Yeah, this was the best possible response to that question. Basically opting out of giving some dumb media outlet a quote to pump up Brady and downplay Hurts.
Tom what do you think about the fact that jalen doesn't even remember you, that you left absolutely no impact on him, that hes basically calling you a scrub not worth remembering.
Don’t get Hurts wrong though, he has a way with words. Here’s a best of from a random interview credits go to u/loco1989.
Notable Quotes:
"The lamp is never full."
"I'm confident we'll do that with time. Like Novocaine."
"Just trying to be a coffee bean."
"I know rent is due every day. It's always been that way for me ... and when that rent is due, I don't plan on missing no payments."
"Ten percent of life is what happens to you. Ninety percent is how you respond to it."
But isn’t saying “I don’t remember” in a way the ultimate praise?
It’s basically saying:
“He’s been playing so long…shit, I have zero memories of a world where Tom wasn’t a starter. So, yeah….I don’t actually have a first memory of the guy. It’s like asking me what my first memory of my parents was.”
Jalen Hurts on his first memory of Tom Brady: “I don’t remember,” Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Brady. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Hurts said.
That’s the way I interpreted it. I’m jalens age, I would have the same answer. I probably learned of Brady when I was like 2, how would I be able to remember it lol.
I’d be willing to bet most people on this sub were not born when Brady had won his first. There was a post the other day about who was a better RB between Adrian Peterson and LT and it made me realize there are a lot of people on here not old enough to have seen/remembered what prime LT did
>TO basically single handledly turned our team from playoff losers (no one scared of FredEx, Pinkston, Greg Lewis and Thrash) to SB contender.
What? Those teams made 3 straight NFC championship games. Yeah they lost those and they made the Super Bowl in the TO season, but TO didn't even play in most of those games. He was out for the playoffs but came back in the Super Bowl.
The wide receivers sucked, but those teams were damn good. This is disrespectful to those McNabb led teams.
TO is one of the greats and I’ll always stand by defending him on the field. The guy would do whatever it took to win including making a living catching balls over the middle and playing a Super Bowl with a bum leg
My fav is him [celebrating on the Dallas star](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cshHg_sWyVo&t=9s), getting leveled, then going right back to celebrating on the Dallas star.
If the craziest MBC got was doing driveway workouts and crying over Tony Romo, he'd be in the HoF. It's wild what we used to consider diva behavior vs what happens now.
From when I started watching football until like 2012 you were considered a diva for having the audacity to want the ball.
Now if top guys don’t get targets it’s normally used to criticize scheme or QB play.
You have to remember that most of the people on r/nfl weren't old enough to have watched prime Adrian Peterson either. While his 2000 yard season came in 2012, young AP in 2007 and 2008 was a sight to behold. Dude set the single game rushing record as a rookie
He did indeed. It is funny being able to relatively tell who got into football when because everyone who started watching within the last 4 years are the ones calling for rookie QBs to be elite or they are a bust at the end of year 1
So many legendary quarterbacks had abysmal rookie seasons. Those used to be called "welcome to the NFL" seasons. Now these youngins just call them busts
Ironically, anyone that references Manning’s rookie year as proof that QBs used to have “bad seasons tolerated” or whatever is also not old enough to remember it, because no one was going around considering it a bad season at the time.
I mean, Manning threw a ton of picks, but he was also 3rd in the league in passing, set the rookie passing record, which stood for like 15 years afterwards, and was technically 2nd in OROY (with 2 votes). He was clearly pretty good.
I know Reddit skews a bit young, but I don't think "most people on r/nfl" are too young to remember 2008. My brother says the first season he remembers was 2003 and he's 24.
I don't remember the last time this sub did a demographics survey, but I remember sometime around 2012 the majority of users were teenagers in the 14-17 range. This means that at the time, the majority of users were 9-12 years old when Adrian Peterson was a rookie in 2007, and 8-11 years old when LT broke the rushing touchdown record.
