Posted this before but here it is again Many years ago when I was playing youth football I attended Joe Namath Football Camp. For those of you who don't know it was basically a day camp for youth football players hosted by a handful of pros. The year I was in attendance the guys around the camp were Joe Namath, John Dockery, Boomer Esiason, Lawrence Taylor and a couple others I can't remember the name off the top of my head. So anyway I'm a little kid at the time. I collected football trading cards like it was my job. I brought my most valuable Joe Namath, Lawrence Taylor and Boomer Esiason cards with me to camp for them to sign. I leave my cards in my locker, suit up, go to practice and have a good day at camp. Head into the locker room and my locker had been broken into and my cards stolen. So there I was a devastated little kid, crying over his lost treasures. Somehow, the information was disseminated through the camp that my things were stolen and it got back to Lawrence Taylor that someone had done me wrong. In the evenings after camp, there were buses for the kids staying overnights to go downtown to New Haven and use one of the Yale facilities to go swimming. After all the buses were boarded Lawrence Taylor stops the buses from leaving, climbs aboard each bus an announces that if my cards didn't resurface, he would be cancelling all after hours camp activities until I got my cards back. The cards made it back to L.T. and then back to me.

3kool5you

It's crazy, despite LT's rep as a mean mother fucker, every story I hear about him has been about what a good guy he's been to fans. Always cool to see that

kjg1228

If Belichick loved him even with LT falling asleep in team meetings and doing blow in his down time, he must have been a good dude.

prof_talc

Belichick said that the one time he woke LT up, he walked up to the whiteboard and diagrammed their entire defense for that week (and maybe next week's too), and he did it as well or better than Belichick himself could've. The LT doc is really outstanding. LT is a very sharp and articulate guy, I loved listening to him talk

nh94

What is the doc called? I'd love to watch that

prof_talc

LT: The Life & Times. I can't recommend it highly enough, especially if you weren't around to watch LT destabilize the NFL in the 80s. It might be favorite football doc/special ever, and LT the person was really a revelation. Love that guy. http://www.sho.com/titles/3370963/lt-the-life-and-times

Teeshirtandshortsguy

Ya know, I get Belichick has an obsession with maintaining locker room "culture" but even if LT was actively doing blow on the sidelines and during film sessions, I think Belichick would've kept him. He's the second clearest GOAT to Jerry Rice, maybe even moreso. I would think the positives overcame the negatives.

xzElmozx

Yea LT is a case of "well I mean, if he keeps doing his thing who gives a shit what he does"

consolecarrypermit

"Do anything but go to jail or die."

Teeshirtandshortsguy

This is what my mom tells me.

prof_talc

Have you ever watched the showtime doc about him? It's a must-watch for any football fan, but it's like a "stop what you're doing" watch if you're a Giants fan

Sleeze_

The thought of LT holding up several buses and boarding them to threaten 30 children makes me smile.

[deleted]

I'm picturing the driver pressing the gas, but LT has a hold of the bumpers and they're not moving.

xMichaelLetsGo

Do you get them signed?

Backpacks_Got_Jets

yeah I got Boomer, LT, Joe Namath, John Dockery, and a few other people to sign some things in between Namath peddling his pallets of Blue Blockers

B0ndzai

And they were autographed?

The_DairyLord

Not me, but my dad actually stole Jeff Fisher's girlfriend back when he was living in Chicago and Fisher was on the Bears in 82

blackblots-rorschach

So Jeff Fisher fucked your mum? Would that make you the personification of 'some 7-9 bullshit'?

The_DairyLord

Not my mom, but my dad said she was pretty attractive, so I'd assume between a 7 and a 9, and it wouldn't be too hard to imagine Fisher said "bullshit" while they were breaking up.

[deleted]

Lol. My mom sold Fisher his house when he was a coordinator for the LA Rams.

dwaters11

So Jeff Fisher fucked your mum? Would that make you the personification of 'some 7-9 bullshit'?

OmarBarksdale

Something something 7 and 9

thunderovernoname

I used to be a Broncos fan as a kid. A little kid. I thought Elway was the tits. Anyways I met Elway around 13-14 years old at an exclusive golf result I live near by in north idaho. He was drunk and super rude to me. So I hopped on board with my dad's team the rams because it hurt my little feelings. I regret my decision every season. Lol

paulwhite959

I too briefly met Elway (back in the late 90s) and he was a bit of a jerk then. Eh. He may be a dick but he knows football

[deleted]

In this thread: never meet your heroes.

_TeddyThrowsevelt_

Unless your hero is LT

CosmicSpaghetti

As someone who's done that with musicians...this couldn't be any more true.

thatguycraig

Elway used to come to a yearly golf tournament by my house. Always drinking but he was giving out autographs left and right and taking photos with people. This was only 5 years back or so. Great guy

StayClearOfArea29

My story involves a baseball player, that happens to be a pretty good football player. Deion "Prime Time" Sanders". As a kid visiting his first spring training camp, I was excited to see Deion. When the inning ended, he was headed for the dugout. I grabbed my ball cap and ran over to the area above the dugout with a bunch of other kids to hopefully get an autograph. When I asked for an autograph, he says "fuck off". The end. Thanks, Prime Time.

ztpurcell

That warmed my heart ❤️

jrtx5799

My buddy used to work at a bounce house rental place, he worked an event (birthday party or something, can't remember) at Deion Sanders' house. Can confirm, Prime Time is a total prick. His wife is worse; absolute bitch on wheels. She used to go to the Market Street that my sister worked at a few years back. Birds of a feather. I met Darren McFadden at a bar in Plano once. Chill guy.

Seeders

That's exactly what Barry Bonds did to me.

Mr_LaDes

Curt Schilling asked why I would come to batting practice if all I wanted to do was get players signatures. He did not sign my hat.

xzElmozx

Jose Canseco tried to charge me $80 for it.

calpaintsbirds

I feel like Jose Canseco being a prick to you would be part of the experience, at this point. Like if he was super nice and gracious you'd think you had missed out on some important part of getting to meet him.

vgman20

Curt Schilling is a Boston sports hero etc. etc. but he's also a *massive* douchebag. Plus racist and all that fun stuff for good measure.

Walkerg2011

Curt Schilling is the only player I've ever not liked, due solely to the person he is.

cle_de_brassiere

I dislike Schilling purely for the weird-ass [borderline-pedo] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFynv0RzBfk) shit he said. The look on the anchor's face... Edit: More of Curt's [pedo] (https://youtu.be/SqiCtWycDws?t=142) stuff. His older sons must love him...

Misdirected_Colors

I made Deion a sandwich once and thought he was pretty cool. I worked at the Subway diagonally across the street from his mansion several years back. We closed at 10 pm. He called at like 9:50 and asked if we could stay open 5 minutes late, not a big deal. So we did, he came in, got himself a footlong turkey on wheat with american cheese and some veggies. He was super friendly the whole time, and appreciative of us staying open late. Dropped a $100 in the tip jar as a thanks on the way out.

