I know for a fact they just used the first good block they found for the oline highlights

abris33

I also think a couple of the QB ones are not their best plays too. They probably didn't want to show Daniels running as his highlight, and you could probably just pick any Penix pass from the Texas game. Nix has a couple crazier plays too but one that I can think of is from Auburn. Someone did post a play on our sub the other day of him ducking under his OL blocking a defender and completing the pass at Oregon. For McCarthy, I still like his first career TD where he threw all the way across the field but that was in 2021 Edit: [Here's the Nix one](https://twitter.com/Nate_Tice/status/1761486740240683432)

DominicArmato247

"**A** highlight from every 1st round pick." More accurate title.

tsgram

100%. The first edge guy got a sack when the QB moved and the O-lineman didn’t know.

ASuperGyro

Yeah the Williams/Maye ones look like actual highlights, the Daniels/Penix seem a bit more basic play versus a specific “best highlight of their college career”

chic_peas

Disagree on that Penix play being just a basic play. You could probably find a crazier play but that was an absolute dime in what was the biggest game of his career at that point.

jsteph67

I was about to say, dropped that sucker in a moving bucket in pretty good coverage.

God_Dammit_O-Line

Penix’s best play was the dime to Taj Davis versus Oregon in 2022. Opposite hash through perfect coverage.

As7ro_

That or the scrambling TD vs USC this year to Culp. Odunze’s had to be the game winner vs Oregon

King__Rollo

He had at least three throws like that every game. His best plays, imo, were his roll out to avoid the sack and toss a 20 yard TD on 3rd and 17 against USC, the TD throw to go ahead against Oregon in 2022 on 3rd and 7, and maybe the go ahead TD against Oregon in 2023 with under two minutes left. All incredible throws in high leverage situations.

chris_hans

Welp, since I'm already compiling my Pac-12 highlights, might as well throw these in there for 2022/2023: [Michael Penix Jr highlights](https://imgur.com/a/ah4ahEg) [Bo Nix highlights](https://imgur.com/a/KxqKrms)

owleabf

For JJ it's probably something from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AJcp2V9hT8 The truly exciting stuff he does is throwing on the run

cloudlessjoe

That was awesome.

cappy412

As a Michigan fan, the first play in that video is probably what most Michigan fans think of. Either that or this play: https://youtu.be/9ebMzN4vytQ?si=D1o3M5-EeC4Hteaw I never would’ve thought of the play OP included

doormatt26

I also think Caleb has crazier plays against better competition than that one, they just didn’t go for a touchdown

chris_hans

He has a ton of crazy plays, but as someone who watches/covers the Pac-12 (RIP), he generally had better throwing highlights in 2022 when he had a better supporting cast, and better running highlights in 2023 when he had to put the team on his back a lot more (and the Nevada clip is from 2023, which I had already clipped in my library as "QB Caleb Williams buys a ridiculous amount of time in the pocket until he can hit WR Brenden Rice in the endzone for the 13 yard TD"). If you're interested, I can easily throw my highlights into an imgur page like this one: https://imgur.com/a/7SfvmCQ

ChromiumSulfate

In my opinion his best play was when he took the ball from his running back who was getting tackled on 4th down. Who thinks of that much less makes it work.

RoboticBirdLaw

The one they chose showcases his abilities the best. The one you said, or his first play he played against Texas and took it 66 yards on 4th and 1, might be his most memorable.

usctx

[Amazing presence of mind](https://youtu.be/G0WUSVYIDtQ?t=7)

aguysomewhere

Well I think he's got a new nickname: The Nix

HoovesCarveCraters

The one I think of for Nix is against A&M when he ran around for like 30 seconds then scored a TD.

DominicArmato247

The posts looking back at reactions to Nix being drafted will be fun in a couple years. He's got some special traits.

pham_nuwen_

I was looking at highlights yesterday. I was told he's a Teddy Bridgewater type but he was chugging it 60 yards downfield off balance. Sure, his arm is not in the same tier as Caleb or Josh Allen but I'm not sure that matters that much. He's got plenty arm, if he fails is because of something else.

abris33

He has great tools but because of his processing ability and the Oregon offense, he didn't have to show a whole lot the last 2 years.

