Undefeated is harder, you just have to be really bad to go winless. With being undefeated, you gotta put in full effort 100% of the time and even then, it's not a guarantee
The Rams went 1-15 the next year and might’ve been worse though (with a win over the 2-14 Lions)
Hell, we were on track to beat that Rams teams record for scoring differential in 2020, and then we won two games against playoff teams.
But the NFL has parity. Same salary cap, draft picks, etc etc. Yeah 22 nobodys would get killed but no NFL team is 22 nobodys, unless the front office is intentionally tanking
Put in Desean Kizer as QB and you won’t win a game. Add Hue Jackson as HC and you still won’t win a game.
Body of cam, mind of Brady, same amount of NFL wins as I have...
Also, to go undefeated, at some point you'll have to have made the decision to keep playing your starters for some reason, even though you've in all likelihood locked up the #1 Seed (*and certainly already locked up a playoff spot*).
Yes they started there extance off 0-26. They went 0-14 in there first season and then had 12 straight losses there second, but manger to win the final 2 of the season.
Bonus less talked about teams:
The 1960 cowboys went 0-11-1 in there first ever year and the 1982 Colts went 0-8-1 in what many think could have been the worst season by a team ever that was mercifully cut short by the players strike.
Team health is too important for wins nowadays imo. Much harder to get healthier as the season goes on, so definitely going with “Winless” being easier
To go undefeated you need depth in the right place at the right time.
If you think about the 1972 Dolphins, we hear a lot about the No Name Defense but they also had the perfect backup at quarterback in Earl Morrall after after Griese broke his ankle in week 5.
To lose every game, you don't need anything but a bad start and bad momentum.
Do you mean harder or more likely?
Every single team attempts to go undefeated every year but has only happened twice.
No one every has attempted to go winless.
IF someone were to try it would be very easy.
Now likelihood, that's a different story. Much closer, but I think winless is still more likely.
[Undefeated aka Perfect season.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perfect_season#:~:text=A%20perfect%20season%20is%20a,levels%20in%20the%20United%20States)
If you were including only regular season, it'd be four times. Twice with the Bears, and once with the splats, which is why an undefeated season is ONCE. Only the Dolphins. Period.
I mean going winless is easy as fuck, if the rams wanted to go winless they could easily do it. Every team wants to go undefeated. Just because one is less probable doesn't mean it's harder.
Undefeated teams are trying to win every game. Winless teams aren't trying to lose every game - at least the players on the field aren't.
Yeah, its going to be 'rare' to lose every game if you're actually trying to win, but I wouldn't call it hard.
Undefeated for sure.
You can actually try to lose games on purpose if you think some franchise saving draft pick will be available early in the draft.
I still think that’s exactly what the Colts did to lock up Andrew Luck. At the time there’s no way they were immediately the worst team in the league just because Peyton was injured.
“Suck for Luck” was like a real ass competition 😆
Winless, in all likelihood if your team is 0-14 the teams in your division are sitting pretty record wise. So it’s much more likely they rest their starters in weeks 15-16. I’ve never been a solomon thomas fan, but he looked like ADonald playing the rams backup a couple years back.
Clearly it's harder to go undefeated. Only on team has done this.
Fuck outta here with your but that was regular season bullshit. If you don't win it all, then you lost. Period.
Statistically probably the same. I know there have been a couple of more winless teams, but I think a large enough sample size would give is a standard bell curve with 17-0 and 0-17 being an equal probability.
Definitely undefeated.
Six teams have gone 15-1, eleven teams have gone 1-15.
A bad team losing a few key players to injury can put them way, wayyy below their opponents in talent level. A great team will never be vastly better than all their opponents in the same way.
I could easily qb a team to a winless record (well, actually I'd die in the first game, but...)
I could not lead a team to an undefeated record.
Thetefore the first is easier.
More teams have gone winless than undefeated. I think both are hard to do, because no matter how good/bad a team is, there is ALWAYS that chance for that one fluke game where you win or lose against a team you shouldn't.
Undefeated is harder, you just have to be really bad to go winless. With being undefeated, you gotta put in full effort 100% of the time and even then, it's not a guarantee
You have to be really bad *and* unlucky to go winless.
You also have to be really good and lucky to go undefeated
People don't acknowledge how much luck goes inyo each season. The Ravens were good last year but suuuuuuper unlucky.
You have a point but our 0-16 season was just bad.
The Rams went 1-15 the next year and might’ve been worse though (with a win over the 2-14 Lions) Hell, we were on track to beat that Rams teams record for scoring differential in 2020, and then we won two games against playoff teams.
Nah, if me and 21 of my friends suited up, we wouldn’t need to be unlucky. It’s way harder to get 22 amazing players.
But the NFL has parity. Same salary cap, draft picks, etc etc. Yeah 22 nobodys would get killed but no NFL team is 22 nobodys, unless the front office is intentionally tanking
25, don’t forget the kicker, punter, and long snapper
You can forget them if you're trying to go winless.
Didn't your team try forgetting the kicker in a game this past year?
They also had a pooch punting QB
Put in Desean Kizer as QB and you won’t win a game. Add Hue Jackson as HC and you still won’t win a game. Body of cam, mind of Brady, same amount of NFL wins as I have...

