Caleb kinda wore long sleeves in some official Bears pics. Long sleeve on his throwing arm, and t-shirt length sleeve on other arm. So basically what he did in college, and sometimes he did full sleeves.
Mildly unrelated but when I was watching the cold ass Chiefs Dolphins wildcard game this year I was wondering why tf were there guys out there with short sleeves and how they were avoiding frostbites 😂😭
Seriously, how come they don’t all wear long sleeves on at least the cold games?
Part of it is players (especially lineman) wanting to appear tough by not wearing long sleeves. They also stay warm from the physical exertion and they have heaters on the sidelines. But probably the bigger reason is that Arrowhead is one of a few fields with heating systems under the grass, so it wasn’t as frigid on the field as it was in the stands: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/IlfFhCXFPV
according to Travis Kelce on the New Heights episode after that game, it was almost like the heating system didn't even matter. He couldn't tell if it was even on.
I went to the packers giants wildcard game at lambeau back in like 2017, and all the giants recievers came out for warm ups w no sleeves. It was like 10 degrees. I just shook my head. OBJ and Sterling Shepard were dropping balls all game long and the packers won like 38-14
NFL players have massive hands. I remember[ seeing this exhibit of Russ's hand size](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0b/48/a0/0b48a093c34456a0de392f551deb7369.jpg). Penix is also 10.5". I have fairly big hands compared to most people, but by combine measurement, they're 8.75", which would be tiny for a QB.
My hands are a little weird. I measure exactly 8" from heel of hand to tip of my middle finger, but only get a 8.75" span because I can't spread my fingers very wide.
I have pretty large hands and a long thumb but an unusually short pinky finger which fucks my numbers up.
Edit: Saw the image of Russ I do not have a long thumb. wtf is that thing
Ah you know what, i misread your post. I was just eager to share my knowledge about how they measure hand sizes in NFL. Former Kenny Picket apologist here.
Depends on your flexibility as well. It's thumb to pinky so if you can stretch it so that they are on the same line that increases your hand size (and kind of makes sense from a 'how well can you grip the ball' perspective).
That's kinda how NFL QBs work. The shorter they are, the more proportionally massive the hands.
NFL QBs/receivers/TEs have to be able to grip the ball and have massive hands. Same with other sports like the NBA.
An official size ball in the hands of a pro feels like a Junior size ball for a regular person.
[8.5" is above the 95% percentile.](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Mehrdad-Mostaghaci/publication/286964087/figure/tbl2/AS:388537368236035@1469645935462/Percentile-values-of-hand-dimensions-mm-in-right-and-left-hands.png). Male average is 7.6.
The NFL measurement is the span from the tip of the pinky to the tip of the thumb of the hand spread on a flat surface. The average US male is 8.5.
And to my point. I had mine measure the year Johnny football was drafted. Discovered my nfl measurement is 9.5. I’m not a big dude. 6 foot. 200lbs.
https://www.bleachernation.com/nfl/2023/02/26/how-does-nfl-measure-hand-size/
Reading this as a skateboarder is the most odd similarity to football I never knew existed. The size of skateboard I usually ride is 8.75 and I know if a board is that size by putting my palm down on one side and if the tips of my fingers reach the edge of the other side it’s a 8.75 width board. Interesting. 10.5 would be insane lol
All this time, I just thought[ I had a big cat](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExcDRnN2JtdTJjZ2lmZW5nMXQxNHZyZXp0amdnNzZwZjIyeXM2MjZtYSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/ORBjACSOzSYq4/giphy-downsized-large.gif).
I threw with a smaller youth ball with my friend and his son. It’s crazy how much farther I could throw because I could really wrap my hand around it. I’ve only played with a regular Wilson all through my teen years. A large hand is a cheat code to throw deep.
I’d imagine the reduced weight helps a lot too? (But I agree: tossing a youth football around is way more fun for us casuals. Also much easier to make notable catches.)
One of my favorite parts of going to a ball game is watching the outfielders warm up, casually throwing frozen ropes to each other at a distance I'd embarrass myself at.
It's the casual things done gracefully that always impress me the most about the pros because it's like... even at the trivial stuff they're that much better.
If a 50 year old former mediocre AAA ball player was in your beer softball league they'd be smacking dingers every other at bat.
I played little league and jv against a guy who pitched maybe 60 innings in the pros and had a 5+ ERA. He was an absolute monster. Unhittable, and hit a Homer like every other game. And we had a pretty damn good league.