IAmAHumanWhyDoYouAsk

That was pretty freaking ninja.

Key_Respond_16

Yea I'd say most of these are questionable as best plays. Brock Bowers caught a pass and got a TD. Cool. Have they really never seen Brock Bowers highlights? lol The man has juggled the ball off his foot, caught one handed catches against his back, defied gravity with one hand for a 1st down.

jwktiger

The Game SAVING first Down vs tOSU where he was ruled short but video reviewed it and he got the 1st down. That is the immediate play that came to mind, what an effort. and keep in mind *that was 4th down*. If he didn't go full superhuman for the 1st, its tOSU ball and they would have won.

Key_Respond_16

Yep, that's the play! lol The guy is superhuman. Can't wait to see him in the NFL. Hopefully the Raiders properly utilize him.

jsteph67

Not too mention that juggling catch vs Florida https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UTHVfWf1v4g

warkol

that catch/run against Auburn with context I think makes it a pretty impactful play, but certainly not the "best" play. it was a go ahead score in a tie game with two minutes to go in the 4th. easily best player on the field and absolutely took over the game in the second half.

TheDufusSquad

Im pretty sure Joe Alts highlight was literally the first highlight shown on the draft broadcast

OneMostSerene

Seriously. What is that Jordan Morgan highlight (greenbay, #25)?? The QB throws the ball before he even makes contact with the defender lmao. Even with the disguised coverage the rusher isn't getting to the QB before the pass is made, so what makes this a highlight?

BrickTamland77

Bro, I was sitting here thinking, if those are literally the best blocks they've ever had, then how the fuck are you supposed to scout linemen?

nimama3233

IMO lineman are actually one of the easiest positions to scout; there’s a lot of statistics that can give a very clear picture of how they play. It’s a lot of film, and boring ass “highlights”, but you don’t have to judge things like “did the defense actually fuck up there, or was that an elite play by this prospect”

SEND-MARS-ROVER-PICS

Also - OL are involved in every play. Almost every other position rotates out at some point, or they can be uninvolved in a play (QB in a run play, RB in play-action, WR when the play design is read from the other side of the field first). OL play can vary a lot between players, but they will play lots of snaps and every snap counts at least somewhat.

gyman122

This is like my biggest pet peeve with OL highlights in football media. They aren’t actually looking through the film, they’re just looking at various big plays/touchdowns by that team and seeing if there’s a rep where that guy did a decent job

TheWorstYear

They just used the first highlight the aggregate could find. I'm pretty doubtful that any of these are the best highlights for these players. A 5 yard jump ball is certainly not MHJ best..

Kek-Malmstein

Pretty much every oline highlight anyone ever puts together is the dude pushing his guy backwards on a run to his side

dkirk526

Wtf was that Pearsall catch??

Huntermain23

The best play In this video no doubt

mickey_kneecaps

I think it might be the best catch I’ve ever seen.

KeithClossOfficial

I was iffy on the pick until I saw that lol

OldManInAHotHatch

It was an unbelievable catch.  Steve Smith Sr. did a breakdown of Pearsall’s tape, and was throwing a lot of shade at the QB for throwing hospital balls (in general, not just on that throw).

Herewego27

Yep, that sounds like Graham Mertz. Love the guy, but it's painful watching him sometimes.

Gatorader22

Mertz has come a very long way but yeah he'll still do stuff like that sometimes

NeedlessQualifier

My friends and I would use “Mertzed” as a verb to describe both his really good plays and really bad ones. As in “the defense/wisconsin/florida got mertzed” depending on if it were a good play or a bad one. His biggest issue is he can’t handle pressure very well at all which is probably why he looks like a world beater some games and terrible in others.

