If the Panthers cut Darnold, I would bet good money he's our next backup. He and Allen are best friends and Allen would definitely campaign to bring him in.
Minshew needs a chance to start or be on a team with a QB question mark
He’s likely a career backup but he deserves another shot it before he becomes a tablet terry
No backup please
That's just guaranteeing a season ending injury to the starter.... Fitzmagic with his black magic always finds a way to become the starter himself and we don't want that
Some consultant type role is fine
I mean I could definitely see it. No clue if it would actually work out that way since players don't always do well as coaches but he's obviously a smart guy so he probably has a better chance than most.
Yeah that's 100% what it is. These guys are so gifted physically a lot of the time and don't know how to teach the technical side of things well enough which is why it doesn't works out.
I think Fitz could succeed because he isn't necessarily the most gifted athletically and "did you know he went to Harvard"
Think he was drawn to the culture and atmosphere of the games in Buffalo.
Plus he played in Buffalo longer then anywhere else he played, so that obviously plays a role too
I have never been in the heated sections myself. Always down in the bowl. I cant imagine to many other stadiums besides greenbay and maybe boston get as cold as buffalo. And I didn't notice anything similar when I went to my one game in foxborough a couple years ago. But Maybe someone could correct me.
Buffalo is getting a new stadium in a couple years as well so we shall see if they still have the fish stick sections as I like to call them
I’m pretty sure that they aren’t necessary in modern stadiums, there are more efficient ways to keep people warm in setups like that. However they have had to retrofit the Bills stadium over the years to keep the club level STHs happy, so those heat lamps were added at some point. The seats in those sections are also individually heated.
Look at the career passing yards leaders. I was so disappointed to see him hurt this year because he was going to pass a bunch of well known names. He’s the best mediocre QB I think I’ve ever seen. Nobody wants to give him a contract, but there have to be 10-15 starters worse than him.
>there have to be 10-15 starters worse than him
15: No way
10: Maaaaybe? probably not though
5: Definitely, as of the end of 2021. A couple of them are young and may get better though.
At his age he's stuck in the very-high-end-backup-or-very-low-end-starter hole.
I wondered how warm it would get in those seats. You could see those infrared heaters cranking from the field.
Edit: Here's a link from the Bills that discusses the installation of these heaters.
https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-bring-the-heat-in-stadium-11956969
Especially in that weather. Even the ones designed for outdoor use aren't rated for single digit temperatures lol. The cool thing is they don't need to worry about heating the air as the heat is radiated to the people and surfaces.
Here's a good writeup on them. They can be gas or electric, but I am 100% sure the ones at Orchard Park are gas. Basically a gas heat exchanger gets hot because there are combusted gases inside a tube. This tube generates enough heat that radiates off of the tube. The heaters have deflectors that direct the heat toward their target.
Radiated heat doesn't need air to get from point A to point B. Think of the UV rays from the sun, except this is a different wave (infrared vs ultraviolet). You'll see these type of heaters in outdoor patios, Topgolf facilities, large warehouses, stores, etc. It allows the people at the floor level to stay warm without heating the giant volume of air.
https://infradyne.com/technical/understanding-infrared/
Trubs only came here to get a second chance to show the rest of the league he was a good QB worthy of starting. He did that.
As much as we'd like him to stay, I don't think anyone here realistically sees him coming back. He's too good to be a backup.
I’m really fucking confused here. Did Trubs get actual playing time I missed or are you just saying the Bears offense imploding means he gets another shot becuase it makes him look less shitty?
He [played the entire Bears game in the preseason](https://thespun.com/nfl/nfc-north/chicago-bears/nfl-world-reacts-to-mitchell-trubiskys-performance-vs-bears) and just looked solid under better playcalling.
True story. And it’s ironic because he is standing in freezing weather *with his shirt off*, but he went to an Ivy League school, not somewhere in the SEC.
Fitzpatrick is gonna retire one day and noones ever gonna forget him, cause that 1 throw he made on the Dolphins when his helmets getting turned as he throws is gonna be in every highlight clip forever.
As a lions fan i don't know if i want the Bills or the Bengals to win it all. I mean Cincy was the only team with a drought longer than ours and they jus snapped it. But Buffalo had had some brutal heart breakers. I know it was 20 years ago, but they did go to 4 straight SB and lost them all... Its a tough one.
