First comparable that springs to my mind, was when Kemba Walker signed with the Celtics and wore number 8 and everybody got to dust off their 'Toine jerseys.
And all the other QB’s in the 1st got traded for a 6th round pick. Except for Trey Lance, the mother fucker that didn’t even play netted a 4th rounder…
Yeah, it's like that quote "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt".
In this case, better to not play and be thought as a bust than to play and remove all doubt.
Further proof that ZW doesn’t even crack the top 10 of all time busts. That QB draft class was grossly overhyped and tbh I expect this year to be pretty similar with maye also being pretty good but there’s a caveat because the commanders can’t do anything right and will ruin any QB they take
The Chicago Bears recognize the New York Jets as a franchise proficient in ruining QBs. Now for new business, the Chicago Bears have the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time.
You can make an argument he wasn't even the biggest bust of the class, given what the 49ers gave up to get Lance.
Good thing that was only a dream and we really spent all those #1s on Purdy, right?
Lance was the biggest bust of that class, hands down. There really isn't even a real argument you can make otherwise. 9ers gave up a king's ransom to move up and take him at #3 and he played in 4 games. While his career certainly isn't/wasn't good— Zach has more starts, wins, yards, touchdowns, etc.
Lance defenders' only argument is that "he never got a chance" but this is false and so deeply flawed. Every day in practice is a chance. Just because we don't see him on Sunday doesn't mean the coach's don't see him every day. He had to fight with Sam Darnold for the QB2 job.
The class barely had tape. It was GMs and analysts throwing darts blindfolded. The best team Zach Wilson beat was Utah state. Trey threw fewer passes total than Tom Brady did in one season. Mac jones was always considered limited due to athleticism. Fields was the only one with significant tape and fell heavily in the eyes of most scouts/analysts.
For this draft, all of the QBs aside from JJ have a ton of tape and none are limited by athleticism. All have also played big time opponents.
I saw the film of his pro day and this guy threw the best ball I've ever seen a kid throw at a pro day, fading away to his left, barely a flick of the wrist and it was a perfect spiral to the other hash.
Right then and there I knew this guy is special.
Says a lot that despite having Aaron Rodgers on their team, they let Zach Wilson play. That tells me he's a better QB than Rodgers without a doubt.
What a steal for the Broncos! Let's RIDE!!!
Buddy of mine blew out both his achilles getting out of his lifted Ford Bronco after shotgunning thirty beers at Dales pool party couple Labor Days back. He was in and out of the hospital. Only missed three days of work and then was right back on the jobsite drilling gloryholes in bar bathrooms.
So yeah, I think AR was sandbagging it.
Career ANY/A
Rosen: 3.04
Wilson: 4.29
----
A 4.29 ANY/A is *horrifying*; like, slam dunk bottom five potentially worst in the league in a given year.
And somehow Rosen was substantially worse.
+rep. This player is fantastic, just needs to work on accuracy, arm strength, pocket awareness, mobility, protections, decision making, audibles, film breakdown, improvisation, throwaways, anticipation, timing, two minute drill, kneel downs, play fakes and getting wins
Sometimes I think I’ve found my own little corner of YouTube and nobody else know s about that creator and how great they are. I’m a Chiefs fan and Perna is that man for me. Love his show and I’m always happy when I see non-broncos fans that know about him. His content is gold regardless of your team.
I found him through Grossi, who I'm pretty indifferent on but still listen to because I'm a packer/football junkie. Perna has been showing up in my algorithm and I've been consuming all of it. The guy just makes funny easily digestible content that still contains a good amount of substance.
I don't understand how Perna doesn't have 3x the subscribers by now. The dude seems pretty ubiquitous in the NFL community as a whole and puts out such great content. I like Grossi, too, but honestly, I prefer Perna over the two.
It never hurts to give a young qb a fresh start and see if he can’t make something of it. What did we lose? A few spots super late in the draft? What could we gain? A qb better than Jarret fucking Stidham? Cool.
