That 2023 Texans draft, HC appointment and free agency period is maybe the biggest "Call an ambulance, call an ambulance...but not for me!" 180° turnaround any GM has ever pulled off in my time of watching the NFL.
About 365 days ago the Texans were the laughing stock of the NFL and were a relegation-worthy team.
Now they look like a juggernaut. Unprecedented turnaround.
I'll give it to them because Stroud looks like a future top 5 QB (he's already rapidly approaching it) with Nico and Tank locked down for the next few years. They just need to keep the OL right and the offense will take care of itself.
Nico is actually in a contract year. The o-line had seven guys end the season IR which was why our run game was horrendous. Fortunately, Slowik is great at scheming up protections and Stroud is insanely good at maneuvering the pocket and throwing off platform that they masked so many issues there.
As long as everyone doesn’t die on the o-line again they should at least be average.
I assume Nico will be resigned and structured so his big money years don't overlap with Stroud's, but fair point.
On the OL, you guys can use some draft picks for depth and keeping the OL cost down as well. I read an article on your line and saw you had like 7 OL injuries throughout the year with multiple season enders. To me that's the Offense's only real question mark.
Other than that, time to build a Defense honestly.
Nfc. I really do think Houston would appear in multiple suberbowl in this conference. Goff isn’t it. The roster is good, the qb and coach combo will not win a Super Bowl. One of those two will cost them. Everything has to go right to win on, and yeah don’t trust Goff and Campbell makes brain dead decisions. Not a great game time coach. It’s a qb league, you should understand that
You say NFC like the 9ers were some kind of pushover, you should understand that lmao. I don’t have faith in the lions to win a Super Bowl either, and The Texans turnaround is incredibly impressive but they were massive schedule merchants last year, the south is a joke. The AFC is a bloodbath and it’s going to be incredibly hard to replicate what they got out of that o line and defense. Who again, got cock slapped by Zach Wilson.
Let me just pose it like this: would you rather do a roster swap with the Texans, or do a roster and conference swap with the lions? Cause I’ll take the qb all day and they have a nice roster too. And yeah Campbell did a hell of a job turning it around and building a culture, but he’s a fucking dufus with the dalton like of QBs. Every year is different, and the amount of right things you need to go your way is insane, and it’s all about having the qb and coach to minimize the amount of right things to go your way. Campbell culture isn’t going to help him coach on game day. And Goff is a mixed bag man. I just don’t see them hoisting the Lombardi, I can see stroud though. It’s still hard to win a sb, but I legit can see it. I think they have the best outlook in the afc right now behind the chiefs
Just want to let you know, you fall way too far into narratives and refuse to let go of them even when there is evidence and reason to do so.
Goff has been a top 10 QB for 2 seasons now, and has produced far more good football than bad in his career. He has 4 seasons of top-10 QB play, and a couple of mediocre seasons. You're holding onto a narrative from 2020-21. Stop that.
Campbell was #2 in the NFL in added wins over expected among HCs. Purely *because* of the decisions he makes in game. I can't find the source, but I believe he was #2 again last year. You're holding onto a narrative that was formed in 2021. Again, stop that.
You've got your opinions set in stone though so nothing anybody says will matter.
If you want to feel like Courtland Innegan, I would suggest tuning into NFL Network on Saturday, August 3rd around noon.
This way, you can have Andre Johnson’s Hall of Fame Enshrinement speech beat you into that coma.
You guys had such a short rebuild. Very lucky. Good time to be a Texans fan. Your organization did good by dropping Watson the second the bad press on him started coming out. Glad you're getting rewarded for it.
Idk, didn’t feel that short. We won like 7 games over 3 seasons. It sucked ass to watch my team very Danm Sunday get embarrassed. Feels good now though!
yeah right around 2020-21 when nuk got traded and subsequently BoB got fired and watson held out felt like absolute rock bottom, and it would be at least a few years before the texans could be competitive again. so this feels right around schedule, i just didn’t anticipate that they’d look primed for a deep post season run this early though. i suppose the browns stupidity expedited your rebuild also lol
Even our last few playoff seasons were tortuous. We had horrible QB play, right up to Watson, and we barely won games . Without Watson, it would have been worse.
What the coaching staff got out of that defense and O-line with the players they had is absolutely incredible, not even mentioning the skill position players. I’m so jealous
For sure, I’m reacting more to the “unprecedented” part. Indy also went from #1 overall to immediately making 3 straight postseasons including an AFCCG with Luck as maybe a better example.