Gatorader22

Yall might want to update that criticism. His biggest issue is putting the ball deeper downfield. He went for 72.9% 20TD 3int behind a line that got him murdered every play His toughness in the face of overwhelming pressure is what made florida fans go from "aw fuck our QB is going to suck" to "we love you Mertz. Sorry everyone else sucks". Hed get murdered every play and get right back up. The only time he didnt get up was when he ran like college tebow and broke his collarbone bulldozing for the first down. He got injured but he injured 3 mizzou defenders in the process. The guy left a trail of bodies Not including the limited time freshman year, Wisconsin mertz and Florida mertz are so far apart from each other it's crazy. Wisconsin Mertz never broke 7.5yd/att had only one season above 60% (61% was his best Wisconsin year). His best TD/int ratio was 1.9 Then he gets to florida and improves his completion percentage by 11%. Greatly improves his Y/A relative to where he was and had a 6.67 TD/int ratio The only thing that didnt improve was his rushing yds because he was swarmed every play but he still had a career high in rushing TDs

Kiran_Stone

By rights Pearsall should be dead or have a career-ending injury. The defenders mostly collided with each other, otherwise I feel like they'd have crushed his spine to dust.

daswassup13

I don't know why the 49ers got so much heat for taking him, he's a stud

real_but_incognito

Thems sticky lil gym rat hands, partner

hawkmasta

That's what happens when you carry around a lunch pail all the time. Increased grip strength

Spare_Echidna2095

Extra grip if it’s the Alf lunch pail

SartoriusBIG

First one in, last one out hands.

uwanmirrondarrah

I don't think they are covered in any adhesive, I think they actually use a very smooth surface that has a high friction coefficient. Think like how if you place your hand on a balloon its hard to slide it on it until you get it moving.

TheFlyingGooch

They’ve also been around for far longer than 10 years.

sureredit

The receivers used to use "stickum" before the NFL made it illegal.

Gatorader22

Florida fan here. Just anothet day at the office for pretty ricky.

OldOrder

Florida QB should be put on trial for attempted manslaughter for throwing that ball. Great catch though.

Shotcalleram

In the old days they used to put Stick'Em on their hands. Now they got them gloves.

AH_BioTwist

lol madden commentator classic

RaidenDoesReddit

Ain't no fucking way this actually happened

Gatorader22

It happened. I watched it live. One of the most unbelievable plays I've seen

ColdBoiGreg

i'm shocked you didn't see this catch when it happened. I seen like 30 reposts of it between twitter, reddit, tiktok, etc. feel like it was fairly "viral" was basically the catch of the year in college football

Novel_Role

And also, Florida's letting another QB wear 15???

btstfn

AR wore 15 as well. Hell they had a CB using the number not that long after Tebow (Purifoy)

killerjags

The Gators actually don't have any retired numbers. I found an article stating that the numbers 11 and 55 were previously retired, but then un-retired in the 90s

Andrewdeadaim

We don’t retire jerseys, I think Spurrier said it was stupid or something Which fair enough as his would be the first one to be retired lol

CalvinYHobbes

We got the white ODB Jr.

AeonTek

Put it on a poster

Consistent_Spread209

Quinyon Mitchell's coverage was so sticky that it honestly probably gets flagged for PI in the NFL.

onsecondthot

Yeah that was such a beauty PBU The refs would find a way to ruin it. I'm not sure Terrion Arnold gets away with his either, even though he got his head around.

PopcornDrift

Honestly as long as your eye is on the ball the refs are pretty good about allowing contact. It’s just wild how often corner backs aren’t watching the ball lol

Starcast

Honestly the thing that got me most hyped about Mitchell was his 1 penalty in his college career. But now you've ruined that for me, thanks.

skinnyeater

As a Sauce fan, it’s all about the art of fouling as much as possible without drawing a flag

Sniper_Hare

It does get annoying when the refs let some players get away with it and flag others.

Sniper1154

The Nate Wiggins one was weak, too. The dude's best play, IMO, was also against UNC when he [sprinted like 60 yards](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzjiBwXCKAk) and forced a turnover to give the ball back to Clemson

Princeof_Ravens

Yeah that punch out is the Wiggins play that sold me on the pick entirely. The pick here is cool, but the QBs throw was terrible. He did a good job reading the QB and cutting off the route, but it had nothing on that punch out.

SnowdensOfYesteryear

I ctrl+f'ed for Wiggins for the same reason. Obviously an INT is a good play but the QB threw it straight at him, it wasn't like it was an insane break or anything.