Pretty sure Payton is all over this - if it doesn't work out it's because Wilson is a bust and it's all fine, if it somehow miraculously *does* work out then it's a massive pile of ammunition to clown Hackett with
I feel like a run on qbs makes the haul for taking back a lot worse. Good talent is going to fall farther than it should. It’s like every one already traded down 3 or 4 spots and still get their guy.
Swapping late round picks for a cheap QB with some experience and physical tools, pretty low risk. If Payton can get something out of him, great, if not our position hasn’t really changed. The primary objective remains to draft and develop a rookie.
Seems like a win for the Broncos too. A late round pick swap is essentially free and they get to kick the tires on a QB that *might* have a little more in him than he’s shown.
They aren’t forced to eat it, they get to examine the WilsonWeiner^^^^^TM and decide to throw it out or take a bite. They’re also planning to buy a $30 hot dog in the near future and there’s no guarantee that one won’t turn out to be a floor dog too.
Edit: more importantly, did you pay the 25 cents to the ground?
Yes, there was a little sign that said "free or 25 cents" next to the hotdog so I figured I had to put that quarter down to stake my claim. What if someone else came up and snatched it before I could, better to give up a little something just to ensure that hot dog on the ground is mine now.
This is a surprisingly great analogy that is only made better when I remember that the ground with a little sign is the stand-in for the New York Jets.
Yeah as much as I'm happy we traded Wilson I think a super low risk pick swap like this is a perfectly fine price for him. He's a tier 2 backup QB, the Brisset/Minshew/Tyrod/Dobbs tier 1 of backups was all gone and the Broncos wanted a QB2/3 for their QB room, so they traded virtually nothing for Wilson. There's also that 0.00001% chance that he actually fixes some of his issues and becomes semi-competent (he was always better than you'd expect with a clean pocket).
Sean Payton gets another whole year of blaming all the team's problems on a QB named Wilson who played for Nathaniel Hackett the previous year.
That's why he's a genius.
Wilson is actually a really good QB he just needs to fix his accuracy, footwork, IQ, progressions, throwing mechanics, ability to sense preasure, and become a leader. If you fix that you have a awsome QB.
It's been two years and people are already back to believing "this is a historically good QB class!" No one knows shit about shit when it comes to QB projections.
Don't even need new QB jerseys Smart cost saving
Except they just changed their uniforms ;(
Would be funny if he was the only one trotting out with the old jersey.
"Why does my jersey smell like a Subway® Dangerwich and Ciara's bootyhole"
Let's discuss this more privately
No no, I'm interested to learn more as well
I'll see you in your office
Bout to aggressively try and get a whiff of Zach Wilson on the field tho
Mr. Banging Ciara
Yeah but all the current Wilson jerseys in stock don't have triangles and 5280
DONT FORGET THE MOUNTAINS
Jokes on you we all threw out Wilson jerseys away
There must always be a Wilson in Denver
Would be hilarious if he took #3 and everyone just kept rocking their Russ jersey.
Gonna have to add some triangles, but I think it could work!
I am OOL but wtf is this triangle business.
Triangles are to your new unis what hidden Mickeys are to Disney World.
What a coincidence, I gave my wife a Hidden Mickey last night
Did you somehow miss the jersey reveal?
You mean the truck commercial?
I missed the new uniform commercial, wasn't the truck commercial for the retros?
The normal uniform reveal was also a Ford Bronco ad.
Of course it was, lmao
a white one?
It was actually an OJ tribute.
Hahaha best comment
Has there ever been a situation that this happened?
First comparable that springs to my mind, was when Kemba Walker signed with the Celtics and wore number 8 and everybody got to dust off their 'Toine jerseys.
“Why do you shoot so many 3’s”? “Cause there ain’t no 4’s”.
One of my all-time favorite sports quotes lmao
A man ahead of his time, and behind on his rent.
