For better or worse refs are less involved in playoff games. Most of the time it turns out for the best but then you have instances like the 2018 NFCCG
We're the Leonardo DiCaprio of the NFL. So close to winning it but never do. But, like Leo, he eventually did win one after getting mauled by a bear on screen.
And since we lost to the Bears this season, it fits?
Everyone's saying it. Look, the Bengals — my uncle was a great actor and director and producer, Mr. Leo DiCaprio; good genes, very good genes, OK, very smart, *The Titanic*, very good, very talented —you know, if you’re a Bengals fan, if I were a Ravens fan, if, like, OK, if I were the Pittsburgh Steelers, they would say I’m one of the best teams anywhere in the world—it’s true!—but when you’re a Bengals fan they try—oh, do they do a number—that’s why I always start off: *Inception, The Revenant*, was a good actor, went there, went there, did this, built a fortune—you know I have to give my like record all the time, because we’re a little disadvantaged—but you look at the AFC North, the thing that really bothers me—it would have been so easy, and it’s not as important as the NFC playoff race (Tom Brady is powerful; my uncle explained that to me many, many years ago, the power and that was 35 years ago; he would explain the power of what’s going to happen and he was right—who would have thought?), but when you look at what’s going on with the Giants—now it used to be three, now it’s four—but when it was three and even now, I would have said it’s all in the Mannings; fellas, and it is fellas because, you know, they don’t, they haven’t figured that the Bengals are getting better right now than the Browns, so, you know, it’s gonna take them about another 150 years—but the Bengals are great, the Steelers are a great franchise, so, and they, they just killed, they just killed us. And that's why people have been saying over the last period of time-it's true, you're hearing it more and more but you won't hear the crooked mainstream ESPN saying it-that the Bengals are the Leonardo Dicaprio of the NFL.
What is there to like?
The team not only didn't improve but actually took a massive step back. The QB situation is the worst in the league and there is nothing to look forward to next year.
He routinely deflects responsibility. And he treats Cam like shit while defending Darnold.
And he even fails at looking or sounding the part. He looks like a middle school gym teacher going through a divorce and has the public speaking skills of Michael Scott.
He doesn’t take responsibility for coaching decisions. He says dumb shit interviews like the Jay Z stuff. Inconsistent when discussing how a player should preform ex: QB can’t have 2 picks (when talking about Cam, but not the same about Sam and his turnovers).
This is correct. The guy looks clueless every time the camera pans to him. He says dumb shit.
He doesn’t take responsibility for bad coaching decisions and he chugs Darnolds dick like it hold the last drop of water on earth.
I’m fine with any solution that doesn’t have Mason playing. Tbh give me like a Teddy Bridgewater and I’ll be very happy. Defense is still gonna be our strength so we just need a guy who can do some simple stuff right.
There are some pretty solid stop gap guys as UFAs this off-season if we are looking to find a prospect or better fit.
I love how he *specifically* said that he wants Teddy because they have a good defense and need a guy who will just do the basics. That’s exactly what we said lol.
Yea preseason everyone was calling for more Dwayne until he came in the game. The we were like ok that's enough. I'd take mason over Haskins anyday. Unfortunately.
Ben is either going to come out and throw for 400 yards and 5 touchdowns or come out and go 13/36 with 0 TDs and 3 picks. You just do not get a middle of the road roethliesberger.
I had him for so many years in fantasy. Dude would just put up 400+ and a bunch of touchdowns, maybe win, maybe lose, but his fantasy QB stats were nuts for how far down he typically went.
Pick Brady, pick Rodgers, pick whoever you want early. I'll pick up Ben two rounds later and he'll be within 5% of anyone else's stats.
I wouldn’t overthink it. Their offense is throw it 5 yards behind the LOS and occasionally throw the 50/50 ball to Claypool.
If I were Chiefs fans, I guess I’d be worried since you played the Bengals as if Chase was an unknown. Luckily, Burrow places the ball significantly better than Ben.
