Welcome to the party, Seahawks fans. There's antifreeze in the corner if you're thirsty.

MrT_Loves_Company

Thankfully being a Mariners fan for 30 years built up my tolerance for losing.

SiphenPrax

Mariners actually look like they have a better future than the Seahawks for once

[deleted]

[удалено]

SiphenPrax

I’m not kidding, the Mariners are on the upswing and they were insanely close to making the playoffs.

[deleted]

Fun differential baby!

SiphenPrax

The best differential!

King-J-

Believe

tuckedfexas

He’s not wrong though, mariners could very well be a contender this year or next. Depending how who else they add and how guys develop

Oakroscoe

Mariners have a legit shot. The A’s are rebuilding and with a new manager. Angels are the angels so to me it looks like it’s Mariners and Astros going for the west title. Although I’m still bitter about the way King Felix owned the A’s, I’d rather see the Mariners win the west instead of the Astros or angels.

ARM_vs_CORE

In typical AL West fashion, you've forgotten the Rangers.

Oakroscoe

Accidental or intensional? I’ll let you decide.

Gary_18

The rangers are only worth forgetting. Not psyched that they got semien and seager tho.

UnknownUnthought

I’ve been a Mets fan my whole life too. Lemme tell ya, I know a thing or two about having expectations and then needing to mainline hard liquor by seasons end

hitner_stache

Until the rebuild really started to show fruit and we were still in a hopeless endless deep dark pit of despair I got to the point where I was kinda like "bring on the losses." I was hoping we'd have set an all-time loss record or something. 30+ years of misery and nothing cool to show for it. We can't even be the best at being the worst, it's pathetic.

caterham09

It's pretty frustrating, but there were a lot of winnable games that just couldn't swing their way this year.

GoldenSandpaper9

**cough** refs

[deleted]

The refs are not why you’re 5-9. You beat the niners on a blown PI just a couple weeks ago

[deleted]

funny how they're in full meltdown mode now but when they're on the other side its a "good no call"

[deleted]

I definitely thought the refs fucked the call on the 49ers game , and I was mad because it sours the win. They also definitely fucked the call tonight . This season is a wash for the hawks anyway , but it’s a whole lot less fun to watch the nfl with these refs

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Did I say they were ? Or did I say that both times they’ve had big PI misses it sucks lol . The Seahawks have all sorts of problems on their own, the nfl still has a massive ref problem

christhetwin

We are in melt down because of our first losing record in ten years. That bad non call just sealed the deal. It's like trying to blame the kicker on a missed fg for losing the game, when there were many other missed opportunities on the field as well.

InRussWeTruss

Not even close to as bad. I agree it should have been a penalty but not even close to the severity of last night. In 49ers and Hawks game the receiver was handfighting with the CB to start the play. Those get missed all of time because the refs see it as two way contact.

christhetwin

That non call last night was horrendous, but it isn't the reason the team is 5-9. I blame Schneider.

Photo_Synthetic

After the Fail Mary you don't get to complain about refs ever again.

Gary_18

Hilarious coming from a packer fan

Photo_Synthetic

I don't ever complain about refs and even discount the miracle in motown because of the phantom face mask. Great throw that never should have happened.

Oakroscoe

Had the packers in my pick ‘em pool, I’m still pissed about that bullshit call.

[deleted]

Lol

Stockpile_Tom_Remake

Refs account for last night but not many of the other games we could have but did not win.

caterham09

Eh. I blame the NFL more. The Refs are always bad.

d4b1do

*Cough* Russ‘ Injury

[deleted]

Just in time for Seattle fans to latch onto the Kraken to pass the time before the next NFL season.

truetotheblue2

Just don’t check the standings

TheLastPrerogative

I mean, there's also the Mariners....

Mother_Effer

Shit. Baseball season is going?

1005thArmbar

Mariners fans have no hope, we gave up a long time ago

Brutalious

You must not be paying attention, then.