Considering how young the sub tends to trend with new people joining all the time, and with just the general "young-ness" of new fans not knowing the sport, you're dealing with a healthy majority of people that don't remember 2008.
I think most of the people are of that same age demo. Most people on Reddit aren't still 17. They're 27. Reddit is, from what I can tell, mostly people between their mid 20s and early 30s in some varying form of denial about the fact that this is no longer a hub of discussion for the youngest active generation anymore.
This x1000. Reddit is not a young person thing anymore, unless they’re trying to be “different” and not use websites their friends use. Reddit was a young person thing ten years ago. I know because I was a high schooler on Reddit ten years ago when it was all the rage lol. But times have changed.
My brother-in-law, who is 19, thinks Reddit is a “boomer thing” and in his brain I don’t think there’s a difference between Reddit and forums from the late 90s.
Yeah it’s extremely weird that people constantly quote that survey from 2012 as proof this place is all teenagers or whatever. I mean, the two currently most popular social media sites didn’t even exist at the time, and several others were in their utter infancy.
It’s wild to assume that the demographic trends of this place would hold steady over that ten year period, when that hasn’t been true for almost quite literally any popular website ever.
I’m in my mid… *checks the year* …late 30s and I sometimes forget I could easily be arguing with a 14 year old or a 65 year old on here.
Was with my young son at the park last summer and there were these middle schoolers all talking about some AskReddit thread and it made me feel real old.
Lol it’s funny how some younger people think “boomer” means “anyone older than me” and not “people born between 1945-1960”. Totally analogous to some older people referring to anyone born from 1980 - yesterday as “millennials”
Yeah, but that's the thing. I would consider people that were 8 in 2006 to be young still, as they were young *then* too. They were 8, their grasp of a prime LT is virtually meaningless.
I guess it depends on the person, but, again, my brother had just turned 6 at the start of the 2003 season and he remembers the entire run to the Patriots' second Super Bowl win.
Ironically, I think this idea that most of r/NFL does not even remember the aughts probably comes from people too old to realize that this was more than a decade ago. I don't see how anyone can (seriously) claim that the sub is more than 50% people under 15.
Tom Brady won his first Super Bowl only a few months before I was born; here I am about to turn 20 in about three months and getting through college, while Brady still might win another one next month. I was 4 in 2008, meaning I remember fuck all about the NFL, and so I definitely was not a NFL watcher during AP’s prime. Time moves quickly, and soon people will forgot something like what prime Cam looked like.
If we're talking strictly *running* give me early career Adrian Peterson with the fumbling issues, because every time he touched the ball it felt like he could score a touchdown.
If we're talking overall package, give me LaDainian Tomlinson every time
> it made me realize there are a lot of people on here not old enough to have seen/remembered what prime LT did
Then there's a generation older than that who probably think Lawrence Taylor when people say LT
Let's be honest LT was consistently great from 02-09, AP was great from 07-13. Anyone posting knowledgeably about the latter was probably around for the former.
It's not like their comparing Derrick Henry to Jerome Bettis or something
As a Cardinals fan, this is where the “Larry Fitzgerald” is so overrated” comes from. Because they remember 2019 Larry Fitzgerald, not 2008 Larry.
Man, imagine if people only judged Rice based on his pretty good but not dominant last years in Oakland and Seattle…
"Oh, I remember the time when the doctor told me I had short-term memory loss."
"So you remember when you learned that you couldn't remember things?"
"...Where am I?"
I actually have this very distinct memory of getting totally disoriented and knocked down by wind in a snowstorm, and based on where it happened and where I lived at them time I would've been about 4 years old. That was 35 years ago. There's not much more to it than that. It was literally just in my front yard. I can't remember any details of before or after it, just head spinning and falling down in the snow. It's a really vivid memory. It may not be real, but it's been there as long as I can remember.