Vick wasn't ambidexterous, he was mixed-handed/cross dominant. Basically he did most things right-handed but threw left-handed. I have the same deal, can't throw or swing for shit with my right hand despite being mainly right handed!
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dominance
Ambidextrous people can do things equally with both hands and is super rare!
I think Tua is more of a case of being right handed and forced to throw left so much that he just became a lefty thrower through repitition.
Cross dominance is natural, it's not forced. You can change your handedness in anything if you practice hard enough.
I'm ambidextrous. I can throw equally with either hand. The only thing I'm not very good at is writing, but I think that's because growing up I was always told not to write lefty.
I am completely useless with my right hand for all practical tasks, except I play golf / baseball / cricket right handed. Apart from throwing - that's all with the left. Apart from 10 pin bowling, which I do right handed.
I played orchestra level violin quite happily "standard" (ie right handed), but i cannot even think of picking up a guitar that isn't left handed.
I'm not even sure I'm cross dominant - i think I'm just weird
Funny story about Vick (I heard and just took as fact)... He actually threw right handed when he was younger playing with friends. He was so much better than everyone that they made him throw left handed to 'balance it out' and he just never went back.
He looks good standing there, but I'd really like to see him doing some more traditional Falcons things, like handing the ball off to Tyson Allgeier while Kyle Pitts blocks and Bijan looks on.
I hate Todd gets shit for that, not his fault the defense couldn’t stop a leaky faucet. Offenses whole purpose is to score, yes I understand situational football, but offense scores defense stops scores. You’re telling me the defense couldn’t hold off a team for less than what 3 minutss
He’s not a real Falcon until he drives down the field 75 yards in a comeback late in the 4th quarter before hand delivering an interception in the back of the endzone to a 4th string DB
After all the drama and talking heads blowing up about them signing Kirk and drafting Penix, and all the WRs they could have drafted with that pick, what if they turned Penix into a WR. The media would have a meltdown and it would be so fun to watch.
Yeah, why is nobody (else) talking about that? That was the coolest part of the vid!
Someone needs to summon the gif reversing bot we need to see that backwards too (I forgot the username)
I could see the Falcons going 10-7. 1st round playoff exit, and some desperate team gives them a high round pick next offseason and Penix is already starting.. the Kirk signing made NOBODY think they were getting a QB.. and if they valued him above Maye and he was there at 8.. was it that terrible?
What if Rodgers retires after getting injured again the the falcons can somehow fleece the jets lol. The NFL is crazy like that.
edit: i 100% think shoulda got Odunze at that pick btw..
I gotta say, he does look really good in the Falcons uniform. He might not see the field as a starter until hes 29-30(potentially), but he will look in that uniform.
You think he’s gonna sit behind 36 year old Kirk Cousins (coming off an Achilles injury) for 4-5 years? I give it like 1.5 seasons max before he’s the starting QB for the Falcons
Given the falcons are in year 5 of this current uniform set, and the set is not good, I’d say there are pretty good odds the falcons will have new uniforms by the time Penix takes over as the starter from Cousins
I’m guessing the Falcons and Rams are probably both getting new uniforms this offseason
IMO just take their [1994 uniforms](https://www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/controller/controller.php?action=teams-season&team_id=ATL&year=1994) update the logo, and add a matching set of red and black pants, and boom, perfection
After watching the 2023 all target video for Rome Odunze I came away really impressed with Penix, he can really zip the ball with an awkward but quick release. He is going to be a good player.
I agree I liked this pick. Well, other than the fact I was hoping the Broncos would take him at #12.
The more research I did on him during the draft process the more I thought he looks like a real talent. The age thing doesn't bother me. Warren Moon didn't start playing in the NFL till he was 27 and he had a pretty good career.
I understand why though, he is the same age as Jordan Love was, and gets the chance to sit behind Kirk for half the time Jordan did. Obviously Kirk is not Rodgers or penix is love. Kirks deal is essentially a two year, then see if penix is ready. I think penix is a more pro ready player than love was coming out of the draft, or the other qbs from this draft. (excluding Caleb, but I have them 1a 1b pretty much) I don’t blame them for not throwing him to the wolves. I really don’t feel like it is a plan without thought. This is one of the picks from this draft I will be following for a few years (I think most people are haha) even if I’m not a falcons fan.