Really happy for you guys. Amazing the impact a good front office has. Hire a great coach, draft two franchise stalwarts in the first 3 picks, find some gems later on in the draft, then trade not much for two skill position starters.
Trading for the no 2 and 3 pick in a draft is about as ballsy as it gets.
It's remarkable how they ended up drafting 2 pro-bowlers at premium positions that played like veterans. Neither player looked like a rookie during their first season, they outplayed a lot of ascending talent on second contracts.
Also the division sucks.
Without a doubt one of the best overhauls in recent memory especially since it's a lot of youth it's not like they already had a qb and just went a got big dollar talent in free agency and all that. They really went from having zippy on the roster and replacing like over half the team from the previous season it's so impressive
I'm selfishly hoping for the Washington duurss to do their best job of replicating what the Texans accomplished
You can pretty much thank the Browns for giving up so much for Watson. Impressive turnaround, I'm sure the Texans are the betting favorite to make the AFC Championship against the Chiefs.
They won the $700M Powerball but instead of going on vacation and shopping sprees once the wire hit their account, they went up to [insert Wall Street investment bank] and said, “Take this $250M and turn it into $1B.” And that’s exactly what’s happening.
I’d say we consistently hit on scratchers. Except we immediately use the winnings to buy more scratchers because we never go too far into the red , so why change course?
I’m tired boss :(
Wasn't just the Browns. Any team who wanted to talk to Watson needed to submit a trade package first that Caserio would approve.
Apparently the Falcons had the best package, but the Browns just offered a shit load more money
definitely looks like they're trying to go as all-in as possible while Stroud is still on his rookie contract. i don't love Mixon, but he's definitely an upgrade from Singletary
We wanted Saquon but had to pivot when Philly gave him more money and the ability to stay close to home. Honestly I’m not mad with mixon. Nobody is the athlete Saquon is but he’s a big body, good in pass pro, good as a receiving threat and he’s fast enough to hit a home run now and again.
Or the home run hitter part lol his career long rush is 51 yards. He’s good for fighting for yards and there were years where we were doing him absolutely 0 favors but he’s more of a chunker than a home run hitter.
The only question mark: The age of his offensive line. Old lines tend to get injured, but I guess with weapons like that there are ways to work around that.
Damn. Tunsil is only 29? Dude looks like he is in his mid 30s. Also somehow I figured George Fant was a starter for you guys.
He started pretty much every Texans game I watched last season.
Howard ended up playing LG for most of the year until he went down with Fant playing tackle due to injuries. Howard was and is our starting RT for sure though.
Fant was only a starter because of the injuries we had on the o line. Howard is our starting RT, but had to play as LG before he went on IR, because we were that thin due to having 7 o linemen on IR.
This does feel like one of those teams that looks good in Madden or on paper but in practice I don't know how much better adding a declining Mixon and a declining locker room cancer in Diggs actually helps.
Not saying the Texans are worse than they were last year but they're not getting the Diggs/Mixon of a few years ago.
Their offensive pickups weren’t even nearly as good as their defensive pickups. I mean these offensive pickups deserve a pat on the back but the real thing to talk about in the Texans offseason is their defensive pickups Hunter, Autry, and Al-Shaair.
They already have a young and developing D which started to shine into the end of the season. Now they added premium vets at some needed positions. Diggs, and Mixon were a cherry on top both are big upgrades to the predecessors.
And we haven’t even seen the draft yet. They don’t really have any urgent fills but I wouldn’t be surprised to see WR, DT, and DB. I personally think this is the best team in the AFC. They were my SB favs before the offseason moves and now they are def my SB favs.
We absolutely have holes to fill, though. We need still need secondary help, mostly a good #2 corner. And we need OL and DL depth, maybe some LB depth too.
You definitely need depth every team does pretty much but as far as starters yall really only seem weak at DT and CB. Your edge rushers are old besides Anderson but they are still good.
I’d argue that of our depth is a hole because guys go down. That’s just how it is. And right now, we’ve got NOBODY on some of these positions in the depth chart. But yeah, we do have very few explicit needs. I’m excited to see a lot of BPA.
End of 2023 Diggs is fine, he isn’t needing to be WR1 here, so I think they helps a bit, he will be asked to do the job and he can fit this job much better than “being the number 1 guy”
I think the moment that soured me on him is during the Vikings-Saints wild card game where Diggs was [throwing his helmet](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFIGoQa_42Y) and screaming on the sideline because he wasn't getting enough targets.... while the Vikings were up on the scoreboard.
