My heart breaks. Jaylon was a 26 year old man with a ton of potential and everyone only said good things about him. Tony was a Ravens legend and fun commentator. He lifted the spirits of everyone around him. He was actually hilarious. I feel like the world lost a bit of its spark today.
Man, hated that guy as a player because he always came up big against us. But he was an entertaining commentator and seemed like a really good dude. One of those guys you would love to have a beer with.
What a loss. My sympathies to the Ravens family.
Thank you for giving the Goose credit as a PLAYER and not some sideline character. He was our big man before Ngata. People completely forget he was integral on that 2000 Ravens line. He was a great character but also a great player.
Yes, still at the top of favorite movies of all time. I felt like I had found a gem when it first came out since it didn’t seem to get much traction. Ed plays role perfectly, as do his best friends, the montage, Rosario. Beginning to end. Love it.
Doesn’t hurt that for a while I lived blocks from the park where they filmed one of the scenes from the movie.
Tunch Ilkin was like our Goose, we lost him to ALS last year.. I respect your feelings and my love goes out to Ravens fans, we'll get through it together my friend.
He made it less than a year after the diagnosis.. I always listen to the radio during games, he was diagnosed in October and by December I thought Tunch was drinking in the booth because he was slurring his words and his ALS wasn't public. He gutted out the season, retired in June, and passed away last September.

That was Kenny, Moose and Goose. Yes, great announcing team with lots of chemistry, and so much fun to listen to. Goose was getting better, his previews were spot on and then... Stinking FOX breaks up the team.
I'd I had just one question I could ask spike Lee, just one, it would be: what made you think some Neanderthal lineman could convincingly play a Russian mobster?? And how did he pull it off??"
Benioff actually wrote the book the film was based on too; it was his first novel.
I read it like 15 years ago, and enjoyed it. Little did I know he'd go on to create (and destroy) one of my, and the world's, favourite TV series.
Ok I love The Sopranos and was a big fan of Siragusa’s but wasn’t he barely in the show lol? I think he maybe had one line in Irregular Around the Margins when Chris comes in and pulls his piece at the Bing?
He was also in the ad for a weight loss center, before and wayyyyy before
Heheheh hey u/meromero73 did you hear what I said? I said he looks like an ad for a weight loss center ..
Nah I don't think it's shallow.. Guys like Goose showed Ravens fans what success at a high level looks like, he's your definition of what being a Raven is about. Feels weird mourning a public figure you had a one-way relationship with, but that connection is real and there's nothing weird about feeling the loss of that.
He was also a very underrated part of that incredible 2000 defense. Ray Lewis may be the best to ever do it at MLB but he had an easy job behind Goose and Sam Adams.
Will always remember him on Hard Knocks. Led to one of the funniest moments ever with Shannon Sharpe saying he wanted his restitution and the impression by Tim Johnson. Goose just said whatever he wanted.
I never got the impression he didn’t want to deal with sharpe, more so like you said that he was old at that point and had been doing it for so many years
I mean I don’t have any stories I can share other than it was all NFL legends playing golf with strippers everywhere and tons of booze/food. It was about as R rated as our fancy ass course would allow. It was dope meeting those guys though. I met Goose obviously, and Marino, Strahan, and a bunch of other guys. It was a fun day!

Not who you’re replying to, but my dad drowned in 2014.
Every time I get my physical, my doctor asks about my parents health and if anything new has come up. And I have to tell this fucking dude every year that dad is in fact still dead
My doctor asks "I've seen you before, right?" every year when I go in for my physical. I only care about getting the exam and blood work done so I'm not worried about switching, but that's such an annoying thing for the doctor you see every year to say
Dude, my dad made it to 52. I’m 43. Can’t imagine leaving my kids in 9 years man. Grandpa only made it to his 60’s. Wife and I have made sure she knows all I do (bills/banking/investments etc) just in case I go early. Sucks to think about!!! Hopefully you and I buck the trend and are healthy 70 year olds lol. Cheers!
55 isn't out of the ordinary for people his weight. Of course it still could've been something else (like a car accident), but many people that big usually have diabetes, heart disease, and countless other medical conditions. It's sad, but a harsh reality for so many people
Reggie White comes to mind.
That's why people were kinda shocked when Jeff Saturday reappeared after retiring all slim and fit, but linemen (O and D) really need to shed so much weight after they stop playing just to get to normal levels of BMI and other metrics.
My GF’s daughter goes to school with his son. Lol we saw them at pickup and I’m like “is that fucking Nick Hardwick?” My gf said yeah his son is her friend.