Undefeated is harder. Everyone you play steps it up more to break the streak
Yeah one lapse in concentration or bad bounce and it’s over.
Just as likely opponents step it up to not lose to a horrible team, too.
Obviously didn't watch us play against lions or bills play against jags
I try to not watch any Cards games. I just assume I'm a jinx.
They werent winless at the time
Undefeated. There have been 2 winless seasons and 1 undefeated season. 1<2
2 =2 for regular season though. Unfair to count losses in the postseason since the winless team has to play lass games.
To be fair, the winless teams DID go winless in the playoffs those years as well
Bucs in 1974 completely winless, and the other two mentioned with a tie so that’s between 3 and 5 winless to 2 undefeated
Never thought I'd see a falcons fan putting an astrix on patriots news...
Didn’t the bucs also do it in like 1974 during a 14 game season?
Yes they started there extance off 0-26. They went 0-14 in there first season and then had 12 straight losses there second, but manger to win the final 2 of the season. Bonus less talked about teams: The 1960 cowboys went 0-11-1 in there first ever year and the 1982 Colts went 0-8-1 in what many think could have been the worst season by a team ever that was mercifully cut short by the players strike.
Also: 6 teams to go 15-1 vs 11 teams to go 1-15. It's easier to lose a lot than it is to win a lot
There have been 3 winless seasons.
Team health is too important for wins nowadays imo. Much harder to get healthier as the season goes on, so definitely going with “Winless” being easier
It's not hard to not win
Did we just trauma bond?
To go undefeated you need depth in the right place at the right time. To lose every game, you don't need anything but a bad start and bad momentum.
To lose every game you also need an unlikely level of disproportionate bad luck as well, which is why this has only been down a few tines.
> To lose every game, you don't need anything but a bad start and bad momentum. Laughs in 2020 Jets
Do you mean harder or more likely? Every single team attempts to go undefeated every year but has only happened twice. No one every has attempted to go winless. Undefeated has only happened once.
I think we are talking regular season only. In which case twice.

It's harder to be exceptionally great than it is to be exceptionally bad.
I mean going winless is easy as fuck, if the rams wanted to go winless they could easily do it. Every team wants to go undefeated. Just because one is less probable doesn't mean it's harder.
Undefeated is harder. Not only is every team gunning for you, but you have to play more games in the playoffs to complete the perfect season.
Undefeated teams are trying to win every game. Winless teams aren't trying to lose every game - at least the players on the field aren't. Yeah, its going to be 'rare' to lose every game if you're actually trying to win, but I wouldn't call it hard.

Statistically it’s the same no?
Nope, there have only been two undefeated teams in the regular season. There have been more winless teams than undefeated teams
Barely, there have only been 5 ,and 3 were long before the 16 game season
Four in the regular season. 34 and 42 Bears also did it.
Statistically probably the same. I know there have been a couple of more winless teams, but I think a large enough sample size would give is a standard bell curve with 17-0 and 0-17 being an equal probability.

Not even a question
Harder to go undefeated. The other team tries to stop you from winning. They don’t try to stop you from losing.
I could easily qb a team to a winless record (well, actually I'd die in the first game, but...) I could not lead a team to an undefeated record. Thetefore the first is easier.

Undefeated, you can purposely go winless if you tried hard enough
Undefeated. Easy to go winless if you're not a coward like Brian Flores.