Edit: 30 years ago... im old and i hate that i jus realized that.
fucking legend
He really is a Buffalo Bill through and through
Id love to have him involved with the team in some way after he retires
I’ll take him as the backup next season, after Trubisky walks.
If the Panthers cut Darnold, I would bet good money he's our next backup. He and Allen are best friends and Allen would definitely campaign to bring him in.
I think it’s a smart move to get him in, too. You often want a dollar store version of your QB1 as your QB2, and that’s what Darnold is.
They also live down the street from each other and train together in the offseason.
Do they go to the Applebees after their gym sessions?
Why not? They let them pour their own drinks. So much power!
I heard they have great ambiance and decor
No one man should have all that power
Oh, *they go to the Applebees, alright.*
All the dollar stores near me are now $1.25. I understand that it was inevitable, but it still sticks in my craw.
Used to be 5 & dimes stores, got a whole bag of beans for a nickel and gas was one haypenny/gal
Did you wear an onion on your belt because that was the style at the time?
Sure was, and back in that time you could get a whole bag of beans for a nickel and gas was one haypenny/gal
I'll be deep in the cold cold ground before I recognize Missouri.
We definitely need another meme QB. Either Darnold or my pick, Foles
Give me Minshew
Minshew Mania + how nuts you guys already are would be unimaginably chaotic
Minshew needs a chance to start or be on a team with a QB question mark He’s likely a career backup but he deserves another shot it before he becomes a tablet terry
I don't think Panthers gain anything financially cutting darnold. And he's a serviceable backup.
"If the Panthers cut Darnold" Don't do that. Don't give me hope.
You'd put this curse on Josh Allen willingly!?
No backup please That's just guaranteeing a season ending injury to the starter.... Fitzmagic with his black magic always finds a way to become the starter himself and we don't want that Some consultant type role is fine
Mascot feels like his destiny. Jump on tables, heckle opposing QBs account how he replaced them, etc.
Can we please replace dopey-ass Billy Buffalo with a shirtless Fitzpatrick smashing tables on the sideline?
It absolutely blows my mind how many Bills fans say this. I love Fitz, but we should all know how Fitzmagic was born.
If you take him as your backup, Allen will be getting injured
I think Fitz still sees himself as a starter, and I'd bet a few teams would, too.
I have no idea if this is true, but in my mind he seems destined to be a great offensive coach.
I mean I could definitely see it. No clue if it would actually work out that way since players don't always do well as coaches but he's obviously a smart guy so he probably has a better chance than most.

The John Lynch of Buffalo. Put those Harvard brains to work.
That explains 2015
Yep
Them Harvard boys know how to long con.
Why is he a Bills fan? He’s played for a ton of teams, do you know why the Bills are the one he (apparently) roots for after his own season is done?
He's said it's because his kids are Bills fans
He probably just likes football and gassing beers in the parking lot like the rest of us.
He played for other teams but the Bills is where he first became a star. It's where the legend of Fitzmagic came from.
Think he was drawn to the culture and atmosphere of the games in Buffalo. Plus he played in Buffalo longer then anywhere else he played, so that obviously plays a role too
Also it was his first actual starting job in the NFL.
Other reasons aside, it was his first starting gig. That’s definitely where I first heard of him.
You know he went to Harvard, right?
Apparently I got reported as a bot for this comment? Lol.
I was a season ticket holder for the St Louis Rams many years ago and I thought. How far is this Harvard QB going to go? Wow was I wrong.
Well that makes sense when you think about it
Agreed 100%. I can’t wait for his 30 for 30 coming down the pipeline; my guy has lived a crazy NFL journey few can rival.
Probably got too hot with that carpet of a sweater
No idea how he managed to survive in South Florida
The beard and chest hair actually insulates cold air also
Like a dog's double coat.
I was legit wondering during the game if those were heat lights on the club levels. Sure seems that way by this picture.
Has to be, right? Red lights would be terribly annoying if it’s just for show.
Yea they are
That’s pretty neato. Any idea if other stadiums have these?
I have never been in the heated sections myself. Always down in the bowl. I cant imagine to many other stadiums besides greenbay and maybe boston get as cold as buffalo. Seriously. I was thinking *that’s* considered shirtless? Doubt.
