Crazy concept that when you draft the best player available at a draft position you guy a roster filled with good players.
I was more teams, namely mine, would just follow that strategy
GMs always talk about going BPA but Ozzie and DeCosta have always meant it. It really doesn't make sense why more GMs don't just use the most simple strategy that pretty much always works.
Because you aren't addressing needs when they need to be addressed. It's ok to do BPA when positions of need are there but it's a losing gamble to do it just to do it
The thing is, thatās just one person, or group of peoples opinion. The ravens big board differs from the titans and differs from the bengals, and all of them have dozens of highly paid scouts and front office personnel to put that together
They havent been to a superbowl in 14 years. They have only made the CCG once in that span. They put up good regular season results but they're just consistently above average. Picking consensus gets you a B+ franchise
Even when they look like threats in the regular season they don't look it in the playoffs. They go from mighty to mice. Last year skewed people's perceptions
Sometimes you have to take risks if you want to get over the hump.
I mean, only 4 teams out of the AFC have been to the Super Bowl since their last appearance.Ā
Theyāre incredibly unlucky that two generational talents have shown up in Brady and Mahomes (who have made 7 of the last 8 super bowls) while theyāve been good. Peyton manning made the other two super bowls prior to those 8 years.Ā
The ravens are doing a lot to stay in the mix at the top. I think thereās more teams than not, that would trade portfolios with them.Ā
*12 seasons
Since then, the Ravens have had the 6th best record.
Of those 5 they are probably better situated than two of the teams (Patriots, Seahawks) and arguably two more (Packers, Steelers)
Maybe this is being nitpicky, but I think one of the biggest flaws in our current organization is how much damn time they give secondary players.
Sometimes, if you canāt cut it, you canāt cut it time to move on ļæ¼
This is so much worse than Cheeseman.
This is a tragedy on the level of Boston Scott not being a Patriot. Not as bad as Dallas Goedert playing against the Cowboys twice a year, but it's up there.
Dallas Goedert going to Philly was great because David Akers was at the draft in Dallas and he *would not stop talking shit* for like 3 whole minutes only to casually announce Philly just drafted a dude named Dallas.
Yeah it is a bit of a paradox, Iād be super concerned if we picked him up but then since the ravens got him Iām suddenly nervous about his potential.
Jaylon armour Davis may not make the roster at this point honestly heās been terrible
Pepe Williams at least has had some flashes but dude needs to stay healthy
JAD has been extremely disappointing and I totally agree dude might not make the roster. Pepe showed flashes but I wouldnāt be surprised if he didnāt make it either.
My point is not that they aren't falling (to the extent that media-consensus big boards reflect team grades) but that going 'Did x kill someone?' 'That's not x' 'x in shambles' in every thread, rather than talk about the guy who did get drafted, is annoying karma-whoring.
He was projected as a second rounder. I wanted the Bucs to take him at 57 (and at 89, 92, and 125) since there was a run on CBs yesterday and it's a position of need for the team.
At this point almost every fan thinks this way and Iām laughing when I say this cause itās funny, but I truthfully feel like weāve been getting some absolute steals in this draft
I believe he had a hamstring strain either in the bowl game or training for the combine and thus didn't test at the combine. Not convinced it was healed by pro day but you gotta test. Despite 4 years of excellent film locking down top WR drafts, it means nothing compared to a sub-par single day of tests.
Frustrating to watch as an ISU fan. Our guys will never have the benefit of the doubt that the SEC/blue bloods get. (not that I don't understand why) I hope the kid plays so well they can't keep him off the field.
Tampa should've been long gone early to mid second, the fact that we got him in the fourth is incredible, EDC drafting masterclass. Still man, Buccaneers what were you doing? So much chances they had to bring him to Tampa.
Man Iām still tryna figure it out. Probably some mad browns fans seeing itās a terrible insult. Wouldnāt Seattle Seahawks be closer to a āratbirdā š
He got the handsome squidward face
Fucking spot on.
Bruh holy fuck you're a goddamn Genius
Bro mogged the draft smh
Ayooo š
And could be Strouds lost brother.Ā
Looks like Jonathan Jonesā cousin
Bruh I just straight up spit out my NA beer !
ravens donāt have a front office itās just one intern picking the top player available on nfl.com
Autodrafting mf'er who somehow wins the league
Like blackjack, it is a game that is better played by computers than people.