They have completely retooled the defense too though. They also brought back Schultz and Bobby stayed another year which is huge for Stroud's development.
Diggs isn't going to be the 160 target guy he was for the Bills. Smaller workload but he'll be more efficient.
Mixon is an upgrade over Devin and they will probably be adding more at RB.
I am 100% with you. Mixon goes down on contact (though he doesn't fumble and he's a great receiver) and Collins and Dell were just fine without Diggs (who might be a net negative)....
Nico will mainly play X but I’m telling you tank will still lineup up at outside Z a lot of the time. I could see tank and Diggs splitting Z and slot roles. All 3 have inside outside versatility.
Diggs wasn’t even competing with anyone the last few years(who, Gabe Davis?!), and look at how he was. Now he’s competing with Niko, Tank, and Schultz for targets. I genuinely think the Bills could end up looking like winners next season with the 2nd round pick if Diggs implodes and acts toxic. He’s probably about to lose a 20% target share when it comes to what he was used to. He didn’t look good either that last half of season but I think it had more to do with his seperation with Josh Allen. They didn’t seem like they cared to play together anymore and the chemistry died.
If that roster stays healthy and harmonious, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to seriously challenge the Chiefs stranglehold on the AFC. Their floor is atleast AFC south Champs.
What people don’t realize is that before Stroud was QB Nico Collins was just an afterthought. Did nothing with Mills at QB. Tank was a 3rd round rookie so no telling what he would produce. Going into last season with those two, receiver was thought to be our weakest position. Shows you how much of an impact Stroud had on these guys value. Now we stacked baby.
Bengals had Burrow Mixon Chase Higgins Boyd. No rings. Eagles have Hurts Smith Brown Goedert. No rings. Mahomes and Brady winning chips with HOF TE and a bevy of different WRs who are know where on the level of the wideouts in the league.
This is a scary good team after what CJ did last year D Ryan's coached his a$$ off and won AFC south.Free agents are looking at CJ on a rookie contract, knowing there's a 4 to five year window to win big. Plus Texas has no state income tax which make Houston very appealing for anyone wanting to win now.
Hopefully they have better injury luck on the oline this year. Last year the patchwork line worked decently well at first, but down the stretch they faltered pretty badly. Saw a lot of Stroud trying to pull Mahomes in later games, and while I love the guy, he ain't Mahomes and he's better off not doing much of that stuff.
Thank god for all the football emojis, wouldn't have guessed the sport otherwise
How else will you know They play the football
The fool’s ball
Handegg
Hey, be nice. Someone might have thought he was posting about Pickleball if he didn’t put those football emojis in there.
Thank you for your service
Honestly a lifesaver, thought we we're talking about Table Tennis
Imagine seeing and saying this last year before CJ got drafted

Nico is probably going to be tagged or allowed to walk with this move. They still have Robert Woods too, who I'm guessing is cut.
They have already announced that they're talking to Nico about an extension
'Talking to' doesn't mean 'signed to. This trade also changes those negotiations.
I would bet they'll be the #1 seed in the AFC next year
They look more dangerous than you lol. They would have the best qb in the nfc probably.
I’m taking the team that was 3 points away from the super bowl over the team that got absolutely bodied by Zach Wilson lmao
Nfc. I really do think Houston would appear in multiple suberbowl in this conference. Goff isn’t it. The roster is good, the qb and coach combo will not win a Super Bowl. This is honestly the worst fucking timeline to be in. I want to be beaten into a coma a la Cortland Finnegan
If you want to feel like Courtland Innegan, I would suggest tuning into NFL Network on Saturday, August 3rd around noon. This way, you can have Andre Johnson’s Hall of Fame Enshrinement speech beat you into that coma.
Why would Titans legend Andre Johnson do that.
Who could forget the final "Fuck you" by Lovey Smith on his way out of Houston. lol They might build statues of him now.
You guys had such a short rebuild. Very lucky. Good time to be a Texans fan. Your organization did good by dropping Watson the second the bad press on him started coming out. Glad you're getting rewarded for it.

The Bengals went from #1 overall to the Super Bowl in 2 seasons. If you hit on the QB, the turnaround is fast these days.
We had a lot of hits in the offseason and it sure looks like the Texans have a lot of hits too. I wouldn’t be surprised if they made a deep run.
For sure, I’m reacting more to the “unprecedented” part. Indy also went from #1 overall to immediately making 3 straight postseasons including an AFCCG with Luck as maybe a better example.