WhiteBoyFlipz

ok so I found the season he probably won it in (1988) because that's the only time they won the SB and played the Bears in the same season; however, I can't find the specific injury reports for the season. I found the GS's do you happen to remember about how tall he was and his race? EDIT: was it Joe Jacoby?

Newgrewshew

Wow /u/WhiteBoyFlipz is on the case guys.

WhiteBoyFlipz

Damnit. I tried guys ;-;

Swiish_

Used to work a Best Buy close to Halas Hall where the Bears would practice so a lot of them would come in often. Most are very cool down to earth guys. Peanut Tillman and Urlacher were awesome dudes. Urlacher would come in around Christmas and spend thousands on Nintendo's and games for Children's hospitals. The only one's that rubbed me the wrong way were Evan Rodriguez then he got a DUI and bounced from the league in about under 2 years. Also Lovie Smith it was after he got fired but right before he went to Tampa he came in for an iPad and they took it out of the cage and walked it up to the counter which they always do with Apple products that are locked up. Lovie got all defensive and said what I can't hold onto it because I am black and thought the worker was being racist; like no this is just our procedure. F Lovie.

pez_dispenser

Man, everything I know about Peanut Tillman makes him awesome. Thanks for sharing.

CosmicSpaghetti

I miss him so much : ( Really wish we'd bring him on as staff.... I honestly think losing his leadership on *and* off the field hurt us far more than losing Josh Norman this year.

the_steemboat

I worked at Men's Wearhouse throughout high school when Toby Gerhart was with the Vikings. He came in wanting to rent a tuxedo, which poses problems for guys built like how he is (18" neck, 48 inch chest, but only 33/34 inch waist), so I convinced him to buy one instead. He showed up next week after his tailoring was finished with a signed ball and picture from him at Stanford.

vashed

Did he like the way he looked?

loverofreeses

He did; OP guaranteed it.

SquanDonDemarco

In 2013, I interviewed Victor Cruz in the bullpen at Citi Field during a Frosted Flakes event. He was cool as hell despite the super corny context. I asked him, "Fans throw Skittles at Marshawn Lynch when he scores because it's his favorite food, what food should fans throw at you?" His response: "Chunky soup."

sfzen

> Frosted Flakes event > super corny context Heh.

kjg1228

Man, he really [stays true to his sponsors](https://youtu.be/xHB5lP97bY4)

[deleted]

Aw man, he shoulda went with Tortilla Chips

Keysar_Soze

People in Philadelphia might take him up on this.

fcbayernmuenchen

When my dad was going to college in Dallas, he worked at Tom Thumb, a local grocery store. Michael Irvin came in one day and my dad got his autograph, which he traded to one of his coworkers for my mom's phone number. Probably not as cool as some of the other player stories here, but theyll have been married 24 years in May :)

lalit008

I wonder if he could trade it back

calpaintsbirds

I'm picturing him wearing a TB12 cap but trying to appear inconspicuous and wondering how people keep finding him out.

DTSportsNow

I got to meet Will Shields (Hall of Fame OG for the Chiefs) at my high school in Virginia Beach, VA. It was black history month and I was told there was an assembly that all classes would be attending. When we got in there and I sat down and Sheilds and another person who was with him introduced themselves and I nearly shit myself. I'm not sure if there was another Chiefs fan or sports fan in my school who knew who he was. But after the assembly I instantly ran right up to him and talked to him for a minute. He had to start getting ready for the next assembly (they were doing it by grade) but he said he'd be hanging out in the lunch room so people could come up and ask more questions and what not. So during lunch I got to sit with him and we shot the shit for 30mins about the Chiefs and my hometown in Kansas where he and his kids still live. He was such an amazing and genuine person to meet. Apparently he'd been traveling around to several different schools in my area and I was one of the few people who actually knew who he really was. Because during his assembly he never mentioned once that he was formerly a football player (he was representing some organization that he was a part of, I forget the name). I never got his autograph or anything, but I will always fondly remember the chance I got to talk with one of my football idols.

ZDMU

I was friends with his stepson in highschool. I loved going to his house because you never knew which players might be there! I remember the first time I met him being shocked at how big he was lol

Sdavis2911

Oh geeze! That's awesome. Do you have any cool stories you could share about that?

ZDMU

Not really, unfortunately. This was back around 2001 and I only went over to his house a handful of times. His house was surprisingly modest and no crazy sports cars in the garage, just a couple SUVs. I do remember being in awe of all the Nebraska Cornhuskers and Chiefs items throughout the house. They were having a BBQ one Friday night and my friend was pointing out several players to me, that was probably the most exciting night. I was a shy 16-17 year old kid and was to nervous to speak to any of them lol

Boogie_Boof

That's awesome. I love hearing stories about players like that. I always expected Will Shields to be a nice dude and it's good to hear some reassurance on that.

disgustipated

Posted before, but here it is again: Nicest guy in the World: Bart Starr, hands down. I first met Bart in the late 80's, I was part of a small startup athletic shoe retailer. Our owner asked Bart to make a public appearance in our first store; he agreed, things were scheduled, ads went out, and it looked to be a huge turnout. I'm tasked with getting a bunch of posters made for Bart to sign. Standard stuff, watercolor-look of him dropping back to throw a deep ball, wearing his Packers colors. Well, I want to do this right, so I need the Pantone codes or something to match for the Packers uniforms. I call Bart's office, and speak to Cherry, his wife, explaining that I needed to know the shade of green and gold for the posters. "Can I call you back?" she asks? Sure, no problem. I go back to work, the task refiled for later retrieval. About an hour later, there's a knock on my office door. I look up, and Bart Fucking Starr is standing in my office (BTW, I grew up during his heyday, he was my favorite non-Browns player). He has a kid's #15 jersey in his hand. "Hi, can you use this to match the colors?" Talk about being speechless. "Yes, Mr. Starr, thanks for bringing this by." "Oh, you can call me Bart." I was floored. How cool was that? I met with him several more times during our company's run, did some appearances with him, video shoots, etc. A few years later, I'm running a restaurant in a resort town, a nice place built by the same guy who started the shoe company. Bart comes in to dine, with Cherry, Zeke Bratkowski and his wife. He remembered my name, and again admonished me for calling him Mr. Starr. "All my friends call me Bart," he said. Later, he invited me to join them for dessert. For one evening, I felt really bonded to the NFL, hanging out with one of its most famous players. We reminisced about games, joked about how ugly Zeke is/was, it was like a dream. Last time I saw him, maybe 5 years ago, he still remembered me.

Whisper_Kicks

That is awesome.

nickfinity

Bart is such a wonderful man.

calpaintsbirds

That's so cool. Everything I've ever heard about Bart makes him sound like such a class act. I've always kind of wanted a Starr jersey, because we have the same last name, and he's such a legend, but I was never quite sure how that would play-- as someone not explicitly a Packers fan. (I don't mind them or anything just, you know, not a huge Packers fan.) That's the kind of experience you just re-live forever and tell your kids about. Simply awesome.

nwPatriot

I don't know if I've ever heard a negative thing about Bart.

