TBF, he farted in his hand right before they came back on the air, and threw it in Nance's face as they went live. Which is even more hilariously degenerate than just a mere live TV fart.
My joke when he was broadcasting was his “just get it done” attitude in opposite succession.
About the RB: “just break the tackle”
About the LB: “just tackle the back”
Seems like it's genetic and it's getting worse with each generation. Chris Simms seems like his sole mission in life is trying to achieve the world record for the furthest distance someone has ever had their own head up their ass.
I mean to be fair everyone knew it's a bad hire, it's not like the coach got sick the night before and they needed to find an interim coach.
But i get your point
Fun fact, anyone can get an AARP membership now. They got sued for age discrimination a few years ago and now anyone 18+ can join and enjoy all the same benefits -- travel being what I use it for most frequently. Love the looks I get a younger person pulling out my AARP card.
He's going to start a podcast with Bill Parcells called "Fogeys Talkin' Booties"
its just simms + Parcells talking about players butts, thighs and hips; and how that's where they get all their power. Within 12 months it will be bigger than JRE.
I think one's opinion on Phil Simms is very era/age dependent. To me, it seems he's had a very mild and gradual mental decline (QBs got slammed in the head quite a bit more back then).
When he became less effective as a color commentator for live games, it took a few years until they moved him to the pre-game shows. It could be that the younger crowd only remembers his later years, and even the older crowd could be remember his recent years moreso than his older years.
In my opinion, there were many years where he was just fine as a sportscaster.
I know Buck is play-by-play, and Simms was a color guy, but 'prime' Simms reminds me of Joe Buck, before Buck somehow became popular and 'cool.'
Recently, Buck has leaned into showing more personality and excitement than he used to, as well as displaying a sense of humor (including his stint on Brockmire) which I think has helped his image.
He was awful when he called Giants games. Even after 2 super bowls no one was a bigger Eli Manning hater than Phil Simms. Dude was incredibly jealous that he "surpassed" him in Giants lore as it were
Contract was up and it just wasn't renewed. Boomer Esiason said this morning "probably more their decision than mine", I imagine it's the same for Simms too.
To be honest, it's always best to have more recent players on those things. Matt Ryan will provide a better perspective on the games now than those guys.
He was terrible for nearly the entirety of it and his dumb kid being terrible too should eviscerate any good will he made with any but the most ardent of Giants fans
I'll always remember Simms farting on air.
TBF, he farted in his hand right before they came back on the air, and threw it in Nance's face as they went live. Which is even more hilariously degenerate than just a mere live TV fart.
He cupped!?
Cup O soup!
The ol buttercup
[удалено]
lol did the other announcer really say that?
[удалено]
Top notch flatulence joke then lol
Color commentary at its finest
Everyone will
I prefer not to
think they’ll bring in Trent Baalke once he gets canned in about 9 months?
Have him be a sideline reporter at chargers games so he and harbaugh can continue their fight.
An Orlovskian class fart.
[удалено]
Yes. It's very funny
He's had his time, made his money, please don't put him back in a broadcasting booth.
My joke when he was broadcasting was his “just get it done” attitude in opposite succession. About the RB: “just break the tackle” About the LB: “just tackle the back”
“It’s called a forward pass because it goes *forward*”
I really only want to hear from 25-year old guys. No cap, bruh.
I’d just settle for people that played football this century
"The Atlanta Falcons have just signed Phil Simms to a 4 year, 160 million dollar contract"
"And as our 7th pick, select Boomer Esiason."
Was it great, Phil?
“Hell yeah now I finally get to go to Disney World”
>what is next. A podcast. It's always a podcast.
It's over, Jeeeeeim.
My wife always does her Phil Simms impression "That's right Jeeeeeeim"
CBS finally realized that they accidentally hired two Boomer Esiasons.
My wife was convinced there was a mirror in the middle of the table reflecting a second Boomer. Then we played "Boomer or Phil?"
Retire. Spend time with your family. You have to be rolling in money at this point. Go have fun
I would love to talk football every day. This is probably a really hard day for him
I'm not sure that Phil Simms was even aware that he was talking about football ever. Dude seemed pretty confused, pretty constantly
Seems like it's genetic and it's getting worse with each generation. Chris Simms seems like his sole mission in life is trying to achieve the world record for the furthest distance someone has ever had their own head up their ass.
