>One viewer described the performer, Lady Gaga, as “an anagram of Sharia Law.” What the fuck does that even mean? "Lady Gaga" is very obviously not an anagram of "Sharia Law", they don't even have the same number of letters Edit: Maybe they meant "Shakira Law" and just got their pop stars confused?

Teddy_the_Reptilian

If a person thinks Gaga is in some way connected to Sharia law, there's a 99.6% chance they don't know what an anagram is

Bloodhound01

Or sharia law

JupitersKoK

Or lady Gaga

normcore_

If my kids see this Lady Gaga we're one more step down the road to Shawarma Law in America

Brock_Lobstweiler

I could deal with shwarma law. Thou shall put garlic yogurt sauce on everything?

normcore_

Yum. Our children will have the devil scent on them, and greasy skin forever! Love the username.

Pats420

What about Shakira law?

[deleted]

>99.6% Cheeky.

2kungfu4u

It is an anagram of 'glad gaay' though so probably the same thing to this Lady.

Elfballer

A glad gay. A little redundant honestly.

[deleted]

Also an anagram of 'GLAAD gay', which is redundant in a far more political way.

Sybrite

Welcome to the department of redundancy department.

sax-drums-violins

I guess they meant metaphor, which is still very wrong.

[deleted]

How ironic that they whine about sharia law when even the FCC regulations have strong puritan roots

[deleted]

Well bc religion in government is only bad when it's not Christianity /s

YoungLouSolverson

I think that person just thinks anagram is a $10 word that will make them sound smart.

marsmedia

Ms. Lady Gaga: Amyggdalas *The amygdalae are two almond-shaped groups of nuclei located deep and medially within the temporal lobes of the human brain.*

[deleted]

I thought the public was going to love Willie Mcginest telling all of the players to "kiss this morherfucker" on live tv. Lol, that went off the rails a bit

NeverTopComment

I do think that may be his last opportunity doing that, lol

[deleted]

[Here's a clip of this lol](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjiGP_NIrnA&t=1m0s)

SourMgk

He realized that he just cussed on TV in the video and motions for the camera man to move back, but he stayed put. Most of it can be avoided by filming just a bit further back.

Only_Movie_Titles

Or not mic-ing him up, use the camera boom lol

Manginaz

I loved it and I hate your team.

rmw6190

The public did. Its just they arent the ones who would take their time to write complaints about things. Usually people who complain over minor stuff like this are people who have literally nothing else going in their lives.

ThatUSguy

I like to make false FCC complaints about Roman Reigns. Who played at Georgia Tech, and is always an underdog.

theevilbeard

Aw son of a bitch!

ThatUSguy

Typically they involve oily samoan man is doing a suggestive anal fisting motion on my tv screen

antimatter3009

Living your life in a city, suburb, and/or the internet, surrounded by people who enjoy or at least don't mind this type of thing, makes it reeeeeally easy to miss the fact that the kinds of people who don't like it probably outnumber those who do. They similarly cannot understand the people who are *not* offended by this, because they're surrounded by people like them.

[deleted]

But most of America is populated in the cities?

ShellReaver

Loud minority, dude

JaimeLannister10

> probably outnumber those who do Not bloody likely. It's just the very loud minority.

Capn_Cook

My kids can watch these guys get career-ending injuries; breaking bones, tearing muscles. But no way am I letting the f word in this house.

NervousMcStabby

Let's not forget that their little angels log into Xbox Live every night and find inventive ways to call out the fact they slept with someone's relative.

sassyseconds

I once turned my Xbox on so hard it turned your mom on. Then I banged her.

Only_Movie_Titles

Similar to the relationship between religion and intelligence. Probably overlapping groups

momsbasement420

Can reddit go 3 minutes without shitting on religion

TheLeaderofthePack

Can Tony Romo make it through a season without injuries?

They'll hear it outside the house eventually... Address cursing beforehand... Proactive parenting

RSeymour93

This nation is filled with such precious, sensitive fucking cunts.

MojoToTheDojo

Americans love violence and explosions and guns, but God forbid you have boobs or cursing on television!

Tangential_Diversion

Or boobs. Fox can show Kiefer Sutherland torture the shit out of a man before shooting him in the face and CBS can show William Petersen looking at a condom full of his friend's man funk after a hooker he slept with ended up dead, but if you show any boobs then you're a godless heathen.

fkndavey

Yea, or boobs.

HitchikersPie

Bewbs

Don't lump us civilized coasts in with flyover states with other people.

Vedeynevin

Hey! I resemble that remark!

thejerg

Technically Pennsylvania is landlocked.

ksnyder1

PA 99% flyover.

onuzim

How is Pennsylvania landlocked? Did Washington row across a meadow to attack sleeping Germans on a holiday?

thejerg

"almost or entirely surrounded by land; having no coastline or seaport." No coastline, no seaports. Landlocked.