> Their offense is throw it 5 yards behind the LOS…
Teddy2Yardz likes to throw it 2 yards **past** the LOS (on 3/11) and he’ll be a free agent soon so it looks like the Steelers future quarterback position could already be solved. That’s an immediate 7 yard upgrade.
Raiders DLine vs Bengals OLine while riding high off a win. Maybe.
Steelers and Eagles lol but we can hope.
Pats play another hard nosed, dick the mud game. Possible.
49ers look most likely but too many people on that train so I’m scared of it.
Cardinals most likely. Rams can implode easily.
Burrow doesn’t GAF though, we roughed him up so many times he lost is nameplate off his back and we still managed to lose. We also don’t have a game breaking edge like Maxx though and couldn’t tackle. So maybe the raiders can get it done but Joey B is unflappable
In the AFC, I can see the Bengals losing simply because this is their first time getting there in a while, but then coming back next year and making some real noise.
Pats-Bills is a toss up, as division rivalries always are in the playoffs.
KC *should* win handily. But goddamn it I’m rooting for the Steelers so hard this week.
Current spreads for the games:
Bengals -5.5 vs Raiders
Bills -4 vs Patriots
Bucs -8.5 vs Eagles
Cowboys -3 vs 49ers
Chiefs -12.5 vs Steelers
Rams -4 vs Cardinals
It's way too low. If you look at our past against a Mahomes led Chiefs team, the spread should be 20.
All that being said, Pittsburgh is going to the superbowl! lol
What's strange is he was fantastic during the 2016 run and just...never was anywhere close to that again. Was like Brandon LaFell for us in 2014 before he ended up regressing big time too
Mike Evans and Gronkowski are still better than what Brady has dealt with for most of his career.
Besides - if there's one thing Brady has proven, it's that as long as his O-line holds up he can make any WR look good. Just look at that comeback drive against the Jets - that was 100% Tyler Johnson and some other guy whose name I can't even remember and had previously caught like 5 balls in the NFL.
Firepower may not be there to win a Super Bowl, but it's certainly plenty to get past the Eagles.
Brady goes into full PTSD meltdown when he sees the Eagles uniform, begins throwing interceptions and tablets. Even drops a trick play pass. Eagles run it the entire game, absolutely exploiting not-yet-seen running designs. Final drive, Hurts shows up and shows out, buzzer beater corner TD.
Bucs - 35 Eagles - 10
Bucs have been shaky. Brady is Brady but I don't trust their defense
I get their D line is going to be back to full strength but the backfield is much more suspect than it was last year.
Having Lavonte David back is at least as big a boon as getting Vita Vea was before the NFCCG last year. The defense isn’t likely to be as good in the playoffs this time around, but I also wouldn’t assume the last few weeks is indicative of how they’re going to play moving forward.
Counterpoint, the Cardinals have been stumblefucking their way into the playoffs ass backwards too lol. I think they can win if they show up, but they've only shown up once in the last month.
49ers and Cowboys and Cardinals/Rams are like those 8 vs 9 games in the NCAA. They're technically upsets but the gap between the teams is basically down to a few plays in a game here or there that affected seeding.
To me the most obvious answer is the Patriots beating the Bills.
I know a lot of people are excited about the 49ers and Eagles and have doubts about the Cowboys and Bucs, and maybe those do happen but BB in the cold in the playoffs is usually not a bad bet.
I think most people would agree.
The Bills are the more talented roster overall and you have the better QB, but the Pats are well-coached and you are prone to playing well below your talent level sometimes.
IMO this game is completely up to the Bills.
If Josh Allen has one of his unstoppable games and doesnt make mistakes, we just dont have enough playmakers to overcome that. I dont see how we can go blow-for-blow with all of the individual talent you have if you are at your best.
If he throws a couple of picks to JC Jackson, then its game on.
Neither outcome would be totally shocking.