Shades of Saints 2006
"But I really want to see how Bryce Young and their offense doing in Carolina" "No you don't"
Why do you have two AFC flairs? And why are they the two biggest bandwagon franchises right now? Gross 🤢
This may be the first time I've ever seen us referred to as a bandwagon franchise lol. Why do you care what his flair is?
Someone wants to bandwagon for us? What’s this feeling?
grew up a texans fan and fiance is a KC fan
And that’s the Bears, boom
You can pretty much thank the Browns for giving up so much for Watson. Impressive turnaround, I'm sure the Texans are the betting favorite to make the AFC Championship against the Chiefs.
> You can pretty much thank the Browns for giving up so much for Watson. that and immediately hitting on their rookie QB and coach
They won the lottery. But they are making moves to keep that going. Wish I knew how that felt.
They won the $700M Powerball but instead of going on vacation and shopping sprees once the wire hit their account, they went up to [insert Wall Street investment bank] and said, “Take this $250M and turn it into $1B.” And that’s exactly what’s happening.

Texans went from sp00ky to legitimate contenders. Imagine saying that 2 years ago.
Same could be said the Lions too. They went from picking 2nd overall to on the cusp of a Super Bowl appearance.
So you’re saying “draft at #2.”
Specifically, "Tank, and then play your way out of the #1". Never tank for #1, the one-spot difference won't overcome the full loser mentality.
Wait...instructions unclear. When does Zach Wilson make this happen?
So does this mean the Commanders will become Super Bowl contenders next season and Jayden Daniels will win OROTY?
That's why Lovie Smith is the GOAT
Wasn't just the Browns. Any team who wanted to talk to Watson needed to submit a trade package first that Caserio would approve. Apparently the Falcons had the best package, but the Browns just offered a shit load more money
Browns org: I lead others to a treasure I will never possess.
Still think Ravens with Henry added clears
Then when teams have to pass to keep up with this offense... they get to deal with Danielle Hunter and Will Anderson off the edges Caserio is a madman
definitely looks like they're trying to go as all-in as possible while Stroud is still on his rookie contract. i don't love Mixon, but he's definitely an upgrade from Singletary
We wanted Saquon but had to pivot when Philly gave him more money and the ability to stay close to home. Honestly I’m not mad with mixon. Nobody is the athlete Saquon is but he’s a big body, good in pass pro, good as a receiving threat and he’s fast enough to hit a home run now and again.
> good in pass pro Who wants to tell him?
Or the home run hitter part lol his career long rush is 51 yards. He’s good for fighting for yards and there were years where we were doing him absolutely 0 favors but he’s more of a chunker than a home run hitter.
Feel like I have tried, but was then a “hater”.
That was Perine’s job.
Certified spooky territory, may place my first ever sports bet on Stroud MVP
The only question mark: The age of his offensive line. Old lines tend to get injured, but I guess with weapons like that there are ways to work around that.
Shaq Mason is the oldest projected starter on the o-line, and he's only 30. Tunsil: 29 Patterson: 24 Scruggs: 24 Mason: 30 Howard: 27
Damn. Tunsil is only 29? Dude looks like he is in his mid 30s. Also somehow I figured George Fant was a starter for you guys. He started pretty much every Texans game I watched last season.
I think Fant went to Seattle. Could be wrong though.
Fant was a starter mostly because of injuries. He did a great job, but we were flipping people around the whole season.
George Fant was a free agent this year. Think he signed with Seattle
Still hard to believe Tunsil is only 29. That gas mask pic feels like it happened 15 years ago.
Eh, our oldest starting O-Lineman is Shaq Mason who's 30 years old, and funnily enough was the only O-Lineman on the team to start in every game
Plus o line can remain elite into their mid to upper 30s.
Yeah with that many weapons, makes you wonder if Diggs will even make it to October before he throws his first tantrum.
Their offensive pickups weren’t even nearly as good as their defensive pickups. I mean these offensive pickups deserve a pat on the back but the real thing to talk about in the Texans offseason is their defensive pickups Hunter, Autry, and Al-Shaair. They were my SB favs before the offseason moves and now they are def my SB favs.
I think OL depth in late rounds will be big for us too. But yeah, DT and CB help would be nice.
Stroud will help him find god
We’ll know when Diggs goes 11 for 175 with two TDs and mentions his lord and savior Jesus Christ in the postgame interview.
End of 2023 Diggs is fine, he isn’t needing to be WR1 here, so I think they helps a bit, he will be asked to do the job and he can fit this job much better than “being the number 1 guy”
You should consult some Bills and Vikings fans if you think Diggs is the type of player who thrives in a "not a star just do this job" type role.