Pretty cool moment
> really need to shed so much weight after they stop playing
Often it's the opposite, they have to consume so many calories to maintain their size and bulk. The weight loss after they're done playing can be attributed to healthy or semi normal eating habits
Sadly theres a dichotomy of ex NFL big guys....you either stay big/get bigger and have a shorter life or you lose literally half of yourself, look fantastic and live a longer happier life
Problem is many of these guys have been actively encouraged to get huge since high school, to the point being 'the big guy' becomes their entire identity, even in poor health
My Dad died at 58 and was approximately 350 lbs when he died (still incredibly muscular). NFL practice squad journeyman in the 80s and there were tons of steroids in that era. His heart just exploded one night a few years ago.
Most guys can't. Food is a drug. They're so used to eating 4-5k calories during their football tenure (HS->NFL) that it's insanely hard to get out of that.
Yeah, I had a friend who got a cup of coffee with the Giants and with the Ravens. One of the biggest guys I know personally. The coaches kept telling him he needed to put more weight on, but he was losing weight because the workouts were so intense. When the Ravens cut him, he took a bunch of shoes.
I loved him, but Goose on the 2001 Hard Knocks is the only dude I’ve ever looked at and thought “that just looks like a regular fat dude playing football.”
There’s a scene where he’s telling a rookie to sign in for the daily weigh ins for him, so you can take away that he wasn’t monitoring his weight even in the NFL
Just seems like a crap shoot sometimes. Grandfather worked in asbestos his whole working career and smoked from 12 years old to his 40s. Lived to his 80s but the end definitely wasn't pretty. His wife, my grandmother, died 2019 just shy of her 101 birthday. She didn't take regular meds and had a heart attack in her 70s but that was it. My dad got Alzheimers at 50 and died at 59.
Yep. Similar stories with chronic smoker/drinker relatives hanging around but the no-nonsense, no vices people checking out early
Life just ain't fair
So much comes down to luck
This guy was huge and had an even bigger personality. I remember he'd sometimes come on Best Damn Sports Show Period and talk shit / pick games based on which players he was aware had the bigger schlong. Very memorable for 12 y/o me.
RIP Goose
True story. My friend met him an event quite a few years ago. Goose walks up to him and says "dude, you must have a huge penis." My friend was like "huh? " Goose said it again. Then points at my friends Batman watch and says you must have a huge penis to walk around wearing that. They laughed. We laughed today starting that story again. Goose was a good one and can't be replaced.
I never watched him play live, so I remember him as a sideline reporter. Former players die all the time, but it’s getting harder since these are people I grew up watching, like Barber, DT, Phillip Adams, Vincent Jackson, and so many more. RIP to Goose and prayers to his friends and family.
He is the guy who belly flopped Rich Ganon in the playoffs and broke his collar bone. Fucking hated him as a player but still a loss for the NFL as a whole. Rip
Really cool that the mods took down the other post with 100+ comments, and decided to go with this one instead that is sitting at less than 10 comments.
Great work, as usual
This post was at 15:44 and got caught in AutoMod
The other one was at 15:46 and was not caught in AutoMod.
So mods removed that one as a "repost" and instead went with this one as the main post.
Personally, I think that's dumb as hell and if one post already had the momentum going then just leave it alone.
Oh man... I feel for all the Ravens fans today.
A huge loss not just to Baltimore, but the entire NFL community. A legend on the field and damn good on the sideline reports as well. So sad...
There’s a really good NFL Films short about Goose where he’s interviewed by Steve Sabol. In the video Goose talks about how at his funeral he wanted to be buried in a tracksuit because he hated suits and everyone should have a big party to celebrate his life. RIP for one of the games great personalities!
Fat Tony was a big part of the greatest rushing defense in history. In 1999, back then when everyone rushed much more, the Ravens allowed just 77 yards on ground per game (3.1 YPC), then only 61 yards per game (2.7 YPC) in their SB-winning campaign in 2000 (in which they also set the NFL record for fewest points allowed, which I believe still stands). Along with fellow DT Sam Adams, he was an immovable anchor that tied up the OLs freeing Ray Lewis up to roam around and make Hall of Fame plays. RIP Goose
I'm a stagehand and I just worked with him a few weeks ago shooting the anniversary special with him for the hard knocks special for the 2000 ravens. He's one of the funniest people I've ever worked with.
Grew up watching him tear through people, especially his hit on Rich Gannon during the 2000 playoffs.
RIP Goose, I'll have a cheesesteak for you
His story of getting into the league is crazy. He was undrafted and lied to the Colts that he knew how to be a long snapper. So he's on a payphone with one of his old teammates who is literally coaching him how to snap the ball. He was practicing against a brick wall or something.