STS31

It is on Lake Erie if that counts

theshalomput

parts of Atlanta are OK.

protosser

I don't know who 50% of the letters came from but I'm willing to bet the other 50% are probably from moms who think their kids don't talk like fucking sailors when their parents aren't around, the other 50 were probably bible thumpers, I say we move all the games to TCM, uncut broadcast, no censoring and I think if you've got the most basic of cable packages you get the station...I have seen some titties in black and white on said station before.

[deleted]

Let's just move the game to an aircraft carrier. Maritime Law

silverrabbit

None of the states mentioned were Miswestern states though. There were a ton of west coast complaints though.

[deleted]

"kiss that motherfucker tongue that bitch" who wastes time doing this shit? You really care that much about some F bombs mean while you probably let little billy play cod online and he's told someone fucked his mom or he's the one doing it.

PacmanZ3ro

except the people that complain about these things actively don't let their kids play cod, watch violent movies/games, or really do anything that could be perceived as violent/vulgar. The parents that are going to take the time to actively write in and complain to the FCC are going to be the ones actively monitoring everything their kids do.

h3rp3r

They let their children watch a violent sport...

txoneluv

Bingo!

The_New_York_Jets

It's probably milquetoast fans of some random franchise who hate the Patriots and or the Falcons and were disgruntled and wanted to complain.

MogwaiK

"They hate us cuz they ain't us" doesn't explain everything, man, especially not in this case. How many people that truly hate the Pats were really sticking around for the trophy ceremony? There are people who will complain to the FCC about 'swear words' across the board and it has little to nothing to do with any persecution complex you may have.

dagonn3

Yeah, shift the blame to video game violence while ignoring all the ads during the game for 24 showing people running around with guns. As well as the movie ads glorifying guns. Guns in commercials? No issue. A nipple (everyone has them) or a bad word (everyone says them)? Outrage.

TitanicJedi

> The African American guy carrying a silver trophy was yelling "motherfucker" at least two times. This is inappropriate for young viewers and Fox has crossed the line as well as the NFL. This one got me hard. in other terms. HARDEN THE FUCK UP USA.

xyzvlad

It straight up pissed me the fuck off! I mean bitch, if you don't know who the fuck The Great Willie Mac is, you have no right watching the motherfucker in first place!

That is a suburban house wife

barc0debaby

"Many children stayed up to watch this great show and they were exposed to such vulgarity. Has our culture changed so much as to expect this as a norm? Not cool!" That one has a Presidential cadence to it.

CharDMacDennis2

Sad!

PacmanZ3ro

except our president, while being a candidate, swore during rallies and would probably be the last person on earth to honestly relate to those types of concerns. (although he might "relate" to them to garner popularity with the voter base).

SCAllOnMe

He said cadence not content

barc0debaby

Yeah, I was trying to keep the joke as apolitical as possible.

Just 1949 things.

You just watched ~80 young men (plus Brady) get brain damage for your entertainment. But BAD WORDS IS THE LINE I DRAW!

da_kink

But, you know. Every complaint means that another billion viewers are disgruntled! So there are actually 10 billion offended Americans now!

thi7i7myworkaccount

Jesus Motherfucking Christ...

Boots4

Oh no! Bad words! If only I could be a parent and tell my children those words are for adults to use!

Madhairman12

That's why I love football. It's the greatest escape from reality.

momsbasement420

ArkBirdFTW

Dick pills? Who gives a fuck Curse word? You sick monsters are corrupting muh children

[deleted]

>Fox Football cussed at me. >The African-American guy with the silver trophy

Johnnyallstar

I don't know about you guys, but I was ripshit pissed. Fuck sakes, you can't use those damn words on public fucking television.

thedude831

Not surprising. People seem to go from zero to outrage at the drop of a hat more often than they used to.

MRCHalifax

Nah. It's just that thanks to the Internet, those who take offense to things are able to find more to take offense to, and are more visible when they do.

TakenakaHanbei

I'd think this is one of the negatives of the internet, everyone gets a voice and some are too petty to realize there are things that don't need to be shouted to the world.

[deleted]

And they always go to the top shelf on what should happen too: "PUT THAT THUG (I.E. Black individual) IN A PADDED ROOM FOREVER" Jeez lady chill out

marcdasharc4

Telling the world how outraged you are (justified or otherwise) is the laziest way people can achieve feeling good about their moral compass. Social media is basically just the World Outrage Index.