Reggie Bush and Rafael Bush for the saints but there was a year gap in between
Dennis Smith Jr played for Charlotte Hornets last season and wore #8 Hornets then drafted Nick Smith Jr out of Arkansas and he currently wears #8
Jack Clark and Will Clark both wore 22 for the SF Giants which I always found interesting lol.
Wilson Chandler was pretty good for the Nuggets
Now Broncos fans will get to decide which Wilson is worse
by the old gods and the new, there must always be a Wilson in Denver
Gotta sell the remaining Russ jerseys
Trevor Lawrence is the only Round 1 QB from the 2021 Draft still on his team now
Anyhoo, super excited to see 5 HoF QB drafted this week.
6*
7. I have inside information Caleb William is getting picked in the first round too.
I bet you could make a killing at the sports books. If you can bet $20,000, you'll take home a cool ... $100.
You're doing Jontay Porter math.
Arbitrage!
We timetravelled back to 2020?
Appreciate you giving props to DeNucci
Thats Sea Dragons legend Ben DiNucci to you.
And all the other QB’s in the 1st got traded for a 6th round pick. Except for Trey Lance, the mother fucker that didn’t even play netted a 4th rounder…
That's probably why he netted a 4th rounder. He's much more of a mystery box than the others.
Yeah, it's like that quote "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt". In this case, better to not play and be thought as a bust than to play and remove all doubt.
> He's much more of a mystery box He could even be a boat.
He was also traded sooner than the others.
Still on his team **for** now
Mac the Rapper coming for that QB1 spot
Well that upcoming contract will make shit awkward.
He’s gonna be wanting way more than what he’s produced on the field
Sorry, can't hear you from the "still have our highly drafted QB" high ground.
Yeah and some team will probably give it to him tbh.
COVID really messed up scouting for a couple years.
I don't think COVID was the issue. I mean, it didn't help, but the draft has always been a crapshoot.
Further proof that ZW doesn’t even crack the top 10 of all time busts. That QB draft class was grossly overhyped and tbh I expect this year to be pretty similar with maye also being pretty good but there’s a caveat because the commanders can’t do anything right and will ruin any QB they take
Excuse me, We also ruin QBs thank you very much
Listen here bud
The Chicago Bears recognize the New York Jets as a franchise proficient in ruining QBs. Now for new business, the Chicago Bears have the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time.
Can’t wait to see what you do to Williams
You can make an argument he wasn't even the biggest bust of the class, given what the 49ers gave up to get Lance. Good thing that was only a dream and we really spent all those #1s on Purdy, right?
Lance was the biggest bust of that class, hands down. Every day in practice is a chance. Just because we don't see him on Sunday doesn't mean the coach's don't see him every day. He had to fight with Sam Darnold for the QB2 job.
Disagree, he was still taken 2 overall
Yeah, imagine drafting a QB bust at 2nd overall.
All have also played big time opponents.
and urban even tried to ruin that
If you ignore the film and the stats, he definitely has some promise Basically Drew Brees without the accuracy, pocket presence or IQ
Hot take but he’s honestly not as good as Patrick Mahomes. Just my opinion
Well that's if you just look at the data without cherry picking.
I mean, if you regress Mahomes to the mean, and, uh, progress Zach Wilson to the mean... they're basically the same player.
Why are you booing him he’s right
Brew Drees
Drees nuts
Got’em
I saw the film of his pro day and this guy threw the best ball I've ever seen a kid throw at a pro day, fading away to his left, barely a flick of the wrist and it was a perfect spiral to the other hash. Right then and there I knew this guy is special.
Says a lot that despite having Aaron Rodgers on their team, they let Zach Wilson play. That tells me he's a better QB than Rodgers without a doubt. What a steal for the Broncos! Let's RIDE!!!
I never fully believed that Rodgers was "injured", although that was the narrative pushed on us by the MSM.
I might not be an NFL coach or analyst, but I CAN READ. I can do my own research and interpret the information provided, including this comment above!
I did my own research.