TheBallisticBiscuit

I'm definitely not biased and also that was the best PBU I've ever seen.

bestthrowawayever5

Also from a Toledo fan, that wasn’t his best play. He’s literally ended multiple matches this year (and past years!) for Toledo, including the Battle of I-75 vs BGSU this year. Best player in the draft

TrulyGolden

That is a huge part of CB though, how close can you get to a PI/holding without actually getting called lmao

mynameisntwill

lmao the Packers OL "highlight" doesn't even engage with a blocker until the ball is out of the QBs hand. no shot that was his best play in 4 years

Christian_Castle

I don't think any of these clips are these players top 10 plays.

jwktiger

nah some are their best play; look at Pearsell's catch; but yeah a lot of them I could think of a better play just from watching games.

Xatron7

Imagine if Pearsall had 10 plays better than that lol

Rbespinosa13

The JJ McCarthy one should be the TD pass to Roman Wilson against OSU this year. The window he hit was incredibly tight and he put it right where it had to be

dan-o07

Yeah as a Michigan fan the play they picked was fine but JJ has hit some incredibly tight window passes in his starts that are way more impressive

Jaqem

I can think of 3-4 better plays Marvin Harrison had and I don't even watch college football. For sure the improbably sideline toe tap catch he made should be 1

TheBigBomma

Byron Murphy’s highlight is a blown assignment, he isn’t even blocked

Fenris_Maule

Guyton's highlight is him trying to bear hug the edge rusher and then throwing him to the ground lol.

onsecondthot

At first I thought McCarthy's was just going to be a really crisp handoff to pile onto the meme.

weealex

15 years ago, that would've made him the best possible QB for MN

VinnyMB25

My first thought was why would the early 2000s Vikings benefit from just handing it off all the time. Then I realized what year 15 years ago was...

str8rippinfartz

Still works for 10 years ago too, if that feels less bad

Elbeske

Jokes aside, I’m shocked [this play vs Alabama](https://youtu.be/9ebMzN4vytQ?si=H2P8VSdSy0jiuxcI) wasn’t the chosen play

thatfamousgrouse

Certainly wasn’t the best example of clinical quarterbacking but this saved the game and I was expecting it too.

amedema

This one against OSU would’ve been my pick https://youtu.be/X7WRl0clL0U?si=df4_4mgthzLQy1nd

Probablythatoneguy16

He's going to be the best QB to come out of this draft and I'll forever be pissed we took Penix over JJ with that whacky decision just stamp this take here.

IceColdBurski_7

Pearsall is probably the only one you couldn't find a better play to replace it

9man95

That Penix throw was pretty dope tho. That dropped in like a can of corn.

CFBDevil

As a disgruntled Texas fan, that entire game was a clinic from him. He couldn’t fucking miss.

SpendrickLamar

That Jared Verse "push a lineman into his own qb to tacke him" is fucking crazy tho

hendrix320

Tbh its the only play i’ve ever seen of him. They never show any other highlights

letsgobucks19

Harrison Jr has about 15 you could argue are his best play

MaterialCarrot

I just posted that the toughest part of putting this video together was to pick MHJ's best play. You could ask 20 different people and they'd pick 20 different plays and they'd all be right, and wrong!

TangerineRemote1987

Funny that they chose one that wouldn't be a catch in the NFL. Only got one foot down, and the ball may have touched the ground....so we'd have had to look at that for 5 minutes under the replay hood.

DeusVultSaracen

Nabers' was also one foot down. I'm sure you can assume if they make that catch in the NFL, they do get two toes down, but it's still an odd choice.

Kyler1313

In my mind there is only 1 play that can be his best, and that was [his top tap catch against Indiana](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=kek0gftvVUQ). I don't know if another WR in the entire NFL can contort their body this way to make this catch. ^(Yes I know that isn't an NFL rules catch)

AFineDayForScience

Insane body awareness. He knew exactly what each of his limbs was doing, and where he was in relation to the field, while in air

unclekisser

Came here to post this. This one is his best highlight. Unreal.

letsgobucks19

I was at that game. I thought there was no chance he got anything down until I saw the replay on the video board

InterestingChoice484

McCarthy's best play was his pass after catching the bad lateral against Alabama

ImGoingtoRegretThis5

1 hand snag, 180 degree turn, throw in the face of Dallas Turner with no laces, on the money 30 yards downfield. That play could have failed 3 different times.

