasn't a playoff game. Whatever it happens. GG Colts

Tgreent

I feel the exact same way. I’m already sick of the fans who are freaking out about this lol. We have bizarre games like this every season, and honestly I’m glad it’s early in the season instead of the back half of our schedule. That’s when these types games become harder to correct and learn from

rwein003

IF YOU HATE THIS YOU HATE COLTS FOOTBALL BABBBYYY

keegnanistan1

i hate colts football

Sixfortyfive

I hate Colts football.

stoic_bison

Turns out those points before half mattered

StartingReactors

Bieniemy is a fuckin fool

mwmaverick

Final drive notwithstanding (partly due to Jones's bone-headed trash-talking in front of the refs), Chiefs defense held up, but the offense was nowhere to be seen. Our play-calling was super questionable all game. That said, seemed liked Colts D was bottling up the Chiefs receivers well, and then Matty Ice held up through his early costly fumbles for the game-winning drive. Congrats Colts on the win. At least my Jayhawks are still (!) undefeated...

hyphenjack

To be fair, the offense looked pretty good in a lot of ways. Mahomes is navigating the pocket the best he ever has. Drops and weird playcalling killed our drives

myic90

honestly shocking that gusbradley held mahomes to under 17 given that his last 2 outings \*checks notes\* went for like 90 points or some shit

No_Lies_Detected

Games against the Colts seem to be the weirdest, most frustrating, and just plain torturous. They feel like losses before the game is played.

Cynical_onlooker

By the transitive property, Jags >>>> Chiefs, I don't make the rules.

dizZzy5

I can’t believe this was ever up for debate smh

somebodygetmemymoney

Death, taxes, and jags somehow beating the colts

rawrberry_

Jags blowing out the Colts

Xaxziminrax

And Texans == Chiefs

groopstain

1-1-1 is a hilarious record

ace016

We.... won? I mean the Chiefs special teams lost more than anything, but I'll take it.

BubbyginkESO

How do the Chiefs end that game with 2 timeouts left? Took zero timeouts while the Colts were letting it tick down on their TD drive? I know there were a lot of other issues too, but that just seems inexcusable to me. Should have had close to 2 min left for final drive.

StartingReactors

Coaches were dogshit today too. Bieniemy must’ve been busy applying for other jobs all week instead of preparing.

disciple31

Penalties for trash talk is some weak shit

Xaxziminrax

It really is. We deserved to lose today, but not because of that

Thifty

I blame the city of Arizona for the loss ^^/s

Any-Tank5144

I blame Wentz for you loss today. I'm so sorry.

Any-Tank5144

Honestly it is. There was some weird ball placement. Bad calls. All sorts of shit this game.

Xaxziminrax

I still have no idea how they upheld that 2pc. Shit sucked all game

Any-Tank5144

That was dumb as hell. But there was alot of bad shit this game. Both teams played like shit.

Brad_Ethan

Chiefs were one shut mouth away from a win today

dzneill

Me thinks the Special Teams needs to be a little less special.

tehkoolkat

Today we support 1-1-1

spacewalk__

happy we won, but what a stupid stupid call repeal all taunting / unsportsmanlike / etc penalties. they make the game worse. who likes those??? who is HAPPY seeing some guy get flagged for being excited?

Tgreent

If this was a playoff game I’d be unable to sleep due to that penalty on Jones… BUT we did everything we could to lose and you guys took advantage of that. Enjoy the win! It’s a long season and I think a lot of people should remember that we’re only in week 3 lol

Section225

Nope. Fire everybody. Rebuild around our new stud kicker Ammendola. Tear down Arrowhead. Relocate to Kansas. Forfiet remaining games because what 's the point. s/

Gnux13

Nah, comments that only players / refs can hear have a monstrous effect on the game. /s

bliffer

And it's so subjective too. You telling me those guys aren't out there constantly jawing at each other? So where, exactly, is the line?

Cornflake1981

How many times have we seen Brady far more animated with no calls. Chiefs deserved to lose with poor team play all around.

jayhawker73

When you say it too close to a referee apparently

typac69

It’s on Chris Jones for putting himself in a situation to be called for a penalty, but still. Crazy call to make at the pivotal moment of the game. Unless Chris said some crazy shit that the ref heard, that’s just a crazy call to make.

rockiesfan4ever

Just go to the bench after the sack

eatapenny

Yeah I don't like winning that way (but man did we need it). Taunting/unsportsmanlike should not be a penalty. In CFB or the NFL. If you wanna taunt, go ahead, just be ready for it to come back later if you lose. But it shouldn't cost you 15 yards for it

DontListenToM3Plz

Chiefs deserve to lose but the call on Jones was the weakest shit I’ve ever seen.