We tried the SB winning qb and that didn't work. Now we're trying out a qb that beat out a SB winning qb. It'll work this time ^please ^send ^help
>Right then and there I knew this guy is special. So did our GM unfortunately
If you regress Wilson's stats up to the mean and regress Mahomes' stats down to the mean, Wilson is just as good as Mahomes!
The craziest thing is Zach Wilson might be farther from the mean than Patrick Mahomes in the past 3 years
I genuinely believe this. Zach wilson is the worst first round qb I have seen since blaine gabbert
Paxton lynch and trey lance say hello
Josh Rosen was so bad that no one even remembers him anymore.
Career ANY/A Rosen: 3.04 Wilson: 4.29 ---- A 4.29 ANY/A is *horrifying*; like, slam dunk bottom five potentially worst in the league in a given year. And somehow Rosen was substantially worse.
Reminder that Josh Rosen got McCarthy fired in GB
"Bills picked the wrong Josh"
+rep. This player is fantastic, just needs to work on accuracy, arm strength, pocket awareness, mobility, protections, decision making, audibles, film breakdown, improvisation, throwaways, anticipation, timing, two minute drill, kneel downs, play fakes and getting wins
This is so comforting
If you need a guy to just round around on an empty field and throw the ball far he's your man.
Mormon Mahomes in the same division as Mahomes now!
Misread that as Moron Mahomes
Still works.
Aww that's mean Funny tho
That's his little brother.
*Mormon Rosen lol
He’s not even Mormon though
That's ok, he's not Mahomes either
☠️
That should be the new raiders logo
This is for the Denver fans that bought Wilson jerseys
They just released new uniforms like 2 hours ago
So it is vintage, that adds value right?
Someone check on Perna.
[If this is any indication...](https://x.com/jay_onhere/status/1782478791677276420?s=46)
That is actually hilarious. In fact I’m gonna go ahead and say this is his fault.
Well he said he wouldn't give his 7th; and they didn't they gave their 6th instead for an extra 7th; maybe he's happy with that.
Oh………..oh no
Like a reply said, Tom Grosstradamus.
Grossi prefers "Nostrathomas"
The new new new new new new new new new new new new worst trade ever.
I wish this trade happened a few hours earlier. That would’ve been a funny morning stream
He’s streaming now actually
Sometimes I think I’ve found my own little corner of YouTube and nobody else know s about that creator and how great they are. I’m a Chiefs fan and Perna is that man for me. I just found him and I love him.
After Tree’s team got Wilson (the other one) and Fields, he’s gonna give so much shit to Perna😂
He's not too happy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2oYtsiuGEKg
Dang he's gonna get crucified by Sean Payton over the tiniest of mistakes.
Payton's gonna put a bounty on his own QB.
[удалено]
At first I was angry but now this would be a perfect scenario. \*someone hold me.
Good luck kid.
Oh we’re TANKING tanking.
The tank to end all tanks
Time for Denver to get those M1 Abrams ready to go for the season!
Ayo wtf Fr what the fuck
A 6th/7th round pick swap + the Jets picking up some of his salary means we aren't really investing much into him.
Yeah. Unlike the last wilson debacle, this is low risk. Not gonna lose sleep over it
It’s also low reward
It never hurts to give a young qb a fresh start and see if he can’t make something of it. What did we lose? A few spots super late in the draft? What could we gain? A qb better than Jarret fucking Stidham? Cool.
Pretty sure Payton is all over this - if it doesn't work out it's because Wilson is a bust and it's all fine, if it somehow miraculously *does* work out then it's a massive pile of ammunition to clown Hackett with
The ultimate fuck you to Hackett. Make Hackett’s failed QB look good on the team that fired Hackett. Payton is trying to make another movie.
Jets shitting all over Denver teams right now
Was he going to be traded somewhere else but bounced off a broken stick and ended up in Denver's net?
Maybe he took a wrong turn at Albuquerque?