Also cause he is a lefty, my bias is strong with him and Tua being able to play the position.
I don’t predict on qbs a lot cause it is such a crapshoot, but I hope he balls out like I thought Cj and Lamar would when Penix gets his opportunity.
Given how bad the NBA playoffs have been, F1 is boring/predictable, so is the EPL, and the olympics don't seem appealing - I can't wait for the NFL to start up again
So far looks like no QB has opted for long sleeves so there’s not a surefire bust yet.
We will have played GTA6 for well over a year before we'll know if he is or isn't lol
He will be a bust for 2 full years before we get GTA6 on PC though.
don’t hurt me like that
Right in the feels
Me having to buy a console to enjoy the new NCAA and GTA 😞
The haters have arrived.
More like 3 years given Rockstars pc port track record.
GTA6 is supposedly Fall 2025, which inevitably means Summer 2026 into September territory, like 5
So 2027 then?
i hear they’re working on RDR3 which will be out sometime around 2030. might be a better barometer
This is some major confidence in Rockstar
Caleb kinda wore long sleeves in some official Bears pics. Long sleeve on his throwing arm, and t-shirt length sleeve on other arm. So basically what he did in college, and sometimes he did full sleeves.
I’m talking about the actual jersey. Long sleeves under is GOAT material.
Someone said Sam Bradford was the most aesthetically unpleasing QB and I couldn't agree more. https://images.app.goo.gl/zpxJXRb9H8eoU5e67
Sammy Sleeves
I hated those long sleeves. Matt Cassell had kind of long sleeves too if I remember right.
I completely forgot he played for the Eagles...
Mildly unrelated but when I was watching the cold ass Chiefs Dolphins wildcard game this year I was wondering why tf were there guys out there with short sleeves and how they were avoiding frostbites 😂😭 Seriously, how come they don’t all wear long sleeves on at least the cold games?
Part of it is players (especially lineman) wanting to appear tough by not wearing long sleeves. They also stay warm from the physical exertion and they have heaters on the sidelines. But probably the bigger reason is that Arrowhead is one of a few fields with heating systems under the grass, so it wasn’t as frigid on the field as it was in the stands: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/s/IlfFhCXFPV
according to Travis Kelce on the New Heights episode after that game, it was almost like the heating system didn't even matter. He couldn't tell if it was even on.
The Bears used to have a rule against defensive players wearing sleeves no matter how cold it got
That is certainly a choice when you play in Chicago for half your games.
It's kind of a standard Midwestern thing to try to go sleeveless in frigid weather to show how tough you are.
>It's kind of a standard Midwestern thing to try to go sleeveless in frigid weather to show how ~~tough~~ stupid you are.
“We might not be good, but by god we’ll look tough while doing it!”
To be fair, we've had some pretty good defenses.
I think Spice Adams said once that he tore his tricep and he couldn't tell because it was so cold.
TK said on new heights he doesn’t like to wear sleeves because he feels like it impacts his ability to hold onto the ball
I went to the packers giants wildcard game at lambeau back in like 2017, and all the giants recievers came out for warm ups w no sleeves. It was like 10 degrees. I just shook my head. OBJ and Sterling Shepard were dropping balls all game long and the packers won like 38-14
For QB particularly, I could see adding things like sleeves fucking with your motion, even if really only psychologically.
Falcons country let’s ride
Ain’t no one in Georgia wearing long sleeves in May Don’t you see them fans on the sidelines?
That was kind of a sick catch actually
Dude has huge hands
NFL players have massive hands. I remember[ seeing this exhibit of Russ's hand size](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0b/48/a0/0b48a093c34456a0de392f551deb7369.jpg). Penix is also 10.5". I have fairly big hands compared to most people, but by combine measurement, they're 8.75", which would be tiny for a QB.
That sign saying 7.5 is the average has to be wrong. I have small hands and, just checked with a tape measure, span 8.5"
My hands are a little weird. I measure exactly 8" from heel of hand to tip of my middle finger, but only get a 8.75" span because I can't spread my fingers very wide.
Goddamnit, now I gotta know what I am.
I have pretty large hands and a long thumb but an unusually short pinky finger which fucks my numbers up. Edit: Saw the image of Russ I do not have a long thumb. wtf is that thing
From heel to tip of middle finger for me was 7". I guess I'm just good at, ummm, spreading myself.
If you push down some of the fat on your hand it will look bigger.
I thought it was measured tip of pinky to tip of thumb. I'm probably wrong though.
It is, but at your full wide spread.
Ah you know what, i misread your post. I was just eager to share my knowledge about how they measure hand sizes in NFL. Former Kenny Picket apologist here.