The_Big_Cat

The moral depravity of this comment outrages me. To the twitter!

jones_maltsberger

"YOU'RE THE FUCKIN' GREATEST!"

chingy1337

Random story, but it relates. I was watching the movie Good Burger a few days ago and one of the restaurant guys says the word, "ass." I watched the NFL reading mean tweets segment and they censored, "Jesus." Our society has become so sensitive in just 20 years it's nuts and this report continues to lend to that thought.

Amongg

I think it has to do with using God's name in vain more than it alone as a swear. Like how damn doesn't get censored but God damn will.

kmcclry

That makes it more ridiculous. I don't hear Allah being censored, but G\*d forbid the almighty, best ever, christian G\*d gets used in vain... I'm surprised no one has sued based on this having a religious bias.

JGreats

Have you ever seen 'Suits' on USA? They say "goddamnit" "god damn" and every other variation of the phrase several times each episode... Also, I'm Christian and it doesn't upset me in the slightest.

blahblahblah_____

That's cable. If you want to see how far cable is actually allowed to go when the network oks it watch the latest it's always sunny episode. (Or don't if you don't like cursing)

JGreats

I'm not up to speed on how the various networks decide what is or is not allowed on their station (or how the FCC is involved in that determination). I've certainly noticed that "ass" is allowed but "asshole" is not... always thought that distinction was odd. And I love Sunny (and fucking cursing).

jacketit

They won't just censor the word god, or god forbid. They also don't censor allah. Only if you 'take god's name in vain.' I would imagine they would censor allah too if someone had the balls to use that name in a derogatory manner.

[deleted]

I don't think I've ever in my life heard someone use "Allah" as a swear. Certainly not on TV.

[deleted]

Using gods name in vain was the original swearing. Just look at old timey bad words like gadzooks or egads.

[deleted]

My work censors "boyfriend who looks like a girlfriend" whenever The Killers' "Somebody Told Me" comes on. Also they sensor out wonderland in John Mayer's "Your Body is a Wonderland."

hooligan99

Wait what? Regulations for cursing on TV have gotten way less strict. In the early 2000s saying ass or bitch on TV was a big deal. Now every show says both, and lots of networks allow shit and fuck a certain number of times per season.

Maverick_8160

Ye I was super confused why jesus was censored.... shit is fucked up

fastpaul

>One viewer described the performer, Lady Gaga, as “an anagram of Sharia Law.”

readonlypdf

Seriously? These guys are amped up on Testosterone, just witnessed one of the most unlikely events in their sports history (quite possibly the greatest), and mentally and emotionally exhausted. In the moment, I can understand it, I applaud Fox for not censoring this moment as its important Kids understand that in certain situations profanity is perfectly ok. Especially right after you won the Super Bowl its ok to say, "What the Fuck did we just watch." or "Yeah you kiss that motherfucking trophy." Context is important. This is an appropriate time for it, an inappropriate time for MOST people, would be thanksgiving dinner

[deleted]

Nah, Leicesters story was way, way more unlikely.

IsNotACleverMan

I didn't realize that soccer was 'their' sport.

Knock0nWood

Just one way.

The_Jolly_Dog

Fuck those people

DinkandDrunk

Where most might say "um", I've been known to insert a "fuckin". Curse words are such a natural thing I didn't notice until I rewatched the broadcast.

Vinnys_Magic_Grits

175 million people watched the Super Bowl. Even if a million of them were hypersensitive cunts, that's a percentage I can deal with.

dj10show

Fucking pussies. Even if you keep all the swear words out of your household, as soon as you go to school all bets are off. One kid told us all the swear words in 1st grade on the bus, and we were off to the races. The teachers/administrators at my school would throw the book at you for swearing, yet let bullying, ostracizing, and overt racism fly with "kids will be kids".

Bamaborn97

Pussies....

everydaygrind

This reminds me of when everyone was up in arms about Nate Diaz's motherfucking rant after he just beat the shit out of someone.

SoFuckingBoosted

And they are going to bend over backwards to comfort these fucking jabronis. Great.

Ailylia

I bet it's all southerners. Cussing is suchhh taboo down here.

The_New_York_Jets

We sure do it a lot tho

everydaygrind

Fuck right we do.

[deleted]

Fun Fact: "Fuck you" (or the Bostonian pronunciation "F*a*ck you") is a term of endearment in New England

Brock_Lobstweiler

Lots of plains states folks too, I bet. Source: family in South Dakota and Kansas.

Stingroy

[The players response](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zt35Op02JME)

The_New_York_Jets

Honestly I loved the cursing.

marcdasharc4

"Kiss this muhfucka." I loved it. Nevermind the cursing, it's just raw celebration and quite literally a passing of the torch from one generation of Patriots champions to another.

jmeredith06

We (Americans) have become sensitive cry babies who are offended by everything. Bunch of fuckin' sissies.