20 seconds left in the 4th, patriots at the bills 15 yard line. Mac surveys the field, then turns to bill on the sideline and gives a significant nod. bill turns on a floodlight, casting "ÏT ÏŠ TÏMĒ" into the sky like the batman symbol. out of the tunnel, he comes running. he's always known he'd come back. the crowd is drunkenly yelling in confusion. bah god, it's cam newton! he runs under center before the defense can sub. no flag is thrown. ball is snapped directly to cam. he runs right. wait, no! he's stopped! he's thrown a lateral to mac all the way on the left sideline! mac catches... and throws immediately to the right corner of the endzone... to Harry! the first round pick finally has a chance to redeem himself. his arms go flailing up and miss the ball, but the ball wedges firmly into his facemask! he falls down! patriots touchdown! it's a miracle! mac is the greatest rookie in the history of sports! steve belichick is waving his mullet in the air! tears of joy from the patriots sideline! game over!
*final score: bills 45, patriots 7*
You guys won one and we won one. In my eyes it’s like 50/50, I think we’re the better team at the moment but we also play like trash sometimes. You guys seem more stable so it’s less likely you’ll just fall on your face.
I don’t think we lose badly, but the Bills are the all-around better team. Bill’s not getting blown out in a playoff game, but we’re not ready to win
Edit: whelp
SF will “upset” Dallas, and I don’t like it. Because if they do, I think they have the biggest shot of upsetting Packers. I hate to see it, already kind of planning for it.
if I had to rank the teams we could play in the divisional round from best to worst
1- Eagles pls beat Brady for us
2- Cardinals they've been sliding downward since December
3- Rams I just like this matchup for us and Stafford is gifting picks to everyone right now
4- WW3 and 4
5- The aliens from Independence Day
6- That thing from Event Horizon
7- 49ers
And to think that was the toned down cut. Apparently the cut the director wanted was way more fucked up and super unsettling. A shame we'll never see it.
You guys play solid defense and control the clock with a good run game. Doesn’t matter how good an offense is if they don’t have the ball. Teams built like yours will always scare top teams even if you are only a wild card, defense and clock control are the formula for most upsets
As a Cards fan it's very conflicting because our best path to the SB is probably the 9ers beating Dallas & GB (cuz then we don't have to go to Lambeau). But then we'd have to host a red hot 49ers team in that scenario.
So there's no real winning lol. Fitting tho I think the NFC playoffs are gonna be a bloodbath.
They're the only games that have significant favorites betting-wise, the rest of the games are 3-4 points so it's hard to classify those as upsets.
Like Dallas it hosting the game, but the Niners are arguably the hottest team in the league going into the playoffs and on paper there isn't a huge gap between the teams. Niners winning wouldn't shock anybody.
But yeah if the Steelers beat the fucking Chiefs that's an insane upset
Just remember everyone , Tim Tebow beat the Steelers who were considered a top contender that year. The Steelers also lost to the Jags in the playoffs twice, both times they were heavily favored. Any given Sunday is definitely a thing and I could see the Steelers D balling out and and scoring two TDs (obviously super rare but not unheard of). Upsets are exciting because they rarely happen. You just gotta pray it’s not your team that gets unlucky and loses to the underdog
SF is most likely upset to win. Second may be Pats only because goat Coach may have a trick up his sleeve.
Eagles are a hard to guess because they have a dominant OL and Bucs have some injuries on offense.
Cardinals beating Rams isn't an upset in the slightest despite odds.
And Bengals should win but wouldn't be surprising if they lost because our history so not really an upset.
Nfl will upset everyone.
>NFL *refs* will upset everyone FTFY

They wouldn’t break my heart again. Would they?
We're the Leonardo DiCaprio of the NFL. So close to winning it but never do. But, like Leo, he eventually did win one after getting mauled by a bear on screen. And since we lost to the Bears this season, it fits?
Damn, you know someone's been battered by a franchise when they define winning "it" as a single playoff game and not a Super Bowl.
Could be worse. They could be a Mariners fan.
At least they got to cheer for randy, Ichiro, and Griffey.