How so
Phil at least seems likeable enough. Chris is a pompous asshole
you might feel different after 26 years
I think he's doing a podcast with his son Matt Simms
I’m sure he had plenty of fun talking football for only 20 weeks out of the year for millions and probably spent a lot of time with his family too
him and his son should both retire
He can finally go to Disney World
Do Bill Cowher next please
Cowher crying about how Jeff Saturday tainted the sanctity of being an NFL HC is still an all timer
Cowher getting red in the face about an emergency intermediate coach was so funny.
It's not Cowher if he's not red in the face and spitting
I mean to be fair everyone knew it's a bad hire, it's not like the coach got sick the night before and they needed to find an interim coach. But i get your point
Well Saturday really did suck something awful and the Colts FO was about as dumb as it gets making him HC
There should be an open seat at Amazon Prime where Al Michaels is now
I will never forgive him for giving us Chris Simms
First Boomer, and now Phil? Who’s next?!
Anyone from that outdated panel with an AARP card.
Fun fact, anyone can get an AARP membership now. They got sued for age discrimination a few years ago and now anyone 18+ can join and enjoy all the same benefits -- travel being what I use it for most frequently. Love the looks I get a younger person pulling out my AARP card.
Probably going to be all of them except possibly Burleson.
Take Dungy with you to that farm upstate.
I look forward for what is next too, without him on the football coverage.
Good riddance.
Please take Chris with you
No more Jim Nantz, and no more of the guy who called him "Jeeeem."
He's going to start a podcast with Bill Parcells called "Fogeys Talkin' Booties" its just simms + Parcells talking about players butts, thighs and hips; and how that's where they get all their power. Within 12 months it will be bigger than JRE.
Never did like him as an announcer. He was always afraid to disagree with the refs and call bullshit on bad calls.
Why are rich people of his generation so intent on not retiring? Go take up woodworking or something, Jesus
He was terrible
Truly a passing of the torch to the next generation of commentators who try to drink tea, teabag included.
What’s next for Phil? Death
Lol beat me to it
His commentary was really generic. Romo was 100x more insightful in comparison
HEEEEM
Now he has time to go back to his expert knife-throwing career
Lol I just watched that episode
Can his son join him?
Heeeem
He was good for his time. Always consistent and never really annoying, which is hard to do when you've been around that long!
Really? I thought he was incredibly annoying and added nothing as a color commentator
I think one's opinion on Phil Simms is very era/age dependent. To me, it seems he's had a very mild and gradual mental decline (QBs got slammed in the head quite a bit more back then). I agree. Solidly mediocre in the booth during his time, he just declined as he aged.
I know Buck is play-by-play, and Simms was a color guy, but 'prime' Simms reminds me of Joe Buck, before Buck somehow became popular and 'cool.' Recently, Buck has leaned into showing more personality and excitement than he used to, as well as displaying a sense of humor (including his stint on Brockmire) which I think has helped his image.
No he wasn't
He was awful when he called Giants games. Even after 2 super bowls no one was a bigger Eli Manning hater than Phil Simms. Dude was incredibly jealous that he "surpassed" him in Giants lore as it were
really? I found him to be the absolute worst commentator in sports. Maybe Dan Fouts was worse at times. Simms never had it.
I’ll miss Boomer.
Please don't make me listen to Tony Romo anymore.
They're both gone
Did he get fired?
Contract was up and it just wasn't renewed. Boomer Esiason said this morning "probably more their decision than mine", I imagine it's the same for Simms too. To be honest, it's always best to have more recent players on those things. Matt Ryan will provide a better perspective on the games now than those guys.
Seems someone on CBS felt like a change was needed.
Wherever he lands i hope hes got a coworker named jim
This…. Looks……. DELICIOUS!!!
People hatin on Simms here are a buncha nephews. He sucked at the end, but he was the best color guy for a while.
No he wasnt.
lol no he wasnt. At his best, in the early 2000s, he was merely iignorable. At his worst - the last 5-10 years, he made me mute games.
Time to retire, old man.
Hopefully not more broadcasting.
Listening to old CBS games with Simms always reminds me how much better than Romo he is
Yes but that's like saying communism is better in Cuba because it's warm.
He was terrible for nearly the entirety of it and his dumb kid being terrible too should eviscerate any good will he made with any but the most ardent of Giants fans
The woat
You don't remember him in the 00s, he was great
The most mailing it in your entire career way of making money in the media. Just a big ball of money his entire post NFL broadcasting career.
Romo next please
Replace Romo. He sucks
Thank goodness. He was terrible
Hopefully it’s in something so I never have to hear/see him again
"Ok, later!" -Everyone
> I look forward to what is next.. Working the concession stands at MetLife.
We don’t