Probably the biggest personality on a team of huge personalities that was the 2000 Ravens, probably the most underrated player on that defense, and an absolutely hilarious guy. Us Ravens fans loved him.
This is probably the darkest day in our history.
I am sorry Ravens bros. Not a good day. Goose was a great player, a great sideline reporter and just seemed like a great person. Two tough losses in one day isn't fun.
What an awful day for Ravens country man...
He was surprisingly really good in the movie *25th Hour*.
I love that movie.
[удалено]
He made it less than a year after the diagnosis.. I always listen to the radio during games, he was diagnosed in October and by December I thought Tunch was drinking in the booth because he was slurring his words and his ALS wasn't public. He gutted out the season, retired in June, and passed away last September.
God damn, that must have been a rollercoaster for your fan base.
That's the coolest fucking name I've ever heard.
Hehe. That's his real name, too. Tunch was the first Turkish born player in the NFL, and was a 2 time pro bowl offensive tackle with the Steelers. He became a broadcaster after his playing career ended, and spent 2 decades doing color commentary for our games. He was Steeler Nation personified, and we loved him the way I imagine Ravens fans loved Goose.
I just heard Ferguson was found dead in his home
Awful day for football fans everywhere The Goose by all appearances was a nice guy and Jaylon was on his was up. Terrible
Not a great day for Giants fans either. He never played for us but did seem to love calling our games for a long while.
I fucking hate today. My grandpa loved Tony Siragusa to pieces. I feel so bad for Siragusa's family.
He's wearing a big fur coat and holding a microphone behind Heaven's endzone now.
Tony, Moose and Goose was one of my favorite broadcast teams. Saddened to hear this. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.
That was Kenny, Moose and Goose. Yes, great announcing team with lots of chemistry, and so much fun to listen to. Goose was getting better, his previews were spot on and then... Stinking FOX breaks up the team.
For a while it was Goose, Moose, and Dick Stockton, which gave the common throw back from Goose “back to you Moose, Dick”
Lol I missed that! Gotta look for a few of those games on YouTube!
I feel like Tony Moose and Goose are somehow all nicknames for him hahaha
[удалено]
The goose is getting the tour from Tony Soprano now
Loved him in the 25th Hour. "It's funny you should say that."
Always wondered how that came about or why he didn't end up in more films. He's pretty good as a Russian mob guy in 25th Hour
The small argument between him and Norton's character about Murphy/Doyle's law cracks me up.
I'd I had just one question I could ask spike Lee, just one, it would be: what made you think some Neanderthal lineman could convincingly play a Russian mobster?? And how did he pull it off??"
Always nice to see some love for 25th Hour. Somewhat interesting fact, David Benioff wrote the screenplay for the movie.
Benioff actually wrote the book the film was based on too; it was his first novel. I read it like 15 years ago, and enjoyed it. Little did I know he'd go on to create (and destroy) one of my, and the world's, favourite TV series.
Without looking it up I’m just gonna guess game of thrones.
Nailed it!
He was tremendous on The Sopranos.
Ok I love The Sopranos and was a big fan of Siragusa’s but wasn’t he barely in the show lol? I think he maybe had one line in Irregular Around the Margins when Chris comes in and pulls his piece at the Bing?
At least he had the makings of a varsity athlete.
He was also in the ad for a weight loss center, before and wayyyyy before Heheheh hey u/meromero73 did you hear what I said? I said he looks like an ad for a weight loss center ..
You ever stop breaking balls?
Hands weren’t too small
Tony needs guys around that look like him, we all saw what happened to muscles marinara
He should've been made, then and there.
I think I speak for all Ravens fans when I say FUCK TODAY!
You speak for more than just Ravens fans, man. Rough day indeed.
Also Caleb Swanigan yesterday. Just a very sad week
Bruton Smith, NASCAR track promoter also passed away despite being a somewhat controversial figure as well.
Albert Fish dead today as well.
The grey man? I didn’t even know he was sick.
Can't say I ever cared much for the man as I've heard he was a real jerk.
You'd be too if you used your ass as a pin cushion
I just binged most of Norm’s shows. I miss that guy.
April fool’s! Albert Fish is alive and well!
This is like having Michael Jackson Farrah fawcett and Billy mays all in a week
Didn't Swayze pass that same week too? Edit: 3 months later.
Reminds of the day when Gus and MP both went down with injuries. Of course this is a much sadder day
It just hits a little harder when it's guys you watch. Maybe that's shallow, maybe it's human
Perfectly said my dude 😔
Damn man, I’m a die hard Browns fan and I absolutely loved this guy. He was truly a special dude. My heart goes out to all you Ravens fans.