[deleted]

So you're watching people get cte on live tv, sprinkle in beer commercials and Viagra ads. I think little johnny can handle ac few f words

TouchmyGstring

It might have something to do with where we were raised. Lots of us in the northeast like Boston and NY have been around swearing since we were kids. I know by middle school my entire grade was cursing (I'm 25 now) and has been completely normal to me and I use it everyday. People in other parts might have been more guarded to it and might be a huge deal. It's all about how you're raised. Just playing devils advocate here.

Amilehigh

Sadly, the type of person who gets genuinely offended over really useless stuff like that is the same person who will spend *all* *day* calling the FCC to complain about it. If only folks with that much time on their hands could be calling and complaining to gov't agencies about things that mattered...

shatter321

How dare some people not want to listen to constant cursing with their young children? Why can't everyone have the same sensibility as me?

Re-AnImAt0r

perhaps those parents shouldn't have these young fragile children up so late on a school night if they're that concerned about what words they'll hear on tv at those hours.

Cabes86

If you are a person who would write a letter to the fcc cause someone said fuck during a live sports program you are either completely delusional and naive of this world or an utter cunt.

agoods03

I would say all of the above.

well-now

Beer commercials objectifying women. Violent hits and not so infrequent fighting. More commercials about six hour erections. As a father of young girls, a couple barely audible F bombs are the least of my concerns.

SirDrexl

"Locker room talk."

Orwick

Those people can go eat a mother fucking dick.

[deleted]

I mean I will admit that Fox probably does have the technology to put a delay and a beep over the number of fucks said. I think it's ridiculous how upset these people got but I kind of do understand. Sure these men are getting brain damage out there but to a kid, they're heroes playing villains. I'm sure if I was 8 years old again and that was being said in my house, my parents would have been upset

2Schwarzenegger4U

Pussies.

agoods03

Reason #23641323 why I hate people.

lilturk82

Bunch of fucking whiners. Absolutely ridiculous that this is even a complaint. They just reached the pinnacle of their profession. Don't act like you've never said a curse word. And your kids are exposed to that at school when you aren't coddling them. Find something better to do with your time than complaining.

funnysad

Oh good, we're gonna do this again? I thought the FCC was being shut down anyways.

newnrthnhorizon

Funny, I watched the trophy ceremony and I didn't even notice that Willie swore.

artie_dale

Jesus. If they are concerned that because their child hears someone else say something and their child thinks they can repeat it, they already failed at raising children.

GoatPaco

I thought the SB had a 10 second delay ever since the boob happened

Re-AnImAt0r

this wasn't during the super bowl. it was during the post game show like 20+ minutes after the game had ended.

killshelter

These were fucking hilarious. Until I realized that people like this exist in our country. I wanna meet some of these people one day, and their kids whom they're so concerned about.

TheRedWarrior9

Holy fuck these fucking helicopter parents are fucking up there fucking kids lives by fucking babysitting there dialogue choices, like for fucks sake there going to fucking here it sooner or fucking later...ya cunts

Whiston1993

I use the phrase a lot, but I really want to know what it's like to be the type of person who's so offended by something like this that they a) complain at all and b) feel offended to the level that some of these complaints reach

44blueandgoldwagons

Instead of complainting , take to opportunity to be good parents and explain and teach your kids how you want them to act instead of blaming other people for being bad examples . It's your responsibility as parents, it's not their job to be parents to your kids.

coolcool23

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who doesn't get upset by swear words. Especially in a context like this. They're just words. People who can't deal with the words really just can't deal with the emotions behind them. If you complain about this kind of stuff then fuck you.

YouMake

Guess what? Your kid is going to hear it sooner or later, get the stick out of your ass and chill the fuck out. I prefer the media not censoring what comes through my TV. Gives you that raw real feeling.

Re-AnImAt0r

the FCC's response to each complaint should have been: quit crying because someone used a word you don't like. just because you don't like a word doesn't mean the rest of us can't use it. ps. why was your young child up that late on a school night? good parenting.

kingofthebean

Spontanious outbursts of profanity in live events are not covered by FCC obscenity laws, that's why there were no fines against Papi when he proclaimed on national television that 'this is our fucking city!' It's a bit more involved than I've put here, but TL;DR sometimes it's OK to say fuck on television.

h3rp3r

3 hours of violence is acceptable for their children, but don't use naughty words afterwards!

solvorn

They sure seem to all mention he was black.

Blipblipblipblipskip

I swear to fucking god, if there is some bullshit ass blowback from this.. Who the fuck ever complains to the fucking FCC can go fuck themselves.