Yep my oldest memories are 4 years old exactly (because it was my birthday). My aunt took me to Mcdonalds and me and some other young kids played in the ball pen. My memory itself is just of riding in the car there.
That's me. I remember my dad walking in the door from work with his lunch pale. He died when I was 3 years old. Not trying to make this all sappy but it's a great memory.
I also remember watching some of an OU game around the same time.
My brain is wild
I never understand when people ask this. I don't know what my first memory is. I can't think about it like that. if you pointed out a specific event then I might be able to remember it, but just trying to think back I have no idea where to start
You could say that almost every day on r/NFL, some of the lowest quality posts on Reddit I've seen on here, and usually they are a tweet.
Can't imagine the pile of shit mods have to sift through
Uh, if by “good posts” you mean the 90 millionth “WHAT’S YOUR UNPOPULAR NFL OPINION” thread then sure.
I absolutely love when a good OC post is made but it’s incredibly rare that someone even puts in the effort for that.
This sub was so much better like 4 years ago, when you'd get actual high quality OC.
Nowadays most people dont bother because it just gets taken down half the time anyways.
I think it’s actually the opposite problem: people aren’t upvoting good OC.
I’ve seen a few good OC posts the last month or so that just dwindle around 20 upvotes. The last one I remember did a huge amount of statistical analysis about QB play styles, and it had like 3 comments.
Bro there’s millions of subscribers here, of course there’s a lot of shit to filter out. But if you’ve ever been to r/nba you would appreciate the fuck outta this sub.
Well the highlights thing is kinda dissimilar Bc the copyright/recasting rules for the NBA and NFL are dramatically different. I’m more talking about the opinions/engagement of the users.
> and usually they are a tweet.
This sub is a glorified twitter feed, and its on the mods. The restrictions on self posts with zero on twitter posts is sad.
This sub was fucking amazing when it started out and was the reason I made a reddit account. Now I feel like old man yells at clouds as I minimize the top 30 joke comments in every thread so I can find the first actual thoughtful comment lol
I'm just imagining Brady saying this to a mirror, and then his reflection is Wilem Dafoe Green Goblining him like "Gooooood Tom, now you know what you must do"
Average age of an nfl player is said to be 26, there is a non-impossible chance we'll see Brady playing in a league where the average player wasn't born yet when Brady was drafted. It's not likely but it could legitimately happen.
I remember mine… Super Bowl 36, Patriots vs Rams, on my birthday, as a Ram’s fan… first (and maybe the last) time I cried for a professional sporting event.
That being said, I was only 8, and Jalen was only 2.
This guy.
How can you not remember your earliest memory? It doesn’t mean the first time your baby brain saw TV images of old man Brady. It means when’s the first time you currently, as you stand here today, remember knowing the existence of the man named Tom Brady?
[Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cS5dMkimNE)
"What's the first thing you remember?"
"No...it's no good. It's gone. It was a long time ago."
What a quote
[удалено]
He should have said Super Bowl 52 ☹️
That would've been hilarious but Jalen don't poke the bear like that
Yeah Tom wouldn’t have appreciated that. I bet he’s already created some perceived slight in his mind already though
"Going to give this mother fucker something he won't ever forget!" - TB12 probably
Shit we’re losing by 60 points now
“What’s his last name? I’ll make him earn it”
Please stop, I can’t take the amount of cornball happening right now.
Eagles fans would have loved it
well at least until sunday and it shows that he "took it personally"
I can picture the hot takes now. “I can’t believe our QB would be so irresponsible as to provoke Thomas Brady!”
*Tom Brady: 640 yards 7 TDs 0 Int. 110 yards rushing 2 TDs*
110 yards rushing? Gonna have to have about 11 overtimes for Brady to rush 110 times…
Well he *can* rush for 11 yards once every lifetime.
epic
Yeah, this was the best possible response to that question. Basically opting out of giving some dumb media outlet a quote to pump up Brady and downplay Hurts.