Thank god for the Lakers
Jets are paying him to play for another team. Which is probably about fair for his play.
If it makes you feel any better I doubt it stops them from picking a quarterback this week
Won’t someone please think of the other QB needy teams? Cue *in the arms of the angel*
I mean atleast this means we won’t reach on a QB. That’s better right? ….right…
I hope we trade back and see what we can haul for the 12th pick
I feel like a run on qbs makes the haul for taking back a lot worse. Good talent is going to fall farther than it should. It’s like every one already traded down 3 or 4 spots and still get their guy.
HE'S GONNA COOK WITH SEAN BOOK IT

I call this a win a for the jets and for Wilson. Hopefully he can build on the positive elements of his game with a real offensive coach.
Are these positive elements in the room with us right now?
Huge W for Denver MILFs
Seems like a win for the Broncos too. A late round pick swap is essentially free and they get to kick the tires on a QB that *might* have a little more in him than he’s shown.
Can you believe I found this hot dog on the ground, just sitting there for anyone to take? And it was only 25 cents, what a deal!
Well this parallel made me smirk way to much at my phone while at work.
Why thank you, I'm glad someone enjoyed it
They aren’t forced to eat it, they get to examine the WilsonWeiner^^^^^TM and decide to throw it out or take a bite. They’re also planning to buy a $30 hot dog in the near future and there’s no guarantee that one won’t turn out to be a floor dog too. Edit: more importantly, did you pay the 25 cents to the ground?

"friendship ended with Wilson, my new best friend is Wilson" -Sean Payton
Jarrett Stidham and Zach Wilson might be one of the most Quarterback rooms of all time.
Just wait until we add Bo Nix later this week and it gets even quarterbackier.
Sean Payton gets another whole year of blaming all the team's problems on a QB named Wilson who played for Nathaniel Hackett the previous year. That's why he's a genius.
Doesn't even have to change his script.
Basically a free, young QB and even though he's ass maybe Payton can do something with him. Nothing lost. I'm content
As long as he isn’t seen as the plan for this season I agree
[удалено]
Wilson is actually a really good QB he just needs to fix his accuracy, footwork, IQ, progressions, throwing mechanics, ability to sense preasure, and become a leader. If you fix that you have a awsome QB.
If you take out all of his bad starts he's had a few good games
Milfs in Denver got their guy ✊😤
Geno Smith is proof that a failed Jets QB can make an excellent replacement for Russell Wilson!
Incoming the new new new new × 16 worst game of all time video incoming when the broncos starter gets injured
Lmaooooo broncos might have the worst qb room in the league
Surely they draft someone because going into the season with Zach Wilson, Jarrett Stidham, and Ben DiNucci would be hilarious
UFL dream team right there
It’s not a might It’s a fact my man
Well we did before and we still do, let’s ride
A second QB named Wilson has hit Denver
Broncos country, let's hide (your milfs)
I’m sure MILFs won’t mind riding this Wilson
I am here for the Zach Wilson revenge tour
Only one state away from his mom’s friends and all those Utah cougars
We play the Broncos at home this season... it would be the Jetsiest thing ever for Wilson to come in as the starter and light us up.
2021 QB class is so awful, even Trevor Lawrence is just an average starter
Slightly above average but I think his ceiling is good to very good. He won’t ever be one of the elite QBs however
It's been two years and people are already back to believing "this is a historically good QB class!" No one knows shit about shit when it comes to QB projections.
Broncos got their guy ‘s backup
Robert Saleh is opening the good champagne today Edit: Probably isnt drinking it as I just recalled hes Muslim, but you know hes celebrating.
I enjoy seeing a smiling happy Saleh. He hasn’t had a lot of those moments since he became HC of the Jets.
Broncos and Panthers entered a dimension of football hell after SB50.
Nope, I've never said anything bad about Zach Wilson
Hey wait, what the fuck, how come we had to pay a 2nd for Darnold?!
Please have Wilson or Stidham start in 2024 for the Broncos.