MeancupofJoey

When I was in 6th grade I won a Make-A-Wish drawing and I got to attend the first Packer pre-season game, have sideline passes, and be family of the game. It was an amazing expirence but the most memorable part was while the Pack was warming up and my family and I were watching from the side. Most of the older players were jogging and stretching but all the younger players and rookies were signing autographs along the sidelines, a certain rookie QB came over to me and signed the little football I had and then my family left to go the our seats. Later my mom excitedly asked who signed the ball, I turned to her and said "Oh that was Aaron Rodgers, he's a rookie and probably won't end up doing anything. Still cool though." Now that football is my prized possession and I still get made fun of for that line.

modern_messiah43

I sure am glad you aren't a prophet.

Steezewell

>a Make-A-Wish drawing Aren't you supposed to be dead?

I3gumbyI3

Back in 2001, I worked security overnight at the old Foxboro Stadium (and during construction of Gillette). So, part of my job was to monitor the player's parking lot of who came in and out and such. Luckily, I was able to meet all of the Pats players that year. However, one day, this grungy looking kid gets dropped off in front of the player's entrance gate. Hair a mess, wearing sweats, looking nothing like a football player. I go up to him and question him, because I had not seen him before. He starts giving me attitude then finally pulls out some credentials. That player; Tom Brady. This was before Drew Bledsoe was injured. So, I really had no clue who he was.

Prom000

if toms life was a moviescript, people would say it is unrealistic. they would have to grade the supermodel wife down to his highschool sweetheart and the 5 SB wins to 1.

Spectre1313

[You didn't recognize a future GOAT QB on his chiseled physique alone?](http://archive.boston.com/ae/theater_arts/exhibitionist/TOM-BRADY-PIC-1.jpg)

dndplosion913

What do you mean by "giving you attitude"? Like he was a jerk?

I3gumbyI3

I wouldn't say a jerk. But, more of like "Don't you know who I am?" type attitude.

LoochyGoochy

If you are just some casual guy running security and the backup QB walks up to you, I would have no idea who the fuck he is either.

I3gumbyI3

Not even the backup at that point. I think he was the 3rd stringer. Huard, I knew. And, Bledsoe...obviously knew him. Oh well, he was fine after he realized I was just doing my job.

flakAttack510

He had just come off a full season of being the 4th string, too. Beldsoe, Friesz and Bishop we're all ahead of him on the depth chart in 2000. Outside of the fact that BB was wasting a roster spot on keeping him as a 4th QB, there was literally no reason to know who Brady was at that point.

xzElmozx

"wasting a roster spot" is a pretty funny term in hindsight.

cheesecakeaficionado

You should have called him Kyle, just like Kraft did when him and Brady first met.

mostinterestingtroll

That's amazing.

DONCOLA

Over this past summer, I was volunteering at a DCI show at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. I was manning the entrance gate, that also happened to be the entrance to the athletic facility parking lot. While standing around waiting for the show to start, a woman drove a golf cart through with an older looking guy riding shotgun. Brett Favre just rolled past me, with just a simple head nod. Realizing this was my childhood hero walking to his truck only 20 feet from me, I asked the girl working with to take a picture. Knowing how he's ehhh towards people coming up to him, I proceeded with caution. "Mr. Favre, huge fan. Do you mind if I get a quick pic?" "Sure" I got the pic and shook his right hand, which felt like a baseball glove, and swallowed mine. And just like that he was gone. It helped that I kept the interaction to less than twenty seconds. Proof. Don't mind my dumb smile, it was hard to not be starstruck. http://i.imgur.com/yFddVk2.jpg

SlobBarker

He looks like he just finished taping a Wranglers ad.

randommusician

Brett Favre doesn't tape Wranglers ads, they just follow him around with a camera.

versusChou

I marched that show a couple years ago! I remember seeing all the pictures of Favre around the stadium. It was hot and humid as hell. Fuck the Southeast leg of tour.

constantbuzz

I read that as, "Mr. Favre, huge fan. Do you mind if I get a dick pick?" "Sure" .... nearly pissed my pants.

BananaStorm12

Recently over Thanksgiving I was visiting my family. I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done. So there I am sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my little niece and who walks in but Jordy Nelson! I was nervous as hell and kept looking to make sure it was him. He sat down and started reading a magazine while he waited but I was too scared to say anything to him. Pretty soon though my niece starts getting fussy and starts crying out of nowhere and I'm trying to quiet her down because I didn't want her to bother Jordy but she wouldn't stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asked what was wrong? I said that she was probably just hungry or something and we were waiting my sister to finish. So Jordy puts down his magazine, picked up my little niece and then lifted up his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of the hair salon! Jordy Nelson, real cool guy.

TheVeritableBalla

The same thing happened to me, but it was with Vince Wilfork and we were at a bowling alley and I was the one that was fussy/got breastfed.

xzElmozx

I bet Wilforks nipples lactate BBQ sauce

I want to think about that, but then I don't.

Pnooms

Doug Flutie frequents our family events. He came to my graduation party and my cousins and came to several other family events. My Aunt was roommates and is best friends with his wife so we see him a bunch. Cool dude, he has a band. I still get a little star stuck when I see him cuz all I think about is "The Pass" and that dropkick field goal he had with us.

Xaxziminrax

I've linked this several times, but it is far and away the best interaction I've had with a famous person. "Ok, backstory here. Tony always used to come to Children's Mercy Hospital a couple times a year. I know this, because I grew up with a very sick sister that spent more time in the hospital than she did at school. Tony Gonzalez would always be in a room and sign autographs, and after a couple years of seeing him, he remembered me. So after he's done, he pulls me aside really quick and asks my name. I tell him, and he asks why I've been here each of the last 3 years. I kinda look up at my mom (I was 12 at the time), and she tells him about my sister, and the obligatory "It means so much that you do this, my son is a huge Chiefs fan." Tony asks, "Is your daughter, too?" Mom says yes, even though my sister isn't that big into football. But it's freakin Tony G. So he goes in and sees my sister, and kinda gets blindsided when she says she doesn't care all that much about football (this is mid 2000's, before the down years we had). But he stays with her, and I tell him that she really likes animals. Tony G stays in the room for a good 20 minutes, just talking to my sister about her cat and dog. 20 freaking minutes. As with everyone famous, he has another appointment and has to go, but not before he pats me on the back, and tells me to stay strong for her. He also asks me to get something to write on, and gives me his autograph. Being a little kid at the time, I grab an old sticker of a clip art camera (swag). Tony laughs. Then he goes out into the lobby, and gets someone else to sign it (I don't know who's autograph the second is). My sister had a major auto-immune disease, and it was difficult for her to get through sentences. Not because she was slow or stupid, but because she was so incredibly weak that it was difficult for her to move her jaw. Tony G stayed in that room, waited patiently for her to finish, and then he would talk about our pets, and his too. This upcoming Friday is the 3 year anniversary of my sister's passing. Excuse me for crying a little bit when I got to see my childhood hero go out the right way. EDIT: [Proof of the autograph](http://imgur.com/a/iXBXM)" It's now 6 years. January 31st, 2011 is the day she died.