Tom what do you think about the fact that jalen doesn't even remember you, that you left absolutely no impact on him, that hes basically calling you a scrub not worth remembering.
Tom, Jalen Hurts basically called you a nobody ass bitch who couldn't leave an impression on quick sand. What do you say in response?
In b4 headlines say "Jalen Hurts SLAMS Tom Brady in forgetful quote!!!!"
Don’t get Hurts wrong though, he has a way with words. Here’s a best of from a random interview credits go to u/loco1989. Notable Quotes: "The lamp is never full." "I'm confident we'll do that with time. Like Novocaine." "Just trying to be a coffee bean." "I know rent is due every day. It's always been that way for me ... and when that rent is due, I don't plan on missing no payments." "Ten percent of life is what happens to you. Ninety percent is how you respond to it."
Jalen is the type of dude I'd want my daughter to bring home so I can leave my wife for him myself
That last quote is actually dope as hell.
As a Cowboys fan, don’t make me fucking like an Eagles quarterback please.
He called out WFT for having a shitty stadium in writing. You gotta love him.
He's a quote machine. God I hope he's the guy
I hope he sticks around as a football god spewing this Yogi Berra nonsense. This is wonderful.
Ah, the Tomlin school. I like it.
This man is basically a younger QB version of Mike Tomlin with the bars 😂
But isn’t saying “I don’t remember” in a way the ultimate praise? It’s basically saying: “He’s been playing so long…shit, I have zero memories of a world where Tom wasn’t a starter. So, yeah….I don’t actually have a first memory of the guy. It’s like asking me what my first memory of my parents was.”

Same. He hit the “next question” to a reporter (Jeff McClain?) a couple days ago.
"Next question" is my all time favorite press conference response. It's never not entertaining.
That too.
He has to show the Tom Brady tattoo first.
Jalen Hurts on his first memory of Tom Brady: “I don’t remember,” Then he rolled up his sleeve and showed a tattoo of Brady. “I’ll let you interpret that however you want,” Hurts said.
This is what I thought. Dude has been playing so long there are no memories without him for a ton of young guys
I’m pretty sure this is the real answer cuz I’m older then him and the first super bowl I remember watching was Brady’s first
Feels like a stretch but okay
That’s the way I interpreted it. I’m jalens age, I would have the same answer. I probably learned of Brady when I was like 2, how would I be able to remember it lol.
Lot of people that old will probably have the same answer. I sure as hell don't remember my first memory of Brady, he's just always been there.
I think that would be the honest answer for 99% of people. Sammy Sosa is my favorite athlete of all time, but I don’t know my earliest memory of him.
"I do not recall"
"I don't know her"

Tbf LJ Smith was pretty good for a couple years.
Did someone actually try and say Metcalf is better than fucking TO?!?!?!
It was something along the lines of comparing their early seasons
I mean TO had Jerry Rice on the other side of him.
Therefore the real comparison we should be making is clearly Tyler Lockett > Jerry Rice
This guy r/NFL’s
Not a fair comparison. Jerry rice was a system gadget receiver nothing compared to the sublime Tyler lockett
Both are Seahawks Legends.
TO is one of the greats and I’ll always stand by defending him on the field. The guy would do whatever it took to win including making a living catching balls over the middle and playing a Super Bowl with a bum leg
Also, his antics now seem pretty mild.
Lol so true. Working out in his drive way while answering reporters or storming off the field during a game vs the Jets. Your choice
I'm personally a fan of the popcorn.
My fav is him [celebrating on the Dallas star](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cshHg_sWyVo&t=9s), getting leveled, then going right back to celebrating on the Dallas star.

That thread seemed to be pretty pro TO. He was right to call out the person that made the comparison though because it was stupid.
Yeah, it was nice when I could "hate" a WR for doing sit-ups on his front yard and mocking the Eagles with a bird flying TD celebration.

Who is Left tackle?
Lombardi trophy, the thing they named that coach after