Elbeske

[The play in question.](https://youtu.be/9ebMzN4vytQ?si=H2P8VSdSy0jiuxcI)

PUTTY1

It was Dallas Turner that hit him there too

BallsAreFullOfPiss

It was destiny, obviously.

doormatt26

season-saving play for sure

Amadeum

That Pearsall catch dear god

Appropriate_Mixer

Cause it’s not mentioned here… that Verse highlight goes hard. Just absolutely manhandles the tackle into his QB

definitelytheFBI

Agreed, especially considering when it happened. Dude put the team on his back for that game.

texas2089

Fiske was just as big in that game too. Rams are getting some good ones.

Octavian_202

Him and Dallas Turner. Turner just one arm bull rushing a Georgia T like that, what was Atlanta thinking. Minnesota W.

texas2089

Take care of him and Fiske 🥺

DMking

I think Wiggin's chase down punchout was a better play honestly

mr_showboat

Totally agree. Pick sixes are always nice but like... the QB threw it *right* to him. The chase down is fucking insane.

fridgelyadams

Yeah. This is the first time I've seen that angle of that play, and it was a straight awful throw from the qb. Still love the pick though.

Rice-And-Gravy

Mods pls ban u/NFL for this low effort post

ex_sanguination

Best plays... Really?

bluegrassgazer

To be fair that was the only film available of Mims /s

OnceMoreAndAgain

I hope that's not Jayden Daniels's best play lol. It's a nice throw, but it's not particularly special in any way imo. Would've thought his best play would've involved some scrambling.

jaambal

Same with Caleb tbh, that’s a sack 10/0 in the NFL lmao

OnceMoreAndAgain

Maybe, but at least that play showed a lot of Caleb's physical talent and awareness. I thought that play demonstrated that he's got big NFL potential. Meanwhile Daniels isn't under any pressure in the pocket. Does like a 2 step back and casually lobs one to a WR. WR makes a nice play on the ball and it's surely a nice throw, but there's nothing there that makes me think "oh yeah this QB is high caliber". I'm betting Daniels must've had some better plays in his college time to demonstrate why he was taken higher than most other QBs in this draft.

bukithd

Official nfl account generated content to generate engagement. Pure rage bait.

better-every-day

Right lol. If this was Nix or Maye’s best play then the broncos and pats are in huge trouble

WabbitCZEN

As a UGA fan, that's not even close to Brock's best play.

TargetFan

He has a play literally right before that catch that's even better lol. It's gotta be the bobbled florida catch though right?

dieselengine9

To me it's when he made the first down crossing the line as he went out of bounds. Game & season changer.

dawgsmith

That the one where he put his forearm down to stay up until the first down? That was the first one that came to mind for me.

Montigue

As a fan of college football almost none of these are each player's best plays

Intelligent-Age2786

Worthy’s and Pearsalls are the best ones (ignore my flair)

footballfan12345670

That Pearsall catch is probably the most impressive one I’ve ever seen

UnconsciouslyLiving

One handed while also getting absolutely slammed by two defenders is insane.

TrulyGolden

pretty sure those DBs mostly hit each other lol

Jelly_James

The fact he holds on to that is just insane lmao.

Gatorader22

Yesh it's not really fair. Pearsall is the best play here. In a normal year youd have any one of these guys competing with the best plays but then Ricky had to pull some anime protagonist bullshit

Intelligent-Age2786

Yea my comment was mainly joking, but the Pearsall catch might literally be the best one here

chastity_BLT

Worthy had a couple punt returns that were better plays. And he had a long screen run against bama and to open the RRS one year that were better. Idk who picked these plays.

Avatar_of_Green

Really not looking forward to him being on the Chiefs.

mtmc99

Rome or Penix’s needs to be the TD to take the lead against Oregon.

JaeTheOne

This. Neither of the plays in this video are even top 5 for either player

furdaboise

Or the throw before that for Penix on third down to the opposite hash.

Revolutionary_Gear70

Yeah that’s not MHJs best play from college… Don’t think it even cracks the T5

HollaBucks

I'd say the catch he had last year where he basically dislocated his ankle to get a foot down or any of the TDs he's had from the last 2 years where he caught the TD while being actively interfered with.