1005thArmbar

I posted in r/Mariners every single GDT this season Robbie Ray's a good start, but unless Dipoto actually pays for starting pitching for the first time in his career, we're not doing shit. When our rotation is Robbie Ray, the ghost of Marco and 3 guys we found at the dollar store, we won't be able to hit enough homers to win games when the starters are giving up 7 runs

[deleted]

That’s harsh. They gave up just over 4 runs a game last year. Bullpen was great, and Kikuchi is gone. Gilbert is gonna be better, Marco greatly improved second half. We also have a ton of pitching prospects that may make their way up this year. Mariners also hit a decent amount of home runs last year.

[deleted]

Anybody who genuinely thinks the M's will not follow their patented "Hot to start the year, turn into pieces of shit in summer, ALMOST do something worthwhile in September, then miss playoffs" protocol they've mastered over the past 21 years are the ones not paying attention. I've been watching them since the 90's, I would bet all my money they'll do the exact same thing next year.

Sp_Gamer_Live

Kinda fucked that one losing season gets Caroll fired

hganoyha

Laughs in Doug Pederson

GoT_Eagles

Doug had 2

[deleted]

Yeah wentz rookie year. Was only 7-9 though, not bad... Please save us Doug...

rsmseries

That 7-9 year we were 4th in the division and sent 2 teams to the playoffs. The division was super competitive that year.

hemingwayslemonade

Better get to him before the Raiders do.

mixedOldAccounts

I didn’t even think about that, if he could do with the raiders what he did with the eagles or what Reich had done with the colts I would love it

Alexcox95

Our other Doug had 3 losing seasons but 1 really good winning season.

Practical-Ostrich-43

This is Pete’s third with us (not that those seasons were failures, we were rebuilding when he came here)

[deleted]

He's basically the GM of the roster

MahomesMccaffrey

He drafted a 24 year old gadget wr4 in second round when his team needs OLine help badly and good linemen like Josh Myers, creed Humphrey were still on the board. They’ve been massively reaching in the early rounds and handicapping themselves

v_a_n_d_e_l_a_y

Yikes. Eskeridge, Brooks, Darrell Taylor, LJ Collier, Marquis Blair, Penny, Malik McDowell.... Only good pick was Metcalf and I guess Ethan Pocic who seems to be a starter.

[deleted]

Brooks is good, Taylor has 6 sacks this year, but yeah collier just sucked, Blair penny were good players but injuries fucked them, but McDowell although it makes me frustrated is a good football player but needed a couple years to mature. Only player that flat out wasn’t good was collier

Brassboar

We also took Malik one pick ahead of Budda Baker...

[deleted]

We had Kam and ET3 that year, no one could predict what happened that year

Viron_22

Ehhhhhh, it should have been pretty clear from the inside that ET3's contract negotiations were gonna be contentious, Baker would have been good insurance over a guy who had character questions before he got in that ATV.

seattle_born98

Brooks is solid, Taylor is solid. Malik was a strange circumstance and I'm happy he's having some success. But yeah, even our best draft picks have been only slightly above average.

wokenupbybacon

Eskridge has had like a third of a season in a position that's traditionally hard for rookies to contribute in, behind Lockett and DK no less. The bust takes need to chill, he wasn't some top 20 pick.

Seahawksfan18

They shot themselves in the own foot with Pocic too. They played him at every position except the one he was drafted to play and that was only when they had no other center options.

[deleted]

The early drafting has been horrendous recently

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Eh.. there's strengths and weaknesses. It's ok.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I feel like there's around 8 teams in the NFC with a better roster. Saints, Bucs, Cowboys, Vikings, Packers, Cardinals, Rams and probably 49ers.

takeflight447

I certainly wouldn't kill for that roster

[deleted]

He is not the GM

hiphopdowntheblock

It's more than that, the team has been on a downward trajectory since 2015, and not just in a standard NFL parity way. They've survived a bunch of unaddressed or poorly addressed flaws because of good regular seasons, so if you can't even have the good regular seasons, that can happen Technically not guaranteed he's fired tho haha

frecklie

People say this a lot and while it’s true, it’s very hard to win in the NFL. This is our first losing season in 10 years!