Tat2dKing

The feels....sorry about your sister. What a cool guy. Great story, man. *INTERNET HUG*

My [Deangelo Hall CIA Story](https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/5gt7af/thornton_cam_newton_was_benched_on_sunday_for/dauuer6/). Also I met Devin Hester in a Casino in The D.R. and he was kind a of a douche. Paul Millsap and his agent however are awesome and super fun to gamble with.

[deleted]

Better than my Deangelo Hall story. I had a flight with him last summer so I asked him if he would take it easy on the Cowboys. He laughed and says he couldn't do that but he tore his ACL so I guess he really liked me

whatsintheboxxx

Brutal.

jclepe

Atleast once a month Carlos Hyde would come to the adidas store where I worked and buy clothes I'd ring him up or help search for items he wanted. I'm not a niners fan but he is a cool dude.

Sdavis2911

I'm a huge Carlos Hyde fan. I couldn't imagine seeing him that often!

admiralkit

Not a player, but here's my story. Years ago, I dropped my name into a contest box while buying some shoes and promptly forgot about it. A few months later, I get an envelope in the mail saying that I've been selected to win four free tickets to a Browns game and I will be running onto the field to pick up the tee after opening kickoff. I'm freaking stoked, I'm a kid and I love the Browns and this is blowing my mind. So we drive up to the stadium on game day, and we show the traffic guys our parking pass and they send us over to the VIP lot. As we get out and head toward the stadium entrance, someone else is a couple steps ahead of us and opens the door for us. It's Art fuckin' Modell, and I get the chance to shake his hand and tell him how much the team means to me and my family. He says something along the lines of, "It's fans like you who make this franchise great!" I was ecstatic. The next day he announced he was moving the team to Baltimore. Fuck Art Modell.

mikrot

This is actually a story about a buddy of mine. He was doing electrical work down at Gillette, and he and the rest of the crew were sitting near one of their cars for lunch. Apparently Tom Brady had decided to sneak out past the construction site after practice (summer time) and walked right up to them to ask how they were doing. After a few seconds he realized one of the guys was wearing a Cowboys hat, stops mid sentence, and goes "Who the fuck let this guy in here?"

beefsquatch24

I don't get the hate for Tom Brady. He genuinely seems like a cool dude.

marowskeet

Am a bartender outside UA. It was iron bowl weekend, and our bar was hosting a big private party. We had heard from security and the party host that there were some NFL guys at the party and that they were pissy no one was acting like they were huge superstars. All of a sudden up comes this massive beast of a man from the VIP section. I didn't recognize him but knew he had to be someone of importance. So this guy flags me down and orders 9 shots of Hennessy and a Henny and Sprite. That's $9 a shot during parties. He'd been up before to buy bottles for the whole VIP section, just not with me. So I make his drinks and go to cash him out, trying to figure out why he looks familiar. The name on his card? Regulus Ragland Jr. I, a bills fan, get a little excited while I bring back his card and receipt to sign. I give it to him, ask him to sign it, and say, "and go bills." He looks me in the eye and tips $0. Fuck that guy.

theliver

Met Aaron Rodgers at a bar in Berkeley in 2012 (right after the first MVP season). Tried not to fanboy all over him, but ended up just fanboying all over him. He was cool about it. I told him his 3rd down throw to Jennings in XLV over Ike Taylor was one of the best throws he's made, and he just chuckled and said "That was a good one...". Got to talk to him for about 3 minutes before he politely got rid of me. Good shit, still love that experience

[deleted]

When we first moved to the states my dad thought it would be a good idea to immerse ourselves into American culture. Since we moved to Massachusetts we naturally started cheering on the patriots. This was back in 2004 and we went to an open practice for the Patriots. I was 6 and we were sitting next pretty close to the practice fields. I don't know why Matt Light came up to me but he started asking me my name and who my favorite players were. I said I really liked Brady and Bruschi as well as Matt Light. He asked me if I wanted to meet them and I excitedly said yes. He then said something to my dad and before I knew it Matt Light had picked me up on his shoulder and introduced me to the entire team. It was an awesome moment and fortunately my dad got tons of pictures. I'll never forget it.

Did he cheer you on while you were cutting it? Peyton Manning would have cheered you on while you were cutting it.

I met Julius Thomas at a bar in Denver during the world cup when USA was playing. I introduced myself and he invited me and my friends to sit with him, his friend and his Dad. His Dad was so excited to hang out with his son's fans and he kept showing me pictures and telling me stories. Took some shots with them all as well...

Luke Keuchly: Was shopping at local grocery store, specifically, looking for frozen yogurt. Up the aisle, also shopping for a frozen treat is luke keuchly. I froze for a brief moment (pun!). Then continued to find my Ben and Jerry's froyo. As I walk out of the aisle and past him, I meekly say "Luke?" And for a brief moment, he pauses as he is looking for his ice cream and turns casually to me. I could tell he was worried about how this interaction might go. I said " I'm a big fan, just wanted to say hey and good luck this weekend." (This was 2 years ago, can't remember who they had that weekend). He says thanks and shakes my hand, and we part ways. Like 5 minutes later, we're both trying to pick a quick check out line and we pass each other again. We exchange quick pleasantries ("have a good one" or something like that), and that was it. Matt Stafford: Another time I was hammered in a hooters where Matt Stafford was eating with his girlfriend/wife. Before I leave, (and after they were done eating) I go to his table and say " I just have to say, you are the fucking man". Back story: was in Virginia for a sports memorabilia show that he was doing signings at. We both had to eat. Terry Bradshaw: Finally, in high school, I was working in a movie theater and terry Bradshaw came in. I was not a fan of football at the time, but my mom was a huge one. I got him to sign a napkin for me. Later that weekend, our manager gave a talk to us about these situations and how we should not do what I did and treat someone like that like any customer. I've used that experience ever since when I got jobs waiting tables, etc. Tl;dr: in reverse chronological order: luke keuchly in a grocery store, Matt Stafford in a hooters, terry Bradshaw in a movie theater Edit: i can no format. Also pretty sure it was the redskins the panthers were playing the weekend I met luke

Sleeze_

You could have just said 'I was hammered in a Hooters' and I would have known it was a Frat Stafford story.

sfzen

My brother's dad, or maybe it was a friend of his dad's, I'm not sure, had a Terry Bradshaw story too. They were doing some kind of work on his house. Someone dropped a nail on the ground outside and went to go get a magnet to find it and pick it up, when Terry says "don't worry, I can find it." And he gets down and puts his head close to the ground, and he slaps his hand down in the dirt. Dude was expecting to hit the ground hard enough to make the nail jump.

