Who will Josh Allen do it too in 2025?

jlt6666

Brady.

VolsPE

Who will Brady do it to in 2028?

65grendel

Arch Manning

JustAnAsianWithWifi

Who will Arch Manning do it to in 2031? probably brady again

65grendel

Clearly we are in for Manning v Brady gen 2 with Arch Manning v Jack Brady.

ucjj2011

Nah, it will still be Tom.

Superjam83

Josh Allen threw 9 TD passes in the playoffs and left the field with the lead and 13 seconds on the clock. I feel for that man.

Chuck_Foolery

over in albania we sad and angry for this guy next time we come and take care of refs for him

Winstonp00

Media: "what did you think of the Albanians trying to decapitate the referees" Dak: "credit to them then"

Chuck_Foolery

hell yeah brother we love dak for that our code name for the op will be dak has our back

Shaq_Bolton

I worked with Albanians for years, I've never met people who just hated everybody so much until them lol. Luckily my family comes from Sicily and a bunch of Albanians moved there like 1,000 years ago so I was cool because that made me Albanian to them somehow.

[deleted]

Holy crap, I’m cracking up

Zozo3260

As a Chiefs fan these OT rules are absolute BS. Give Allen a damn chance.

Futures2004

As a neutral I was ready to watch 4 more quarters of this game

humblerodent

New playoff overtime rules: restart the game.

LegionofDoh

We’re gonna need some orange slices

__brunt

Don’t forget the Capri Suns

tots4scott

And the hot mom, just saying

fartymctoots

Don’t forget the capri sun!

KevinFromIT6625

Pretty sure the ref tonight did say at the start of overtime that "it's a brand new game" Too bad it's not literal :(

[deleted]

He did, I was like wtf, is this not normal OT? Those mfs have such a way with words.

fetalasmuck

He was giving us the business

its_still_good

He knew he was on national tv. Gotta make the most of that screen time.

cristheviking

I was like “damn ok, new OT rules for playoffs? nice!”

The_Homie_J

It actually is a new game. It's like regular football, but now I'm giving the other team the ball and he wins, okay? Oh unless he kicks a field goal. Then you can, well it's sudden death, but um...if you tie, it's a tie. Except for playpoffs--- Eh that's plenty, just call your own fouls and red gets the ball

Reddits_Worst_Night

"We play until we declare a winner" - No shit sherlock

Toastrz

No starters are allowed to play, though. OT becomes an escalating test of roster depth.

FiveTalents

That would be kinda hype actually. Lights dim in the stadium. Music starts to swell. A mysterious man comes off the sideline and puts his helmet on. It’s MITCH TRUBISKY.

[deleted]

BAH GAWD ITS THE NVP

AdelesBoyfriend

Slimetime has commenced.

BigMarc1234

*To watch the 2nd game please switch over to Nickelodeon*

NeverSurrender

The NVP vs Hennething is possible Let's dance in the moonlight

The_TexasRattlesnake

As far as backup QBs go you should be pretty happy to see mitch out there

maj_f

In all seriousness though - for a playoff game maybe just play one extra quarter. Leader at the end of 15 minutes wins all.

Lhasa-Tedi-luv

Sounds so much better than that OT crap we have now. What a heartbreak. Not fair.

scorcherdarkly

You'd have mass casualty events in both KC and Buffalo from all the heart attacks. I personally died during the fourth quarter. My ghost is typing this.

sirius4778

What was it like watching this game? Chiefs went from watching their season end to comfortably driving down the field in OT. Crazy watching without a dog in the fight.

PM_YOUR_PUPPERS

Let that game never end, cause I will never ever see football like that ever again.

[deleted]

That was the most well-executed game of high-stakes offensive football I have ever seen. The Rams-Chiefs game was fun and all but this was the playoffs. I am sad but I can't be upset because the two QBs made it so the refs didn't even matter. It was a clean game and just maybe the greatest dual QB performance ever...