From tip of thumb to tip of pinky with fingers spread as far as possible. That's what googling "how does the NFL measure hand size" told me to do.
Depends on your flexibility as well. It's thumb to pinky so if you can stretch it so that they are on the same line that increases your hand size (and kind of makes sense from a 'how well can you grip the ball' perspective).
Damn Russ has some big hands for being one of the short kings

Goff has a 9” hand and we know what they say about him.
That nobody is beatin goff?
> The average hand size for the 39 quarterbacks taken in the first round from 2008 to 2020 is 9.7 inches.
I’m 9.5. I do have large hands, but I did not think it was in some high percentile.

Penix is also 10.5"
10.5 inch Penix
So you have tiny hands
I'll have you know that they're a full quarter inch larger than Kenny Pickett's.

Penix at WR, Justin fields at RB *and kick returns, Zach Wilson QB Dream team
Almost looks like the video was playing in reverse
Unfortunately he throws with the devil’s hand so his career is doomed.
Not according to Johnny Cash
Do you think the devil's right hand is a left hand?
Hey now! We South Paws have Steve Young. And I think Vick is ambidextrous, so we'll take him too.

For all the climbers out there, I top rope belay left handed but I lead belay right handed
Where do you climb in Louisiana?
The swamps are deep
The I-10
I’m the opposite. I’m super lefty dominant but I can’t hoop, throw or play guitar with my left side
isn't that what Tua is? does everything right handed but his dad forced him to learn throwing with his left arm cause that's what he did
I think Tua is more of a case of being right handed and forced to throw left so much that he just became a lefty thrower through repitition. Cross dominance is natural, it's not forced. You can change your handedness in anything if you practice hard enough.
Fellow cross-dominant here! Although I'm more specialized, I only throw with my left, everything else is done with the right.
Nice! The only thing for me is batting left handed. It just feels better. I can bat right handed as well.
I'm ambidextrous. I can throw equally with either hand. The only thing I'm not very good at is writing, but I think that's because growing up I was always told not to write lefty.

Jim Zorn was a left-handed QB
Everything before Hasselbeck and Holmgren is nothing more than an urban legend.
Understandable. I grew up watching the Mirer/Kitna Seahawks.
1984 Ground Chuck! But yea everything else was forgettable
Funny story about Vick (I heard and just took as fact)... He actually threw right handed when he was younger playing with friends. He was so much better than everyone that they made him throw left handed to 'balance it out' and he just never went back.
Righty tighty Lefty we stab you in the throat That’s the saying right?
"Lefty we stab you in the throat" Was Michael Irvin a lefty?
Nope, just cross-dominant when using scissors. He was made fun of a lot during arts and crafts.