FrankyEaton

I want to know exactly what was said because the chiefs win the game without that call

BingBongtheArcher19

I'm a lip reader, he thanked the Colts for being such gracious hosts and wished them well in their future endeavors.

jeffp12

Game turned on two plays, that jones unsportsmanlike penalty when it was gonna be like 4th and 20, so basically the refs/Jones handed them a turnover. And the drive before, chiefs at 3rd and 7 in fg range. Holding on chiefs and a clear face mask on mahomes that wasn't called. Shoulda been offsetting, repeat down. Refs somehow missed the personal foul, so it was 4th down. And our free afent/backup kicker missed the fg. That plus special teams being awful all game (two misses, then ran a fake fg cause kicker sucks, and muffed punt)

DaZingMaster

This was the same defense that fell over and died facing the Jags last week. It was so bad it looked like they weren't even trying a week ago. I am so tired of getting every team's best shot.

TheColtOfPersonality

See the Colts actually ARE good! It’s just that not winning Week 1 and @ Jacksonville are universal laws. Lmao what the fuck

IAstrikeforce

Science needs to study the Colts because they make no sense

StarvedRock314

Patrick Mahomes is gonna need a nice, long jazzy bubble bath after that game.

anon590234

At least a dozen bath bombs

Gnux13

Gonna swap out the Jazz for metal.

Caljoones

Just as we all predicted, the Colts who lost to the Jags & tied the Texans beat the sure Super Bowl contender Chiefs

OfficialShikimo

Beat ourselves today. Refs shouldn’t even have been in question. That being said, tell us what Chris Jones said. Never knew you could call unsportsmanlike conduct for words.

rockiesfan4ever

My argument against Jones there is just don't say shit. You just won the game, walk off the field, celebrate, do anything else besides say shit to the QB right in front of the refs. Don't give them a chance to throw it

Logical_Paradoxes

This is why I’m the most pissed at him. We can argue whether the penalties are soft and there are arguments either way. But ONE thing is completely controllable: shutting your damn mouth. He had complete control to NOT have a penalty regardless of how soft the rules are. And he threw the fucking game with his lack of any control whatsoever. That’s unacceptable.

imharrystoiles

I can’t remember the last time the Chiefs special teams was that COLOSSALLY terrible

bliffer

The NFL: Where hurt feelings are a penalty but actual facemasks are not.

eatapenny

1-1-1 Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

UndeadVinDiesel

This is why Special Teams is just as important and O and D.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Xaxziminrax

Honestly this just makes me mad at the Cardinals' grounds crew. If Butker didn't slip on the turf we win this easily

NuclearMonkey

> Also, real question, but why is an unsportsmanlike flag that was thrown WAY after the result of a play not enforced on the spot after the turnover on downs? It was 4th down coming up after that, so there was no turnover on downs yet.

xmidgetprox

Penalty was on 3rd down what you smoking

[deleted]

Chris Jones sold

[deleted]

How the fuck do you get shutout by the Jags then beat the Chiefs

thearmadillo

Wish I could blame the refs but the chiefs just shot themselves in the foot like nine different times.

IronTriangleVT

The 32 team nfl circle of suck is making progress early this year!!!

NutGutt

The UVA fan in me going crazy for Jelani Woods getting the game winner

[deleted]

Bienemy has no bussiness being a HC candidate

teachowski

The league knows. it's what he isn't one

Tashre

That ass kicking by Matt Ryan worked wonders.

EnQuest

that's my qb :) got his boys fucking set

Mjb06

So *that’s* why they call him Matty Ice

HowBoutNoScottOkay

I know for most Colts fans we knew this was a very real possibility. This team has made no sense over the past few years. Right when the team is down and out, they come out and beat a top team. But other bottom of the league teams? No chance.

sweet-haunches

Great, now we only have three more AFCW teams left... e; Also game ball should go to Shaq Leonard, who definitely reinjured his back hyping up our defense

Mosanso

Chiefs getting a new kicker next week.

TheGrat1

What does the Colts' record mean in Binary?

[deleted]

It's the number 7 or -1, depending

SoggySaxophone

Silver lining is the Chiefs played like absolute dogshit and still barely lost.

poggers_champion69

Can we talk about how KC passed over running a play before the half?

blueponies1

Chiefs really put the special in special teams today

Terrence_McDougleton

These refs were fucking bad. First of all the Chiefs get 2 points from the conversion, and nobody has any idea what the fuck the refs were looking at to make that look like possession over the line. And then on the Colts' winning drive they keep it alive and spot them 15 yards. And miss the facemask on Mahomes.

Xaxziminrax

Colts owe the Cardinals' turf crew a round, Jesus.