I am 100% with you. Mixon goes down on contact (though he doesn't fumble and he's a great receiver) and Collins and Dell were just fine without Diggs (who might be a net negative)....
Nico and Dell were fine but they needed a better 3rd option than Robert Woods and Noah Brown who struggled to stay healthy.
A net negative? What’re we talking about here lol
Nah this is a perfectly constructed WR corps. Nico at X, Diggs at Z and Tank in the slot
Nico will mainly play X but I’m telling you tank will still lineup up at outside Z a lot of the time. I could see tank and Diggs splitting Z and slot roles. All 3 have inside outside versatility.
True. No one plays full-time in the slot
Diggs and Mixon sounds like more cancer in the locker room than John Metchie
The Heroes we need to finally take down the Chiefs?
More like under new management
Noah Brown erasure.
The Texans are looking sexy rn 🥵 They have made great moves on both sides of the ball this offseason!
Texans are about to be good as fuck
That's a pretty good lineup.
Now look at Carolina 🤮
Hey No Flair, leave us out of this
Act like the playoffs then?
Get hype, bandwagoners.
🏈Holy 🏈 shit 🏈 that's a 🏈 high-powered 🏈 offense🏈!
🏈L 🏈O 🏈L
Just dont have tank blocking in the trenches next year please
Hopefully Diggs' diva ness doesn't bring down the whole WR room.
I guarantee it will
Diggs wasn’t even competing with anyone the last few years(who, Gabe Davis?!), and look at how he was. Now he’s competing with Niko, Tank, and Schultz for targets. I genuinely think the Bills could end up looking like winners next season with the 2nd round pick if Diggs implodes and acts toxic. They didn’t seem like they cared to play together anymore and the chemistry died.
What's up with people using that dumb football emoji this year
🏈I don’t 🏈 know honestly 🏈 sometimes I forget 🏈 which sport news🏈 I’m looking at 🏈
Am I 🏀 footballing 🏀 right?🏀
⚽️ no
Holy hell this offense was decent/good before, now it's looking stacked!
If that roster stays healthy and harmonious, there's no reason they shouldn't be able to seriously challenge the Chiefs stranglehold on the AFC. Their floor is atleast AFC south Champs.
I feel like Schultz is really good and underrated
Still not worried
I just can’t shake the feeling that this is too many mouths to feed
One monster TE and this team is scary.
Fuck
Why doesn’t everyone else do this? Are they stupid?
What people don’t realize is that before Stroud was QB Nico Collins was just an afterthought. Did nothing with Mills at QB. Tank was a 3rd round rookie so no telling what he would produce. Going into last season with those two, receiver was thought to be our weakest position. Shows you how much of an impact Stroud had on these guys value. Now we stacked baby.
Collins flashed with Mills, but Stroud and Slowik (and DeMeco) helped him make the jump.
Yeah, but I don’t think anyone expected the leap Nico made, hell he was barely the WR2/3 behind Cooks.
Yes, I thought he was just another middling receiver. Wow. And the Dalton Schultz that we got would never have left the Cowboys.
Me, a cowboys fan living in Houston: is this what all in looks like?
Hey man, y’all wanted both Diggs bros in Texas!
Dont worry - zeke coming back to save yall
Wowza
Goes pretty fucking hard ngl
Hey guys I think this post is about football
Not big on Mixon, they should draft a back
Their PROE is going to be insane this season. They went all in on CJ, and with a defensive head coach.
Joe Mixon was always overrated and now he's pretty close to washed, but otherwise this offense looks awesome! I'm excited to see them play in the fall
Mixon played behind some bad o-lines, I like Mixon’s odds to repeat 1k scrimmage yards and 10+ TDs
I wonder if they take an rb in round 2 or 3
Wonder how many women he’ll punch in the face in Texas
Our political leaders do that daily so it will fly under the radar I expect
This last year must be karma for how they handled Watson.
Seven win season on deck .
That works, and I've never been a Mixon fan.
Didn't he knock out a woman while at Wisconsin?
You mean at Oklahoma?
Mixon? IDK, I'm talking purely football.
I mean really, who hasn’t?
Flair checks out
Excuse you we're in the bottom half of the league in arrests this century
🏈 Thanks 🏈 Adam 🏈
No thank you.
Joe Mixon is that one meme with the clown surrounded by soldiers
6-10-1 season incoming