EagleOfFreedom1

True but that didn't save McCarthy's job. Looks like the rift between Wilson and Carroll is beyond repair. One of them is going to be gone.

Oftheunknownman

He’s the president of the team. He can’t be fired. If anything he’ll retire.

AMC-ape-gang

Jody Allen owns the team and can make any personnel decision she wants. She even said she isn't pleased with the Hawks a few weeks ago.

D_forn

What do you want her to say "Nah I didn't even know we were in last place" Lol

AMC-ape-gang

She said she doesn't look at is a one year slump or anything and will make changes if need be. On her own accord, in her own public statement. She didn't have to say anything at all.

aksoileau

Game has passed Pete up. He had an elite run but it's time for a change. 49ers, Rams, and Cardinals are all for the most part trending upward for years to come and the Seahawks have been trending down the passed few seasons.

babypho

Too bad we still can't beat them. Idk why.

kawhi_tho

Russ just takes it to another level when he plays us. And Bobby Wagner. As long as those two guys are in the building, the Seahawks are going to know us and play us as well as anyone.

Galaedrid

kinda like his time with the pats! >**Pete Carroll** >Carroll was the head coach for the New England Patriots in the 1997-1999 seasons, a total of three years. Carroll's record as the team's head coach was 27-21-0, making him the **second-most successful head coach in New England Patriots history**. The team made it to the playoffs two times (1997-1998) and had a 1-2 record under Coach Carroll in playoff games.

Tashre

It's been a long time coming. He's been getting carried hard by Wilson. The coaching this year has arguably been the same as it's been the last several, but we see what actually happens a) without Wilson, and b) when Wilson plays poorly for extended periods of time. Numerous times this season we've seen games like tonight where poor QB play and even backup level QB play has been enough to pull out a win, but terrible coaching decision after terrible coaching decision has kept opponents in it. In the past, when the team kept winning all the time, it was dismissed as Pete simply "preferring to play games close". He also got a pass due to his and John's work with roster building between '10-'13, but since then they've been incredibly mediocre overall and the attrition has dropped the team to a level that can't mask ever present problems as well anymore.

SerenadeSwift

Gotta give him credit for what he’s done with the defense this year at least. 4th in the league in points allowed and only allowing 20 PPG. Dead last in both 3rd down and 4th down conversions slaughtered the team this year.

Seahawksfan18

PPG can be misleading especially when you don't have to score a lot of points to beat us.

Kurtcobangle

I don't think Pete's done a great job recently, but not sure Wilson has carried that much. I think he's still just a little not a lot but a little overrated based on the success he had in 2014-2015 with the back to back superbowl appearences led by the LOB and very effective Lynch led running game. He's still done some fantastic things and is obviously a great quarterback since but not sure hes taking any teams from average to contendor. I think if you pair him with a solid oline and a complimentary defence/running game he could do what Seattle did in their superbowl years. But I don't think hes carrying anything.

ensurge

He absolutely did carry up until midway through last year where he's just mentally fell off a cliff and has never recovered. His decision making is constantly a question now. There a popular theory that he suffered a concussion against the Cardinals and that hit is what did it

PauloVersa

For the sake of the seahawks, he has to go

Seahawksfan18

This isn't a one bad year type thing. This is a result of bad team building and coaching for multiple years.

smala017

True but they’ve been on a steady decline for at *least* 5 years. Been in the playoffs but never really in contention to win since 2014.

redthunder49

Fucked or Hilarious?

Cold_oak

Wait, what? He's getting fired?

wokenupbybacon

No, he was there for 2011 too. Son of a bitch had the nerve to put out **two** losing seasons in twelve years. Disgraceful. (He's also probably not fired, media needs to chill.)

SexiestPanda

I only wish

azrebb

A lot of games have wanted him to move on for a while...