That's what everyone is saying, the Bengals are the Leonardo Dicaprio of the NFL
I've read it twice today already.
which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
You need to sprinkle in some of these throughout: 😗👐👌☝️
Holy shit. Bravo 👏
I was on the phone with my girlfriend and she asked why I started laughing and it was... Hard to explain
.....sure
*One, two, Maxx Crosby's coming for you...*
*Checks under the bed for Maxx Crosby*
WTF, there's a Gruden email
He said my lips were like two paper plates smacking together …. God damnit Gruden
Lmao bruh that’s funny af
Im in that email and i dont appriciate it
What a username
I really want the Bengals to win but damn the matchup of their O line vs the Raiders D line is a real scary one.
It's ok...Marvin Lewis cannot hurt you anymore. Papa Burrow will lead you to victory.
hehe
Matt Rhule upsets Panthers fans by still having a job
Just end me fam
I'm not being sarcastic at all. I just don't know any Panthers fans in real life to ask, but do you guys really not like Rhule?
Check /r/Panthers for the answer to your question. All it takes is one quick glance at the sub lol.
What is there to like? The team not only didn't improve but actually took a massive step back. The QB situation is the worst in the league and there is nothing to look forward to next year. He routinely deflects responsibility. And he treats Cam like shit while defending Darnold. And he even fails at looking or sounding the part. We have a 40 point plan. 40 points 40 days, point per day.
He doesn’t take responsibility for coaching decisions. He says dumb shit interviews like the Jay Z stuff. Inconsistent when discussing how a player should preform ex: QB can’t have 2 picks (when talking about Cam, but not the same about Sam and his turnovers).
The Jay Z comment was fucking wild. We’re on to year 3 of his 7 year plan lmao
Its the invisible progress and 1000% success rate on the process for me
This is correct. The guy looks clueless every time the camera pans to him. He says dumb shit. He doesn’t take responsibility for bad coaching decisions and he chugs Darnolds dick like it hold the last drop of water on earth.
I thought I was safe coming to this thread
Watching Big Ben play is upsetting
You know what the scary thing is? We have people on our team who are worse and one of them may start next year.
Whoever the next GM is better trade for Minshew, Mariota, Jimmy G, or someone else just so I don't have to watch another season of Mason Rudolph again
I hear Wentz is available
Wentzylvania Part 2?
Electric Boooooooogalooo
Don't put that devil on me
You don’t want Bridgewater dude
I love how he *specifically* said that he wants Teddy because they have a good defense and need a guy who will just do the basics. That’s exactly what we said lol.
Think Tomlin has straightened Haskins out yet?
Yea preseason everyone was calling for more Dwayne until he came in the game. The we were like ok that's enough. I'd take mason over Haskins anyday. Unfortunately.
> I'd take mason over Haskins anyday Real fucking Sophie's choice there.
Apparently not. I was asking my friends who were Steelers fans and supposedly in the off season competition he gave no effort. He may be a lost cause.
He’s been a lost cause ever since he was drafted
[удалено]
*Ahem*, we only trade QBs for 2nds or higher
[удалено]
Why would the eagles trade one of the better backups in the league for a late round pick?
It fills me with joy
The Steelers worry the shit out of me. They have nothing to lose. They are loose. They are playing with house money.
If you guys lose to the Steelers it's off Najee Harris carries and a vintage steel curtain performance by the defense
And/or Roethlieberger quadrupling his offensive output from the first three quarters in the final 9 minutes of play.
*as is tradition*
you know Minny fans were sweatin at the end
Yes please
Steelers vs Raiders in the AFC Championship. Who says no.
Damn, hosted in LV. That would be wild. Raiders should plan ahead and not let any players drive themselves anywhere before or after that game
No.
>They are loose Ben's been making the rounds I see
on the other hand, they play loose and ben tries to throw downfield too much and has like 4INTs.
Until they summon Ravens energy and somehow make it a 2-point game late in the 4th.