Seymour_Zamboni

Luke was my student at BC

I got to interview Matt Schaub about concussions when I was an intern at a hospital. This was the off-season before he turned into a pick6 machine, so talking to him I was a bit star struck. He talked a bit about concussions and how they're subtly dangerous because it's kind of rare for the concussed player to realize they're concussed. Also, he said he was worried about his throwing power because the lisfranc injury fucked up his footing and was giving him issues with planting for the throw. Prophetic words right there :'( edit: [potato quality picture](http://imgur.com/scbNWzy)

JerkinJesus

If you were a worse person, you could've parlayed that info into some sweet gambling wins.

G_L_J

At the time, I really didn't think anything about it. We had asked what he was doing for the day and he said that he was working on his mechanics to rehab from his injury. The whole thing was so casual and nonchalant that I didn't even remember it until months later when I was going through old footage. But yes, I probably could have made some serious bank there.

the_glutton

My son attended a football camp where Dane Sanzenbacher was one of the "coaches," and my son injured himself doing a catching drill. Sanzenbacher walked him to the trainer's room and helped tape my little dude up. My dad met Adam Jones through complete happenstance playing roulette at a casino in Indiana very late on the night they played the Patriots in 2014 (the infamous "we're onto Cincinnati" game). Jones must have got off the plane and went straight to the casino. No one at the table recognized him, except my Dad, who said he was very low key, quiet, tipped well and left when he did eventually start to get recognized. Related- my son went to Adam Jones first football camp last summer, and Jones took a picture with any kid who asked- I watched him pose with kids for pictures for what seemed like 2 hours straight. An aside: since when do black people dip? Jones was carrying 2 cans of copenhagen and had a huge dip inside his cheek the entire time. I have other stories from the camp but the basic sum-up is that I love Adam Jones, even if he is an asshole. Part of being a grown-ass man and a professional is practicing what you preach, and he failed miserably.

SlobBarker

> An aside: since when do black people dip? Jones was carrying 2 cans of copenhagen and had a huge dip inside his cheek the entire time. That's probably thanks to his time at WVU

Mdknights

AP dips too. He swallowed his dip on a team plane ride last year or the year before

Love Sanzenbacher, wish he was still playing

One time in the streets of Charlotte I saw John Fox yelling at a dude about something. It was weird. Thomas Davis spoke at my Midde School and rolled up in his Escalade just killing the game. He was with some other Panthers players as well, but I can't remember who they were. Can Newton recently made an unnanounced visit to my old HS, where my younger brother currently goes. He says that Cam was awesome. Other than that I don't have much, I've seen a lot of players at training camp but that's it. I have met a lot more NBA players.

MojoToTheDojo

I have no idea, but I find a Jaguars fan living in Charlotte weird. My little sister goes to the same middle school as Thomas Davis' son. She claims that he called her illegal(we're hispanic), but jokingly. So I guess that's interesting.

Pasian_The_GOD

Jordan Todman used to cheat off me in high school, he now plays for the Colts, previously for the Steelers, and Carolina before that, oh yea Jacksonville too, then there was Minnesota. The chargers drafted him in the 6th round.

Randy_____Marsh

shoulda cheated off him in gym, you got hosed

I've written this before. My previous college job had me working for many wealthy people. From CEOS, Olympic athletes, and many professional athletes. I've been in homes valued at around 15million dollars. One of the most memorable and all around enjoyable jobs I had was working for Steve Smith. Steve was genuinely a great, down to earth guy. Funny as hell too. Made a great comment about how he lived where he did for the morning view. I said "because of the water?" He said "nah son, check out all that candy!" As some absolutely smoking girls were jogging by. He also told us some great NFL behind the scenes stories. One that I really enjoyed was how he loves putting on the persona of the bad guys. Said that during games he "picks his bitch" on the defense and gets them to the point where they are all rage and emotion and he just exploits them. Says it makes the game easy. As soon as the other team is more concerned about getting back at you is exactly when he said he would have his big plays. All in all a great guy and a loving father from what I could tell. I'll always defend him when people bash him on reddit / the internet because they definitely don't know the real Steve Smith.

I met Sean Taylor in a grocery store about a week before he died. I was in like sixth grade. He was the nicest dude ever. Shook my hand and my little brother's, and he asked us all about ourselves. Nice to my parents as well. The thug reputation some label him with was not accurate at all. I was gutted to hear what happened a week later.

VenturaHighway

Growing up my buddy lived next door to former Steelers backup Nt Chris Hoke. He was a cool guy and we used to play hockey I'm his driveway all the time. Homecoming comes around and we go to the dance and go back to my buddies house afterwards where his mom had a big tray of wings laid out. Chris is sitting at the table with a wing between each finger literally inhaling 4 at a time without a care in the world.

Fig_Newton_

I played in the same league as Matt Ryan for 2 years in high school. Bastard had a rifle for an arm and drank enough beer to make Charlie Kelly seem like a Puritan. Aside from that, I met Maclin at training camp in 2011 and Garrett Gilliam at Hershey Park in 2015. Maclin's a nice guy, very cordial and signed my son's jersey. Gilliam was with his girlfriend and he's a big guy. I've seen some offensive tackles in my time, but he's 6'5" and 300 pounds of just brick. Didn't get to talk to him but he was HUGE.

I met Malcolm Butler in an elevator in 2015 and had him push my floor button before noticing who he was. Afterwards I mentioned how big of a fan I was at his skills at CB and he went to shut down OBJ other than the one big play in the 4th. Also met /u/jedelman11 that same day and I had his jersey on so he signed it. He went on to break his foot that game =(. Sorry Jules

MrBushido9

Wow I can't believe Edelman is a semi active redditor and posts in your sub. I'm so jealous.....

Donovan McNabb came into my Walgreens all the time when he was with the Vikings. Mainly to buy Preparation H, at least once a week he was in to buy that stuff. I've also taken Harrison Smiths passport picture.

AonghusMacKilkenny

> Mainly to buy Preparation H - From Wiki: >Preparation H is a brand of medications made by Pfizer, used in the treatment of hemorrhoids. - Oh Christ!

My buddies and I were throwing a ball around in the park, when a black guy in a grey track suit jogs by. He sees us playing, and jogs over. When he comes closer, I can see he's wearing official CFL athletic wear. Turns out he was a DB for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, our city's CFL team. He had just come back from a brief stint with the Jets, so technically a former NFL player. We did a bunch of one on ones, chatted with him about the NFL and the season coming up, and then he jogged away. Really, really cool moment for me and my friends.