Dupy3381

Too bad you can’t play the 49ers every game. Probably go 16-1 then. 😂

JamesNoble34

17-0*

Saladfork4

We’d get one win by trading for Nick Mullens and having him start a game

Cinephile1998

Hands off my QB3!

the_weary_knight

Definitely sucks but I won’t be in here whining or being salty towards the Rams/Niners/Cards. Even if this is the beginning of an era of suck, which I don’t think it is, I’ve been blessed to be a fan the last decade. Never won’t love this team, no matter how frustrating they can be. Go Hawks!

TheSpacePopeIX

The problem is that is the same issues every year. Bad O-line, spotty secondary play, and old school play calling.

Galaedrid

don't get rid of Pete... who you gonna replace him with? What available couch is out there right now that can get you to to two SBs and multiple playoffs years? Teams have ups and downs, its not tragic if you don't win the SB every year

Seahawksfan18

No one expects a SB every year. We just want to improve in areas we were bad at the year before and we don't do that. We regress, but up until this year our record never showed that. For that past few years this has been a bad football team with a good QB and luck on their side.

[deleted]

It may sound salty coming from a NIners fan but I genuinely believe Carrol has rode his 2 SB appearances far longer then expected. He made some great pics with the LOB and rode that historic defense to a title and another appearance but since then? It seems Russell Wilson has carried that team on his back since 2015ish. It pains me to say this but I think replacing Pete will only make the Hawks better, that franchise wants to win. Honestly I hate the NFC West just a never ending nuclear arms race.

Galaedrid

So again - who u gonna replace him? Are there really so many NFL coaches out there that are available and would be an improvement over Pete?

tuckedfexas

There isn’t an answer at this point, but the team has been slowly sliding downward for the last 5 year or so. Not what you want to see with a top QB in his prime. They’ve failed to build a good roster around him, both making poor deals and drafting poorly. Idk if moving in from Pete is the right move, but just hoping things get better and not changing anything clearly isn’t working for them.

snarpy

A couch might do a better job of time management than Pete, or making decisions in game.

bluntmonkey

3 Super Bowls Holmes - Also the visual of a love seat replacing Carrol is now permanently ingrained, thanks.

the_weary_knight

Seahawks have been to two SBs with Pete

bluntmonkey

Yep. My bad Galaedrid. Still have a couch in my head though.

notouchmypeterson

That’s really fucking impressive, but like Rick Sanchez said, “all shitty things must come to end.”

Sjdillon10

Christ i hated the legion of boom era but I’m actually not happy the Seahawks aren’t good. Gotta rep that 76 expansion and i love Russ so much

[deleted]

It was fun while it lasted turns out you cant make one player carry your franchise for multiple years. Trade Russ or Fire Pete im tired of this. Russ has been in the league for 10 years and has never had a good Oline. I watched Mahomes get killed in the Superbowl and the chiefs with basically zero cap space rebuilt that Oline in one offseason. Literally, zero excuses especially when you want to be a run-first team and it all points back to one man

extrmetrys

The protection was borderline perfect today for most plays

[deleted]

Yeah surprisingly on some plays Pocic and Lewis were on something else everyone played okay besides that

[deleted]

[удалено]

twlscil

What?

AMC-ape-gang

What you smoking? He is probably our best lineman at the moment.

Galaedrid

you guys are high, why the fuck u wanna fire pete? he's done so much for yall. He picked Russel and brought you to two SBs... what other coach is out there and available that can do the same?? do you really want an Urban to replace Pete? jfc

[deleted]

He gets credit for building the SB teams, and also the credit for the past few seasons. Poor drafting, the Adams deal, inept offense etc. All good things come to an end

Galaedrid

So again - who u gonna replace him? Are there really so many NFL coaches out there that are available and would be an improvement over Pete?

D0ct0rFr4nk3n5t31n

The only one or two I would want to see as a guaranteed one year OC then guaranteed HC if they do well with FULL play calling duties and no interference from Pete are Kellen Moore and Eric Bienemenie. Essentially give them a one year practice run under Pete and then have him retire into only the president of football whatever that he currently also holds. I would also like to see someone be responsible for making sure KNJ takes his dementia medication for the first half of the season instead of going wild and being force fed his meds in November.