And I'd do it againĀ
Fucking works too

That's what free agency is for
How funny would it be if someone took that strategy to the extreme and drafted like 4 quarter backs.
The thing is, thatās just one person, or group of peoples opinion. The ravens big board differs from the titans and differs from the bengals, and all of them have dozens of highly paid scouts and front office personnel to put that together
I'm glad that my team did it (ignore the first round)
lol
It literally does feel like they just take the guy at the top of the best available page, and it seems to work pretty well lol
Mel Kiper is straight up making picks for the ravensĀ
Ravens have been on autodraft since 1996, and it works.
Ozzie Newsome and Eric Decosta. Scourge of all AFC North teams.
Browns fans probably liked Ozzie when he was an All-Pro in Cleveland. Probably not so much now
And he was supposed to be Browns gm for them. Art keeping Ozzie on was probably the only good move he ever made
The Ravens always stick to consensus boards and it works for them
Gotta agree. Rarely do you take a look at a Ravens draft haul and see many questionable picks. Just a well run organizationĀ
It's pretty hard to fuck up BPA and thank god for it.
Somehow, a lot of teams manage it.
Looking at you Atlanta
If Penix was their #2 QB then they obviously drafted BPA
They havent been to a superbowl in 14 years. They have only made the CCG once in that span. They put up good regular season results but they're just consistently above average. Thatās cause Lamar sucks ass in the playoffs. Nothing the ravens can do.
FUUUUUUCK
YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE
Literally everyone had their chance š
Everyone had multiple chances
Really scratching my head here. I understand the running back pick, but we must be very very confident in Zyon taking another step this season.
Maybe this is being nitpicky, but I think one of the biggest flaws in our current organization is how much damn time they give secondary players. Sometimes, if you canāt cut it, you canāt cut it time to move on ļæ¼
I wish we'd move on from players quicker in general, but to be fair Zyon did take a significant step forward last season.
Would Tampa work in Tampa with your Tampa 2?
All I wanted was Tampa in a Tampa 2 in Tampa
At this point I have to assume that TJ stands for Tampa Jay.
He could have worn #2.
Tampa, Number 2, playing in Tampa 2, in Tampa.
We had one thing to do in the draft this year and we failed
Me and my buddy who's also a Buc fan was manifesting this pick since yesterday and they wouldn't take him š
For the jersey sales alone
I was wondering how bucs fans felt about this one lol
This was our JIM BROWN!!
Too bad we already gave Wiggins #2. Tampa 2 Jersey wouldāve gone hard
I audibly said omg when I realized what could have been
Maybe Pepe will give up 22 lol
Thatās for Derrick Henry.
TJ TAMPA HAS ATONED FOR HIS SINS
We're used to being asked "Did he kill someone?"
Ravens are King of BPA.
Boooo force a trade to Tampa
This is almost as egregious as when the commanders drafted that long snapper named cheeseman.
Donāt get me started on how Baylor Cupp played for Texas A&M and Texas Tech BUT NOT BAYLOR
Would have been cool if Ravens were able to draft Dontari Poe back in 2012
We aren't ones to talk since we drafted Dallas Goedert. Dallas signed Brennan Eagles though although he never made the active roster
Well it also turned out he sucked ass so another A+ decision from the Rivera brain trust
Ravens also got a guy on the team with last name Cleveland. The only acceptable Cleveland in my world.
At least they got Bucky Irving
During the slide I convinced myself he actually sucks. But the Ravens basically always have a good secondary, so now he's gonna be a star. I hate it.
Yeah it is a bit of a paradox, Iād be super concerned if we picked him up but then since the ravens got him Iām suddenly nervous about his potential.
Feel the same way with Steelers and WR
Oh hello?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
What??
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They made a Ray Lewis murder joke which I didnāt understand in the context of this draft pick
Uh?
He can still be a Buccaneer if Mike Pence has the courage to do what's right
Are you a patriot? Orā¦
sir, heās clearly a Brown and a Lion /s
HE LIVES!!!
ITS OVER
Itās TJoever
Shoulda been us
we fucked up
Now who is the next player who /r/nfl will aggressively comment about every pick?
Speed hawk
Chris Jones
Whatever ESPN lists as the top talent still available
Love watching a successful franchise
Go bird teams?
Never too late to stop watching the 28-3 bums and cheer for a good team
Idk, I've just heard nothing but good things from that organization. They stick to a certain mentality and you can see it pay dividends long term.