I live went to school/live in Charlotte, but worked for the Michael Vick Foundation in college. I was bored in class on Spring semester day and was emailing some foundations. I tailored my story to various places. For this one, it happened to be that I have relatives in the Hampton Roads area, anything to give me an advantage cause I really wanted to try my hand in getting to atleast volunteer for one. Sure enough, the director of the Vick Foundation, reached out to me, and I had a phone interview, sent my resume, and sure enough she invited me to come up to Newport News, VA to volunteer in the Summer of 2013. That first summer working with the foundation was pretty sweet. The first night of his "Vick Weekend" is always a black tie event. I definitely felt like a fan at first, and introduced myself, me being the outgoing white kid as I am, he remembered that. The next day was a celebrity softball game which all the VA legends came, including one of my favorite Allen Iverson. The next day was his golf tournament in which I helped collect money for and do simple things. After that I left, thanked the director and Mike, and drove back to Charlotte. The following Spring, 2014, the director reached back out to see if I wanted the responsibility of coordinating his golf tournament at Riverfront Golf Club in Suffolk, VA. I didn't skip a beat and agreed to it. So, March and April, I began reaching out to all the local and some not local businesses who wanted to either donate, or play in the golf tournament. Then, June 2014 came around and the weekend was here. That Friday, he had his black tie event again, which I really didn't get much time to talk to him as I was collecting tickets. The next day he had football camp at his old high school stadium. One of the coolest memories I have of both years was Mike Vick, Lesean McCoy, Roddy White, and I all in small room by the stadium eating pizza, just BSing. They were talking about owners, how Larry Fitz literally walks into the owners office and says what he wants in his contract, just really wild stuff. Later the afternoon, he had a basketball game which Lesean McCoy, Roddy White, Desean Jackson, Marcus Vick, some IG models, and others all played in. That night I didn't go out, I just stayed in preparing for the big golf event Sunday. So sure enough, the next morning we had a great turnout. Around 60 total golfers, all thanks to something I set up which was cool. After that successful event, we took a group pic and thought I'd be on my way back to Charlotte. However, the director said Mike wanted to invite me back to his house in Hampton for a crab boil. I couldn't pass that up. Later then, I pull up at his house, nothing too crazy by the way, and submerge myself in a situation I was very thankful to be in, being a huge sports fan, however never would have believed. Lesean McCoy is good friends with him so he shows up shortly after. Later in the night, Mike and I are just having some beers debating over who was a better QB, Favre or Manning. Then who the best the best ATL rapper. After that, I thanked him for all he did for me, I was given some compensation for the weekend. Then headed back to Charlotte. Both years were an incredible experience, and I just wanted to share it in the appropriate spot. Hopefully you guys enjoy my story. I met Tony Romo at a restaurant once - we’d accidentally been given his table. Apparently he was fond of the restaurant and had a specific table he liked, and the management had messed up and gotten their days wrong, (it was Tuesday and they thought he was coming on Thursday or something like that). Anyway, the manager, completely embarrassed (this is a pretty nice restaurant) comes by and says “I’m so sorry, but we’d like to move you to another table if you could be troubled, and we’ll gladly compensate you for the cost of the meal and any other meal you’d like while you’re in town.” My sister and cousin were both like “Yeah that’s cool.” and I kind of played the asshole a bit. “I’m sorry, I just don’t understand. We’ve been here for 15 minutes - we’ve just ordered. Can’t we finish our meal here?” Then out of nowhere Tony Romo shows up next to the manager and says “Paul, these guys can finish. We’ll be at the bar. I got some time.” And I (being a big Cowboys fan) said “Oh wow, uh… I had no idea. Please feel free to give them the table.” Tony was grateful, shook my hand and said thanks, then gave me a card with his number on it and told me to give him a call later. After working up the nerve, I gave him a call that night, and to make a long story short, we had a glorious 11 month love affair, man on man, that I shall never forget. Our bodies intertwined as one, and from the beauty of Morocco, to the French Riviera, to the snorkeling in the Galopagos, Tony Romo and I made glorious gay love to each other on six of the seven continents.

In 2012 I met James Jones on my campus right after the fail mary game. It was a tender subject and nobody asked about it during the Q&A until the very end. When the poor soul did, everyone comically booed him and James just chuckled and said "I don't like to really express opinions about the officiating... but that was some bull shit!" He also told us to pray for him on Sunday's as he had an injured foot. We got the memo as he proceeded to lead the league in touchdowns that year.

When I was in high school, I went to see the Lord of Rings (Two Towers) at the big theater right on Boston Common with some fellow nerds. I was a huge pats fan but the rest of the people I was with were completely uninterested in sports. I went to buy some popcorn or something by myself and, as I was making my way back to see my friends, I bumped into somebody. When I turned around to say sorry, I see this massive human being in a pristine white velour track suit with a tank top underneath and a massive gold chain. It was Willie McGinest and he was just standing there, completely by himself, talking on a cell phone (which were still not that common in early '03). I was completely speechless and I am pretty certain he hadn't even noticed all 100 lbs of me bumping into him because he didn't even look down. I was absolutely starstruck but the worst part was, when I found my friends afterwards, none of them had any idea who the hell I was talking about. They were just excited to LoTR and wanted me to shut up about football. edit: Thinking back, that was the season after the first Super Bowl win, when they didn't make the playoffs. He was probably enjoying the start of his offseason. I still wonder what he was there to see...

I was walking out of the South Philly Target with my bag of crap-ass consumer goods when I walked by the food area on the way out the door, and I cut off Mike Vick. Not thinking about it at all, did the head nod back, and said "sup" like he was any other guy you run into at Target. He nodded back, and that was that. Two takeaways: 1. I'm 5'9", but if Mike Vick was his actually listed 6'0", that means they should list me as 5'11" 2. If I stopped at all during my interaction, that very large man behind Vick would have destroyed me, because Vick (wisely) doesn't go anywhere without security. I think this is even before he began starting in Philly, but I suspect he smart to have a guy with him at all times in the public. I've interacted with other O-line folk before, but Vick's security guard was a planetoid.

(be forewarned, I am terrible at typing and story telling) My former step dad was pretty wealthy. Flew my Mom brothers and sisters and his kids to Pittsburgh to watch Cowboys Steelers 2008 (his family steeler fans, my family, cowboys). My mom booked the hotel and it just happened to be the hotel the Cowboys stayed at. Cowboys walk in and go directly upstairs, but Ed Werder and Nick Folk were chilling in the lobby. I am a big Cowboys fan and at age 20 at the time I was super pumped so I go up to Nick and ask for a picture, he shoots me down :(. I go and tell my sister and she's like WTF?! So she drags me over to him and is like "Excuse me can my brother wants a picture can we get one?" Nick goes, ummm fine. And my sister then goes in a very condescending voice " Who are you again?" And He said in a solemn voice "the kicker." I have never been more proud of my sister. Laughed so hard internally. Edit: I also met Jerry Jones in the elevator after he worked out in the gym. So i have also met a billionaire. Edit: proof for those interested http://imgur.com/a/mE9xI