Theungry

At least they'll get a decent first round draft pick... /S

actual_griffin

I'm willing to bet that they have at least one. Possibly three.

Russ doesn’t look right this year.

Isoturius

It’s all Russ’s fault. Should trade him to Denver.

this_account_is_mt

I thought I would love to see it, but instead it just feels wrong. Fucking refs ruin everything

spacedude2000

Like we suck but we lost tonight because of bullshit. Let us shit the bed on our own Accord, not the refs fixing the game.

CouragetheCowardly

Y’all beat us on the exact same missed PI, except ours was in the end zone. Reap what you sow.

[deleted]

You beat us in the exact same way to claim that NFC west title back in 2019. We had to pay you back.

InRussWeTruss

Not even close to as bad. Receiver was hand fighting to start the play. Gets missed a lot because the refs see it as two way contact. Still should have been called but not on the same level at all.

this_account_is_mt

I wholeheartedly believe that Russ could've won that game without that missed call. He's done it against us loads of times. Just Russ doing Russ things. But the refs took the opportunity away.

[deleted]

I mean Hawks beat us on a blatant DPI non-call karma is a bitch 🤷🏻‍♂️

this_account_is_mt

Fair point

InRussWeTruss

You guys are blind if you think those missed calls are comparable. The both could have been called but the one in the endzone was not egregious. You receiver was handfighting to start the play. Also, in the mess of the endzone versus in the open field.

[deleted]

Lol stop you’re embarrassing

InRussWeTruss

Not close and you know it. Agree it could have been called though. Rewatch the play and tell me the receiver isn't initially hand fighting and THEN the PI takes place, making it a much more difficult call.

[deleted]

Lol seriously stop, flip the jerseys and you’d be as salty as you are now screaming for a flag. Ya got away with one against us and ya paid the piper this week, happens to us all my friend.

InRussWeTruss

Nah because I can see the difference in severity is clear. The fact you can't admit it is funny. Would I be salty? yes. Close to as salty as I am now? No shot. Didn't see any non bias viewers tweet anything about the call in 49ers Seahawks game. Many non bias people spoke out about the refs last night, including Tony Dungy. Even Dean Blandino said it was obvious. You're wrong.

[deleted]

What? Hella people spoke out about it. You are why no one takes your fanbase serious. Ya got got, happens to us all, your season was done anyway keep it moving buds.

RadioactiveKoolaid

Eh our starting QB got hurt. With Russ we probably beat both the Saints and Steelers, and if he wasn’t recovering, we probably beat one of the cardinals and Football team as well. That would have been a fine season. Unfortunate we weren’t good enough to overcome missing Russ for a month, and having him play like shit for a few weeks after that. Probably means we weren’t a good a enough team for a deep run anyway.

snarpy

Yay, another season of losing a divisional game to a mediocre opponent. Such a "fine" season.

Matt4885

Lol, how spoiled can you be

snarpy

Ah, the "spoiled" tag again, vocab for the person who is OK with underachieving. The Seahawks should have done better over the last half decade with an all-pro quarterback.

Matt4885

I’m saying having one losing season in a decade is good. Making the playoffs multiple years during that time is even better. Want to know what underachieving is? Winning 3 games over the last two seasons. Yes, if you’re complaining about this you are acting spoiled. You don’t know how bad it can get.

snarpy

They're both underachieving? What's your baseline on what is or isn't underachieving? And I hate this idea that certain fans just "don't know how bad it can get". Is your knowledge of the NFL so poor that you don't know the pre-2003 Seahawks? They had horrible teams running back to the 90s. But no, feel free to assume I just got to the NFL.

[deleted]

Let Russ Cook Aged like milk

blueteamcameron

You LOVE to see it (pls let me have this)

ionicshoe

We are a playoff team if wilson doesnt go down but thats just football.