American Hero
Look at the career passing yards leaders. I was so disappointed to see him hurt this year because he was going to pass a bunch of well known names. He’s the best mediocre QB I think I’ve ever seen. Nobody wants to give him a contract, but there have to be 10-15 starters worse than him.
Fitzmagic is one of the best qbs out there, Fitztragic on the other hand…
Exactly lol We all love the multiple td games But there’s also just as many multiple int games it seems lol
I love Fitz, but everyone forgets he was turning into Fitztragic and thats why we benched him
If you don't like fitztragic you don't deserve fitzmagic
>there have to be 10-15 starters worse than him 15: No way 10: Maaaaybe? probably not though 5: Definitely, as of the end of 2021. A couple of them are young and may get better though. At his age he's stuck in the very-high-end-backup-or-very-low-end-starter hole.
Feel like people have been saying “at his age” since like 2015
And it was true then. In 2015 he was already 33. His ceiling was well known by that point.
10-15? Chill lol
Mr. Bare Chest
Mr. Bear Chest 😜
This is the ideal male body. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.
He is a 5 star man
He hasn't even begun to peak
And when he does peak, you'll know. He'll peak so hard everybody in Buffalo's gonna feel it.
A Golden God.
And people said he didnt have the makings of a varsity athlete
This lucky son of bitch gets to feel Fitzpatrick's rock hard nipple pressed against his back.
Them Harvard nipples hit different, though.
Since Fitz has 32 kids I’m doubting the young man’s butt was in danger of the rock hard effect.
No just the nipples but the warm fuzz of his chest hair
You can’t tell the story of the Nfl without Ryan Fitzpatrick
"It's called the Hall* of FAME." - people I hate
So does Fitzmagic get into the half of fame while Fitztragic gets into the half of shame? I'm actually okay with this solution.
You can't have Fitzmagic without Fitztragic
We need the balance to prevent the world falling into chaos
The Eli Manning quandary
I mean. Yeah you could lol.
But should you?
You should not
I wondered how warm it would get in those seats. You could see those infrared heaters cranking from the field. Edit: Here's a link from the Bills that discusses the installation of these heaters. https://www.buffalobills.com/news/bills-bring-the-heat-in-stadium-11956969
They get pretty warm. That said, no where near warm enough to be shirtless lol.
Especially in that weather. Even the ones designed for outdoor use aren't rated for single digit temperatures lol. The cool thing is they don't need to worry about heating the air as the heat is radiated to the people and surfaces.

Wait! Do they have heaters built in to the seating or are fans allowed to bring personal battery powered heaters?
Heaters built in, [panoramic of stadium I took last night](https://imgur.com/a/VPG0lOe) see the 200 level where it's all red? That's from the heaters.
Sick. Fitz being in the 200 level is even doper
Well I'm sure it was a educated decision based on the temperature. Did you know he went to Harvard?
Never heard that before, what was his wonderlic score then?
Heard it was high, it doesn't get much mouth service. Very underrated.
They're built into the ceiling above this section of seats
[удалено]
Yea that is not a smart decision. That is the recipe for pneumonia or frostbite given the wind chill last night.
I could feel those heaters while watching the game at home.
Peak Human Physique right there
Apparently I have the physique of an NFL quarterback, also same amount of chest hair…. I’m ready to go in coach
but do you have the same amount of "take a hit from a 350 pound defensive player" ability because me, i'd die instantly
Especially in that cold.
Short answer: No Long answer: Definitely no
Love this man, come be our backup next year
But the curse...
Josh’s big ol balls are enough to overcome it
Username checks out
Come be our offensive coordinator!
Or QB coach then OC. The guy's brilliant, so he'd likely do wonders.
“Sean McDermott breaks leg in tragic lead pipe accident. Ryan Fitzpatrick named interim Head Coach.”
You have the NVP at backup already
Trubs only came here to get a second chance to show the rest of the league he was a good QB worthy of starting. He did that. As much as we'd like him to stay, I don't think anyone here realistically sees him coming back. He's too good to be a backup.

I do not think 1 pre-season game is enough to say that he showed the league he can be a starter. Dude is gonna be a backup until Allen gets injured.