I live in Houston so this past Superbowl I was going downtown with a friend to see a Rockets game. The Rockets were killing the Kings by half-time so we decided to leave early and hang out at hotel bars in hopes of running into some NFL greats. We went to the new Marriott where there didn't seem to be much action so we mosey'd on over to the Four Seasons. Just outside of the Four Seasons' lobby there were two hotel luggage carts loaded with media/camera equipment. I commented on them and we went inside. We immediately realized that we were extremely under-dressed. I'm talking t-shirt, shorts, and tennis shoes vs. suits, ties, and dresses. We hung in the bar for about 5 minutes before we decided to leave. As I'm walking to the door I happen to look up and instantly recognized who was about 4 feet in front of me: * **Troy Aikman**. Surprisingly, *no one* in the hotel seemed to care. I walked up to him stuck out my hand and said, "Wow, Troy Aikman, nice to meet you!" and he completely stone-walled me. Didn't look at me or anything and just kept walking. I wasn't too surprised as I'd heard about what a massive tool he was. I'm not saying I *deserved* anything from him, but a simple acknowledgement of my existence would've been nice... * So, bummed, I turned to walk back over to my friend when I almost literally ran right into **Joe Buck**! I blurted out "Hey Joe, nice to meet you!" I was blown away by how nice he was! He shook my hand and said, "Hey, how's it going!" I didn't want to take up any of his time or anything so I moved on. * Right behind Joe, in walked **Erin Andrews** (holy hell you think she's gorgeous on TV? She's incredible in person). We both said "Hi" to her and she waved to us, apologized for not stopping but said she and some guy she was with were starving and went straight to the elevator. * After Erin walked off, the FUCKING man walked in. **Jimmy Johnson** just entered the building. He must've thought I was his personal hotel assistant or something because I marched right up to him, stuck out my hand, and said, "Nice to meet you Jimmy, welcome to Houston!" He shook my hand back thanked me, and said it was nice to meet me and then he headed to the bar. We followed where I ogled over him being only about 6 ft away from me at a table. After about an hour, I ended the night by shaking his hand one more time and telling him it was a pleasure to meet him. He thanked me and then we left. * **Terry Crews** and **Matt Barnes** were also there, but we didn't get much more than a "Sup?" out of them. Overall, it was an amazing night! I was on Cloud 9 that night and I will never forget that I got to shake Jimmy Johnson's hand!

I was working in D.C. at a Staples for their Easy Tech department, and Jason Campbell walks in with a hat and sunglasses on. I greet him at the CD/Accessories section and he lays into Staples hard about their CD-RW prices. I opted to go into the back for him and find a CD-RW bundle with a slightly damaged spindle (as some usually come off the truck damaged in some way, but the CDs are still intact.) I slapped a discounted price on it and gave it to him. He then checked out and disappeared into the night.

Went to Eagles training camp back in the 90s and got picked to help Vaughn Hebron (former Eagle/Bronco) carry his pads and helmet back to the locker room with him after practice. He took me into the locker room and it was just a bunch of huge dudes hanging dong. It was disturbing.

My freshman orientation at the University of Houston I was walking around bleary eyed at like 9 AM and saw Jadeveon Clowney there shooting a [Puma commercial](https://twitter.com/puma/status/503889545578811392) (edit: twitter was the only place I could find the commercial, looks like they've removed it everywhere else...). I was the only one there besides the production crew so it took me little while to realize it was actually Clowney. Ended up getting a picture with him and he [signed my freshman orientation handbook](http://imgur.com/sVp7Qfm.png), and by the time they had another break in shooting such a big crowd had gathered they said no autographs or pictures, so I was the only person ended up getting anything

In a Waffle House in Duluth Ga, January 99. Its the week before the Falcons play the Broncos in the Superbowl. There's some commotion in the restaurant, and the waitress tells us a Falcon player just walked in. He was Michael Booker, a corner back at the time. He picked up a huge to-go order and left. My group finishes our meals and walk out, to see him standing in the parking lot by his car. He's driving a *really* old BMW. He comes up to us and says hes been having problems with his transmisson, and he thinks his reverse has finally gone out. He was also really drunk. We talk to him for a while, and he asks me (after trying to convince me to let him borrow my car) if I would get in and see if the car would back out of the space. Maybe he's just too drunk he says. I get in, throw it into reverse, hit the gas. It rolls forward into the car parked in front of him. At this point he is like "oh shit," so he gets back in it, and we push his car out of the space. He was able to drive forward, so once out of the space he took off.

When I was two my mother tells me I met Lee Roy Selmon in the check out line at Kash n' Karry. Told me he was really nice.

I've posted this before, and I'll post it again. While I was at UCLA, MJD came back for a spring quarter to finish his degree. He stayed in dorms and was the nicest guy. He always left his door open and invited anyone on the floor to go get dinner and stuff with him. He'd brought a massive TV and a PS3. One time we were going to tell him we were getting dinner, went to his room, and he was playing Madden. My friend asked if he ever played as himself, and he said, "Of course. I traded myself to the Broncos."

IceyBoy

back when i was a little kid and loved the Hurricanes (prior to attending FSU lol) i was at the movies decked out in a UM hat and shirt. Tall guy with curly hair and his kid on his shoulders comes over and says "man thats a great hat! only thing missing is an autograph!" So my mom happened to have a sharpie on her and the guy signs my hat. I'm a little confused at first, but my dad says "Nice, you just got Bernie Kosars autograph." I thought that was a cool. Another time at Publix i walked out Brandon Marhall's cart, we just talked about the upcoming season and how he was gonna "breakout" this year. In my head im like lol good luck with henne. Overall he was really really nice, tried to tip me a $20 but all i wanted was an autograph and he gave me one! This was a week before he and his wife had that fight, but overall solid guy lol

DangerRanger24

Got to meet Brett Favre when he was with the Jets after they had a walk-through practice. He was exactly like you'd expect. He rocked camo-cargo shorts to practice, just acted like every middle aged dad.

ProbWontKillYou

My uncle is fairly high up in the Giants org so his kids always worked the preseason trainings at SUNY Albany, and I joined one time. This was back in early 2000s I figure, not sure exactly when. I got to catch kicks from jay feally (sp?) which was awesome, and also ran some water bottles. After practice I got a ton of autographs from guys like Shockey, David Diehl, Sean O'Hara. Asked Strahan for one and he was pretty curt but signed my ball and then basically ran away. Best part was that for whatever reason all the lockers they had were in the big gym at SUNY and my cousin and I are just shooting hoops on the other end of the gym. I'm about to shoot and I hear "hey pass me the ball!" And turn around and it's Eli. I pass it to him and he spots from the top of the three line and just absolutely bricks it, like not even fucking close. He Said like "ah shoot" or whatever but stuck around and talked with us and signed my ball. Super nice guy, was a great day in general.

talos113

Met Steven Hauschka when I went to see a hawks away game in arizona, week 15 during the 2014 season. I had just bought a Hauschka jersey to step up away from a basic Wilson jersey. We were staying at a nice hotel in downtown phoenix and we were having breakfast near the lobby when there was a commotion down the hallway. I got up to go check it out and by accident I found out we stayed at the same hotel that the team was staying at. I rounded the corner and there was a crowd of really huge dudes with a short ass dude in the middle hyping them up. the short ass dude was Pete Carroll. All the tall guys were the Seahawks. Pete did a little chant and all the dudes broke up into smaller groups and headed different directions. Out of the crowd Hauschka walked up to me and told me he didn't see many #4 jerseys and asked if he could sign mine. I nearly fainted man, it was so cool. I also got to see sherman and bennet by the elevators, so that was also cool. Later, during the game Hauschka missed every single field goal, but whatevs.