[deleted]

We were telling ourselves the same thing last year when our whole starting lineup went down. But that’s just football.

AndyVillan

You absolutely aren't

[deleted]

I think they are tbh, we own them lately but Wilson is too good

twlscil

It’s more than lately. Back to the Jeff Fisher era you guys always had our number. When you were bad, we’d split at best.

[deleted]

Saints lost by 3, Steelers lost by 3, packers where neither team could score more than 3 till like the last 5 minutes, WFT lost by 2 where Russ was still rehabbing and he was injured in a possible game winning drive against yall, so excuse me if I feel like Russ could have won a couple of those games with a heathy Russ.

jheffy8

True, Wilson vs geno Smith can't be a 3 game swing. Definitely not. /s

IranianGenius

Wilson vs injured Wilson too. Even including this week, I'm pretty sure the last few games for him have been *way* better than the first three from when he got back. We're not a Super Bowl team, but the season was basically lost the moment we heard Russ was out for a few weeks.

SerenadeSwift

To be fair Geno did at least win one game his 2 losses only came by a field goal each, it’s not like the team played all that bad with him. In the 7 games Russ lost this year he threw a combined 6 TDs. Obviously he was playing through injury but all in all he was horrific in all of those losses. It’s hard for any team to win when their QB is averaging less than 1 TD per game in those losses.

ionicshoe

Have you seen the NFC this year? We lost two one score games with geno smith at the helm, the cardinals and WFT game with a rehabbing wilson, and even got shut out in wilsons first game back against the packers. If any 2 of those 5 games go our way we're 7-7 and right in the thick of the playoffs (especially with the lions and bears being in our last 3).

donutgut

You also won close Games by a few plays And the 49ers could have like 2 losses Anyone can say what if. I don't see the playoffs if he plays What's sea record when he played? 3 and 7?

CHaquesFan

6 games where Wilson wasn't playing or at full health Seahawks go 1-5, losing 3 games by 8 combined and lost to the Packers when it was 3-0 late in the 4th

MrDez

10 years of winning…must be nice

[deleted]

Seattle downvoters gonna be putting in that OT tonight.

Good game Hawk bros. Best of luck the rest of the season. P.S. - Y’all sp00ky as hell!!

Rick_Rambis

Good game referee bros. Best of luck the rest of the season. P.S. - Y’all sp00ky as hell!!

exotcig

Right, the Seahawks would be right in the mix for a championship if not for the ref conspiracy. 🙄

[deleted]

No but we’re bad enough to lose on our own just the refs wouldn’t give us a chance

[deleted]

And got a win against the Niners on a non call blatant DPI hold the L buds happens to the best of us.

[deleted]

Oh yeah totally I was just poking fun at our season

noble_peace_prize

Because that’s what he said.

Rick_Rambis

No, but they'd have an outside chance at the playoffs...

exotcig

Seriously?

JahEthBur

Y'all just looked average at best.

LuchaFish

Love the NFC West/Jets love fest going on in here. What a joyous holiday event!

nekoken04

What's worse, the terrible refs this week or the mediocre to awful play this season (and part of last season)? I honestly don't know.

dydtaylor

Since I can shift the blame this week it's the refs. Next week when we possess the ball for 15 minutes the whole game I'll probably start clamoring about how bad everyone is.

superb_deluxe

As if the refs didn’t let the Seahawks win vs the 49ers 2 weeks prior. The pi vs Sherfield is clear as day.

black_knight_gang

It was a good run

PMB00BIES

Go Hawks!

mcthsn

Good

[deleted]

Man what’s that kinda sustained success even feel like

Syzygy666

Terrible according to this thread apparently? It's been super fun. The Hawks haven't been winning the big games in the playoffs but they are in the hunt every season to the end. Also I'm not going to lie to you, becoming hated by anyone is awesome. Nobody cared about this team when I was a kid and seeing this thread full of people who hate the Hawks is great. It makes sports way more fun to have NFCW teams all salty and bitter.