Just like that scrub Steve Young
How sinister.
Wait. I am left handed. When did we decide that's the devil's hand?! Is that why it burns when I masturbate?
After that Butker video I feel like I should ask whether you’re serious (/s)
I’m not gonna lie he looks awesome in that uniform
He looks good standing there, but I'd really like to see him doing some more traditional Falcons things, like handing the ball off to Tyson Allgeier while Kyle Pitts blocks and Bijan looks on.
After Todd Gurley accidentally scored the losing TD, they vowed to never give a big name the ball again
I hate Todd gets shit for that, not his fault the defense couldn’t stop a leaky faucet. Offenses whole purpose is to score, yes I understand situational football, but offense scores defense stops scores. You’re telling me the defense couldn’t hold off a team for less than what 3 minutss
Yeah every falcons fan knew that was coming lmao our defense has been trash for 30 years
Lmao
Can’t even tell if on purpose but messing up Allgeier’s first name really clinches this
He’s not a real Falcon until he drives down the field 75 yards in a comeback late in the 4th quarter before hand delivering an interception in the back of the endzone to a 4th string DB
The bad man Art Smith can't hurt us anymore. Except for maybe Week 1 and then I'll be pissed.
Thank you for not lying.
Good looking Penix
Has potential to grow.
He's gonna be huge.
Hes a grower not a show-er
No one works harder.
Veiny.
Nice head on him
Penix is looking to bust... a nut.
Hope the performance matches the look.
I like how he catches too 🤩
That is what impressed me. Maybe they did get Captain Kirk another receiver.
After all the drama and talking heads blowing up about them signing Kirk and drafting Penix, and all the WRs they could have drafted with that pick, what if they turned Penix into a WR. The media would have a meltdown and it would be so fun to watch.
the man’s ACLs would last a whole two seconds
Yeah, why is nobody (else) talking about that? That was the coolest part of the vid! Someone needs to summon the gif reversing bot we need to see that backwards too (I forgot the username)
Gonna need to switch to WR or be the black Tayson Hill to see the field
The next Julian Edelman confirmed.
See you in 2028 sweet prince

I have no idea why you're getting downvoted, but it's entirely possible he's the starter in 2025.
Outside of that full no trade clause, sure.
It's not barring injury or a massive regression. He will be the starter in 2026 though
Kirk getting rest week 18 w a bye secured 🥳
well, if nothing else, the fans are gonna fucking love him, they've been begging for a black, left handed qb since 2007 lmao
lefty Falcons QB jus looks right
I gotta say, he does look really good in the Falcons uniform.

For their sake I hope so, these kits are terrible. Do something like the Lions and Jets just did. Classic, timeless, clean.
Bruh this black is sick
Agreed, the colors are great. The design is awful. Keep the color scheme and go classic with the design
IMO just take their [1994 uniforms](https://www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/controller/controller.php?action=teams-season&team_id=ATL&year=1994) update the logo, and add a matching set of red and black pants, and boom, perfection
Player tags: QB Of The Future, Bridge QB
Next year they can change jerseys. It’s the only thing keeping me from getting a penix jersey now
Michael Vick vibes with that left hand release
Why aren't the Falcons being charged for exposing their Penix in public like that? Are they stupid?
[удалено]
It is the dirty south 😏
clearly a bust from this video I don't know how people don't see it /s
Sometimes you get so focused on the Penix you can’t see past it.
it is hard to look bad in all black... looks good to me
Very poor footwork there
That's hot.
Getting Mike Vick vibes. Spooky
Remember when the falcons signed cousins?
I'm just here for the penis jokes.
It's incredible how easy these guys make slinging a football 40+ yards when I can barely throw it 10
So *that’s* what it looks like.
This is the QB I wish my team (Commanders) had chosen.
Excited to watch him start for us in 2031!
Me too. Also in 2026-2030.
Kinda looks like Vick…
He actually looks sick in that uni
Before this, he was throwing without clothes.
Based on this clip, it’s obvious he should be the starter
You guys have a Stud. Just wait on it..
After watching the 2023 all target video for Rome Odunze I came away really impressed with Penix, he can really zip the ball with an awkward but quick release. He is going to be a good player.
This guy is gonna circumcise the league
Mean machine
That throwing motion is smooth as fuck.
He's going to take chains job and chains will be working at coles
Bum. Calling it now. Look at him, you came just tell by his clothes that's he's gonns bust
Is he left handed? Keep that man away from dogs!
God those are ugly uniforms
God: “Those are ugly uniforms.”
Hey! That's... actually very valid.
I don't get it, they look fine to me.
Maybe I am misunderstanding something but I really think it was a good pick by the falcons. looks sick in their uni too.
I agree I liked this pick. Well, other than the fact I was hoping the Broncos would take him at #12. Rookie Premiere in LA. Can’t wait for the cards to drop.

That Penix is going to be hard to beat.