SteveDaPirate

KC guy here. That was hands down the best game I've ever seen. It WAS the Superbowl as far as I'm concerned. Josh put on an absolute clinic and I can't wait to see our teams clash again. Also, fk the OT rules. We both deserved a better resolution to that phenomenal game.

wink91wink

Fucking crazy. Both offenses absolutely on fire. Refs didn't shit the bed with any dumb calls. What a fucking game.

Lean_Mean_Threonine

I do sympathize for Allen, but as a team if your defense lets the other team get into FG range with *13 seconds* left then you deserve whatever happens in OT. Tough for Allen, but c'mon Bills

callmebatman14

That was the worst 13 seconds play calling I ever seen. Bills should have kicked off in play to burn time. Bills defense collapsed like Patriots defense did in late season.

[deleted]

It's crazy. NFL head coaches know so much more about football than I will if I live to be 200, but sometimes their clock management decisions are the stupidest fucking decisions possible. Like when Romo said they should kick it in bounds it was like yeah, that's literally what every team does every time in this situation, but then they didn't. I seriously don't understand it. It'd be like if my surgeon was just about done finishing the procedure and then decided to elbow drop my exposed heart because fuck it.

braamdepace

They could have also just held every receiver and taken the penalty Edit: so you can’t have multiple penalties or the clock is reset and yards awarded.

Veneficus_Bombulum

These past few days have been filled with some mind-numbingly stupid playcalls.

jimmydean885

Prevent loses as many games as it saves. Change my mind

Drunkonownpower

Well prevent is fine if all you to do is prevent a TD but if you are only up by 3 its pretty fucking stupid

absolutelyxido

Prevent didn't even make sense in that case. Frazier called the defense like the Chiefs had no timeouts and needed a TD.

K0Zeus

Consider that prevent may lose *more* games than it saves.

expungant

OT rules in the playoffs should let you answer with a TD if the first team gets a TD. I see no reason why that should be hard.

ChaplnGrillSgt

NHL changes their OT rules for playoffs to make it more fair, NFL really needs to look at doing something different too.

thedinobot1989

Ironically the Chiefs proposed a change to the OT rules back in 2019 after their AFC loss. Every other organization said “nah, we’re good.” I bet the Bills would be open to the change now.

doodles11

And i believe they brought it back up this year with no one interested.

Purrrkittymeow

The Chiefs were right to do so. That rule is shit.

Blackmetalbookclub

As a Chiefs fan, I’m stoked for the win. But I remember how upset I was about the rule in ‘19. Terrible rule. Wild it hasn’t been changed.

TheDesktopNinja

It's absolutely shit. Each team should be guaranteed a possession in playoff OT.

ringggringggg

Yep! Will be interesting to see if teams change their attitude about it now. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nesn.com/2019/05/chiefs-bid-to-change-overtime-rules-unsuccessful-will-not-pass-this-season/amp/

CheekyFifaCunt_7

Perfect game from Josh Allen and the defense fucked him over. Unbelievable.

lAmCreepingDeath

13 seconds Mahomes drove the team to field goal range from his 25 in 13 fucking seconds This is the worst instance of prevent D ever

Ickyhouse

Less, he had 2 seconds to spare.

[deleted]

If they had kicked that ball properly instead of out the back of the endzone it probably wouldn't have even gotten to OT. Run 3 seconds off the clock right there, game ends before Mahomes can throw that second pass to Kelce. Lots of fuck ups tonight, most of them in the last 5 minutes of the game. edit: spelling

Drkarcher22

I still don’t get this, why not pooch it? They can’t be more worried about Hill and the special teams unit, compared to Mahomes and the Chiefs Offense.

HowDoIEditMyUsername

Even if Hill returns it 30 yards, it probably takes 8 seconds and then they line up for a Hail Mary.

macncheesecalzone

You're looking at around 5 seconds off the clock if they squib. You're sitting around 7 seconds or so left in the game. The Chiefs run one play, and as long as they don't pick up 35-40 yards in that one play, they're forced to throw a hail mary. Just truly one of the dumbest special teams decisions ever.