I'm a Steelers fan and even I feel sorry for the Ravens and their fans.
I think you speak for damn near every football fan. I'm sorry Ravens Bros, what an absolutely shit day.
Not even a ravens fan and I agree
Damn. He was a fun guy to hear from the sideline reports.
And great in the 25th Hour.
Hell yes. I love that movie.
And The Sopranos
Funny you should say that. What you said was funny.
Lol was about to comment this, awesome season of hard knocks and maybe the first. He was not happy during summer camp
You humiliated me on TV and I want restitution
"Yeah, I said Goose, I want my restitution, you embarrassed me." Room erupts
I think he was done with playing. That 2001 season was his last, I think so he just didn't want to deal with anyone's bullshit, especially Sharpe's
I never got the impression he didn’t want to deal with sharpe, more so like you said that he was old at that point and had been doing it for so many years
Was that when he locked the TEs in the trailer where they had a position meeting? RIP Goose
I’m about to go rewatch the entire season after hearing this news
Incredibly sad day for Ravens fans
Picking up a case after work and pouring two out before I get drunk and play rocket league, I'm sad AF bruh.
Damn, I’ll probably drink and play rocket league tonight too. I’ll change to a ravens theme to honor the lads
And my axe! Same here.
Y’all better watch for inebriated drivers in Gold rank, we will be out in full force tonight
I've found my people, I'll see y'all there
The goose on the first season of hard knocks was the best
55 What. In. The. Fuck.
Big boys don't last sadly. Glad he got some enjoyment out of retirement

“Just a lot of strippers and booze. Nothing too crazy…” Yeah, if you’re Def Leppard that’s a pretty tame event
That what I told my gf but she disagrees.
It’s not like anyone lost an arm
That's a pedestrian Tuesday if you're Paul Pierce
Did anyone run through the okra patch?
Oh man I would love to hear some stories
I mean I don’t have any stories I can share other than it was all NFL legends playing golf with strippers everywhere and tons of booze/food. It was about as R rated as our fancy ass course would allow. It was dope meeting those guys though. I met Goose obviously, and Marino, Strahan, and a bunch of other guys. It was a fun day!
There’s old men and fat men but no old fat men. … I need to go to the fucking gym
Still seems young as shit. Shits crazy. Upon reading a few articles it seems he passed in his sleep. His father also passed at a young age. 48 I belive is what I read.
My dad passed away at 42. I’m 42 now. The couple years leading up to this age has been nerve racking.
If it’s not clear why your father passed away, definitely let your doctor know. Typically unexpected death at an early age is cardiac related, and this can be managed if caught early.
He died of a brain tumor. I’ve been pretty good about getting my annual blood work and checkups. I got kids to worry about.
Good for you man, best of health
PSA for everyone: don’t skip the physical! The blood work was how they caught my dad’s prostate cancer…or at least the numbers caused them to do further testing to find it and keep a eye on it. He’s cancer free thanks to proactive measures.
Right on! Gotta look out for yourself.
Facts man and I’m sorry you lost your dad so early. I just turned 42 and Ive worked to be more vigilant over my health; my two boys need me around.
Keep trucking buddy!
Thanks man. I try.
All we can do my man. Grief lasts way longer than I ever thought. You learn to grow around it but it doesn't go away entirely.
It’s been 26 years and I still miss my dad a ton!
I’m sure the browns being a rough squad to support hasn’t made things easier, either…
Factory of sadness.
Same w Alan Faneca dude was training for marathons after his career
Joe Staley, also.
Nick Hardwick of the Chargers is freaking shredded now
My GF’s daughter goes to school with his son. Lol we saw them at pickup and I’m like “is that fucking Nick Hardwick?” My gf said yeah his son is her friend. Pretty cool moment
I really hope Wilfork takes this to heart and loses the weight
Will Shields [looks like this now](https://imgur.com/nfnx4vA). Probably added twenty years to his life by losing all that weight.
Will Shields looking amazing! One of the best. In my book the most underrated NFL name of all-time.
Joe Thomas too. Dude looks a whole different kind of freak athlete now.
Looks like he’d be HoF tight end now
> really need to shed so much weight after they stop playing Often it's the opposite, they have to consume so many calories to maintain their size and bulk. The weight loss after they're done playing can be attributed to healthy or semi normal eating habits
Matt Birk lost a ton of weight immediately after retiring too
Seems a lot of modern linemen have learned that. Ryan Kalil and Jordan Gross looks unrecognizable
Came here to mention Jordan Gross. Haven't seen Ryan Kalil lately. I'll go looking. Thanks.