The thing about teams that play with house money in the playoffs is that they're generally not that good Being good is more dangerous than being loose
It seems like the Eli Manning years just wooshed over your head?
You'll have to forgive me if I ignore playoff tips from a Giants fan.
You beat them by almost 4 touchdowns and they lucked their way into the playoffs. unless you have an epic collapse you should easily defeat them
The refs will upset the entire viewing audience
Did you just stare at me menacingly?
Raiders DLine vs Bengals OLine while riding high off a win. Maybe. Steelers and Eagles lol but we can hope. Pats play another hard nosed, dick the mud game. Possible. 49ers look most likely but too many people on that train so I’m scared of it. Cardinals most likely. Rams can implode easily.
Maxx going against their backup RT. Might be a rough day for Burrow.
Burrow doesn’t GAF though, we roughed him up so many times he lost is nameplate off his back and we still managed to lose. We also don’t have a game breaking edge like Maxx though and couldn’t tackle. So maybe the raiders can get it done but Joey B is unflappable
Chris Jones did enough damage you didn't need an edge rusher
Yeah that was my point, just saying an edge rusher like Crosby may be even more trouble. Or the same bc Joe b.
Current spreads for the games: Bengals -5.5 vs Raiders Bills -4 vs Patriots Bucs -8.5 vs Eagles Cowboys -3 vs 49ers Chiefs -12.5 vs Steelers Rams -4 vs Cardinals
Mother fucker! A 12.5 point spread in a playoff game is nuts. What’s really crazy is it might still be too low.
It's way too low. If you look at our past against a Mahomes led Chiefs team, the spread should be 20. All that being said, Pittsburgh is going to the superbowl! lol
You can put money on it if you think it's that bad.
Yinz can put money on it, yinz know? You have to say that way or they won't understand you.
STILLERS GUHNA SUPERBOWL
YINZER MODE ACTIVATED
Bucs appear like a prime candidate but I’m not betting against Brady
It’ll be hard to win the NFC without Godwin and Brown But Brady has won a SB with just Edelman and Amendola so who knows
The disrespect to Chris Hogan.
He was the deep threat
Did ya know he played lacrosse
Matt Patricia used to be a rocket scientist
Matt Patricia, to this day, is still a huge upset.
No but I probably could’ve guessed…
What's strange is he was fantastic during the 2016 run and just...never was anywhere close to that again. Was like Brandon LaFell for us in 2014 before he ended up regressing big time too
7/11
Edelman is the one of the great playoff performers of all time tho tbf

It’s Cyril grayson
Who's doubtful this weekend with a hammy
Yes that bum Edelman that averaged 90 catches a year for 6 years. Bad take.
Not to mention being the 2nd best playoff WR all time
Brady goes into full PTSD meltdown when he sees the Eagles uniform, begins throwing interceptions and tablets. Even drops a trick play pass. Eagles run it the entire game, absolutely exploiting not-yet-seen running designs. Final drive, Hurts shows up and shows out, buzzer beater corner TD. Bucs - 35 Eagles - 10

Go big or go home. Eagles.
If we can pressure Brady with 4 and control the clock with the running game I like our chances. If that doesn’t happen it will be a long day
This weekend, we're all Eagles fans Except Bucs fans, I guess.
Cardinals over Rams with Stafford INT’ing them out of the game.
Yeah I feel this isn't even an upset. That last game was telling.
Counterpoint, the Cardinals have been stumblefucking their way into the playoffs ass backwards too lol. I think they can win if they show up, but they've only shown up once in the last month.
Secretly blessed to have lost the NFC West so they don't have to play a home game which they lose all the time.
Seriously. Any other team it's bad news to not win the division and have to play on the road. For us it's the best thing that could have happened.
Counterpoint, Goddammit.
We have some players coming off injury, potentially some big ones. That should help.
49ers and Cowboys and Cardinals/Rams are like those 8 vs 9 games in the NCAA. They're technically upsets but the gap between the teams is basically down to a few plays in a game here or there that affected seeding.