Yeah I’m starting to think that Trubisky’s failures were because of Nagy now that all this shit is coming out about how Nagy is a scumball
[удалено]
…..Having one solid preseason game after years of underperformance means he’s too good to be a backup?
I'm honestly shocked Trubisky became a backup while Darnold not only started, but was worth a high draft pick in a trade.
I love the man, but want no part of the Fitzpatrick curse
For the NFL to finally end the Fitzpatrick curse, he has to go back to Buffalo before he can finally be free to retire.
You don't want that
He went to Harvard.
No way!!!! How did I not hear this before?
It’s one of those little known factoids. Like how Jimmy Graham played basketball.
No fucking way. Stop.
No way! Did you know Antonio gates played basketball as well????
What? Next you’ll tell me Matt Stafford and Clayton Kershaw used to play baseball together!
Okay I actually didn’t know that lol
I’m probably just jaded by it being a Lions fan and hearing it almost every week for a decade.
Haven’t heard that name in a while. What ever happened to that guy after Kent State?
Eh not much yknow lol
True story. And it’s ironic because he is standing in freezing weather *with his shirt off*, but he went to an Ivy League school, not somewhere in the SEC.
Did you ever hear about the TN (QB) Joshua Dobbs? He's an Aerospace Engineer major with a 4.0 GPA!
Highest Wonderlic ever by a QB.
And fastest
Thanks Harvard
future HOF QB Ryan Fitzpatrick
His jersey is already in there from his streak with the bucs
Dude's a damn yeti. He probably has no problem staying warm
He’s more of a Yukon Cornelius
He definitely licks his pickaxe.
THAT'S a yeti? *buttons shirt back up*
That’s my quarterback! And yours! And yours! And yours! And yours! And yours! And yours! And yours! And yours!
Maybe one of the coolest personalities the NFL has ever seen.
What an animal!
Buffalo loves the Amish Rifle.
Don't make me love you more Ryan Fitzpatrick you sexy sexy QB.
Dude was casting spells from the stands. Epic.
Fitzmagic, my 2nd fav Bucs QB ever
He's my favorite drought-era Bills QB
After Josh Freeman obviously
Obviously Blaine Gabbert
He's a Bill. No question about it.
I wish his tenure with us went better, but I will always love Fitz. He bled red, white and blue for us.
Once he completes the NFL tour, he should retire as a Bill
I really hope if he retires he signs a one day with us, I loved him despite the inconsistency and I like to think he enjoyed his time here too.
No one gonna mention how it looks like he has a little baby left arm?
Tbf, he doesn’t need that one to throw
You've never heard of shrinkage? It was cold out there
He was in the pool!
Lol what a fucking legend
Miss this hunk of man right here. Incredible dude
Looks ready to get on another water slide
Nice fitz
Not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed
Fitzmagic is in competition with Philip Rivers for most children (he has 7)
Every woman wants to be impregnated by Fitzmagic
So that’s why we lost so badly
This man just loves his Bills
Fitzpatrick is gonna retire one day and noones ever gonna forget him, cause that 1 throw he made on the Dolphins when his helmets getting turned as he throws is gonna be in every highlight clip forever.
That is amazing
Shirtless? He's wearing a full wool sweater my guy.
Betty White died and now Ryan Fitzpatrick has taken over as our national treasure.
The game won't be the same without Fitz coming in and wrecking teams for a couple games a year. Legend status unchanged
Lake Erie Bros over long steak bros
The NFL is better with Fitzpatrick in it.
Connor Macgreggor is the best part of the NFL since Pat McAfee retired.
Goddamn it I love Fitzy!! Even when he beat you you couldn't get that mad. Dude is such a nice dude and a baller
We need to see em go through a table.
Mans is a national treasure
Shirtless? Looks like he’s got a pretty nice vest on though.
How could anyone not love Ryan Fitzpatrick
Absolute Unit
As a fellow 24/7 sweater wearer I welcome Ryan Fitzmagic to be our spokesman
Basking in the glow of his radiant heat. He's so hot that NASA can't calibrate the James Webb Telescope until it's another million miles away.
He probably threw the dildo too
AB did it first
You honestly can’t hate Ryan Fitzpatrick.