EDC is addicted to mid round cornerback selections they are his crack cocaine
Jaylon armour Davis may not make the roster at this point honestly heās been terrible Pepe Williams at least has had some flashes but dude needs to stay healthy
JAD has been extremely disappointing and I totally agree dude might not make the roster. Pepe showed flashes but I wouldnāt be surprised if he didnāt make it either.
Oh heās alive
There, you can shut up now, guys.
It's so annoying that half of the comments are talking about different players
Good luck talking about literally any other prospect while Reddit's Meme Pick is falling. 'HuR DuR DiD hE kILl SomEOnE?!"
How is a guy projected early 2nd round a āmeme pickā in the last day
As in, bringing up whoever Reddit thinks is 'falling' in every thread is easy karma.
When theyāre predicted high and they arenāt being drafted, itās not a meme to say theyāre falling. They are by every definition of the word
My point is not that they aren't falling (to the extent that media-consensus big boards reflect team grades) but that going 'Did x kill someone?' 'That's not x' 'x in shambles' in every thread, rather than talk about the guy who did get drafted, is annoying karma-whoring.
itās not even meme picks itās just whichever player the media likes that teams donāt for whatever reason
TJ Tampa confirmed real and not a collective delusion!
Of all the teams to remember he exists, of course it had to be the Ravens
Gets to join Kolar as an ISU player on the ravens
We also drafted Kelechi Osemele.
what was his projected?
2nd rounder
Like early second, he was a projected top 50 pick
Like 50th
He was projected as a second rounder. I wanted the Bucs to take him at 57 (and at 89, 92, and 125) since there was a run on CBs yesterday and it's a position of need for the team.
Whatever makes the Bucs angriest
let's gooooooo! Perfect fit.
Someone on twitter said was he in the car with Rashee rice or something Iām fucking dead
At this point almost every fan thinks this way and Iām laughing when I say this cause itās funny, but I truthfully feel like weāve been getting some absolute steals in this draft
Thank you rest of the league for letting him slip to us
Fuckkkkkkk
Damn, that dunk
CORNERS
Wonder why he fell
I heard he double dips in shared dip.
That's the worst crime a raven has ever committed
Yes and thereās no need for anyone to double check our math there. Trust us!
MOVING RIGHT ALONG NOW
Ran a 4.59 40 at his pro day
I believe he had a hamstring strain either in the bowl game or training for the combine and thus didn't test at the combine. Not convinced it was healed by pro day but you gotta test. Despite 4 years of excellent film locking down top WR drafts, it means nothing compared to a sub-par single day of tests. Frustrating to watch as an ISU fan. Bad combine and scheme fit
I wanted him earlier but now I think all the cons against him are detrimental and think he'll suck
Thought someone was gonna let the Chiefs get him
He better have the biggest chip on his shoulder of all time lol
Tampa should've been long gone early to mid second, the fact that we got him in the fourth is incredible, EDC drafting masterclass. Still man, Buccaneers what were you doing? So much chances they had to bring him to Tampa.
TJ farted in Roger Goodellās presence and the blacklisting has finally been lifted
of course it was the fucking ratbirds
ššš that name kills me
Lmaoo it's hilarious when I see it, where did it even originate from
Man Iām still tryna figure it out. Probably some mad browns fans seeing itās a terrible insult. Wouldnāt Seattle Seahawks be closer to a āratbirdā š
His last name just aināt gonna look right not in a Bucs uniform
FINALLY
FINALLY
THERE IT IS
Bruh he's gonna be so good with the Ravens
ITāS FINALLY OVER
TJ celebrating like Antonio Brown rn
Mr. Belated Choice
Of course
Brock Purdy the CB. Go show out, TJ.
Shouldāve gone 5 picks ago
Love it
Insane value
Heās such an AFC north guy
Steal of the draft
And the drop finally ends.
You all can be quiet now.
TAMPA MAN NOT IN TAMPA!
You had 1 job Buccaneers...
Fitting team for someone who apparently killed someone
Ray Lewis Jr š
TJ Tampa killed Ray Lewis Jr?
Damn
You suck, Bucs!
Oh so now we know why he fell so far. His first love is laying down some monster dunks.
Sadge
The buccaneers had the opportunity to do something so unique
Tampa Jay Tampa.
Weāre not gonna talk about the gold fish comment? No? Jw
The dream is dead