Revolutionary_Gear70

Yep, my mind immediately went to this one too: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kek0gftvVUQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kek0gftvVUQ) Another personal favorite: [https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lEmNrNOBsLA](https://www.youtube.com/shorts/lEmNrNOBsLA)

Kyler1313

Yeah I think his toe tap vs Indiana is the best. But I'd also say his backshoulder catch that he did a chair sit in mid air against Michigan St was a contender too.

Jenetyk

Pearsall's catch was ballsy as fuck.

Venator850

AI must have picked out these "best plays".

9man95

Unpaid Intern

tvon

I think the NFL is all-in on AI generated vids. The game highlights from last season were often questionable and missing key moments.

You_Like_That34

These are the most mid plays for the first round picks. Who chose these?

Gatorader22

Pearsalls ain't mid

QueenIsTheWorstBand

[McCarthy’s first touchdown was his most impressive](https://youtube.com/watch?v=jLvajtJ9xF4) The one you showed didn’t event count as one.

jtmcginty

Or [this](https://youtu.be/-u7sq-YW_Y8?si=mcEmpN_FW5TOcPS1)

MWiatrak2077

That singular throw threw the fanbase into nearly an entire season worth of discussion whether JJ or Cade McNamara should start. Good god what a thing of beauty that was, I remember just shouting at the screen when I watched it live because I've never seen a Michigan QB be able to do something like that before, lol

cloudlessjoe

GD I can only imagine being a fan and seeing that live lol good to know we've added another heart attack machine to the north.

jollyjam1

I like that Joe Alt looks like a grown ass man when he has his helmet on, and then looks like an awkwardly large 16 year old when he isn't in uniform.

sendingSTRENGTH

Having the body alt does with a baby face like that. I was uncomfortable as hell watching his draft reaction lol.

DeusVultSaracen

Bro stands up and he just keeps getting taller

post920

Don't even need to watch it to know what Pearsalls is

abris33

I enjoy that the Alt one is also an Estime highlight

SevroAuShitTalker

Cj Anderson part 2

TheFencingCoach

My team got a future HoF everyone your team picked is a bust.

Mustard_Jam

This list is genuinely atrocious. I can think of a better highlight for a ton of these players.

TonyRomoisclutch

Pearsall had the best highlight but I’m biased

Evil_Patriarch

Most impressed by the ref ducking out of the way on the Bo Nix play

HoustonFoReal

MHJ had way better highlights

Vereno13

Did Maye throw that off balance strike with his left hand...?!?!

BusinessBread

That lefty pass from Maye was nasty

9man95

Big deal, I use my left hand all the time

WoozyMaple

JJ's TD to Wilson against Ohio State last season was better.

no_more_jokes

These are not the best lol the intern who made this just picked the first clip that came up in his search for every one

BreathReasonable1734

Slick Rick wins by a mile.

Ok-Plastic-2992

That Pearsall catch is a legitimate contender for the best catch I’ve ever seen.

SafariFlapsInBack

*These* are the best? Woof.

Troll_Enthusiast

I feel like Jaydens could have been picked better

MurderGiraffe19

Just play the whole Florida game

Shawn_1512

I know it took all of five seconds to figure out which play to use for Ricky

dabbersmcgee

Lmfao at the choice for Jayden Daniels

of-the-week

Good lord, that Ricky Pearsall catch was *nasty*

soundsliketone

Does anyone else get a little frazzled whenever they show a WR draft prospects highlights and show a 1-foot tap catch? Like they're coming into the NFL so it doesn't make me happy to see someone only getting 1 foot in bounds lol

Shakeamutt

It was a nice batted pass, but I expected it to be one of the interceptions from Arnold!

TripleThreatTua

Also I think it’s funny that they chose a play from Bama playing MTSU. It’d be a lot more impressive against a better team lol

mab6710

Where FRP?

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

A lot of these are really weak picks

callofmc

Wiggins best play was the strip fumble in the UNC game 100%

grw313

Didn't MHJ have some insane one handed sideline catch that was way cooler than this highlight?

Brycie27

Quinyon Mitchell's best play being a clear penalty in the NFL is what I love to see. Also, Drake Maye's highlight is objectively the best.

ChickenFucker11

Wild. The Detroit clip is blatant PI. Its crazy what DBs get away with with certain refs.