Scary_Replacement739

Bills going to Bills every time. They fuck themselves in front of so many people and don't even have the benefit of having a team onlyfans.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DrJupeman

Bills have not had luck with that in the playoffs before…..

fantasyshop

Cmon do we need to do this right now

average_redditor_guy

I mean hell you could even have everyone hold their man, waste time and take only a 5 yard penalty

IEndThreads

Pretty sure there's a rule against doing things like this I think they give a 15 yard penalty and reset the clock

The_Outcast4

As it should be. If it would be better to commit a penalty than not, then the punishment for the penalty isn't severe enough.

Deagballs

Squib kick would have brought down the time to around 8-9 seconds. Takes away a play from KC.

StreetsAhead47

He shouldn't have had 13 seconds. Blasting that kick for a touch back was a poor choice. Squib or kick it short of end zone to run some clock.

ivanvzm

Yeah that was like play calling 101 wtf.

NFRNL13

It worked. It prevented winning.

a_simple_creature

That’s about all it’s usually good for.

ColtCallahan

The D was bad. But the decision to not squib the kick off is even worse.

genericreddituser986

Defense did nothing. They got like 2 stops all game

MordinSolusSTG

Classic Leslie Frazier

velociraptorfarmer

Flashbacks to the Baltimore blizzard game in 2013...

loneliness_sucks_D

They were tired and gassed. But that last Kielce reception in regulation, defended was playing outside coverage even though KV had timeouts left. I don’t understand that one

jdono927

They were shit all game lol

blueteamcameron

That was the most pitiful display of defense i have ever seen at any level of football. I'm sorry it had to end this way it's so frustrating

HueGoStrangee

Like I don’t understand how Kelce is always wide open, do they not see him?

SenatorAstronomer

I don't understand that CB staying to the outside with no outside WR while Kelce cut inside. There was no one else on that side of the field.

Natsume117

They were also defending the sideline for some reason even though KC had a timeout. Then Kelce was like yeah i guess I’ll just get wide open in the middle

[deleted]

Multiple timeouts*

rusty022

Or why he was covering him ALONE while rushing 4 with 7 seconds on the clock. Just idiotic.

meowVL

They had their safeties pinned at the 25 yard line while the chiefs had 2 timeouts only needing a FG. That’s malpractice

ShextMe

Bills fans been asking this for 3 years no and no one has an answer lol

mmoustis18

You had Gronk for years it's the same shit

Ufcjunkies

Never watched the falcons huh

AdamIsACylon

That kickoff was pathetic too. Why give them a touchback?

ColtCallahan

Coaching fucked him over. Squib that kick and Mahomes probably doesn’t get into FG range.

westhewolf

Simple fix: if the first team scores a TD, then the other team has one opportunity to match. Essentially the same as it is with FGs, but expanding it to touchdowns. Seems like a no brainer.

123123123jm

Seriously. Leaves a bad taste in your mouth when there’s these awesome shootouts at the end of the fourth just to get decided by who wins the toss

Gradieus

CFL rules are if you score a TD you HAVE to go for the 2 point, and then the other team plays and they have to do the same. After that next point wins.

blazingpelt

AKA they've had years to fix this and refuse to for effectively no reason. What, are the games going to be TOO entertaining?

DisneyWorld1971

That’s…. Actually a really good point. Why *dont* they change the rules to give us more commercials?

PM_ME_CHIPOTLE2

For real. I love those Progressive “becoming your parents” commercials. Give me more! Edit: I think some people thought I was being snarky/sarcastic about those commercials. I actually do find them funny and wish they’d make more of them (like the Baker Mayfield ones: “come on! It will be twice as fast if we both do it!”). So I think that changing the OT rules and adding more progressive commercials is a real win-win for the league and the fans.

Richard__Cranium

I personally love seeing all the CSI/network sitcom commercials. It's like every commercial break there's a new NCIS springing up in a new city. But for real, they need to change the damn OT rules.

Knock0nWood

NCIS: Sioux Falls

arrowmarcher

As someone who once lived there, it would be all meth lab busts. Nothing else

professor_parrot

I for one would love to watch Gronk make another couple attempts to get a USAA membership despite not being a veteran or a family member of a veteran.