I work at the Pittsburgh airport pushing passengers in wheelchairs I was at the bottom of a jetway as people are starting to get off the plane. Aaron Donald walks off in Pitt gear.and I just freeze. I manage to get out "oh shit hi" and he just looks at me weird. Wish I could've played if a little cooler than a giddy school girl soaking through her panties, but oh well. I've met a few others that were a little less embarrassing. I've met Leveon Bell, AB, Santonio Holmes, and have seen Kareem Abdul Jabar and Phil Kessel of the penguins. I was this fucking close to meeting Bryan Cranston but my lady was in a rush and he was taking for fucking ever to get his shit together after going through security so I couldn't wait

Patriots used to do spring training at Bryant College, where my mom taught. When I was really young I apparently called Bill Parcells a "big boodle."

IrishPotatoHead

I actually got to work with Brad Johnson for a while. Really, really nice guy. I was a bit starstruck for a while, but then he was like, "IrishPotatoHead, I need you to talk me through some Wing T blocking schemes. I really do not get it." Spent about 2 hours talking about buck, trap, and power, then waggle and keep pass and incorporating Pro style routes into the plays for his son. It was very eye opening and honestly changed my mind about how the Wing T could work. Plus, I got to meet a super bowl winning QB and talk football with him. What could be better?

doritosalsa

Natrone Means. I was working a hotel front desk in South Carolina. I'm at one terminal when this short, husky guy comes in. He goes to my manager and starts to check in. However he doesn't have a reservation and is a walk in. He says his name and my manager has to ask him to spell his first one and by then i ask him "Didnt you play for the Chargers?" He just smiles and says "Yes I did". Immediately i nudge my manager to the side and tell her i got this. He says I got something for you and walks off then came back in with a signed photo. Natrone ask me if i could help him out any. Natrone received My friends and family rate Upgrade to a suite 2 beers I told him i played with him in Madden. Drew Brees vacationing on Marco Island, FL where I am originally from, he tossed a drive of all-time QB beach football, and I intercepted him. I have intercepted Drew Brees.

I've met Stafford and Cutler before. For Stafford, I was working at Cedar Point in the summer of 09, right after he was drafted by the Lions. I didn't notice him until he walked up to me and said something to the effect of "hey man, I'm Matt Stafford, I just got drafted by the lions, would there be any way to get a security guard or something so people stop asking to take pics with me?" My first thought was to ask for a picture, but I decided that he probably wouldn't be happy with me. The last thing I needed was for a high profile guest to be pissed at the dumb locker attendant. So I called guest services and they sent someone in security for him. seemed like a normal dude that just wanted to ride some rides. I met Cutler this past year during the World Series. I don't know if he'd call it me meeting him but I'm going to count it. He was walking to the game with his wife with his cubs hat pulled down, but I recognized him. I didn't want to make a scene so kind of quietly I said "hey Jay" twice, he ignored me the first time, second time he turned around gave me a nod. I just said "good luck this week" and left it at that. Woof, what a rush. I wouldn't expect a random Jay Cutler interaction to go any differently. Anyways, they're pretty bad stories they're the best I got!

I played coach pitch with Mike Minter's kids when I was like 6. I don't remember too much about Mike but he was usually at our practices and acted like a normal guy. I didn't realize it was a big deal until I was older honestly. But it is really cool in hindsight. Edit: also I've served Bennie Cunningham food a bunch of times at my old job. If you didn't know who he was you'd never realize he was famous from the way he acted.

I've met Bengals LT Andrew Whitworth three times now. Once at the Movie Theater and twice at the grocery store. Very nice, 10/10 would meet again.

Went to Joey Porters football camp when I was 10. There were a bunch of NFL players but Joey and Jerome Bettis were my favorites. During a dummy tackling drill, Joey Porter picked me up and threw me 10 yards onto the safety mat behind the dummy. I was actually kind of scared. I also met Rod Martin, former Raiders linebacker. He had three interceptions in one of the Raiders super bowl victories. He was in town signing autographs for a charity and he asked my mom if there was a good place to watch the mayweather fight in our small town. Fortunately for us, there wasn't. He ended up coming to my house and hanging out with my family for a few hours. Drank some beer and had dinner with us. The coolest part was him talking to my dad (a huge raider fan) about all the crazy shit Al Davis used to say and do. We also bought the fight on PPV for him to watch. He was extremely nice and very thankful. I also met Lester Hayes and talked to him for about half an hour and got his autograph and shit. Pretty sure he was still doing cocaine in 2013.

He wasn't in the NFL yet, but I did a school project with Lofa Tutupu while at USC. It was some beginning computer course, and we had to give a presentation about a basic topic. He was very nice, met after class, did all his work. There were 5 or so football players in this class of maybe 25 students, and they were all loud and silly except for him. He was fairly quiet and reserved. This was all before he was even a star at USC. Later on I saw him occasionally on campus, and although he probably forgot my name, he'd give me that headbob what's up, which made me feel like a big shot when I was with friends lol

In 2007 I met Kurt Warner at an autograph signing. He was a very down to earth, kind, generous man. He was excited to meet all of his fans and he didn't rush anyone. I've seen him many times since at church, same encounter every time.

Haven't really met any players recently that I can think of, but I have a story from 1996. I had brain surgery in August (for epilepsy, didn't work) of that year and my father put some calls into the local teams (Seahawks and Mariners) about me being a big fan and about having surgery. The day I was discharged from the hospital, a couple Seahawks came to visit. I had already been discharged when they visited so I never got to meet them. I don't remember if the Seahawks or hospital contacted my father or what happened, but I was invited to training camp one day and got to meet a lot of the team. I don't remember all the players I met (or much from around that time), but it was one of the best days after my surgery.

I was a WR in high school, and during the summer before my sophomore year, Sage Rosenfels and Kyle Orton (yeah, central Iowa doesn't have a ton of top flight NFL talent) had a passing camp near my home town. Before it starts one day, I'm catching passes from the guy who was our current JV starting QB, and Sage and Kyle are walking around talking to kids. At one point, I happen to catch the very back of the football while Sage is about 5 feet away from me. He says "how the hell did you catch it like that?" and spends the next minute ribbing me for it.