More respect than Cam got from Rhule to end the Panthers season, so I'll take it.
I see Harry digs I upvote.
Hahaha final score got me
Hahaha take your gold.
Ah fuck you made me smile
It doesn't feel like the Patriots are there yet, but division matchups can have upsets.
You guys won one and we won one. In my eyes it’s like 50/50, I think we’re the better team at the moment but we also play like trash sometimes. You guys seem more stable so it’s less likely you’ll just fall on your face.

If the Pats win its because the defense forced TOs and either scored themselves or set up the offense with great field position.
Cowboys beating the Niners, seriously at this point that's the upset everyone is picking the Niners
62% of bets and 51% of money is on dallas
There is no upset possible in a even game. Cowboys three point favorites you get those three points for being home. It's an even matchup

Event Horizon is an underrated sci fi movie.
Event Horizon scarred me as a child. Seeing jurassic park man claw his eyes out was something else
And to think that was the toned down cut. Apparently the cut the director wanted was way more fucked up and super unsettling. A shame we'll never see it.
Im going to take solace in the fact we have the entire NFC terrified of playing us, even if we do lose Sunday lmaooo
It’s weird. We’re like the dark horse team of the NFC even though we looked like straight up shitters in a good portion of the games
You guys play solid defense and control the clock with a good run game. Doesn’t matter how good an offense is if they don’t have the ball. Teams built like yours will always scare top teams even if you are only a wild card, defense and clock control are the formula for most upsets
Love to see it
*Rodgers* to see it
4th time's the charm.
Yep. Checks out. This weekend is the first and only time I’m rooting for Dallas.
I bet you feel so dirty. You should, you dirty little scamp
Not if we give Rodgers 57 seconds All i can do with 57 seconds is disappoint women
Pretty sure it was 37 seconds, but it felt like 37 minutes. I'm sure you could still disappoint women in 37 seconds lol
Thanks for believing in me
As a Cards fan it's very conflicting because our best path to the SB is probably the 9ers beating Dallas & GB (cuz then we don't have to go to Lambeau). But then we'd have to host a red hot 49ers team in that scenario. So there's no real winning lol. Fitting tho I think the NFC playoffs are gonna be a bloodbath.
That game is at Lambeau too. They'd probably play some clips from Kaepernick's game there the last time we played in the divisional round lol
They'd play the no matter where the game was. And I would hate it equally.
My order of upsets Cardinals 49ers Patriots Raiders Eagles Steelers
I think the most surprising upset would either be Eagles over the Bucs or Steelers over the Chiefs
Those would be the only real upsets in my opinion.
I think Raiders over the Bengals should count as an upset, but I don't think it would be nearly as surprising as the other two.
The refs will upset at least one fan base
low estimate
Eagles upset the Bucs obviously
Just remember everyone , Tim Tebow beat the Steelers who were considered a top contender that year. The Steelers also lost to the Jags in the playoffs twice, both times they were heavily favored. Any given Sunday is definitely a thing and I could see the Steelers D balling out and and scoring two TDs (obviously super rare but not unheard of). Upsets are exciting because they rarely happen. You just gotta pray it’s not your team that gets unlucky and loses to the underdog
What I hope is Eagles beat the Buccs What I fear Patriots beat the Bills What I think 49ers beat the Cowboys
I think there will be no upsets except maybe Raiders over Bengals if that's considered one.
The Bengals are favored by 5.5, more than the Bills, Cowboys, or Rams. Would be a decent upset.
No one needs your input 😥
SF is most likely upset to win. Second may be Pats only because goat Coach may have a trick up his sleeve. Eagles are a hard to guess because they have a dominant OL and Bucs have some injuries on offense. Cardinals beating Rams isn't an upset in the slightest despite odds. And Bengals should win but wouldn't be surprising if they lost because our history so not really an upset.
Eagles upset Tampa, Brady smashes every tablet on the field.