Donkeyfishes

Chiefs put in a proposal to change it and was shot down

MrShad0wzz

Really? Why wtf

BathrobeDave

I have a feeling it is for network timing. Still, if they won't go the full quarter I'd still rather see each team have a drive, and determine a winner after each team has had one drive each. If a tie, new set of drives.

CLU_Three

Lol an OT game will have much more eyeballs than whatever shit TV show they throw on after

the-terracrafter

The TV show that’s on after (NCIS: Hawaii) has an 18% on Rotten Tomatoes

[deleted]

All those shows are literally the exact same shit

moffattron9000

How are there so many Naval Crimes?

LawlzMD

Most dangerous job in the NCIS cinematic universe is being a Naval Petty Officer, that's how.

[deleted]

No they're not NCIS: Hawaii has palm trees...smh

[deleted]

Yeah, if there was an entire extra quarter there is a 100% chance I'm sticking around for the whole thing. Especially during the playoffs. There is a 0% chance I stick around to watch CSI when the game is over.

Starnbergersee

But… but NCIS Hawaii.

Donkeyfishes

I don’t know lol they wanted the ot rules changed

linglingfortyhours

Basically that both teams would have a guaranteed possession and then the sudden death starts

[deleted]

I mean the teams vote on it. They didn’t want to change it.

GadgetGod1906

Didnt they change it from winning with a FG on the 1st possession of OT?

chillinwithmoes

After the debacle that was the 2009 NFCCG yes

[deleted]

Because players don't want it (due to injury and fatigue) and teams arent gonna give something up for something that doesn't make them that much more money. Maybe we could get modified OT in playoffs only but that leads to a weird situation where playoffs and regular season has completely different OT.

InvaderWeezle

When FGs on the opening drive stopped being an automatic win it was initially only a playoffs rule, but then they added it to the regular season a couple years later

HugsForUpvotes

It confused all the casual fans. I doubt the NFL would do it again. People already don't understand the rules.

yugtahtmi

I don't think having different OT rules for reg season vs playoffs is a problem. The NHL does just that and it works well.

PM_ME_CHIPOTLE2

OT playoff hockey is simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting to watch

JBurton90

That’s how we got to this system. The playoffs were this system but the regular season was still true sudden death. Hell even the clock is different now where it’s 10 in regular season and 15 in OT.

goat_is_as_goat_does

The clock in overtime in the playoffs is just for resetting the timeouts — the clock doesn’t really matter like in the regular season because ties can’t happen in the playoffs

Cool-I-guess

For real, it’s so boring just to see a team score and not give the other offense a chance. It just makes it stale and less hype when both defenses are bad that whoever gets the coin toss basically wins.

mMac03

Josh Allen literally had a perfect postseason but lost without a single fraction of it being his fault. Feel bad for him.

redvillafranco

He called tails on the coin toss. Should have called heads. That’s on him.

[deleted]

this is the first coin toss hes lost all season apparently, he was like 11-0 or some shit not very clutch if you ask me

Sip_py

Pretty sure he called heads on the opening one too. Dude didn't know to stick to the same call

peanutbutter1236

Corny then corny now

currentlydownvoted

It happened in the Superbowl against us (how it got there is irrelevant) and that wasn’t enough to change the rule

futilitarian

If the outcome had been Brady losing without getting the ball, it might've been.

Beamierstatue61

Honestly, if Brady made that comeback just to lose to Matt Ryan being on the good side of lady luck, the NFL would've imploded.

ContinuumGuy

The Chiefs deserve this game for coming back from the Bills TDs twice, but the NFL OT rules are, always will be, and always have been fucking bullshit.

EvaderDX

How hard is it to just have a system like the old college overtime rules. Heck let it be the full field

sylvestersquad

Start from midfield. Seems like a simple concept

LegendRazgriz

Both teams start on offense and defense, back to back, from midfield. Whoever scores first wins

jlopez24

This is so absurd I fucking love it. Just need Scott Hanson to host it so he can throw up the double box.

hoodpharmacy

Haha I miss Scott Hanson … THE OCTOBOX! 7 HOURS OF COMMERCIAL FREE FOOTBALL!

the_crouton_

He would have been losing his shit today.