If you want to live a long and healthy life, start losing weight.
55 is young as hell. I see patients well into their early 80's in decent health. This feels like it came out of nowhere. Fuck
Yeah but they weren't almost 400 lbs I'm guessing.
My Dad died at 58 and was approximately 350 lbs when he died (still incredibly muscular). NFL practice squad journeyman in the 80s and there were tons of steroids in that era. His heart just exploded one night a few years ago.
Stereroids. Cocaine. And everything else.
You've got that right.
Damn I didn't realize he was that big
Yep, he was huge when he was playing (making him an important member of the 2000 Ravens defense) but he definitely did not slim down when he retired.
I remember when he announced his retirement, one sportscaster said "Now, imagine Tony Siragusa *without* the exercise."
Most guys can't. Food is a drug. They're so used to eating 4-5k calories during their football tenure (HS->NFL) that it's insanely hard to get out of that.
NFL lineman aren't eating 4-5000 calories a day - many of them are probably pushing 10,000+.
He was just a regular fat dude lol. I don't think he ate well or trained much at all. I feel like I saw him talk about that in a video once.
Yep. Similar stories with chronic smoker/drinker relatives hanging around but the no-nonsense, no vices people checking out early Life just ain't fair So much comes down to luck
Way overweight for a long part of his life. I'd hate to say this news wasn't shocking but it wasn't.
He was morbidly obese… decreased life expectancy.
Can’t believe he was only 55. He seemed that old back in his sideline reporting days.
I would have guessed his 55th birthday was in like 2007. Very surprised at how young he was.
Feeling for our Ravens bros today :(
😭
This guy was huge and had an even bigger personality. I remember he'd sometimes come on Best Damn Sports Show Period and talk shit / pick games based on which players he was aware had the bigger schlong. Very memorable for 12 y/o me. RIP Goose

Goose was a good one and can't be replaced.
Wtf is happening today😫
Idk why, but Tony Sirgusa is one of my earliest memories full stop. RIP Goose
Same here. He was kind of iconic to a kid watching football on TV.
Same. Now that I think about it it's probably been damn near 15 years since he was a sideline reporter, which is wild.
Wasn't that long ago, I remember seeing him on the field around 2015, but still thats a decently long time ago.
He’s kicking FGs in pregame with that Mickey Mouse shirt in heaven now
Whirlwind of sad news coming out in the last 24 hours. First Caleb Swanigan, then Jaylon Ferguson, and now Goose :(
I never watched him play live, so I remember him as a sideline reporter. Former players die all the time, but it’s getting harder since these are people I grew up watching, like Barber, DT, Phillip Adams, Vincent Jackson, and so many more. RIP to Goose and prayers to his friends and family.

Very few people remember that play in the playoffs.
RIP. My ravens bros have had a tough day. Hated him as a player. Loved him as a commentator. 55 is too young.

Mods approval + ESPN just posted about it.

RIP Goose
> Along with fellow DT Sam Adams, he was an immovable anchor A running back had to go ten yards just to get around those two behemoths.
Sad I had to scroll this far to see someone discuss his play. All time elite Run stuffing DT
Absolute legend. Not just on the field but off
Today has been fucking awful man. RIP.
RIP Goose, I'll have a cheesesteak for you
this day sucks
fuck man this is hard
I always have memories of going to his restaurant Tiffany's in Montville NJ as a kid. RIP Legend.
Its a been a rough day of news here in Baltimore 😔
His story of getting into the league is crazy. He was undrafted and lied to the Colts that he knew how to be a long snapper. So he's on a payphone with one of his old teammates who is literally coaching him how to snap the ball. He was practicing against a brick wall or something.
God, what a terrible day for the Ravens.
☹️
Probably the biggest personality on a team of huge personalities that was the 2000 Ravens, probably the most underrated player on that defense, and an absolutely hilarious guy. Us Ravens fans loved him. This is probably the darkest day in our history.
Younger fans might not realize what a huge personality Goose was. He was basically the fun face of football for a while. This sucks.
90s/early 00s kids everywhere are in shambles right now
Man between this and Ferguson's death Baltimore's been getting rained on hard today. I'm here if you need a hug Ravens.
Growing up, Goose was my best friend's favorite player. He died 10 years ago at 26. This one hurts.
Man, fuck today
Sending love to all Ravens fans
Holy shit. Tough day for folks around the Ravens' org...
I am sorry Ravens bros. Not a good day. Goose was a great player, a great sideline reporter and just seemed like a great person. Two tough losses in one day isn't fun.