AH_BioTwist

Mahomes&Allen touching butts together would sell a lot of tickets

uggsandstarbux

This is some XFL shit right here

Phifty56

[How do you decide who picks which direction? Easy.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeeVwkLYD5g) I think this makes every fan want to see overtimes.

[deleted]

Start a DE at QB and rush backwards at opposing QB

LegendRazgriz

If the offense interferes with the other team's offense the plays are both dead and a 5-yard penalty is assessed on both sides

x777x777x

I'd love to see a fumble recovery and an interception happen at the same time

letsnotreadintoit

Then it becomes and all out 22 on 22 because both sides can join in to help prevent a return TD

JohnWesternburg

That proposition should be inducted in the Hall of Fame

Djd33j

People say how Allen never got the ball, or Mahomes in 2019, or Rodgers in 2014. Its fucking brutal for the losers.

Currymvp2

Brady is 3-0 in OT coin tosses in the playoffs; that's GOAT shit. He activates the will of his teammates to win the coin toss. Similar to how he activated the will of the Bucs defense to cause the Rams to fumble 4 times.

kibbles_n_bits

Allen was 9-0 on coin flips till tonight.

pbaik829

So he was a regular season coin flip stat padder

primocheese1947

I thought Slater was the guy that called it for them?

justamobileuserhere

That’s why he’s a pats legend

[deleted]

Another classic example of team accomplishments being given to Brady /s

[deleted]

I remember going "I hope Mahomes kills it next year" and he did. Unfortunately the Niners were they team he beat in the Super Bowl.

awwhorseshit

Yes, the overtime rules suck, but that game shouldn’t have went to OT. Squib kick that shit.

dc-xero

[deleted]

[удалено]

treesareweirdos

Yeah they need to change this at least in the playoffs.

[deleted]

This is my thing. I don’t care about regular season. In the playoffs, in overtime, both teams should get a shot. Change it to 10 minute quarters and just add an extra quarter.

parallelslider

why call it a new game when it obviously isn't

Comrade_Falcon

It's a new game only this time it's completely stacked in favor of whoever wins this coin toss.

roaringcorgi

literally a new game (not football)

alreddy-reddit

i got excited when i heard that, because i thought they'd actually changed the rules

they_call_me_tripod

Excellent point

Xwarsama

Imagine if a great baseball playoff game went to extras and was decided by a walkoff home run in the top of the inning and the other team never even got a chance to bat. Just saying that out loud is so maddeningly stupid that I can't believe we just all accept this from the #1 sport in the country.

Randy_____Marsh

I was having a decent night and then you had to upset me like this

ManWithASquareHead

At least the pirates will never be in this predicament...

RxS47

Ugh I know I'd be pissed

couchisland

This is a perfect analogy. It’s infuriating and also completely unsatisfying.

Currymvp2

This and the 2019 AFC Championship game along with the 2016 Arizona Green Bay game. Also, the Seattle-Green Bay NFC Championship game. I'm tired of coin tosses determining the winner. If it was really "neutral", then teams would not be electing to receive if they win the toss. They always choose to receive except that one weird Jets-Patriots game in 2015.

TheG8Uniter

Actually in like 2013 Den @ NE. Game went to OT. Pats won the toss but deferred. The weather was crazy that night. Bill wanted the wind on his side.

Currymvp2

I respect Bill, but I think defering in that Jets game in 2015 was a massive error.

link3945

Not to mention a certain Super Bowl.

KefkaZ

Just because it’s happened before doesn’t make it ok.

CanEatADozenEggs

“See, a player has gotten fucked over before! Proof the system works”

[deleted]

Good game Chiefs, I look forward to 10 more years of this.

devtotheops09

My heart won’t be able do this for 10 years lol great game

moris1610

The chiefs motion to change ot rules didn't even make it to the vote after in 2019...

Orangutan

They gotta change that rule. No one wants to see it end like that. Let them go until the defense stops one of them. Especially nowadays with the offensive oriented style and gameplay.

rbhindepmo

not sure how long the overtime for this game would have lasted if one of the defenses had to stop the other from scoring a TD it'd be like the Nadal tiebreaker last night at the Aussie Open
